[Q] Overclocking but with stock ROM? - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

I have a bone stock ROM (Gingerbread DXLE1 with 2.6.35.7 kernel) and I really do like it as it is, no weird fonts and colors and such. However, I do want to be able to overclock it a bit, like the cm 7.2 stable I flashed onto my fiancee's htc wildfire. Is this possible? If so, how should I go about it? Thanks!
Additional info:
- rooted
- updated busybox
- link2sd installed
- Clockwork mod recovery not installed

Your gonna have to flash merruk 2.5 kernel use an app like no frills cpu to overclock I'll give u a link in a sec

You have to flash a kernel with any phone u wish to overclock in some cases you can overclock without 1 but it wouldn't work properly since the manufacturers kernel is designed to run at max the frequency they advertised the rom you flashed for your wife must likely came with a kernel
Yes this does wipe you're phone but will be able to keep everything else you will have to do a backup of all your data using titanium backup from the play store and then restoring after the flashing is complete
And as for the stable situation it depends on what you mean by stable is it as stable as stock kernel no is it as stable as some other custom kernels no but stable and bug free depend on you, u sometimes get random reboots that's the only problem I can think of go to the tread I have you also go to merruks original tread to see if it's right for u

dude firstly flash ur phone with merruk technology 2.5 deluxe edition #206 which is compatible for an overclocked mob..it is very stable ...and a custom rom too...go with nemesis one ... :good:
STEPS
Boot into recovery mode then flash CWM recovery
Wipe cache and data
Once in recovery mode, go to mounts and storage, and mount everything possible (sd-ext may give an error but ignore it)
Then finally go back, then go to install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard - Choose the nemesis zip file which you choose to download
Select yes when asked
Follow the AROMA installer, it should be as easy as installing software on your computer
Now choose to install the Nemesis kernel.
After installing the kernel, you are back in CWM recovery, then go to mounts and storage and again be sure to mount everything, then flash the zip file for wifi drivers fix - Click here to download.
After installation is complete, again make sure everything is mounted, flash the nemesis installer zip and then finally choose to install the nemesis rom (you may enable the reboot option once installer is finished)
After it is installed, your phone will reboot

Overclock is fake !
dude overclock is only a fake oc created to view it as 1.2ghz but ur phone wud still b running in 832mhz .........
Its just like expecting a 2MP camera to be 4MP

[CWM][DEODEXED][ROOTED][ZIPALIGNED] I897UCKI2 [Android 2.3.5]

At the suggestion of others, I put this in its own thread.
First of all, credit goes to Watsa for his work on Pinnacle. The ROM I posted yesterday was built with the Android kitchen and somehow was breaking WiFi (and root). So I used the Android kitchen to just deodex /app and /framework this time around and merged that into Pinnacle 1.3. This is not Pinnacle based by any means (ot Pinnacle tweaks or UI, etc.), I just used it to embed the ROM with rooting capabilties and edited the update script slightly.
Everything is stock here besides removing AT&T bloat, deodexing, zip-aligning, and root. The kernel and modem are stock I897UCKI2. There are NO BOOTLOADERS within this ZIP. So you must be running a Gingerbread ROM already.
I am running it right now with WiFi and root working. I was able to use TiBu to restore 90+ apps as well.

Nice work emuneee.
And on a side... checked out ur website---very good stuff there as well.

Nice work. Thanks for putting this together. Unfortunately, my office firewall blocks the server you uploaded it to. If anyone can put in on a dropbox I would really appreciate it.

In setup, make sure that you enable debug mode, unknown apps. Works great for me. I injected boogs 1 kernel, then booted and flashed the K1 K2 boogs kernel with init.d. I also injected the attached battery mod for a circle battery, just cant handle the stock battery. I can't seem to get that Powermenu that has been posted to work though.

I get it. It's flash-able via CWM (which isn't possible on STOCK 2.3.x -->d'oh.)
I flashed Pinnacle ROM on my i897 (which has CWM v4x included -- sweet), saw how awesome it is; and flashed it to my wife's (Mrs. metalchef) i897 immediately (funny how there's no CWM or rooting method for 2.3.x, yet all the ROMs based off of this release come pre-rooted & incl CWM...I don't get it)
She has since commented on how fast this ROM is (vs say... FastyIIv2, which is what I had flashed to her device previously).
sorry for the silly post. derrrr
I can haz CWM.
Glad it seems to be working for everybody!

[ROM][4.0.4] RemICS v1.1

I am not the developer, i only ported this great rom to Captivate.
ORIGINAL THREAD: Everything you need to know is written here
Captivate Version changes:
Glitch Kernel 369mb Ram
H3llstorm GPS fix
JHJV9 modem
Internal is SDcard
Removed front camera files
I ported this rom for personal use, but since it was so good and not available here, i thought it was good to share it.
Some Suggestions:
- If you want to change internal/external mount flash one of these zip with CWM
- If you want to change kernel parameters (liveOC, frequencies, governors...) use NSTools (free on Google Play)
- If you want another modem, flash one of these with CWM
reserved
I would love to flash this but every time I do, it aborts immediately. I flashed CM9 then this and still it aborts immediately. Thank you for porting it to the cappy and thanks for your work.
---------- Post added at 09:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:28 AM ----------
Never mind I did get it to flash looks nice.. thank you for your work once again.
I will give a try
Looks nice, about to flash but if we want to change kernels do we have to run the cleaning script or not?

