Hello guys,
sorry to bother you with this, maybe a little bit noobish question, but I´m trying to solve, which ROM shouldn´t brick my brand new phone and I´m a little bit confused, because even here and on Modaco there is not a specific thread for this phone model. On modaco there is one called San Francisco II or Crescent, but I´m really not sure whether to use that ROMs or not, bcs there is P736 model mentioned.
So I´ve decided to ask you guys here on XDA to make those things clear for me, the only thing I don´t want to experiment with custom ROMs is that I´m aware of bricking my phone installing wrong one.
My Phone is ZTE Blade II (known like this in my country), P735TB01, build GB_EUR_P735TV1.0.0B01. The phone is rooted, Clockworkmod installed, the main rooted rom is backed up.
I´d like also to ask you to provide some links to ROMs and advices which roms are best.
Thanks a lot, guys,
regards, John
edit: Admin please lock this thread, I guess I´m asking in wrong thread, moving my question to correct non Blade forum (I guess I should cuz it´s Blade II...)

Hi.
I am currently own a Samsung Omnia and I am planning to flash with custom Win6.5 ROM.
Before I do that I would like to backup my original ROM just in case anything happen I able to revert back as what I had right now.
My questions:
1) Is there any ROM Dump application available to do so for my original ROM backup?
2) Edit: There is NO better ROM. You need to test and read the feedback and decide for yourself
I know my questions are somewhere in the forum but there are thousands of them I hope someone kind enough to help me over here. Thanks in advance.
Eric

Hi Ameet,
Thanks for editing my thread.
I am not expert like u which I able to identify which custom rom is stable or good for my phone by reading through thousands of thread over the forum. To me, all look the same and I do not know where to start. I know there is not prefect ROM available for every phone or everyone but I do highlighted as I am using Samsung Omnia and I hope someone using the same phone as me able to advise me that this ROM is much better or that ROM is for HTC and so on.
This is the reason i post this thread as I need help from someone expert like u to guide ppl like me, maybe you can just highlight a keywords that I need to search.
I thought the main reason of this forum to guide newbie for better understand on their phone or applications and has fun with it.
I am sorry if I duplicated this thread with same questions somewhere in the forum.

Hi all,
I was wondering for a while now, I followed the Unlckr guide on how to root my HTC Hero, but I didn't really get when the rooting stopped and the cooked ROM began.
So, breaking it down: -
What is the Cyanogen Recovery Image for? Is that just so we can enable the custom ROMs?
Putting in the new ROM, does that then mean my phone is then rooted? If I put in another Stock ROM (as I still haven't found a Donut update for Hero anywhere yet), will it be unrooted again?
What does Rooted mean anyway?
Many thanks if you can answer any or all these questions, I'm eager to know what I actually did
Take it no one knows or cares to clarify?
You might have better luck if you post this in the Q&A section. However, I reckon you'll find the answers you're looking for if you use the search.
Hi guys, sorry for asking such a noob question but I am new to this and it is my first post so would you guys please answer my question? What's cook room or flash rom and why would anyone want to mod the rom or mess with it? please kindly answer it.

To have the latest and greatest, or one that fits your needs better then what your service provider thinks your needs are.

No worries man, welcome to the community Chances are however you may end up with a few 'Just search!!' answers but I understand there is almost too much info to understand out there but do check out the sticky threads at the top of the HD2 rom development forum as there is a wealth of detail there.
In answer to your question: 'why would anyone want to mod the rom or mess with it? please kindly answer it.'
There are many reasons for doing this, I assume that you come from the 'HTC probably know whats best for their phone as they made it' point of view, this is not always the case.
Let's take a real simple example: There is a limited ammount of space in internal memory and the more you can get the better and some of this space is taken up by pre-installed applications and images that you may never use and some of these can't be removed simply by deleting.
This is where 'cooking' roms comes in: In order to remove those apps you have to create a new OS image (rom) without them in (this is cooking, which is generally performed by experienced people who will publish their roms in the roms forum) and then to be able to get that on your device you need to 'flash' the cooked rom (OS image) onto your device (think of flashing as installing the OS like you would windows from CD on a PC) , and viola you have a new rom on your phone which leaves you more space in internal memory to use for yourself.
There are obviously far more complex reasons for cooking roms (speed improvements, fixes, mods and changes to the UI) but in order to keep this short and simple I've used the above example. If you want to know more check the noob tutorials in the rom forum.
Be careful however, and ensure you read all the information you can search for / find in there as there are some potential pitfalls if you don't do it properly.
Thanks prime! I got it now :]

Yeah, the Moderators are gonna close this one too
You can't post these kind of questions in this part of the forum. This is only for the chefs to post their ROMs and updates.
Please repost in the General Forum and I will be happy to answer your question.
ok just posted there
Hi there,
I read through the forum, and even stopped on the 'noobie friendly' post... but.. there's noobie and then there's me I guess. The lingo used is completely out of my league... boy have things changed since 2010.......... (Last time I did something like this... it was a lot easier back in the day...)
So.. here is my issue: I bought a S4 i9500 in China- and would like to change the factory image to one that has google play. Ideally a north American or European version for linguistic purposes. I would even go with a hong-kong one if available.
I seem to have the gist of it (get Odin and a firmware) but... that's where you loose me. Could anyone help me? I would be eternally grateful
*bump*
I would truly appreciate any help... I've continued to do my research but I'm afraid I'll screw something up and brick my phone...
1. Flash custom recovery
2. Try the custom roms out here for the i9500.
It should work.

Thanks! To be honest though, the words Custom Rom mean absolutely nothing to me :/ After hours of researching the forum with apparently the wrong keywords I think I may have landed on a post that gives me a dumbed-down step-by-step. Sorry for any waste of time I may have given some people.. The world of development (or IT for that matter) is absolutely beyond me. I'll stick to teaching foreign languages me thinks...
