From my experience with my Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, VZW users will get an update about 6-8 weeks after everyone else.

Well that brightness slider would be a GREAT addition in my opinion. I also wouldn't mind if the fixed the standby battery draw reporting glitch. Also, they could ACTUALLY fix the standby battery draw so the phone doesn't suck it self dry through the day from standby.
Oh yeah, the desktop background doesn't scroll when you flip screens. Don't know if that's a glitch, but it's just stupid and should be changed.
Another thing, the phone seems to just drop reception randomly even though it's in a fully covered area. This constant drop and pick up is suuuuuper annoying when you're surfing the web or using some messenger app. Also is a battery killer as well.
Improvements can always be made. It's nice to get the updates and nice to know samsung/att cares about our experience. (For sure ATT doesn't give two ****s so I hope Samsung can persuade)

Not sure if serious...
This phone's wireless/data radio are a complete pos. WiFi drops constantly, and it's just weak. I can't even believe how weak the signal is. You guys are worried about brightness...lol .

I've personally have had an issue where callers from my contacts list show up as Unknown. My Dad, with the same GS3, called me and asked if I was having this issue as he had been noticing it as well. Also, some others on xda have reported the same or similar issues.
I called and talked to a rep at tmo and was told that it was a known issue being worked on by tmo and sammy. Not sure when (or if) this will be fixed, but I'm hopeful.

If ICS wont come out like Lg 2x..what smartphone next buy?

As we all know that LG 2x wont get ICS last week..
What smartphone after this, so i can change this atrix?

As other users commented on my thread, it's only cancelled for the Canadian version of O2X. There's still a hope for us Atrix users. And why would you change your phone because you're not getting a software update?

Phones don't suddenly stop working if you don't get some future update...
Also, it saves you money to keep it and nobody has canceled anything yet. We have an official statement saying Q3 for the Atrix's ICS update. We then have lots of speculation based on many things regarding it. So let's at least try to stick with Motorola here until they've actually not delivered on their promise.

I'm hoping there will be a new Nexus phone around the end of this year when I am finally able to upgrade. Otherwise, SGS3.

Exactly right. I've never understood this "ZOMG, no updates, must change phone now!!1!11!! eleventy !!1!11!!" logic from supposedly intelligent people. If your phone is very old, sure, I can see upgrading, but a phone that's not even two years old and has what's currently the most prolific version of Android available (Gingerbread)? A phone that, in many ways, still kicks the crap out of most (not all, but most) phones currently in the market? All because it doesn't have a version of Android that, based on what I've seen, has more than a few significant issues on many devices, issues that have been largely resolved with Jellybean (shades of every-other-Windows-release-is-crap syndrome!)? Unbelievable.

I have a better question: what will there be left to talk/worry about once Moto hits us with ICS? JB?

Just make better ROMs and Mods, and keep Atrix growing like the HTC HD2

That gs3 is a beast.. 720p 1.5ghz and 2gb ram. As I recall it lacks HDMI out but I might be wrong. My mom's got one of those after I realized it has an hd screen far and away surpassing the gs2.. plus it's got a.. I'll say lively community

I hate to be the one to say this, but you know when you go back to the root Atrix 4G section, there's a button on the right hand side that says "Search this forum", and if you select "Show posts" and type in "ZTE" and then press "Enter", you'll get around 4 pages of discussion on this topic?
As for which phone to get, a Nexus, I guess. At least if they make one with an SLCD and external storage/32GB internal... I don't really like the lower life-expectancy of AMOLED screens, and I need at least 25GB of data storage space.

Galaxy Note 2 short hands-on

Hey there,
I just thought I would share this with you people. I work for a carrier (don't even bother asking which one ) and we received our test unit today!!! It's the grey version and it looks totally awesome. The screen real-estate is just outta this world. I put it side to side with my S3 and looking at them, I became a bit pissed at my purchase as when the Note 2 was announced, I had thought that we would never carry it (ok, I've already said enough)!
I'm sorry I can' really say much but I had it in my hands for about 5 mins...! It was a 16gb model. I witnessed popup s note, popup browser (NICE), the new menu when you pull the pen out...oh yeah and this thing is FAST!
I have no idea about the release date (they wouldn't tell us), although I find it a bit strange that we are receiving a unit so soon. I've read on several sites that it would be next November...!