Did you have permission from the original team that made this rom to post this?
one problem--- whenever i change kernel to devil for this rom, it wont let me read my sdcard anymore. I mean internal memory.
Thanks!
A nice ROM, thanks for it.

Possible Temporary Solutions for Merruk 2.5 problems with JellyBlast ROM

The users of JellyBlast have faced some problems with Merruk Kernel..I personally have faced these--
1. The Boot-Sound comes first at the Galaxy Y boot-logo..After playing it, comes the Boot-Animation.
2. Random-Reboot issue-Phone reboots 2-3 times a day!
3. Auto-Close and freeze on some browser. e.g.: Opera Mobile.
I increased the RAM with Swap-Partition and increased the Internal Memory with Link2SD and Partition-Problems 2 & 3 were gone-Believe me, my phone didn't at all reboot for 5 days
Another thing, you can try is keep the phone using all the time, i.e. you have to play or browse the phone all the time, press menu and back again..Keep doing it...Or better keep it connected to computer or charger..Before doing the partition procedure I tried these and it worked..The Phone doesn't reboot when it is kept connected to something..Above all, avoid keeping the phone in Deep Sleep
And another, keep the min. Frequency at 832 MHz and max. at 1.248 GHz..Thanks to Sir anmolsharma1293 for helping me!
Included with help from Sir Anmol Sharma(Thank you Sir ) : FOR THE RANDOM REBOOT ISSUE, KEEP THE GOVERNOR AS 'lionheart' AND i/o AS 'sio'......
Try these and reply if it works...

Bro the 1st & 2nd problems r kernel related and random reboot issue has already been solved....
We hv found a temporary solution for it already.....
And the boot animation thing is not a big issue.....
And my personal preference is

I/o-sio or cfq....and no random reboots....

How to remove the boot image added by GingerIcejelly?

I recently installed GingerIceJelly custom ROM on my Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102. It added a boot image (that is displayed even before the recovery menu when I boot in a recovery mode). I later reverted back to my stock ROM, but the boot image still remains. I had thought it was part of the GingerIceJelly ROM, but apparently not. If it is not part of the kernel, where is it?
Is there a way to remove it?
Thanks

flashing stock Rom via Odin should wipe it

1. I have not seen wifi and data network working together as soon as there is wifi data network is automatically switched off...
2 don't know sorry u can ask the developer
3.i guess it's got something to do with the scrolling hack u can again contact the developer for this..
4. is is usually caused by an incompatible update-binary in edify ZIPs. Replacing it with a compatible one, then re-signing the ZIP, will usually fix this error. Our another way ask the Dev or is not for your phone..
5.probably because you have modified the build. Prop file in system /

Hey,
Can you be bit more precise..We have not tried that GingerIceJelly rom so you should be able to tell the problem clearly maybe uploading an Image will be appreciable.Ok here is what i know that i thought of sharing with you.
When the phone's power is turned on the bios boots the phone to bootloader which Runs the kernel from it.And while the kernel modules are inserted, the phone now loads the rom.
So you now know where the problem is.
yes Download the bootloader and flash it.
Get your odin flashable stock and flash BCMboot.img or some file which only contains bootloader.
If you want to try changing your bootanimation click here
Thanks,
optimus

[Q]Circles after installing Cyanogenmod on Galaxy Y

Hi I am new to android. I decided to install CyanogenMod on my Indian sgy rooted and had stock rom with Touchwiz and android 2.3.6. So I got some instructions from here . Then I downloaded the file of around 120MB.I booted into recovery mode. I selected update from SD card and then selected CWM.zip I got from XDA thread. It entered the CWM and then I selected Format system, Clear cache and clear Dalvik cache. Then I selected the update from SD card and then selected the CM zip file of 120MB I had in my phone. It installed and then it showed no errors. After conformation I rebooted the phone. It showed Samsung Galaxy Y and then turned black with no Samsung logo. I thought it was doing something and then after 3 minutes I touched the screen it began to draw circles wherever I touched. I thought I bricked the phone. After two minutes I turned it off and then again got into recovery mode and then to CWM mode and got my phone back with Nandroid backup I had.
Was the phone installing and I interrupted it by touching it?
Is there any error on my installation steps?
Kindly reply me how to install this CM and tell me if you get the same and give me the link you used for installing CM
Apologies for poor english if you find any.
you installed cm9
to use cm9 you need to install whitexp kernel else you will have the track pad which you experienced
you should also know cm9 is not stable in this device - no network wifi data etc - all it does is boot

Thank you. Could you please guide me through any other ROM or thread that could
help me to install another rom. I am not asking for a best ROM. I am just asking a more
appropriate ROM that I could use as galaxy y is not officially supported by Cyanogenmod.
Also the developer of mod said to install kernel if I restore nandroid backup using CWM will I get stock kernel back.
please don't mistake me that I am asking the best rom.

no you will not get stock kernel back by restoring nandroid backup
to go back to stock rom/kernel you need to flash stock rom firmware via odin
This is because the kernels that support cm will format your system to ext - stock kernel does not support ext so your phone will not boot so you need to flash stock rom via odin to go back to stock
all roms including stock based cm7 and aosp are found in the dev section - read the op - full instructions are given there - if you flash a cm7 or aosp rom you will need to flash percys kernel first and reboot to recovery and format system data cache to remove mount errors
choose one that works best for you
