Problem with connection to pc via HSPL - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello everyone...I have a TMOUS HD2 and i noticed a problem resently...every timeIi connect my device to my laptop via HSPL 2.08 and try to flash any customRUU or task29 or anything that requires HSPL, my laptop won't find the device...my phone shows connection (serial changes to USB when I insert the cable) but laptop won't find it...any other usb function works properly (charging, mass storage e.t.c) Also it worked fine a couple of weeks ago...nothing changed on my laptop since then...When I go to device manager shows my phone and says that drivers are fine...Am I doing anything wrong? I really apretiate any help since I love my HD2 and don't want to mess it up! (also no money for new device )

try a different usb port. each port loads the drivers individually, so sometimes a port can get corrupted, but the one right next door works fine. I find this sometimes happens when i'm waking the device just at the moment the pc is detecting the usb plugged in.
Also, you know task29 is rarely needed, right? if you;re just using android roms, theres only very rarely an occasion where you need to use bootloader. (I ask because i know there are people that still follow the full proceewdure of hspl, task29, magldr, partition, flash, without realising theres no need)

Trying a different usb port was the first thing i tried! no port will work.! Yes i do know that task29(i probably done it just once or two times since i got the device) is not needed but i thought it would be a breath of fresh air for hd2 with all the trouble we put it through!
thank you for replying!

If everything is working fine, why bother?
Or you mean you can't flash anything?

The second one..I can't flash anything!
I will try to change any settings on laptop (don't have anything in mind) to see if anything happens...
if anything pops in you guys head...even the most crazy idea please post.!

Uninstall ActivSync, reboot and then reinstall. Then see if the problem still exists.

Ok thats another problem that I had..I remember that the first time I connected my laptop with phone and automatically found drivers...Then automatically tried to download and install activsyng, but it showed up an error and never installed it...For now am ok since I used a friends PC to do what I need to do on the phone(as soon as i pluged the device found drivers and istalled activsync)...I will try to uninstall the drivers and try to install it manually...It should be easy to find the drivers right? I will see how it goes and post if you like...

Sorry for the late reply.
By "install activesync" I didn't mean the drivers, I meant the software itself.
Google "ActiveSync" and install if you have windows XP or earlier.
Google "Windows Mobile Device Centre" and install if you have windows Vista or later.

If you understood, you should have made a proper feedback.
Telling "I tried it, nothing works" is not helping. You need to tell us what happened when you installed the activesync. Instead of "nothing works", say: I installed activesync and I plugged in my phone, but the phone is still not recognized.
Is this what happened?

If something changed when I installed activesync I would state it! if nothing works means that everything that I've tried haven't solve my initial problem that the threat is all about...so yes this is what happened? clear enough for you now?

Okay. You said you faced this problem recently, and non of our solutions fixed it. Have you tried something simple as switching the cable?
I had this thought when I helped another guy. You may have defected your cable by mistake, try another cable and report back properly .

Odin and PC not recognizing SGS

Hello guys, my PC and obviously Odin doesn't recognise my SGS, so I can't install my new ROM (Which doesn't have a CWM version).
How can I solve this?
I tried reinstalling drivers and stuff like that, I seriously need help with this.
OMG now it is semi-bricked!!! Please help me guys, I tried again to use Odin but it keeps connecting and disconnecting the phone, so it's impossibile to complete the update and fix the phone!
Check your phone cable.. Or USB on your computer..
If you are saying that it's losing and getting connection.. That can be reason why it's semi-bricked now as you said.. (in the middle of the "odin proces" lost connection)..
Other than that, I really dont know what could be the reason, if you instaled everything else correctly..
Now for some reason I've been able to turn it on with a wipe/factory reset from the recovery mode, I was scared as hell...
But I still can't understand why it gets and loses connection with Odin...

Sorry to hear that..
I dont't know what else you could try.. Maby deinstall and again install new version of odin.. Same thing with Kies, so you are definitely shure that you have all drivers right..
(First deinstall /instal Kies - then Odin)
I'm sad, you know?
I'm not lucky at all with all this bulls...! Example: Kies stops at the main screen after I install it, tried to install it 6 times.
Odin: I have Odin3 V1... But I don't think this problem is related to Odin, only the device keeps connecting / disconnecting.

