I have U8800 Pro version, I have managed to root it using SuperOneClickv2.2. On Windows 7 you must run it using "Run as administrator", otherwise it won't work! Then I have installed free version of Rom manager from Market and flashed recovery console 5.0.2.6. How can I flash 5.0.2.7 (where can I get it)? Rom manager from Market only contains version 5.0.2.6.
I have downloaded MIUI from first post, renamed it to update.zip. I have copied that file to the root of the internal sd card (the one that is build into the phone and can't be removed) and on external sd card. But I'm keep getting message:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Any help is appreciated. I really want MIUI on my phone!
And the last question. Is there any better recovery console for U8800 Pro? RC on my HTC Hero was way better
Geno, Many thanks! Can You also apply Multilang for this ROM like You did for U8800?

In CWM advanced>reboot recovery and your phone will recognize sd card.

Put zip in the root of your external sd card and do what I wrote before.

I have finally managed to install MIUI on my U8800 Pro phone. But I have one BIG problem.
My phone shuts down every time when screen locks. If I press power button once, it shuts down instead of locking the device.
Did someone else experienced the same problem?
I'm forced to go back to stock ROM, because phone is unusable in current state.
Procedure I followed is described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369453
i want to go back too but how you do it??
thanks
I simply did restore from recovery console. You did backup before flashing new ROM?

i did it already.
thanks.
it's nice rom but...
so! you've just rooted your HTC Desire Z (HTC G2, HTC Vision), and you S-OFF'ed it.
now you have Clockworkmod recovery, and an old Froyo Android ROM. want to upgrade? do NOT use the normal OTA update (don't use the normal "check for system update" button), because you may risk losing root, and have to re-root your phone.
NOTE: "►" is what you should do, "►►" is a comment on what's happening.
Preparations to flash a ROM:
►first pick a ROM from the Development section
►put it on your sdcard, it should be a zip file.
►make sure PC10IMG.zip isn't on your sdcard. (delete it, or put it in a folder)
Click to collapse
Booting to recovery:
►go to settings, power, and make sure fast boot is off
►turn off your phone: by holding the power button, and choosing power off.
►press and hold the volume DOWN button, and press the power button... keep pressing the volume down button until you see a white background with text on it.
►►you are now in HBOOT, or Bootloader.
►►now to flash your first ROM, you'll have to go to recovery to make the installation
►press volume DOWN to select "RECOVERY"
►press power to select it
►►the phone will now boot to recovery (Clockworkmod)
Another way is to use ADB:
►Plug your phone to your PC
►check that USB debugging is on, in settings, applications, development.
►open cmd on PC
►type the following:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Click to collapse
OPTIONAL Full Backup:
►►in recovery please do NOT use the power button for selections. please use the trackpad.
►go to backup and restore.
►press the backup button.
►►this will backup EVERYTHING except sdcard, it will backup your apps and their data, your settings, and your themes/launcher customizations. just in case anything wrong happens.
►►backup will take about 5 minutes.
►►at most, this will take 1.5GB in size (i had sense, and 200 apps installed).
Click to collapse
Wiping, and flashing the ROM:
►now go to wipe data/factory reset, and wipe your phone
►►this will wipe the /data partition on your phone, to flash a new ROM.
►go to the first menu, and select install from sdcard
►press choose zip from sdcard
►locate your ROM, and select it
►select "yes" and click it.
►►it will start installing.
►once finished, go back to the first menu, and click reboot now.
►let the phone boot (give it about 5 minutes).
►finish the first setup.
►and reboot.
Click to collapse
Congrats you have flashed your first ROM!
Troubleshooting:
Bootlooping:
►►is your phone bootlooping?
►go to recovery as shown above, and wipe your phone.
►OPTIONAL: reflash the ROM as shown above.
Click to collapse
No Gmail, Playstore, Google account:
►find Gapps HERE
►►GB is Gingerbread (2.3.x) ICS is Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.x) JB is JellyBean (4.1.x)
►put the Gapps zip file on sdcard
►go to recovery
►flash the Gapps zip file

Converting to EXT4 file system:
Lots of ROMs now have EXT4 support, EXT4 file system is faster that the old EXT3/2 file systems. the converting process is easy. but be aware that converting to EXT4 requires a FULL WIPE!... you have been warned
Installing 4EXT recovery:
►► To convert your file system to EXT4, you'll need 4EXT recovery, which will replace the old Clockworkmod recovery.
►►this is done by installing an app called 4ext Recovery Control.
► download, and install the app
► click "Online install | upgrade"
► press yes when the app has detected your CORRECT device (Desire Z / G2)
► install one of the RC recoveries available. don't install the ones labeled "testing" or "reference"
►► you can choose between classic, and touch recoveries... i'm using touch, so i'll be guiding you through touch recoveries.
► click "install"
►► it will download the file required (a .img file in the root of the sdcard)
►► it will flash it for you.
► now go back to the main menu, and press "Power Menu"
► press Reboot into recovery, and Do it!
Another way to flash 4EXT is to download it from HERE for free.
Click to collapse
Now you have 4EXT recovery.
Switching to EXT4:
►► now that you've booted to 4EXT, let's convert your file system to EXT4.
► OPTIONAL: Make a NANDROID Backup by going to backup | restore, and clicking "backup.
► click "Tools"
► click "wipe or format -> EXT4"
►► this will switch you to EXT4
► if you made a backup, click on "convert or change a backup -> EXT4" (may not work)
► if you didn't, just reflash, reboot and enjoy.
►► switching to EXT4 doesn't format your sdcard...

