Wipe cache - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I wipe the dalvic cache and regular cache will it erase the powerhal I flashed? I tried a new kernel and don't like it so don't want the powerhal also.

Nope, doesnt uninstall anything just deletes system cache aka what the system keeps in short term memory to be more efficient.

What do u mean wiping a rom?

I have a question in my mind.
How do u erase the cm7 and install cm9 ....
Wipe data/factory reset.
Wipe cache

Yes do that all but before you go back and reboot I believe the last step you need to do is go to install zip from SD then go to your cm9zip file and then flash the zip then reboot the phone!

After wiping cache and data, install zip from SD card where zip is cm9 rom of your mobile specific kernel, then reboot....this time you will get cm9 bootanimation.

[Q] Who can make a tut about Wipes

Hi,
I mean, When it can be usefull to Wipe Cache and/or Dalvik or I don't know.. ^^ for example after flashing a new nightly, if it can make the phone faster.
or when it's totaly useless to wipe something,
it would be very cool, thanks
Actually full wiping is only necessary while switching roms. And dalvik wipe when installing mods or kernel updates (quarx). You can actually do dalvik wipes without any bad consequences-Android just generates the cache again

What I do... After I downloaded kernel of course lol.. Is go into recovery then wipe cache partition and wipe davlik. Flash the kernel then repeat the two wipes and reboot.
Never had a problem.