Try cleaning the USB port
Try cleaning the port/cable with an alcohol swab (Battery out of course). I had tried everything and then it was this simple thing that worked. And my phone was only 3 months old and never wet so it shouldn't have mattered but it did!
There is lots of information elsewhere on drivers, the order in which to do things etc but try this too. It can't hurt and can help.
Here is the latest drivers

I see you are using XXJPQ, this is an unknown ROM to us, root is not implemented for this ROM. It may need special tweaking. Have you tried the "rageagainstthecage" method?

yes, this JPQ i can't find anywhere, it came on kies, here in croatia.. i tried "rageagainstthecage", but stil freezes (not responding) on "waiting for device".. i'm crazy, do you know where i can ask for that tweaking or developing?

hi
try this one it works every time for me on all roms i have tried

it will work good luck
Super One Click HAS to work.
Since you updated you might not have USB debugging enabled... so make sure you do.
Also, try removing your SD card. (know it sounds stupid... but do it anyway.)

No guys, you don't get it. It's an official ROM that we haven't seen yet (At least I haven't seen it). There is no XXJPQ on samfirmware. This is the Q version - the last JP version. If these methods are not working, we need to "crack" the XXJPQ.
Alen, can you dump your ROM on an SD card and then upload it so we can see this wonder?

yeees i enabled.. and when i check drivers it says "no issue found!!" i think a problem is that JPQ. i will try tomorrow to save it and upload it.
I was having trouble rooting till a few days ago. of course, i was technically inept and kind of stupid. and though i see your problem might be a bit different because of the official ROM, but it's worth a shot.
Which version of SOC are you using? the one in the rooting thread or the latest one? the 1.7 didn't work for me, neither did 1.8 but 1.9 did the trick. Try that.
did you do the boot method? you turn on the phone while the rooting process is running on your pc and it is waiting for a device?

I had the same issue as you op, and unfortunately I don't have a good solution. The only thing that fixed it for me was flashing a different rom. I was on Jedi and it wouldn't let me connect to PC (at first, it worked fine but a day later it stopped).
Flashing another rom (mint) fixed it for me.

Not sure if serious. Jk, thanks. But I still think I could have figured out a better solution than completely ditching a rom.
I tried everything listed, from updating drivers to trying to mount the phone through twrp. Nothing worked, even re-flashing the rom, so that gave me the idea to try another.

Did not mean it that way, first troubleshooting step should be, are you having the same issue on another rom, if 2 roms have the issue, it is a more serious problem, but as you tried, it is a issue with that rom, so that person can find answers in that rom thread.
calmness sir, it was all in good meaning.

OK, I337 rooted, unlocked, Goldeneye 7/10 ROM, 3.4.0-917495 kernel, USB debug enabled, running Net10/TMo, via *#0808# set to RNDIS+DM+MODEM, and AWS enabled via *#0011# OP process (I'm now getting 14.3M downloads off H+). wifi-Kies is Titanium frozen, as is restored crapware std email client. I had this problem once before when I left USB setting at RNDIC+DM+MODEM without completing the QPST process, but all was well after I did it right. Only other change I'm aware of is that I installed the Samsung USB drivers for the S3 so I could do the same AWS fix for the wife's i747. Anyway, the Samsung don't show in device manager now, even after reinstall the S4 drivers. Get a phone beep on plugging in, that's it. I plug her S3 in, get beep, screen says connecting as media device, windows 7 says installing drivers, via windows update, and eventually gets it done, saying "USB composite, sgh-i747, CDC/ACM, and ADB interface" (as shown), much as with S4 when it's usb driver install is successful. A puzzlement for a noob, for sure; clearly it's inside the S4, as when I try usb connect into an XP 'puter, while I get the phone beep, there's no usb recognition by the XP either.

To mighty developers: Can ROM cause problems or damage USB connectivity?