Speeding up GPS/AGPS:
►► One of the main reasons to root an Android phone is to speed up the speed of the GPS lock
►► This happens by changing some text in a file called gps.conf in /etc/ or /system/etc/
► get a file explorer with root support (root explorer, ES file explorer is good too)
► you'll have to replace your gps.conf with a new, tweaked one.
► go HERE, pick your country, and download the file inside the folder.
►► if you didn't find your country (like me), pick the country that is the closest to yours.
► put it on your sdcard
► open up your root explorer
► copy the file
► go to /system/etc/
► mount system as R/W
► paste the file, and overwrite it with the old one.
► now change it's permissions to rw-r--r-- by holding on it, and clicking permissions
► change both owners to 0-root
Click to collapse
Testing results:
►► The main purpose of the test is to make Android learn the new gps.conf file.
►► this happens by using an app that controls GPS and AGPS.
► download GPS test HERE, and install it.
► open it, go to menu-settings, and press clear AGPS.
► OPTIONAL: reboot
► after clearing AGPS, and while connected to the internet, press Update GPS.
►► you'll get a GPS lock in about 5 seconds
► leave the GPS locked for about 10 minutes for Android to learn how it works.
►►this method will get you a lock in 5-15 seconds with or without internet connection.

Remove Music Lag on AOSP/MIUI/AOKP ROMs:
Problem:
► Music hangs for about a second repeating the last syllable the singer says. even while the screen is turned on, while it's charging, or while it's overclocked to 5GHz
Click to collapse
Explanation:
►► this usually happens when on AOSP/MIUI/CM/AOKP ROMs and not Sense ROMs.
►► what is happening is that the buffer size for the non-Sense ROMs are set too low, so the music player gets to a point where it has to play something, but that "thing" isn't loaded, so it'll have to wait until the buffer loads it to play.
►► all of this happens is under a second, but this lag is VERY annoying, especially if you're on a headset, and the volume is set a little high.
►► the solution is to set the buffer size a little (or a lot) higher.
Click to collapse
Solution:
► Download PlayerPro or PlayerPro Trial.
► Download the PlayerPro DSP Pack.
► Run PlayerPro.
► Go to Menu-Settings-Audio.
► Enable "DSP pack".
► Click "Audio buffer" and set it to Large (or Very Large).
► Click "Audio priority" and set that to Maximum.
►► Now you'll have to always use PlayerPro for music playing, because it's the only Music player that is compatible with the DSP pack... but it's worth it.

Thanks to BlackICE Team for the GPS files.
Thanks to all the users for teaching me those things.
Good guide. Simple and straight forward.
Maybe you can add something about repartitioning to 4Ext. This is a major improvement on every ROM.

"wipe or format -> ext4" wipes every partition, and converts it to ext4... so you don't have to double wipe.
EDIT: that reminds me, i should add a 'reflash' step.

Does anyone know how to manually set the audio buffer size higher? Or is playerpro the only way??? I'd like to see this work with other music players.

5) reboot
6) same for other ota (pass 1 to 5)
Install OTA update in number order (OTA 1, OTA 2...)

I tried this steps yesterday.
Full working for me, the rom is very smooth & fast.
Just some force stop to Phone process and PIN Dial pad not working.
Some people say fix this flashing "modem" & "csc" via ODIN.
But i'm not really sure.
Sorry for delay. Hope this help someone else.

I'm having the same problem, and another ones... the customized keys (1 and 2), Backspace and Enter keys doesn't work, the camera can't be used in 3.15MP and most of apps doesn't install, just keep saying "downloading"
for problem with device/hardware keyboard, please copy keylayout and keychars from your stock rom into jellyblast (System/Usr)
dont delete the existing folder in jellyblast, just replace the existing files. the flash the modded jellybean rom again.
your keyboard will be working, overall keyboard function is ok, but i cant get symbol button working yet..
im using this, almost perfect but phone application looks bad because of the landscape view of our phone.
for camera, you can replace it with camera.apk from your stock rom. (system/app folder)
update: just wanna share, cant copy camera from stock rom, becuase stock is odexed. so, to get 3.2mp camera working, i downloaded ported jellyblast rom for galaxy mini pop plus, extracted it,copy camera.apk from system/apps and install on your phone.
suuchi, for 'apps doesnt install' problem, u need to remove a2sd or disable it before flashing the rom.
found today out position sensor not working properly..horizontal calibration wont help
update: got it working already, need to copy sensor file system/bin and system/lib folder from stock rom.

