Hi everybody,
For months I've waited around for someone to create a site, that actually holds current, useful and exportable/importable profiles in a hub.
To my surprise, nobody has attempted to create a central hub for people to share ideas/profiles for Tasker.
So I have started to create one.
I am looking for a couple of helpers :
1 - I need somebody who is EXPERIENCED, at creating Tasker profiles, and has a few to share that can be the first ones uploaded to the site so its not just an empty shell. (Also someone who is willing to create and contribute profiles for the site in general)
2 - Somebody who can create graphics so the website looks visually appealing and is user friendly.
3 - Somebody who can help my designing and implementing the site.
I hope people jump on board with my idea, and can't wait to gain some helpers for the project .
Thanks,
Wilks3y.
I am a web developer. I know PHP, Javascript, SQL, HTML, and CSS. Also the libraries with each such as jquery.
Maybe I can help you? I have experience with making web applications.

Im working on the website now for us. I'll be changing this thread from "gauging interest" to the "development thread" for users of the portal to post comments and such on this thread.
a good idea my friend, but a question:
A webpage containing info for herald users, or a kind of startportal with links?
If so, that is a good idea, because there is portals, like htc's one, but it sucks big time, there is never any new stuff there, and the links provided is not so good.
I have done alot of webdesign myself, but im a better graphics designer then a coder so if you need help, just say so
Great idea, am also a web page designer and would be glad to update the page with new links as they found.
A few basics to start with would be good such as:
blogs in mobile version (engadgetmobile,gizmodo,msmobiles,modaco...)
not sure if its possible but some sort of e-mail client would be nice such as google has done with their homepage.
ofcourse you can't forget to add your fav vidz for the week or month (or atleast what you would type to search cuz everyone uses their own means for viewing videos)
of course everyone would love to see some apps on there (i'm guessing if this became widespread you could only add freeware)
the main one would be a link to the herald forum here on xda dev (im sure i ain't the only who would use this)
Thats all I can think of now, keep us updated and I'll b glad to help with anything that I can.
Great idea btw
cheers
Yes, more of a portal idea.
I'll get to work on it tonight!
Please share links you believe would be of value to have in this portal.
Suggestions anyone?

I second those ideas! Joystiq.com blog would be awesome.
I can offer you webspace so you don't have to use your school's server. I can also register a domain. Let me know if you need anything. Send me a PM and we can discuss things. Good idea you have there.
id like to built a small, only herald based forum. if you got a webspace with php imma do my best to get a fresh designed mobile device board

Sounds good man!!!
Can you rigester .com's?
In this event, I'd like to leave suggestions open for website ideas..
www.HTCPortal.com?
Whats nice is, this could be used by ALL browsers of XDA, not just us Herald guys.
Tha1nonly,
If you would like to design a forum that will run in 320x240 that we can post messages from our device, that would be AWESOME! Let me know what you plan on doing with that, and I'll be sure to include the link in my portal.
Yes, of course. Send me a PM
Howdy, the name's Mike. I've got an idea for a comics app that I think has legs. I want to release it for the Android Market, but I'm a graphic designer and I'm absolutely useless when it comes to code. The App Inventor isn't robust enough for my needs. So, I need to hire someone who can take my graphics, concepts and instructions and make it into a real app.
I'm planning this as a commercial application (~1.99/free with ads), so you will be paid well for your work. Preference will be given to developers who can code for multiple platforms (Android/iOS/WP7), have proven development and Android Market experience, enjoy internet comics, and who can meet in person in north Texas.
I've been lurking on XDA since I got my HTC Touch three years ago, and I can't think of anywhere else I'd like to start looking for talented developers. I supply the ideas, the capital and the interface. You supply the rest. Let's make an app. Email me at aggie20x at gmail dot com to get the ball rolling.
[Mods: If this post violates XDA rules, please take it down and email me to let me seek alternatives. I don't want to make any trouble.]
I was wondering a similar thing, but a search doesn't give much.
I didn't want to make a new post, I'm surprised there wasn't a long list of devs for hire already
Please post here if you might be available. I have a rather simple app request.

Let's hear it.
Basically I just want an app for my site (see sig below) which will give the posts in a list, have a tab for comments and a tab for videos (from our YouTube channel).
My idea was it would be a way for people to say thanks (I would charge 99p for it) and it would maybe help fund further progress of the site...
Yes I'm a noob just wanted to get that out in the air but I'm planning on changing that before the summer is over. No more excuses and procrastinating. I feel so strong about this because I want to give to this wonderful community as well. So if you are reading this and would like to help me along my journey any link that will help will be grately appreciated. Thanks

What do you have to know to be able to develop. Is it similar to writing code on computers? Do you have to know a computer code language?
You can pull the IDE over at ANDROID.com

Well for this task, SamsungVibrant you would have to be able to read write C# or C++ & JAVA . . . If you know of another language I am sure that it will cross over.
If you know ASP.Net or PHP or even ColdFusion, the logic is there & it can be used. Lot of these languages do cross over, they are just platform dependent. Working on the Android, JAVA would be the common syntax. But I am no Android Dev... I do Cold Fusion and SQL & Hardware related stuff.
Give it a shot, hands on is the best way to learn.

Ahh seems like I'll never be a developer then because I don't know anything other than some basic HTML.
I don't know any programming languages
I don't even know what pulling the IDE at Android.com means
If you want to take a stab at this, please PM me

IDE means individual developers environment
It is a application just like dreamweaver and HTML editor or eclips to edit files such as HTML or Cold Fusion and C++. Eclips can be configured to edit any language.
We will need help setting up the Forms. If you want to take a stab at this, please PM me so that I can pass on the URL and give you access.
I have it up, but I am working on the PUBS to make a database connection to the PHP forms.
Try to remember this, this is all about learning by hands on....Just a select few having a good time and learning by doing.
The best part of this experience is to learn something. Break it , tear it appart & put it together.
Hands on Lab environment

IDE is Integrated Development Environment. It means, text editor, compiler and connections to source control and code review tools all in one tool.

Just a heads up, The Team Infinity forums are up.
There are some permissions that has to be set and then need volunteers to kick the tires before we start posting topics...
Will need volunteers for Mods of the Team Infinity Forums.
If anyone has experience with rolling up the PHPBB forums, please chime in.

Hi. My name is James. I am a newbie. I think I did things backwards in life. I started using computers when I was 10 years old. Now I am 29. I have designed websites with web builders , made android apps with builders, advertized, marketed, make good money daily, I know all there is to know about everything on the internet, like ,Adwords ,ping ,RSS, embeds, dev programs and more , but I do not know how to code. It is my mission to learn. I am not the type of learner who can read and learn, I need to be shown. Not even YouTube helps. Well at least not yet..
I need friends... I believe if you hangout with a certain person, then that is who you become. I need to hangout with Java coders pr android apk coders or some type. I will pay you if you have time to teach me and or check my work. I am starting fresh. I get frustrated easy, but I have good patience. Anyways, please provide a chat aim name or email or something because I find this forum to much of a pain to log in and find the answers to my questions. Xda should just make every reply into a email , and if they did then who knows how to set that up. Its just to confusing. Well I want to start with a smaller project. What do I need to know. Is Java same as c++ or what. Thanks guys
James.

If you are really interested in learning how to code I suggest you take some classes on learning the coding languages for Java and C++
In the mean time we have a forum that can help you out. There is a ton of different guides with all sorts of information on you what are looking for.
