Bought my nexus 4 in Germany and now tried a swedish sim-card (telenor) but all I get is "no simcard". The exact same card works perfectly on my old sgs2.
umm, doesn't the SGS2 use a regular size SIM and not micro-SIM which the nexus 4 uses? Odds are you're probably already aware of this.
I've tried a 'foreign' SIM card and it worked fine on my phone (Etisalat from the UAE on a Canadian bought phone).
Yes it does I'm using an adapter for my sgs2 Same card though.

Perhaps the adapter is the problem, making the connection between the Sim and phone weak, etc.

he would probably use the adapter on the SGS2 and not the Nexus 4.
Best bet is always to test another SIM on your phone. I doubt it is an issue with the phone but that is probably the best way to find out.
Not really sure of what else to suggest. Like I said, I've tried SIMs from different countries in this phone and they work fine.

Yeah an adapter for the nex4 wouldn't make much sense.
I don't have another swedish sim, but my german one works without problems. Maybe I should ask a buddy.

**updated: ok, that is fixed... inserted a sim card that was not activated by mistake.....
Now, my new question..... I did root my nexus one, then I rooted my galaxy tab...... is there any reason to root this just yet? Or wait for custom roms/overlcock/kernels! Thx!!
Also, unlike my desire hd... it seems to have the edge speeds automatically... I did not have to put in the apn settings? cool, but why is that?

Long story short, my friend drove down and bought 2... problem is, I fear they are not factory unlocked.... I put in my sim card and it says no sim installed, emergency calls only?
It also came with a tmobile sim card, which I thought was odd.... so if he drove 6 hours, round trip.... just to buy a locked phone? Are we screwed? heh

They all come with T-Mobile SIMs.
Maybe these handsets are locked to U.S. carriers, i.e. T-Mobile and AT&T..

Hey There,
Great Post. Seems good to have people already sharing useful information like that.
As a personal request though. Your signature size is a bit unreasonable. Could you please consider resizing or doing something else about it?
Thankyou
I want one if the price difference isn't too bad.
dual sim card sounds interesting, I'd have no need for it though. lol deftone
If it has the same specs as the Note II this will be a dual sim 3G world phone. Are there any other Android dual sim 3G world phones out there?
I wouldn't have a need for one but I guess it could come in handy if i wanted to put a prepaid sim in it.

Maybe, look on Google for ROMs for a regular device with a dual-sim variant. For example, the Galaxy Pocket and the Pocket Duos. They have the same specs just like the Note 2 and the Note 2 Duos do so look to see if anybody has flashed a Pocket ROM on their Pocket Duos. If they did, then I guess it would work.I think you can probably find it in a couple of days. Or you could order from China Mobile, the carrier with the device, and have it ship to you.

http://www.chinamobileltd.com but it is probably like like any other carrier site. I have T-Mobile in the US and you can buy phones online.
Dual SIM Note 2 would be awesome for a backpacking holiday. Local SIM as primary, with home SIM as secondary with its super expensive roaming charges. Each time you change country just swap out the primary.
I wasn't sure about Note 2 vs Note 1 but with 64GB internal, 64GB SD, dual SIM and Seidio case with kick stand and holster it will be an iresistable killer combo
Adding decent GPS App with locally stored maps and an external range boosting antenna would make it the ultimate travel phone

Sounds Good!
does anyone know what dual sim entails? can you have 1 sim for mobile broadband (with telco provider a) and 1 sim for minutes, SMS (with a separate telco provider b)?
both reading at the same time. the note 2 knows which one to use and when? so you don't clock up data on the wrong sim, and calls and SMS on the other?
thanks
The "classical" Samsung DuoS phones (at least mine and others I had in hand) let you choose a primary card that is used for everything by default and a special button that allows you to choose the secondary SIM card before making a call or sending sms. Web connection and other services always run from the primary card. Changing the assignment of the primary card causes a reboot.
Both networks are actively receiving calls/sms.
How this one is (or would be) done is hard to tell, not many people had it in hand (if it really exists). Unfortunately, probably not many people ever will.
Personally, I need two networks, so I carry a "phablet" without SIM plus classical DualSIM phone. DuoS Note would be cool.

No, i don't think so.
so year 2012 and they can't even do what seems to be simple. one uses data, other using everything else. option in an app lets you choose what what simcard does? zzzz

Did you try inserting the sim when the phone is off ? When I inserted the sim, the phone was on and it would not recognize the sim even after reboot.

How do you fix your issue?
Thanks for the help?
Did you use a sim cutter or did you use scissors ?
The sim needs to be completely flush on the tray.
Remove the sim and turn off the phone. Insert it, and power it on...

could be that i damage the sim slot or the module? how can i find a solution?

I have to replace my AT&T One X+ today and am looking to get a Nexus 4 on my way home from T-Mobile, will my SIM just plug in and work? Or will I have to do anything else?
It most likely will but you may have to enter T-Mobile's APN in settings if it doesn't show up.
If your Sim is a standard size SIM then you will h ave to cut it down to a MICRO sim to fit into the Nexus 4. if its already a micro sim then you wont have a problem other than just using the tmobile APN settings.
NO. T-Mobile Nexus 4's are NOT factory unlocked. You have to buy it from Google if you're an AT&T user, and it does take micro SIMs.
Edit - OOPS. Sorry all.

that's factory "unlocked", but when i inserted my european micro-sim card in USA T-mobile Nexus 4 it woludn't accept, even some people wrote that for them worked USA T-mobile Nexus 4 in Europe, with european sim card!
I hope someone will have some good advice, to solve sim unlock for USA T-mobile Nexus 4.
Tnx!
****update
it was problem with micro-sim card and pin issue, tried with another sim card, and no problems, it's unlocked, and fixed gsm signal very fast with working micro-sim card here in Europe !
Apologize for wrong info!
So I just got a nexus 4 from a cousin in the US that brought it to Mexico for me, I am trying to use my microSIM from my note2 but it will not read it, my carrier here is Telcel and if I got to movile networks and search for network operators it does find mine (Telcel) but it will not read the SIM, any ideas what it could be?

I think its not fitting properly in the sim tray.
remove it and fit it properly in the tray or else I doubt you need to order another micro sim from Telcel.
