[Q] Replace the Nexus 4 back camera with LG Optimus G camera

Hey all,
I'm not quite sure how camera software works with different manufactures. But since the LG Optimus G camera is made by LG and have the same connector, would it be possible to put it in the Nexus 4? Basically is it possible to put another phones or manufacturers back camera in another phone if it fits physically and the connector is the same.

I've been looking, no such luck. I've found many other cameras on parts4repair.com, like the Lumia 920, that look similar.

Wow! great find. Does anyone know if swapping will work? Or is there some type of firmware limitation, etc etc.

That looks great, but I would love to see the Camera App. I mean the stock one looks great, but I think it lacks in features. Is that possible?

It will not be that easy, I don't think lt will work just by plugging it. But it will not be difficult for a developer to adjust the parameters or drivers to make it work with a nexus 4 rom.

Nexus 4 Black line on the left side

My Nexus 4 roted and installed PA 3.60, work fine. After one month my nexus 4 show black line on left side, at up to down 3-4cm, Fix?

Probably a hardware problem. You should rma.
Install a stock rom, lock the bootloader, then send it back to google.

Same issue here. It's not a perfect line either.
Google will replace it. But I don't have an extra $400 to just sit on hold
Download a pixel fix app & change color to grey .. That's what mine shows up the most on.. But I an always see it

It's not like you lose money... They just place a hold for $400 on the credit card. Once they receive the defective phone, they remove the hold. It never goes out from your account.

Lol really ? Wow that was cool . no Me having my own house, car, having a kid to take care of & only one with a job among other bills.
Its called life! Not a big deal... But yes I guess you could say poor ppl have internet & smart phones (data on phone..) Wouldn't I still need a phone , poor or not.

Foggish photos using Nexus 4

Hello everybody!
From what've read, I understand that Nexus 4 is based on LG phone, LG Optimus G.
One of my acquaintance bought the LG Optimus G a couple of months ago and one thing that he noticed was that the photos present some kind of "foggish" effect. It's like some kind of smoke in the picture and from he's research, he concluded that the all the Optimus G phones had this "facility". He looked at lots of reviews and he saw this problem.
So, my question: does the Nexus 4 has the same problem?
I found a site which compares the Nexus 5 camera with Nexus 4 camera here:

Look at the first 2 sets of pictures, especially the photo with the keyboard.
Is it me or the Nexus 4 photos present the same foggish effect?

2. It is NOT my display. I tried a lot of settings and camera apps on my N4 and compared the photos with other smartphones on ONE display. You should really check your eyes. Even in good light you can see a lot of distortion and the auto-focus does not work properly.

The nexus fanboys all received a different device from the rest of the world that includes a magical camera sensor!
But to the OP, the nexus 4 includes the same camera as the 8mp Optimus G model. If camera performance is important to you, stay away from this device.
But the again you're looking a 1.5 year old device that launched at a starting point of 300 bucks.
