Most stable ROM, please help - Desire HD General

This is my first time posting on the XDA forums, but I've enjoyed the sight for years, I apologise in advance if I violate any rules with this question, its my first time posting mind your, with that aside, what is the most stable 100 percent, no issues ROM, or closest to it, I gave my girlfriend my phone, when I got the HTC one x+ flahsed it with sabsa prime v8.0, and just recently v11 and dirty flahsed v12 ota. But right now, the phone is unusable, it suffers from random resets, and the phone seems to think that its USB charging, when its really AC charging, she is giving it back to me tomorrow, and I want to have back to her as soon as possible.
Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance for the help

For 100% stability you have to use Gingerbread ROM, IMHO. I loved LeeDroid, it is really fast and stable.

First, wrong section. Remember, if you are asking a question it goes over the Q&A.
Stick with a gb rom for stable, near bug free. If you want ICS, aospX by existz over the inspire section. The only bug it has is garbled text which is an ICS issue and not due to his rom. The fix is to reboot. It happens rarely. If it happens again, just exit the app and go back in. However, it rarely happens after the first time which as mentioned before, is fixed with a reboot.

Yes, if you want 100% working you're going to have to use ginger bread. However, if certain features aren't too important to you, then pretty much any rom will do it, there are more than plenty to choose from, although my signature (which incidentally needs updating) has a few to start with
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda app-developers app

Like xxkid123's signature, I also used MIUI (GB) for ages and recommend it for no-nonsense smoothness on the Desire HD.
I used and always went back to miuiandroid_DHD-2.4.20.zip.
Be sure to know or have a backup of your APN first, so that you can type that in or restore it with any (GB) rom you might flash.
I used to use APN Backup & Restore which only fully works (including restore) with Gingerbread. You can see some instructions via Google Play.

Next thread of that kind closed. Look a bit down the list and you will find some more. One more time: These kind of threads will always be closed eventually as the experiences of the users just differ so much that there will be no result. In contrary sooner or later these threads always end in flaming.
Just try some roms, like thousands before you did, and you will find your favorite.

Recommendations please Help

I just got the eris on the 20th of july. I had heard that HTC was really good but I have started running in to problems.
I rooted and I am using evil eris rom 3.0. I noticed yesterday that the awake button started not working after further investigation I noticed I could tap on the side and it would wake up.
Also just noticed today that was getting pretty hot and using the battery significantly. only lasted 5 hours.
I am considering returning the phone as I have 30 days.
Anyone have any Ideas
Search through the forums for specific problems you are having, then trouble shoot. Have you reflashed the ROM? Tried any others? Did you do a nandroid backup, if so have you tried a restore? The phone could be complicated so if you don't want to put in the effort id recommend returning it.
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
Did you ask your question in the Evil Eris thread ? Maybe others running the same ROM are having similar issues.
yeah, I tried two other roms for a short time I liked this one the best. At first I didnt have any problems.
Are you suggesting i wipe this flash then reflash it again.
Also are you suggesting I restore the original.
Ive been searching just Havent found anything yet.
I really would like some input on if you guys think I should work through this with the phone. Are these phones reliable and such I dont mind tweaking it a little to get it right. But I dont want to have constant problems
HTC does make great phones. However, you shouldn't base your opinion of the phone off of hacking into it and modifying it (especially being a less-than-a-week-old first-time HTC owner who hasn't done a lot of footwork to troubleshoot the issues).
Yes you should wipe and reflash the rom and see if that does anything. If that doesnt help, do a restore (supposing you did a back up). Also a lot of these roms are over clocked so the phone can get hot from using it a lot especially if its on the charger.
Since you rooted your phone, you have void your warranty. Basically if verizon decides to check the software builds and whatnot and discovers you have rooted, you might not get another phone. There are threads on how to unroot your phone, so I suggest doing that before you return it if you decide to.
Also I might suggest sense able 3.1 very stable rom

Hey bud thanks for the positive feedback. Your help is greatly appreciated.
I do really like the phone. You know all that power in such a small package. Thats the reason for these forums I believe so that we can help eachother.
Ill try that and see what happens.
I really hated my eris until i started using froyo based roms.. They are a bit buggy especially the camera but well worth the effort even if just for battery life. I went from 15-20% lose an hour to 5-8% unless i use alot of data.. then its more like 10-12%.

Best 2.2 ROM

I am looking to flash a 2.2 rom but don't know which one is the best, can someone tell me which is the best and why they think it is. Also in order to flash do I just have to wipe and flash or is there something more that I need to do to go from DI18 to DK17?

