[Q] How to Upgrade from ICS 4 to ICS 5 - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi.
Can any1 help me.
Dont know how to do it.
I tried copying dload(with ofical 3.2) to sdcard and power phone with +/- & power, but it stays in the pink screen
thanks

Make sure you have copied the particular folder to particular location. The dload folder should contain only one file "update.app" the location should be f:\dload (where f is your sd card). If everything is correct go to recovery and format the cache partition. (only cache nothing else and try to reboot and update with 3.2)

I did it.
Just upgraded without wipes or cleans.
Is the 5.18_entropy working fine?
thanks

yes working fine till yet but..m not liking it.. may b i will move back to CM9

My friend just brought a new one and update to 3.1,can I copy the rom from his unit to sd card, then use it on my machine.
Thanks
Jimmy
Do you have stock or custom recovery?
If you're using CWM recovery, you need to make a modification to erase all data
see the CWM thread (OP) for instructions:

Just had a thought that might help you. On your tablet, go to apps, settings, privacy, and unmark "backup my data". Let it sit for a few minutes then hit the Factory reset option.
I do IIf that doesn't work the file you'll need is the "Acer_A500_1.141.07_4.010.11_COM_GEN1". It took me forever to find it and when I did it was buried in a post. "Search" XDA or google it. I can't upload it as the file is too big. Ive tried to find it again and couldn't. If I do, I'll post the link.

Seems like it don't recognise the sd card. After i remove the card and put it on galaxy it will add a folder name lost directory on my sdcard
Any idea.
Thanks
1. Did you try the unmarking backup method? Did it work?
2. Your SD Card should have at least 2 files on it: Lost Dir and android secure-which is a hidden file.
I cant remember if the Acer_500 file needed to be decrypyed or not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14209794&postcount=1
You need to pull the update.zip and put it on the root of SDcard.
Read these 2 posts. These are where I got alot of info. Thanks to all these reference posts and files.

How to clean the internal SD card? A500

Hi, I've used my A500 tablet for almost a year now and downloaded a lot of stuff that I've uninstalled by now. I can still see folder that is associated with the apps I've uninstalled. How do i get rid of all these folders and files? Don't want to delete something necessary for the system to work.
A fresh dumb of the factory internal SD card would be nice!
// Webspirit
If you have not rooted your tablet .. Nothing you delete will mess up the system. As a non rooted tablet has access to such stuff..
1.You can delete the folder..
2 .. you can totally reset your tablet..
GO TO SETTINGS.
Privacy .
Reset Factory defaults ..
also you can hold the vol toggle with screen lock on. while powering up. once you feel the tablet buz release the power button and toggle the screen rotation back and forewords ones This resets tablet to default .I am however not positive it will clean those orphan folders.
Others will tell you for sure just watch this thread...
if you are rooted there are more options thru cwm..
good luck..
no, that wont wipe the internal SD card

i was not sure as i stated ..I know it will kill personal settings..
I have had issues removing orphaned folders as well as the op.. but i just use cwm and format all partitions.. then do my fresh backup on system before i installed any apps.. then use ti to put the apps i like back.. i can go from flash to up and fully runny as i like in 30 minutes.. desktop icons and all..
you need to do a hard reset :
When tablet is powered off do this :
- hold and press both power and volume UP (do that with one hand)
- get a finger from your other hand ready at the screenlock switch
- when the tablet vibrates release the powerbutton, hold the volume Up button an switch a couple of times the screenlock switch (all at the same time, i know its a bit tricky)
if succesfully done you will see small white words apear in the upper left corner, saying : wiping cache etc.
this method is called a hard reset and wipes everything of your tablet, even your pictures, documents or whatever you have stored on the internal SD.
Hope this helps.

Run one of the A500 RUUs roms. This should cook all information from the tab. Note that they are HC 3.2. You can find them in the Sticky Thread in the Dev forum. I think only 2 or 3 to choose from though. Note, these will clean your tab, and I'm not sure which Com Gen they are. But you can OTA to ICS.

Ideos X5 not open !

Hi.
- I had ideos x5 with Ics Aurora (2.2).
- After with no backup i changed services.jar
- Then when i open my phone, always reset and starting again.
- So im open on clockworkmod and try restore to android 2.3 version
- While restoring app give an error and restore can't finish.
- After i restart phone. Then bad ! Clockworkmode can't open.
- Volume + and Power button > Pink screen but only external sd card shown
- I can't reach internal sd card for changing system files.
- Now android can't open with any process, always reseting. and clockworkmode can't open.
Please give me a idea. I'm fully desperate now !!
Have you tried installing 2.3 the normal way without using a clockworkmod backup? Grab a copy of b526 (or whatever one you prefer), put the dload folder on the external SD, the boot the phone by holding volume +, volume-, power.
That's what I would try first.
tried..
yes i tried this.
- HUAWEI_U8800_Android 2.3 V100R001C00B526G001 i downloaded.
- put in external with dload directory UPDATE.APP file.
- and open v+ , v- , power.
- pink screen coming but updating never start !
- always pink screen ..
Have you tried accessing the pink screen through Linux? I find sometimes that the phone can be a little more responsive to Linux than windows.
Thx a lot man
Thanks for all replies man
- Finaly i copied bootloader.bin to external and also copy firmware update.bin to external.
- when starts with vol+ vol- and power now installing firmware
No worries. I looked this up a bit more and it turns out that 2.3.5 has a locked bootloader, so you would never have been able to access it in pink screen anyway. Also learnt that I need to study a lot more about how my phone actually works

HELP Nexus One Wont Start

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED. THE BELOW IS IRRELEVANT.
I am running CM 7.0 and recently I tried to change the font for the lock screen clock. Seemed fairly simple. Here is what I did and the end result:
- Added new font in form of .ttf with name of "Clockopia"
- Saved a back up of the original Clockopia to my sd card.
- I count replace the original because of permissions.
- After changing permissions I replaced the orgin clockopia with the new one.
- After exiting the file/root explorer, the phone started to re-boot.
- However it wont get passed the CM7.0 boot screen.
- I restarted the phone and still get the same result.
Any help would be great. I am using a Mac, no android SKD installed. I got CM 7.0 installed from a friend, but he is un-reachable at this time.
-Thank you for any help you can provide.

