Hey, if this is the SBK file we needed then we can revive our bricked Atrix, right?
It's not a SBK file, it's a way of getting one. Provided that the method described actually works.
hey, has anyone got the SBK? Is it possible to revive hard bricked atrix!!!!???
what can we do with a SBK?
being able to unlock the bootloader on newer devices or to rescue bricked devices?

I will try this. only problem is I don't remember how to use adb. I am looking into it. has been a while. I am rooted with one of our cool new bootloaders that no one has figured out how to unlock yet.
step by step starting with installing adb would be great
I received an email about a soak test so i will not be messing with phone for a while.
Guys, I know chances are very small, but did anybody actually try this software? It would be interesting to know.

I tested it but it just shows me that my SBK is fx00000.... I don't remember how many 0
But I think that wee need completely rebuild kernel for hacking SBK not just patch in kernel
Anyone have an update on this yet?

Moved to general.
Sorry for my bad english .
This method only tested on m7-U and UL .

How is my question not related? I asked whether a more stable ROM would suffice, because nightly builds are by definition prone to regressions.

He can only know if it works on the rom he used so you can try out on a stable Rom if you like to test. If all your doing is installing to Soff it doesn't really matter how unstable it is, it's gonna be wiped afterwards.

If yes, do it again. Your image shows that your phone has freezed I think.
Do it again.
I had this problem when I was on sense roms.
I must say some times during firewater process phone freezes.
Restart your PC one time.

I just tried the following method without success (check details in the original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096)
maybe someone else might try it, to double check.
furthermore, I'm hoping to get an answer from the author / developer if it might be possible in the future.
ok, seems like the method above is outdated!

To whom it may concern (my English is not so good you should just try to get the meaning from the context )
I don't think this is a valid way for the Yoga Book. I compiled the dirty cow Exploit for the Yoga Book but it does not work. I used this code to execute it on the Yoga Book : https://github.com/timwr/CVE-2016-5195/blob/master/dirtycow.c .However this does not work on the Yoga Book : It will either not trigger the expected result to be able to overwrite an RO file or the yoga book just reboots.
There are a couple of developers also confirming that the existing android dirty c0w exploit code does not work on their intel tablets.
So we need somebody with more skills to modify the exploit c code for the intel tablets or another exploit. .....
If somebody has a link to an intel exploit I will test that.

does anyone know if it is possible to dump the bootloader and or recovery without root access?
it would greatly help to build a custom rom.
i was searching a lot but couldn't find an answer or a way how to do it.
or is there any other source out there, where we could get a full stock rom???
Ok, now that I got hands on a flashable stock rom update with the images of recovery and boot partition I 'dare' to port cwm. Honestly, I've never done sth like that and my experiences are litte, so my hopes are actually low.
If anyone can and/or would like to help, this would be highly appreciated.
If it works, it will definitely take its time.
Hope for the the best and plan for the worst.

hey there,
looks like I got TWRP working. It's definitely an amateur's work and I'm still not sure if everything works as expected, but so far it looks quite promising.
By now I was able to to backup and restore.
At the moment I'm trying to flash su - but without luck so far, it either hangs with a black screen when booting or root isn't installed properly.
So, I will play around with it for a while and report back soon.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Why do you need to unlock the bootloader just for rooting? The default bootloader allows flashing a zip and adb access -- the issue is that I cannot find image files with rooted /system/bin/su - any help?
I was trying all methods to Root my ASUS ZENFONE 3 LASER ZC551KL burt all methods failed.
If anyone from Master Developer here know to root that, Please tell me...

Is anyone here compiling TWRP recovery for this phone? As I understand it, TRWP is open source and up to the individual to instigate. I have never compiled before. Had a few days of coding classes for web design... But I am willing to do the work if I can. I did not buy this phone for the ZenUI... it has much potential, yes. Anyone here able to give me tips on how to start this process? I want to do the work, just dont know how.

Good luck dude, and don't stress about bricking your phone, just backup your recovery partition beforehand and you can always flash it through fastboot mode.

Alright, great to see there is demand. Thanks for the nods guys. I will be working on compiling TRWP for OmniROM during the mornings PST, until noon. Right now work means researching what it is I am actually doing, L! So far reading up on the AOSP site and OmniROM wiki and will follow the TWRP guide posted here on XDA. I will update here in a week with my progress. If I think I can do it, I will start a thread on XDA to follow and a GIT repo.
I think all I will really need is the device information to plug in to an existing tree. So thats the angle Im taking, if theres any tips please pass em on!
Thanks again!

@ biaeuaer
Mate, any update on TWRP?
Crikey! This is not for the faint of brain. So, I hope you all realize how noob I am. This is going to take me some time. I cannot just pipe info into a file, here. I need to understand what the file is, what I am piping - because this device is obscure, no one has made this easy yet. I only managed about 5 hrs of research time this past week. But focused I was and now realise that in ordrr to do this I have to start a build environment and work with aosp, to know what I am doing. Step by step.
Sorry its going to take a while! Hopefully will get a good hard day in this week on top of my mornings.
What I am endevouring to understand:
- what is a flag? how to I make on?
- what is a make file?
- how to get device tree out of firmware file
- what exactly I do after porting and flagging and making
- how to do this right - so that it works with omnirom I hope to compile as well.
Mate,
Take your time.
