I just over clocked my nexus 7 GPU to 700/1465 is it safe? I'm using M-Kernel a28 @1.4ghz performance and SmoothRom 4.2 any help you would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Even 1.6Ghz still safe. But I prefer 1.5Ghz because it gives more battery life.
Press thanks if helped

Its been noted in a few of the Dev threads that of speeds over 484 on the GPU generate a lot of heat and can cause problems longterm for the gpu. With that said every device is different but I'd keep that in mind and watch out for signs of GPU problems and clock it back down if needed.

hello guys, i wanted to ask if somebody has already run some benchmarks on 4.2 like antutu etc. to see if 4.2 brings any performance differences to 4.1

Benchmarks don't really mean much, i can say gaming performance has improved a lot

Actually, gaming performance on 4.1.2 was better for me.

Games are a lot smoother on 4.2 for me

for me the 4.2 is much slower.
Is it?

TricksterMod always shows that even after gaming for 30 mins or so CPU temperature does not go beyond 60'c
Stock kernel or rooted??

I personally have not seen the temperature hitting 70 till date..i have been using it since last december...
Any specific game in particular???
Have you tried the lean kernel??
Any ZRam tweaks??
After playing does the temperature stay around 70 or it drops??
Cheers

I never used tweaks or the lean kernel and games like mc4 and dead trigger make it get to 70 degrees or even 72 or 73 but when in watch YouTube it doesnt. Do you know any good Oc settings?

I personally prefer the lean kernel and OC at 1500 and change the Read Ahead buffer size to 1667 .... Min at 102000 interactive governor even running benchmarks using Antutu and quadrant temp does not go beyond early 60
I do play a few racing games but not the ones you mentioned but have not seen it go beyond 60'c

5529 is decent with this kernel.
How about the battery temperature???
What is the total up time for your grouper?
While holding the nexus do you feel the back rubber getting hot??
I did notice it at times but after flashing to lean kernel it was no longer there..
Cheers

I normally switch that on for playing asphalt or EA racing and while flashing ROMs and checking benchmarks (more of a placebo than anything else )
While browsing or tweeting i switch it off

I was messing arround with overclocking and undervolting. after f*****g up my app data with a "bad" undervolt I had a look at overclocking and I get over 100oC and still rising running at 1.7GHz is this normal? I have a fast binned chip
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Also getting over 80oC on stock!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Well the bar only goes up to 100
What does that tell you.
Bring down your oc dude.
The CPU safety threshold is 110.
Meaning if it gets to 110 your phone will shut itself down to prevent damage
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Thats all I wanted to know ... But 80+oC is insane for stock!
After undervolting its 75-78oC but that 3x more than my gaming PC!!! (And 2x the GPU temp)
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Well what are you doing to cause this heat. On both screenshots you are showing Max load. Max CPU freq at quad core. Of course your CPU is going to be overheating.

if you wanna go mental with O/C, you should go for watercooling or liquid N2
haha, although I did apply thermal compound to my galaxy 5 and it was a lot cooler (it has a metal thing that is conveniently over the CPU

While gaming (or what ever you are doing to get it that high) have someone stand behind the phone with an upside down can of compressed air blowing on the back of the phone. This should help.

Does anyone have a link to their benchmark scores on the Nexus 7?
Geekbench preferred, others are fine too, but I'd like to see GB.

Nexus 7 2013 4.3 Seems fairly identical to stock 4.3 Nexus 4 but it also looks like there are some tweaked improvements to the memory architecture.
Dunno if this is still relevant, but here is so,e updated scores.

At the same clock speed of the Galaxy S4, you get the same benchmark result.
One more hint that this S4 Pro is just an underclocked Snapdragon 600, no more, no less.

I have an S4 and I don't think there is anyway my Nexus 7 can hit an 11k quadrant or a 26k Antutu at 1.9ghz. I believe there must be something else different like ram or something. Otherwise I would agree it is an underclocked S600.
