Hi dibb_nz,
I see boot loader menu.
If I push cm-...-a500.zip file to external sdcard and go to Boot Recovery
It just reboot.
Thanks,
Michael

do you mean skrilax v8 Fastboot Menu??? This is accessed by holding volume UP and Power
IF and only IF, you have the fastboot menu you can choose to enter fastboot mode, and connect your tab to your pc
Download the recovery image at the bottom of this post and put it in the same folder with fastboot.exe/adb.exe:
Run the following commands
Code:
fastboot devices
it should return a ?
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_CWM.img
should say Done
Code:
fastboot reboot
quickly hold in the volume down button while it reboots - if you time it right it should boot to cwm...otherwise just power it down then try again
Please note again this is only possible with the unlocked bootloader

Yes. I did install Skrilax V8 unl bootloader with menu:
fastboot, boot Pr.., boot Sec... , Boot Recovery, Set... Wipe Cache
I use ADB from Android SDK platform-tools.
Never use fastboot.exe from it. I see it.
I will try.

Yes to get cwm or any other custom recovery the bootloader has to be unlocked first.
You have the unlocked v8 bootloader but not a recovery i don't know why you don't have one?? I'm confused!!
To get cwm now you can reflash the v8/cwm package
Or use fastboot method...
Hope that explains things better!

I used
V8-UNL-ICS-HC-bootloader-MULTI-cwm
and
APX_v0.4A-flashTool-500Manager1.0.2
I don't remember which one was finally.
Now I used fastboot flash recovery with your recovery_CWM.img.
Thanks it was work.
I did install
gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip and
cm-10.1-20130105-UNOFFICIAL-a500.zip
It was success.
But I have CyanogenMod logo loop
I can't enter
What I did wrong?
Can I fix it?
Thanks,
Michael
I did it.
After factory reset and install it again.
It is working now.
Thanks everyone,
Michael

Hi everyone. I'm getting tired of all the threads around here like ''nexus s bricked, help''. So I thought why not write a guide how to unbrick your Nexus S
What you need:
-Ubuntu. I would choose the USB version so you can boot it on a USB stick. (get it here: http://www.ubuntu.com/download)
-AdamOutler's great livesaving unbricktool (get it here : http://code.google.com/p/hummingbird-hibl/downloads/list)
-If you installed ubuntu, download java and install it.
-USB cable for your NS.
-Windows with the fastboot drivers installed.(if you dont have them get them here: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-new/ and download the zip which contains the fastboot drivers. Or use his tutorial how to install the drivers on windows. (same website.))
I am NOT responsible for any damage to your computer or phone. You are using this guide on your own risk!
Step by step instructions:
1)Install ubuntu on your USB stick
2)Set it up and download Java
3)Run AdamOutlers tool (the latest one)
4)Select nexus S from the dropdown menu
5)Plug in nexus S, with volume up and power button pressed
6)Click resurrect
7)You should now see the fastboot thing in the resurrector (the android with a talk bubble)
8)Open ubuntu terminal and type: sudo reboot
Do not turn off the machine, it will lose the fastboot mode! when you reboot the usb power is still on so it will stay in fastboot mode
9)When the computer is off and will reboot (in my case I quickly removed my usb stick with ubuntu on it) and will turn back on, press F1 or F2 to get in to the bios.
10)select boot options and make the HDD the primary boot drive.(or just remove the usb stick and it will automatticaly boot into windows)
11) press F10 and it will save and boot into windows.
12) if you followd the steps above, the search and home button are on. (still after the reboot)
13)on windows you have set up fastboot i think.
14) download a stock OTA package for your model
15) Extract bootloader.img, boot.img and recovery.img from the OTA zip, and place it in your fastboot folder
16) Run fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
17) Run fastboot flash boot boot.img
18) Run fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
19) Run fastboot reboot-bootloader.
20) When i typed reboot bootloader nothing happened, so I unplugged my phone and plugged it back in..
21) Then I saw the battery charging icon(thank god ), so hold volume up and power button to boot into bootloader.
22)Boot into recovery and flash the gingerbread OTA for your model.( to be safe that if you power it off and on again you're bricked again(some users reported that). So if you flash the gingerbread OTA it will write it correct. Correct me if I'm wrong.)
23)After that select reboot. After your phone is turned on, power it off.
24)Hold volume up and power to get into the bootloader, and select recovery.
25)once in recovery select wipe data/factory reset.
26)reboot and everything should be stock.
Now you're at the stage you have to re-root again and etc.
You can also flash Clockworkmod recovery then.
And dont be afraid that if you flash other roms that you'll get bricked again. (Happened to me but im all ready now and back in the game, haha)
If anything is incorrect in the steps above, please say it so I can correct it.
Thanks

I too get the injection failure message. I think the issue is that USB debugging is not enabled? Would that be a possibility.
If not, what could it be, and how did you manage to fix it?

Yes I did. I followed the instructions to a tee, but for some reason the injection failed.
I have a feeling it's because my bootloader is locked. I have tried, in vain, to unlock my bootloader but whenever I do it freezes once I press 'YES' on the unlock screen.
I think that this is because my phone is not set on usb debugging mode. When I type 'adb devices' into command prompt, the phone is not recognised.
Any help?
There is no ADB in the bootloader mode, only Fastboot commands.
You should try over and over until it's recognized by the unbrick tool.