Bar none, go with Quantun1.5, stable, quick, clean, and good battery.

lol i'll take a crack at that even though i'm new here and am still learning my way around.
There are several froyo roms out there right now for the epic; you can read about them in the developer's forum. Then, you should do a little bit of research - such as reading the beginning of posts about rom releases, and then maybe the last few pages, looking for other people's comments about fc's and the like. That will allow you to pick a rom that isn't too beta (that is, will be fairly stable). Or you could pick an unstable rom if that's what you want to play with - it's an open source Android device, baby! Warranty voided of course. Always do a nandroid backup first of course.
Everyone:"Of course!"
What's 'best' for me may not be what's 'best' for you. However, without saying that it's better than any other stable and smooth froyo ROM, I'm currently using VIPERrom DK17 2.6 (haven't tried anything higher yet) with some of my visual/audio mods (changed boot screen and sound, changed shutdown sound, using a battery mod). As I said, I find this rom to be stable and quick but I'm not touting one functional ROM over another - it works well for me right now as a stable, quick froyo rom. Also it didn't have a bunch of stuff I didn't want like sprint bloatware, so that was nice.
To use this rom, as the developer himself states on the first post of his thread, "YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE DK17 MODEM AND PIT TO USE THIS ROM!!" For the extremely literal out there, you must ALSO flash your epic with those files after you download them.
The developer, BThomas22x, has kindly included links to the files you'd need on his posting, which you should check out along with the postings from other developers.
I don't really have the experience here to say it without feeling a tad jerkish, but the xda forum is a developer's forum so you should probably be willing to do a little research on your own.
I know this because I'm still posting questions in the wrong places and the like
So a little looking around in the Android Development forum would show you this wiki. That's also a good place to start.
I have been doing my homework and I have seen the wiki, that is why I am now using the Syndicate ROM 1.0.2 DI18 with eXtreme kernel 1.2 and the emotionless beast theme. I just wanted to know peoples opinions as to why they like one froyo ROM over another so that when I choose to flash one I have a basis to judge my decision. Thanks, all your input is very helpful. Anyone else like a particular froyo ROM for one reason or anotherM

Quantum 1.5 fo sho
Each rom has their own features to each their own.
Ran viper for a few days, but switched to EE for now.
I'm new to the android fam as of today. But the stock version seems to do what i need it to do. I just download skyfire free out of the market place and i can watch everything the froyo 2.2 flash player 10.1 can do. Or maybe im missing something? I need yal to get me up to speed whats the difference besides speed. And please don't chew me out for asking either.

Best rom to use

I know I'm sure I saw this asked already and apologize but I'm completely new to all this and dont know what roms to use or anything. So any suggestions would be awesome. And am I even asking in the right area? Haha

You'll get lots of differing opinions, here's mine. (I know that this won't make any friends here)
None of the current batch of ROMS is solid yet. They each have a fatal flaw. I've tried a few but ended up back on stock EB13 with the camera fix kernel flashed over it. And frankly if you flash stock EB13 using the Samsung installer it's pretty good right out of the box.
And, regardless of what people tell you flashing an Epic is not trivial for a noob. Just read all the frantic posts from people trying to figure out why their phone won't boot. Before you get started be sure you know what Odin is and how to use it (and which PIT files go with which PDA files), what the difference between EXT4 and RFS is and which version of clockwork you can use with each, and what deodexed means. There are enough variable that you have to get right that a little knowledge can save you hours, maybe days of wasted time.
If you have to try one, read the WHOLE thread before flashing and see what's now working yet. If you decide that doesn't matter to you, flash away.

Good advice here.
Regarding roms, I have to say that I think the new SyndicateROM Frozen 1.0 (1.0.1 is almost out) is a solid replacement from stock. People have had issues with bad flashes (thx CW3) but once it's installed properly the battery lasts hours longer, it's incredibly quick, and has a number of improvements over stock. Keep in mind I wasn't using roms before this due to requiring the stability of stock (was on the stock rooted EB13), but am in heaven since I switched over. The rom is amazing. None of the instability issues I have had with my previous phones+roms.
I haven't tried the Bonzai rom though, heard that was stable and good as well.

Agreed. SyndicateROM seems to be the best and most stable ROM right now. That is until CM7 is done. Then everyone will burn out to Gingerbread.
By the way...did you go with Ext4 or RFS?
I have not had any issues with viper frozen or trulyepic. Trulyepic was my first. Very simple both flashy and stable. Ext4 is super fast too.

Simply AOSP is great with the Genocide kernel.
fwiw i use midnight rom 4.0. been solid for me.
different folks, different strokes....
ive been on viper for awhile now and have no complaints.. everything works for me.. looks awesome, runs great.
Also been on Viper for the last few releases. Have not had issues as of yet. You'll get quite a few opinions, but all the devs here do a great job on their roms.
Samsung Epic ViperROM 4.0.4 Genocide kernel
I intend on trying multiple roms......right now I am on the sideline waiting for some of the significant issues (ie CIQ) to be resolved before I flash. Only a day or two away I believe.
When I first came to the Epic modding world, I started off using ViperRom. ViperRom has a lot of those cutting edge, sometimes experimental, mods. The new toys (and their themes are generally aesthetically pleasing) are nice, but may cause stability issues. I then switched to MidNightRom and was VERY pleased with it. It is based off the Bonsai ROM and is slimmed down for performance and stability. No complaints there, But I am currently using the ACS Frozen ROM, and I am VERY pleased with it as well. Speed and performance all around. So far, that is all I have tried.
Everything will vary based on user, but all the devs here put a lot of work into what they do and any ROM you flash will be an upgrade from stock in my opinion.
Try Frankenstein. I prefer bare.