You must be in the united states, you said several sites said November ( that's US release month) and you said you didn't expect it so soon ( Europe is expecting it starting this Friday, going on next week). I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you work for.....sprint or at&t but I'm not sure which one

Nothing is ever certain in this world...
I didn't actually have enough time with it (5mins) to notice any potential bugs (and mind you, we only received the phone today). I can ask my colleague who's in charge of the device though to see if he notices anything odd.

I do have that info. It seems that even my employer is announcing it on its website so the info is already in the public domain. So here goes: SGH-T889V.
You won't find much when googleing that, except for a reference related to Samsung's Smartview app.

No its not because if the Apple Suite if that was case no update would have been release and no we are not going to get 4.2 as we already have 4.1.1 updates rolling out and thats what we all will get

Well that is pretty disappointing to hear. Samsung have been pushing the note10.1 here in the UK recently with a big advertising campaign, I really can't see why they would be updating older products first.

Um you guys are aware that the 8000 JB OTA'S being released already work just fine with some minor fixable glitches on everything else right?
I am running the 8000 OTA on my 8013 right now with zero problems.

Atleast i am aware... but not geek enough to take the plunge. I am not sure on what the consequenses may be and what could be done to fix them.
waiting for a legit release from samsung for my 8013... hence the pain seeing that a older model got update quicker than a newer model..

I agree. People may also see that the tab 2 is a second generation of the tab and think it is the superior product. Not everyone is tech savvy. I personally think Samsung is prepping a Note 2 10.1 to be announced in January that'll come preloaded with Jelly Bean. We may not see an official JB until then.
That's what my money is on. They just don't care about existing customers.

The Note 10.1 was introduced in August so there won't be another until next year. This is what Samsung does also with Galaxy S series, Note etc. Sorry for saying but there is no need to become paranoid due to the delay.

Looks like they just updated the official samsung note 10.1 page to include jellly bean for os. Hopefully this means it is coming in the next few days.

I really really hope that this is finally a US OTA jellybean update!
Then maybe we can get rid of all the American whingers and moaners on here who can't even be bothered to load jellybean onto their device from another region. Currently there are official JB releases for all versions of the Galaxy Note 10.1 - N8000 (4.1.1 & 4.1.2), N8010/8013 and the LTE versions. All stable and trivial to flash onto American supplied units. Easy to roll back to earlier version, if for any reason you need to.
Xda-developers forums are for "developers" and people who are interested in using all capabilities of their devices - the clue is in the name of the site!! If you are not interested in doing this and only want to whinge, moan and threaten to sue Samsung because they are a week or two late with "your" upgrade, then there are plenty of fanboy sites where you can moan to your hearts content. I bet it will drop soon. Thats usually the first sign I have noticed before I have gotten upgrad es. I think they were just testing out bugs with the rest of the world before they unleash it on us critical Americans.

Currently there are official JB releases for all versions of the Galaxy Note 10.1 - N8000 (4.1.1 & 4.1.2), N8010/8013 and the LTE versions. All stable and trivial to flash onto American supplied units. Easy to roll back to earlier version, if for any reason you need to.
Xda-developers forums are for "developers" and people who are interested in using all capabilities of their devices - the clue is in the name of the site!! If you are not interested in doing this and only want to whinge, moan and threaten to sue Samsung because they are a week or two late with "your" upgrade, then there are plenty of fanboy sites where you can moan to your hearts content. No need to clutter up these forums where people are really interested in learning how to understand their devices and take them forward.

you know what. we're not mad about the update. We're mad about the way samsung works. Its not professional. At least at this point they have to have a schedule to update and guess what they don't have that. A big company like Samsung doesnt have a plan, time line to update the devices? really? The jelly bean update rolls out for germany 2 weeks ago and they don't have any plan to update for other countries? how stupid is that? I'm buying a 500$ device. That 500$ includes after sale supports. We're buying it, not getting it for free. We're not begging them to support us. They're supposed to and have to

why would u call them? lol they're just gonna get back to you the same answer. "sorry for any inconvenience, unfortunately we dont have any plan to update, maybe we will in the future, blah blah blah. "