If you can get into fastboot then download cwm recovery as a .img file, then make sure it says fastboot usb on the white screen and type.
fastboot-windows flash recovery name_of_file.img then power off the phone and power it back on and see if you can then get into recovery if that works you can then use adb push to push a zip to the phone and flash using the newly written recovery.

You have to unlock your bootloader again.
UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER
WARNING: UNLOCKING YOUR BOOTLOADER VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY.PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
NOTE: Unlocking the bootloader will Wipe/ factory reset your device, and will delete all personal data from your device such as apps, photos, messages, and settings.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Make sure to take a backup of your entire device data.
Download the Android SDK OR Download the Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Install the latest Motorola USB Drivers on your desktop. Download here.
Put your device in fastboot mode (power off, then press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously).
Open Command Prompt on androidsdk/platform-tools/ (Hold Shift and right click and press open command window here)
Connect your Phone to PC
Type this in the CMD prompt window - fastboot oem get_unlock_data
You will get a return string. Copy it. [Right Click-Mark- Mark the text by pressing the shift key-Now press Ctrl+C]
Paste all the lines together in a notepad. Remove the empty spaces.
Now go to the Motorola Site.Sign in using your Google account or Motorola ID. Scroll down the page and paste the copied string in the field at step #6. Then click on ‘Can my device be unlocked?’, after which a "REQUEST UNLOCK KEY" button will appear at the bottom of page.
To get your unlock key, select the ‘I Agree’ option. Note: You will receive an email with your Unlock Key at the email address you used to log in there.
Important – Copy the 20-character key that Motorola sent you via email. Make sure your device is connected.
Then in CMD type: fastboot devices (To check your device is connected)
Then type: fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY
NOTE: In above command, replace the word ‘UNIQUE_KEY’ with the unlock code that you got via email. Then hit enter and the unlocking process should begin. Wait for a while and soon you’ll see ‘Bootloader Unlocked’ warning on your Moto E.
To relock the bootloader:
Go to Fastboot and give the command fastboot oem lock

Buddy since I tried to flash using qualcomm tools it flashed a new system ( with no display) so now it's currently on the welcome page n I can't go ahead.. I can't navigate using touch because screen is blank..
Just wanted to ask if I flash a rom with oem unlock enabled before hand then will I be able to unlock bootloader?
Have u tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/oneplus-solution-hard-bricked-device-t3183449
There's not much u can do since u don't have adb access and ur bootloader is locked.
All I can say is to try different recovery packages an hope it work [emoji106]

Yes...
But normally any rom u flash, u will still have to go in settings an enable it.
The only way u can flash rom is via the recovery tool. The recovery tool also installs twrp recovery. Since ur bootloader is locked it probably brick the recovery.
If u get a rom to boot successfully proceed in unlocking the bootloader.

Well lastly try booting into fastboot then run the command " fastboot continue " and see if u can boot into recovery.
If not well u will have to replace the system.img and boot.img in the recovery tool with another rom.

But buddy his bootloader is unlocked where as mine is locked :crying:
Did you wipe data partition? No one told you that before, so I'm curious. Do it from recovery (you didn't tell your recovery is dead, so...).
Had this issue, when I forgot to wipe data after switching roms.

If recovery does the same, this is a hardware issue.
I guess you are from India, so take your device to a service center. In case your warranty has expired, go for the 3T, replacing the mainboard does not worth the money.
Hello friends,
After trying different roms and kernels there always comes a time when we wish to go back to complete stock for a smooth reliable experience. Here's a detailed step by step guide for this process.
This guide assumes that you are on a unlocked bootloader with TWRP recovery installed and want to revert to complete stock
This will erase all data on your phone. Hence first BACKUP!

Hit thanks if i helped.
Before this came out I tried the reversal process incorrectly by typing fastboot oem lock as the 1st step (I know it says above you need a brain). Now it seems there is no OS to boot to. I can boot to TWRP and fastboot but my computer doesn't see the storage. Is there a way to push the the rom zip and stock recovery image to your phone via adb? If so what are the commands?

I believe you should be able to go into twrp, go to sideload mode. Then the command would be abd sideload filename.zip This should then push the rom to your phone and install it for you. It has been a while since I needed to do it, as now a days I mostly keep my phones stock and locked.

Thanks but that doesn't seem to work.
Link for Stock Recovery is down. Please help
Nice guide but isn't step 10 unnecessary, since the stock ROM will overwrite TWRP with the stock recovery anyway?
Thanks for the info. My phone's been acting very flaky since I rooted it, so I'm curious to see if returning to stock will make it a little less annoying.

sometimes it doesnt and hence before we relock the bootloader its necessary to ensure we have the stock recovery hence the step.

My problem is, although I still have TWRP and fast boot, I don't have an os at the moment and need to get one via adb somehow.
I've tried adb push but can't find in TWRP. My computer doesn't see my phones storage either.
