if you mean is making folders inside app drawer then you can yous adw or go launcher for that

Nova Launcher Prime also lets you create folders, and in my opinion is faster than ADW and light years faster than Go Launcher.

These apps are all good and we'll but I don't like the ICS look and I would like something permanent and not an app like a root mod or something..

That doesn't make sense, just get a new launcher. It is permanent.

Help with the wife's mt4g

Hey guys, greetings from over at the SGS4G section. My wife has a mt4g and wants some more themes... But she won't let me root it or change it in any way...lol.
So.. are there any themes that she can add to the stock rom?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
No, not without root. Your only option is to change the look of the homescreen by using a third-party launcher like LauncherPro or ADW. Those offer a lot of customization and can be used without root. Launcher themes don't change near as much of the phone's appearance as a full system theme does though.
Dxtop, go launch

Thanks guys, just wasn't certain since it came with the sense themes

yep, best bet is the hundreds of different themes with 3rd party launchers.. adw/launcher pro. If she wants wants to change the look of her icons i think anycut or bettercut doesnt require root. Desktop visualizer is worth a look ad well.

Go launcher ex is free and has a bunch of themes. Also they are icon packs u can choose if you put them on your sdcard from the themes section I believe. Desktop visualizer will let you change the icons on screen and go launcher will let you put custom icons on the bottom bar.

You can not complete such a task on stock. You MUST use a different launcher like Nova or Apex just as a couple of examples. Google doesn't allow you to modify grids in the settings. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear. Sorry.

I use Nova Launcher. It is based on the stock launcher & has that same look & feel. It gives you options like changing the number of rows & columns, hide apps from the drawer, and remove the persistent search bar.
I also use Nova. It's built from the stock launcher, plus it has LOTS of extra customization features. Seriously, just get it.
Honestly the only reason I was trying to avoid it was because I didn't feel like setting it up. But its done now and works well! Thanks

Not sure what that means, assuming we all have it with base phone, how do you access it if you change launcher?

It may be me misunderstanding. I'm thinking of using the stock launcher with a different rom,.You download the launcher just like any other app then click on ot to install it. Its on here in either the Razr M forum or the Android apps forum. I can't remember its been a while since i downloaded it.
I tried using apex and it was pretty laggy. Nova is a lot better so far but one out of maybe every 30 times I exit a app to go to the homescreen the motoblur stock launcher appears instead of nova until I go to a new screen. Kinda Annoying. Any idea how to fix?
Can I change the color of the status bar icons like the battery, signal strength and time? without root?

Well yeah nova IMO is a little smoother but apex has free gestures. And no idea about ur launcher problem never heard of that before sorry. And ugh the only way I know of to do it is metamorph which requires root. You can try super status bar. I Know it allows custom layout of items in the bar with a change of color per user preference but not sure on the icons. Try it out

What is a launcher?

Hi guys, can you explain what a launcher is. If I add or use a launcher what happens to my stock launcher? Is it running in the background, use more battery? Will it keep my app arrangement in stock saved while I use a new launcher? Thanks for all the help I've been using stock ever since I used a Nexus.
Sent from my Paranoid Nexus 4
A launcher launches apps, app drawer, home screens, etc. If you install another launcher, you will be prompted which you want to use, stock or the one you downloaded. Not sure if the stock runs in the background, but i believe your set up will be the same if you delete your new launcher. Download one and try: for example, there's nova, adw, apex, etc.

A launcher is where you find your home screens, widgets, apps, etc. If you download and install a third party launcher such as Apex or Nova your stock launcher is still there. It doesn't change unless you change it. You can do whatever you want with the third party launcher and it won't mess with your stock launcher setup. They are completely separate. It won't use more battery. It doesn't really run in the background. Sheen you first install the new launcher and press the home button a prompt for which launcher to use will come up. You can select the such launcher or the new one. You can also chose to use the option you pick just once, in case you want to test it out and go back and forth between launchers, or always if you decide you like the new launcher more.

I personally use Apex, but many people like Nova launcher. Those are the two titans. But there's a dozens of different launchers that offer different features and UI experiences.

I've used adw, long ago, but now i've been using nova and enjoying it over stock.
I prefer apex. Apex and nova are pretty similar. Go launcher is nice because of all the theme packs but has a lot of extra add on programming I don't care for like there own app store. Adw I've never really used

[Q] Organising Homescreen

I'm trying to organise my homescreen and I want to sort my apps into folders but I want the folders to know as just words on the homescreen instead of showing the folder. I don't really know how to explain it, I swear I've seen screenshots of people's homescreens organised like this. Does anyone have any idea?
You'll need to use a custom launcher mate

I have apex launcher installed and i've been looking for the answer for a few hours, i just don't know what to do.
Make an icon in Photoshop, Gimp or whatever (use transparent background and save as PNG), edit folder properties and use this PNG file as icon (download if to phone first of course). I'm not sure how does it work in Apex but in Nova it's pretty simple.
Somehow my GT-i9505 sent this...
