[Q] barnes and noble wifi service - Nook Touch General

I had the nook color, oh i don't know, 2 years ago i think
I'd rooted my nook color and it worked great except that my nook color wasn't able to use barnes and noble wifi service such as free books.
Is it the case for nook simple touch with glow light or there's no problem with rooting it.
Thank you for your time

Magazine Covers?

Anyone able to solve the problem of magazine covers that don't download? Barnes and Noble tech support was no help at all. This is on the stock 1.2 software.
Well, Barnes and Noble had the same problem with this months issue of Cycle World so it appears to be a problem with the file. She is turning in a trouble ticket to have the file fixed.

[Q] Deregistering a Rooted Nook color

I rooted my nook color with autonooter and am thinking of selling it. Can i deregister my device from B&N and google(market)? Could the next person re-register?

ST Glow and CM7 or CM9 or ????

Hello all: posted this elsewhere, perhaps on wrong page. lots of views, alas no replies. Perhaps nobody loves me....
***********************************************************************************************************************
After a bit of research I've just bought a Nook ST Glow in the UK. I've read forums and watched YouTube videos of rooting these devices by various methods.
I then came across some forums about CM7.
Now if I understand this correctly, and apologies if I don't (I'm very new to Nook and Android), you can prepare a microSD card with a version of Android OS, pop it into the Nook and boot from that card to access the Android Market etc. The big advantage (for me at least) is to be able to remove the card and boot the Nook back into standard ebook reader functionality.
I have spent a couple of hours reading through XDA posts but haven't stumbled upon any posts about Nook ST Glow and CM7.
******************************************
So, my noobie question is simple: Can I configure a microSD card with an OS and files that will boot my Nook ST Glow into the unlocked Android world.

Any advice or pointing in the right direction much appreciated.
Craig
You are probably reading about the bootable CM7/CM9 uSD cards for the NOOK Tablet and/or NOOK Color. Those, sadly, are not for the NOOK Simple Touch or the NSTG, which you have.
Rooting your NSTG will give you access to the Android Market. Keep in mind, the device only runs Android 2.1 Eclair, so a lot of software simply won't work. BE SURE to only follow procedures for the NSTG. The procedures for rooting the NSTG are not the same as for the NC, NT or even the NST.
Be sure to back up your device before you try anything. If you screw up badly, it can be very difficult to recover some of the device-specific info.

Thanks for the reply Bobstro. I've read a lot about rooting the GLow, and have downloaded what I think I need from a couple of excellent articles on it (using Glownooter).
To be honest, I'm only after Sudoku and perhaps a good chess program. nothing much else (I have an excellent Blackberry for all other comms etc) so the risks involved with rooting (it all seems to "cluncky") seem to outweigh the benefits.
Thats why the option of a bootable MicroSD card seemed so attractive. Ah well, thanks for the information.....
Rooting is not all that big a deal if you're cautious and follow instructions well. I've rooted my two NSTs several times each with few problems. I have only loaded a few additional apps myself. My rooting focus was more on power savings (running Tasker) and time sync (using ClockSync) when I travel.

[Q] Recently bought nc will not boot at all

I recently bought a "bricked" nook color off of ebay hoping that it would be an easy fix so I could pick up a nook color for cheap. I am not really a noob seeing as I've installed a custom rom on a nook tablet before, and almost every device I own is soft-modded in one way or another. However, I cannot get the nc to boot at all. I've tried multiple versions of CWM including the one provided by leapinlar, but I've had no luck. What should I do?

Are you sure it is a Nook Color? The not turning on is a symptom of having corrupt boot files. But it should boot with my CWM card (if charged, that is) if that is the case. If it were a Nook Tablet (silver bezel) my CWM card would not revive it. You would need a card for the Tablet.

Yeah I'm sure its a Color. I put the sd card with the image you made into my nook and plug the nook into my computer and nothing happens at all.
Why are you plugging the nook into the computer? You should insert the sd card, turn on the nook and wait for it to boot. Is the nook charged? What kind of charger are you using? If its not one from Barnes and Noble, you have to charge overnight, with the nook off, to get a decent charge.

How are you power the unit? When I got mine I had to hook it up to a decent power adapter and let it sit for 2 days. The battery was so low it would not do anything even when I hooked it up to a computer. When it did start turning on it keep looping and draining the battery, so I had to provide more power than it was drawing. Just a thought.

[Q] Nook Color won't boot on SC card

I have created an SD card for a Nook Color, Cyanogen Mod 7. Its a SanDisk, 32 GB.
When I put the card in my own Nook Color, it boots up just fine, and I was able to put my friend's information on it, and make it HER SD card, for HER Nook Color.
However, when I put it in her device, it goes right past the boot process on the card, and boots right up into the normal Nook Color area.
I put my own SD card in, which I've been using for over a year now, and her device still goes right to the Nook Color, completely bypassing the SD card. Her Nook Color seems to be able to 'see' the card, but says it can't use it/read it.
So.... both cards work in my Nook Color, but neither work in her Nook Color.
Is there something special I have to do on her device to make it boot on the card?

Yes, paint the bezel black since it is probably silver. A silver bezel interferes with the SD.
LOL.
Seriously, it is probably a Nook Tablet, not a Nook Color. The Nook Color bezel should be black. A Nook Tablet is silver and is a different device and your SD will not boot in it.
