Hello there,
Anyone has problem with Google Now on their Nexus 4 ?
I have a problem, and it's regarding the traffic card.
I'm not able to edit the home and work place from the Google Now menu.
and not only that, a weird place address pop-ed out on the work address option.
i'm not able to remove it from maps->my places.
and worst of all, i don't even know what place is that.
I've cleared all the history from the phone using my desktop and through the phone already.
and one more thing is, how do you remove location history and visited places ?
I've tried removing the location history from my desktop but it still remains in the phone.
The visited place has also the same problem.
I can't find a way to remove them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
David
To turn off location reporting you have to go into settings in maps and disable it under location settings. You can edit home and work cards on your desktop.

i seemed to have 2 issues at the moment that is really anoying me
1: the default time(clock) some how keeps going back to "my locations" no matter what other time zone i set it as, I've disabled "locations" in the device as well as applied Dutty's location disabler but all it does is remove the my location weather. every time i switch app or suspend the device it will return to the wrong time zone.
2: i cant log into any forum for some reason, ie XDA dev, whirlpool. it will log in and redirects me but as soon as i navigate to another page im no longer in log in status
friendly bump to put me out of my misery
for the log in problem try clearing your cookies....... might help.
i cleared the cookies but same issue
it happends on opera 9.7 opera 10 and IE with exactly the same symptoms but not all sites have this issue. i can log into my mobile account fine
more or less is there is registry hack so i can manually remove locations from the clock?
On google maps settings, what exactly does location reporting do? Whats the difference to the location history?

Location reporting: A global account setting, disables or enables location reporting to Google. When enabled you can have your location detected by whatever means the device has available, or set your own location manually. If you want to disable location reporting to Google, you only have to set it on one device as all devices pick up the same setting. Your location is used for customising your searches and other services.
When location reporting is enabled you may:
Report from this device: When enabled, that particular device is used to periodically update Google with your location. Typically this would be the device you have with you. If no device is set to report your location, your location isn't updated.
Enable location sharing: A global account setting, this toggles the setting on all devices. When enabled your location is shared with people you have chosen to see your location, typically used for Google Latitude. You can also manage the people who see your location.
Enable location history: A global account setting, this keeps a track of where you have been, not just where you are now. Only Google and you get to see this information. You can also delete this history via your Google account on the web. History is used to work out your home/work locations and what trips you might have taken, used for Google Now and Google Latitude.
When Location Reporting is enabled Google will then use the device to update it's own database of Wi-Fi locations. For example it will turn your phone on and obtain a GPS position then see what Wi-Fi points are in that area to update it's own database, as well as periodically updating your own location. This is why some people prefer to disable these features to avoid unnecessary battery drain.
You can stop all Google applications from using your device for location checks by going to Settings - Accounts - Google - Location Settings.
Global settings take effect on all devices and the web, for example setting your phone to report your location, then on your tablet disabling Location reporting, also disables it on your phone. So if you wanted to stop reporting your location, you only have to turn it off on one device and all other devices follow.
Hope that helps.
Regards
Phil
Yes thanks a lot. So basically, what location reporting does is just to send out loads of information to Google.
But then the weird thing is, even with location reporting turned off, i can still activate the option for letting my friends track me, and i can also still activate the location history. How is that possible when location reporting is turned off?

Yes you can still activate those settings, however as you are not reporting any location data, I think your friends just get your location as unknown and no location history is gathered. So the Location Reporting is the main switch for reporting back to Google, and the other options are not much use without Google having your location but you can still make a choice with those settings, which will only come into play when you start reporting a location to Google.

Hm ok, thanks. Also, is location reporting needed for Google Now in any way?
Can Android Device Mangager benefit from this in any way? I know that with location reporting off, device manager can still reach the phone and get a location but if it also gets location reporting data, then if the phone is off is it likely to have a more recent location from the last time the phone and location reporting was on? I'm just curious if I can shut it off and be safe.. its a rediculous battery hog.
Hi All,
I have an issue with Google Now. I press and hold the home button, get the Google Now page, and nothing else, no tiles, nothing. I have done several searches, and the voice search works, however I do not get any tiles displayed.
Why? It remains on loading and Show More cards
How long have you been using Google Now for? It took about a day or two for it to start displaying cards for me.
It may or may not be quicker, depending on your situation.
I have had the device for 2 weeks now, still nothing displayed.
Do you need to register somewhere?
As far as I know, you don't need to register.
Have a look in the Google Now settings (three dots at the bottom right, I think) and make sure pretty much everything is enabled. Google Now needs access to almost everything so it can work at it's fullest.
Sorry I can't really be much more help, I don't have the One at the moment. I'm awaiting a replacement >.<
Yep everything is ticked.
Have you enabled location services? Without location services Google Now will not work.
During setup phone asks you to about location services, lot of people turn it off to save battery and data. But it is needed for Google now to function.
Also if you use chrome or are signed into google while doing searches on desktops or mobile, then Now actually shows its real usefulness.

I have enabled local services, however when I go on Google Now, I do not have the small "satellite" displaying, like when I go on google maps. Could it be that I am inside and have no GPS reception?
The searches are showing when I click the Google Search widget, only the searches I did this morning though and not all of them, however no tiling, and Google Now does not display anything

That is fine, GPS is not required for Now to work, it just enhances it.
Go to phone settings > location access> and here you must have access to my location enabled and choose GPS as well as Wifi & Mobile network as sources.

Yep in settings, Location Access, everything is ticked, the 4 options
I guess I am one of the few that uses Google Location History, but I just recently discover that, since my Nexus Player is registered with the same account I use for my cellphone, Now location History shows me like I was in two places at the same time, which is really annoying, And I find a little silly that Google hasn't think about this.
Do you know a way to workaround this, other than disable location services on the Nexus Player?
Hello everyone. Does anyone use the reminder application? I use to put my reminders by location type when arriving at a certain location he warned. But I think since the last update last week I no longer work by location. I've tried in several different places. I have already deleted the application data but you are not telling me when I get to the indicated site. Any help or anyone with the same problem? Thank you
I've been using it for when I get to work and it triggers as I park.

yes i also have the same problem,
I've never been able to get location to work on my T-Mobile Galaxy S8.
I just set it up yesterday for the first time and it's not working.
So... I find this interesting. I will set a reminder for home and as I drive past my backyard the reminder triggers (I back onto a berm). When I set a location it accesses google maps so I have home and work designated in Maps so I don't have to keep adding addresses. I really like reminders because I always know where they are and they have a manual clear which I can't find easily in google Reminders.
Edited to add - so you can only use "here", home and work apparently. Definitely not as robust as Google.

Can you guys post that app? It would be very usefull for us, who don't own the s8!
Thanks!