Can ROM somehow cause problems with USB recognising of my SGS4 I9505 ?
Charging is fine, but can't be recognized by PC.
Shall i try this damaged SGS4 with other ROMs flashing with custom recovery and SD card, or it can only be hardware problem, so no need to try other ROMS ?
My question is simple and i need simple answer (like yes or no). I won't explain how many threads i've checked- simply i'll tell what i've tried.
1. Dozens of cables
2. Few different laptops with different OS
3. A lot USB ports
4. Cleaning phone USB port
5. Replacing with another 2 USB boards from other SGS4
6. Hard phone cache and factory reset
7. Delete all drivers, reinstall em, also KIES, Error code i receive in device manager is 43. Tried to force Samsung drivers for this device, it accept them, but gives error code 10 - device can not start.
Phone can't be recognized in all modes. Last time it was connecting properly was when i flashed last ROM with Odin. It is STOCK rom. - I9505XXUHOB7_I9505YBTHOB7_DBT-Stock ROM Galaxy s4 and it has received several updates OTA from Samsung.
I have 2 more SGS4 which connects and works fine with all cables. They have never been flashed or rooted.
Shall i try this damaged SGS4 with other ROMs flashing with custom recovery and SD card, or it can only be hardware problem, so no need to try other ROMS ?
THANKS a lot in advance !!!

PLS ! Read 1st post !
Just need to know has ROM anything to do with USB connectivity?
So should i bang my head and search for flashing without custom recovery, root and USB connectivity !? Is there any chances to flash that way another rom, an will it fix usb connectivity ?
If ROM has NOTHING to do with usb connectivity- then i'll just leave it that way! It is simple ! But no simple answer yet

Download mode is separated from the rom. So no, the rom has nothing to do with usb connectivity while in download mode. Another rom will not fix your problems.

Whenever I try to connect my phone to the PC it says "USB device not recognized"

Whenever I try to connect my phone to the PC it says "USB device not recognized"
Was thinking about copying some files from the PC to the phone when suddenly it doesn't recognize it. Could it be that the micro USB port on the phone is broken somehow? All I can do right now is charge the phone. Is there something I can work around to fix it on my own or do I have to take it for the repair?
Think you need to get it to the repair. First try another USB cable. Then you can try to get it on the other rom or factors reset it to make certain how it is a USB port & not the software even actually chances for that are slim.

Well, there is no dust in the port and I don't think that it got "weared out" or something since the phone is not that old. I was trying CM 11 and then went to stock to try something out and when I wanted to copy some files to the phone the PC couldn't recognize it. And I flashed the newest firmware from Sammobile with Odin which got out September 27th and it all started after I flashed it. The worst of all I am also experiencing some weird bugs like the wallpaper turning black when I drag apps over to move them to another screen on home which is gone after I reboot the phone. So this new firmware is for sure buggy, and the worst of all I can't get to an older version because the PC can't recognize the phone anymore. Jeez this is screwed up.
EDIT: Okay a bit more digging around on my PC and I found that if I uninstall the driver in the Device Manager that has an exclamation mark when I connect my phone the "connected" sound is played on the PC and it starts installing a driver and then I get the error message. So I guess it's this stupid firmware.

.
Shore you can, though sideload. ?
Oh, but how do I do that? I guess it has to do something with the phone's stock recovery or something.

Actuality forget it and use FlashFire instead it's more simple.

Did you try on another PC or with another cable? If you did my bet is that it's not software but broken USB connector on the phone (plenty of those on alk S3's including Neo's).
Best regards.

No, I didn't try it on a differrent PC yet but I will. As for this FlashFire thing, it says it's for rooted devices, and my phone right now isn't, since I can't connect it to my PC(it all happened the same day - had CM11 all worked got to stock had UI bugs and PC couldn't recognize it). Is there some way of rooting it without the PC? I tried some apps but none worked even tho some of them did before on older firmware.

If the KingRoot doesn't work I am afraid that you will have to get a little creative & use ADB over WiFi.

Oh dear. Yes, KingRoot doesn't work, even tho it worked before like a charm. Okay, how do I do that? (I'm sorry but I really never did any of the things you suggested here)
Puff. First of all enable adb & over tcp (wifi) in developer options.
https://dzone.com/articles/use-adb-over-wi-fi-without
Or use some of the apps.
The commands & how to use them.
http://www.androidlegend.com/how-to-use-adb-fastboot-commands-with-your-android-device/
You need to push SU bin & app along with Busybox bin (command extension).

If this doesn't help you or you don't know how to do it I am sorry but I can't help you more than this.

You can push & a older kernel image & then use kingroot if it's easier for you like that...

I will see if I can do this. If not I can try to connect the phone to another PC or send it to repair if the other PC doesn't recognize it. But then again, thanks.