Awesome Recent collection of EVO ROMs right here on XDA

Found a great compilation of a very recent and updated list of roms for the evo. Saves searching if ur lazy or in a crunch. Up to 7/10/11 as I post this.

I know a simple google search might get u the same place but ever since I becomes a flashaholic I can't get enough and unfortunately my favorite (deck gingerbread) has got me filled with errors now and wake lock galore (tried the fixes don't worry, even got a crazy combo of radios and pri etc) I've been shopping around and surprisingly I am actually enjoying MikG 2.15
I thought I would never return to Sense based ROMs but hey it's smooth, fast, and I don't have to tweak nonstop to get battery life and what not AND I don't need to flash another rom just to be able to get into dialer codes.
Thanks to alChemistar for organizing these. Love the android community Compared to my iPhone.
May the hunt continue for the most options, high performance, best battery and easy yet fun interface... I know I have high expectations. Thanks all and happy flashing and as I learned here the hard way... Unless ur a pro READ AT LEAST the OP's remarks on whatever rom in regards to ateps and wiping etc. Saves you and everyone here tons of time. I have yet to ask a question here because there really is everything and if you cant find it, especially if you have a backup .... Try to figure out yourself, more rewarding. Just don't go bricking your phone. And remember nandroid and wipe wipe wipe wipe wipe wipe...and one more wipe.
If this is a repost I apologize I did a quick search to avoid redundancy

I just flashd this last night half asleep because I have been getting destroyed by deck's 1.2.1 I should have relized considering the CM nightlies were bad for me (and deck is based off them) so I needed to do gpsclrx and fell asleep and in the morning said hey why not let's see what's going on so I honestly am probably super behind on rom's. I just rooted 2 months or so and quickly landed on deck and stuck to it with the occasinonal taste test but 90% AOSP. I actually just saw that my native hotspot is locked in mik so either I find a fix, wireless tether or move on so it a learning process for us all with a lot of mix and match, trial and error. Any sense or FULLPROOF stable AOSP recs would be appreciated.
P.S. Any unlisted links to ROMs for the EVO that Aren't in the link please do post with title and date of last release and I'll try to contact the original compiler or just post an update myself. I've been known to update the long forgotten evo 4g rom wiki

But on the bright side, it is eye candy.

It always will be sluggish because Sense is a memory hog and the Hero has small memory to begin with. I personally don't run into any reboot excepts for the few after the first boot. As for calls and texts I can't test that because my Hero is deactivated. But I haven't had any issues with WiFi ever on my builds both with college WiFi up in Santa Cruz and at home here in San Diego.

Just calling it like i see it. Not knocking any work, as it is way over my head. The WIFI just kept reverting to "error", no text messages came through, but they did save to Google voice so i did find them...but when I couldn't pick up the calls, I had to abandon this one for now...
Everything else looks awesome from here!
Yea there is a sms problem with this rom.. many of my friends called me asking why I didn't reply to their message but I never received em. Other than that this rom is very nice!!
Fix has already been worked up.

Just wanted to put in my two cents on this rom. I absolutely love this rom. I tend to run aosp Roms since they are pretty lightweight for our processor and quick. This rom isn't as fast as an aosp rom can be. It does however run quick enough that I don't mind the occasional hang up or lag. I hadn't ran a sense rom in over a year and a half. But I do like this one.
I tend to only use my phone to make calls, the occasional text, and to tether my tablet which this rom seems to do wonderfully. When I was running jaybobs rom I was happy with the clock settings at 352 and 532. I have it cranked up to 768 with this rom. Never had been able to overclock that high until his kernal and was actually a major reason I tried this rom.

You would think that after being a member of xda for more than a year that I would have more than 3 posts but most of the time you guys explain stuff well enough that I don't need to ask any questions.
Just wanted to say thanks to all the developers and people that are willing to answer questions. It is always appreciated even if us "lurkers" don't let you know.
Thanks

YES
I 100% agree....LONG LIVE ZERO HERO
The RC1 zero hero kicks ass!!
probably one of the fastest sense roms for me.
how do you check to see if the cpu is being clocked correctly.
i keep using and leaving sense because the lag is insane compared to asop.

Setcpu works well. Google it and you can find the apk on here

i do use setcpu. its just that the cpu keeps fluctuating and it doesn't seem to improve too too much

Its a 2 year old phone.. your asking it to do something it CAN'T do. Fact.
I would like to just stop in and say thanks to all who have worked on this. Have not been into the droid scene for long but have learned so much. This rom is my favorite sense type rom. Small time issues that can be overlooked are fine by me. And after backing this rom up and then booting back into stock. Then using titanium backup to back up Sprint TV and a few other things. Then Booting back into Zero Hero and restoring those apps they work flawless. (sorry i have a child who likes to watch that sprint tv, keeps her occupied when im busily getting something done)
Thank you all of you guys. Out of 5 roms i have tried me and my girlfriend like this one the best.