Well since your ROM is outdated anyways now you may want to download CM7.2, dont fret its easy, copy the zip to the root of your SD Card (You must have a SD Card reader) and put the SD back into your phone, and hold down the volume down and power keys and you get into HBOOT (dancing androids on skateboards) press the volume down key once to highlight Recovery then press the power button to enter recovery, once In recovery use the volume keys to navigate and the power button to enter, select 'Wipe data/factory reset, confirm and warnings of data loss and continue to wipe, go back to the main menu and and select Install From SD Card select choose zip from sdcard and select your CM7.2 zip and select yes, after it installs go back to the main menu and select Reboot, then your phone should boot into Cm7.2, (you will have to set everything up again)

Thanks, I actually just did that. I used AROMA file manager to check system files from recovery mode and discovered that for some reason all my system files had vanished (probably because of me messing around in there earlier). In any case, I just cut my losses and re-installed CM, updated version of course.
Lesson learned: no more playing around with system files.
Thanks for your help!

[Q] Huawei U8800 - DEAD!!? NEED HELP, PLZ

Hi,
Sorry my english but im from portugal and don't speak to much english.
I need a HUGE HEELP with my Huawei Ideos X5 (U8800).:crying:
I will try to explain:
After try update, the update fails and the phone "died" (bricked, i guess), but i searched about the problem where and got success ("U8800 Software Upgrade Guideline"), the phone "wake up" and got me to blue screen and pink screen (power + Vol +).. but then i dont know what do next and do ****
I mess up the partition and deleted some ones (the little ones), and the phone "died" again, but this time the steps that i used on the first time doest work any more. I try everything and no success :crying:
I'm a beginner in android, but this time i mess up , right ?
Is any solution for this ? To recovery the partition ? Don't know, need help. Can someone help me ?
my u8800 die after this ?
(I attach a "example" of the partitions i delete on windows 7 "disk management". Delete 2 or 3 partitons, i guess)
Plz answer me
What are the contents of the sdc1 (/cust partition with image folder inside it)?
The partition table looks fine though. And what do you mean by "died", just shut screen off? Try doing the update while attached to USB, or even without battery (using USB as power).

Thanks for the answer ,
I mean, my phone (huawei u8800) won't turn on.. is dead .. won't respond.. i guess that because i (dont know why) deleted some partitions "unallocated". And after that the phone doesnt turn on again.
the attachement that i put on the first question is just a example of the partitons.. before i mess up my partitions are like the image i attach. you understand ? sorry my english
I'm not dev and i send my phone to technical service two times. First time; dark screen, no respons any bootloop etc. and came back to with new main card because it was damaged. At second time was same as dark screen, no bootloop etc. and came back with new updated rom b528.
You must calm down.
Do you have b518 or higher version? If you answer is yes go to copy it sd card. But you must create a folder with named "dload". Your update.app must be inside "dload" folder.
Infact when you look at your version, u will see step1 folder. If you look in, you will see dload folder again. Copy or cut it and then paste to main directory.
Just relax, drink water or what if you want .
Replace your battery. When you connecting cable to pc or some have usb plug doesn't matter (tv,DVD player). IMPORTANT!!!UNINTERRUPTED POWER SOURCE. When you connecting cable to SOURCE you must press power button, volume + button and volume - button at the same time. If your problem is only software this is your medicine; DON'T FORGET IT: IDE(A)OS NOT DIE.
Thank you #dzo, #Blefish, #forumber and other dev.heros
(not to djuanight whatever)
Sorry for my poorly english.

If you deleted mmcblk0p2 (/dev/sdc2), then it's done for good (you deleted bootloader partition). The only way to fix it is through hardware modification, and we haven't covered yet how to do the software part yet. The "unallocated" parts just show Huawei's faults in the allocation. Ideally, there would be no such space between these partitions.

There's always JTAG, but our phone has 6 test pins that are used to check the phone's motherboard to see if all connections are working. One of those pins had to be shorted, which would let the phone turn on into QHSUSB_DLOAD mode. However, we haven't got farther than that. It's a risky procedure aswell.
The repair shop can use JTAG if they know, however most of them will just replace the motherboard for a nice fee.

Huawei's out of the new models:Huawei honor 3 c
But do you still get to the pink screen? How did you "delete" those partitions?
the above in Portuguese
Mas ainda consegues chegar ao ecran rosa? Como é que apagaste essas partições?
There is no need to panic.
This happened with me also.
I guess you have tha dload folder and put the official update file into it.
Connect the USB cable to PC(I don't know what it does but it works).
Press VOL+, VOL- and POWER key
It will start installing.
Try both the official Huawei roms 2.2 and 2.3 in this way.
If if you have managed to get the pink screen. Try different recoveries and ROMS.
For me I put the following recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288223
And tried different Roms but only Cynmobile worked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044617
And after this I could flash the official Roms as it is.
Hi all,
Some days ago I tried to modify my system partition to have more free space to install jb roms.but when I tried to install the zip for the partition ,it failed. Now when I try to install the official update, it failed at step 2/2 just before the end.also if I connect the phone to the usb without battery it shows the image I attached. Can I do something or I bricked it?
