[Q] Smartass governor does not use Clk 4 - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I own a Defy+, and after various updates to Quarx's 2nd-boot roms, I've noticed this troubling issue.
Whenever I use the SMARTASS governor, the phone will not use the 4th clock speed, no matter it's value.
Other governors are working perfectly well with the 4th clock speed, but their performance is infuriatingly impaired in contrast.
I appreciate any help you might offer.
P.S. I currently run Quarx's 5/12/12 CM10 build, I've run every version up to 31/12 and then downgraded to 5/12 as the signal issues appeared.

[Q] Wildfire Rooting Questions

Hi,I'm new to this forum and even newer to rooting.I recently just rooted my wildfire and have several question regarding it.I am currently using Wildpuzzlerom(the latest one with the transparent lockscreen,I can't remember what version)
When I overclock it,my phone constantly freezes up,is this normal and is there anyway to fix this?(I don't overclock it too much, just to about 600+/-)
What's a radio and how does it affect my phone?
I followed this guide(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=891595) to partitioning my SD and instead of 165mb i only got 103mb.Is this normal?(after restoring all my apps I've got about 30+mb left)
Thanks for all the help in advance
Hi.
Which kernel have you flashed? Or do you have the one inside the ROM so you didn't flashed any kernel after the rom?
And what app do you use to set frequencies?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
been running wildpuzzle v.08 at 691max 245min set on performance with set cpu, not one freeze
if you use 130 kernel wifi hotspot will not connect
if you use 055 kernel frrom 8.0.11 thread wifi hotspot all good
ok,I've been using WildpuzzleRom v0.8 with "0130_kernel_overclock_jacob_2.6.32_v1.zip" kernel and overclock with setCPU at about 610+/-. It keeps freezing up and lagging even at 500+
Is your min value also 600+/-? If so, reduce it to 245 or something similar. Apart from that, several users report that setCPU istself is the source of instability, and, using Overclock Widget solved this. (Not verified by me)
ok,so what is the recommended Kernel to install(I have no idea what the differences are in kernels are,so just the most stable one will do) that is overclockable and stable and what is the recommended overcloking rate/range?
There is only one kernel so far for the Wildfire, and that is HCDR.Kernel. All other kernel's you see are modified versions of this kernel.
This kernel itself is very stable with no issues (on v4.1). However, as I said, some users have issues with the SetCPU App, and, they prefer Overclockwidget to SetCPU.
Recommended values would be around ~600-650 MHz Max, and ~245 Min, and, remember to create a profile for screen off with settings at 480-245 or something similar., when using SetCPU.
ok,thanks for the answer, now for the other questions
As I understand it radio is the lowest part of your phone software. It affects your signal reception (wifi, gps, phone). Battery consumption can change as well.

Cyanogen 7.0.0 lag when turning screen on

Just as the title says, but here's some more details.
I have my cpu set to 1.1Ghz during the normal day 245Mhz min.
I have my widget on my homescreen and a custom profile set for when the screen is off for 368max and 245min.
When I turn my screen on and unlock it, it lags on my screen and says 368 max, then it jumps to the 1.1 and everything is fine.
It seems to lag there longer than it used to, has anyone else noticed this problem.
I used to have Pershoots Kernel on 6.1, do you think if I put Pershoots Kernel back on it will eliminate the lag and switch to 1.1 faster than it does now?
Just some thoughts and advise would be great, thanks guys.

I would ditch setCPU and use CM's built in overclocking settings. set your clock speed to whatever you like and use the ondemand governor.
your screen wake lag will almost certainly disappear and I bet your battery life doesn't change a bit. you can play around with it, of course, and find what's best, but I have found that since CM introduced built-in overclocking, it is more functional to use it instead of setCPU. my battery life hasn't changed a bit, partly because when the phone is in an idle state it is underclocked by default, and also because I don't have setCPU constantly having to think to make changes to my clock speeds and governors based on what profiles I've set up.

[Q] CPU Behaviour

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forums, althought i've been around for some time now. I'm not an advanced user at all and my english is not that polished so sorry if something I write is weird, I'll put everything as clear as I can.
I have a red lens defy that currently has CM9 installed. This would be my second attempt at having CM9 on my phone. I installed it first on march, but had to many problems and reverted to CM7. One of the problems I noticed the first time through CPU Spy was that, out of the three different speeds that the CPU has (300, 600, 1000), it was only running either at 300 or 1000. 600 was barely used (less than 1% of the time). First I though that maybe 600 was too slow so I changed it to 700 in bootmenu. This didn't help and the phone was overheating so that's when I decided to flash CM7 (cm7.2 rc1) again. With CM7 my phone has definetly been running cooler, however sometimes it would start heating up even though I wasn't doing anything to complicated (for example, using the web browser or gtalk for a long time). So I started monitoring the cpu again and found out that the cpu was still running only either at 300 or 1000 (though mucho more at 300 than with ics). Now that I have flashed CM9 again (120605 nightly), things are much smoother than before, but the problem is still there.
I've been looking for possible explanations and solutions but - maybe because I don't know how to formulate the problem when searching - haven't found anyone that has this problem. If any of you knows or can think of possible fixes to try out, please help me out.
Deep sleeping is not a problem, btw, CPU Spy says the processor is asleep most of the time. Also, I haven't been running any scripts, kernel tweaks or anything out of the ordinary either.
Thank you all, I might not be actively participating but I like this forum a lot (reading it everyday!), and the people and devs are all great.

[Q] CPU OC randomly returns to stock frequency

Hello,
I'm using N7 16GB with rooted stock 4.1.2 and Trinity Seven Kernel (from alpha 160 to 180).
My problem occured on all kernels so far. I've used different tools to change the CPU frequency like (SetCPU, System tuner and others).
After I OC the CPU to anything from 1.4 to 1.6 after some time it allways fallback to 1.3 after a random time period, without any faults, resets, SoD's or anything. Does anyone knows why is this happening? How can I solve this issue?
The same for me..

stock kernel emui 5 kernel is messy

Waiting for an update since the beginning of the year, i'll possible try to migrate to RR. The stock kernel doesn't work as it should. It keeps changing min freq to max freq, behaving as performance governor (not all the times, but i already saw it a lot)
I tried to control it manually, but without success. The phone keeps lagging where it shouldn't (not too many apps loaded/opened. C'mon, we have enough RAM for basic daily usage).
Anyone tried anything with success? Bother to share?