im not sure which sensor file that responsible for screen position, so i just copied all sensor related file ..hehe...
the files are
system/bin
- atx
-memsicd
system/lib
-libacc.so
-libsensorservice.so
-libaccsensorcal.so
-libaccelcal.so
-libaccsensorcaltest.so
what i did was, using the root explorer (setting - mount / and /system as writable is checked) delete all the existing sensor file, then copy paste, because the explorer cannot replace the existing files.
then i set the permission back..to enable 'read write exec' for all user group...
then restart the phone..
you will notice horizontal calibration app wont show the correct position (maybe you need to replace horizontal calibration app also), but your sensor is working by using sensor diagnostic (dial *#0*#)
bro do have any solution for dialer/phone app not displayed correctly?

Wondering if a clockwork back up could get me back the kernel?
zip not opening
brothers whenever i try to install zip fro cwm , it gives error like zip opening failed.
i hv installed the zip package of jelly blast without deleting boot.img nd it didnt give any error while opening zip but after installation i was facing half screen error.
so i m assuming that when i delete boot.img nd re zip the file at that point i m doing some mistake.
is thr some specific zip format or compression ratio which i should have to consider while zipping it?

When you download the Rom zip do not unzip it... Open the rom zip in winrar or 7zip and then delete the boot.img file from the compressed zp

yes you can. if you have backup your stock rom using cmw, you know the combination key to recovery? press vol up + home + power on
then select update zip from sdcard, select cmw.zip -> restore
or you can take out your sdcard copy the correct jellyblast zip, with deleted boot.img. reflash again, bro make sure you have disable/removed a2sd for smooth installation

technically speaking - what du you use to deodex? I just found out, that virtuous ten studio has an option to deodex files automatically and it seems to be less picky than xUltimate that throws errors every ten files
if temporary CWM fails, maybe we could use frapeti's method for first deodexed JB files? - ie. running a PC script and push/pull files while in recovery (or manual way - go into recovery, connect your phone via USB and push/pull files either from shell or using totalcmd+adb plugin)
People this way Is much easier which Agaado has given.. and finally all the P users can enjoy the jellybean goodness.. have fun... custom roms will be coming soon!

If you don't have any idea of it i will try probably tomorrow...

rather no, because it relies on replacing whole framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk, as the icons and color settings are stored inside. most probably you'll get into a bootloop or you'll create a .cwm flashable file that unzips the .apk, replaces the desired visual stuff with target pics and xmls and zips it back - have found some of those in other forums - like this one: http://db.tt/XGxAaydN from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840290
or you try replacing whole /system/app and /system/framework - but then you'll most probably use NFC or you get bootloop

So do you think that there is to "port" also themes?
Sorry but i cant try what you said because i'm not an expert of modding... But this summer i want to study

I use XXLQB firmware and NewFuture2 rom in my i9070.
I tried XXLPD deodexed rom (without Nfc.apk & NfcTest.apk) in my i9070 phone.
Worked fine. I tried call, sms, camera, voicerecord, gallery without FC.
I used 10 minutes and then put it back to the TWRP backups.

I'm no expert, either. I base it on expierence with GB roms - trying to flash /app and /framework folders from suppressed or jetmod over stock-9070P rom caused bootloops. the other files (ie libs and so on) don't match framework files so it's highly possible the system won't start, but it's worth trying - if it doesn't work, try the whole rom in GB "porting" style - replace /system/lib/tee folder from stock JB i9070P rom
to be precise - themes are stored inside important system files, and themes on i9070(P) forum rely on replacing these files. so expect problems if one just blindly try to replace them

Wow so it's probably possible to do the the same with i9070P with custom rom for 9070!
But i'm too fraid to try that :S
P.s. it's a great risk if i try to flash cocore kernel 5 or 4.4 on 9070P?

Mmmh.. i don't know how to do and it seems risky... I know that with GB kernels work on 9070 ans 9070P (but for exemple cocore causes high battery drain).. maybe if kernels for JB works in the same way on 9070 and 9070P we will have another confirm that roms are very similar...
Sorry for the english
I hope be clear in my messages :S

If you want, be the first to try it! But I think it does not work. The kernel is very specific.
Before do a full backup with CWM.
If the kernel does not boot, put XXLPD firmware with Odin.
Next do restore everything with CWM.
I'll consider the idea... But i'm afraid... Hard brick is smiling to me :S

Use wp mod.ko...I'm currently using it.....
Backup your cell before doing this
Do step by step very carefully....Or else, you'll have to flash the backup
Then try root uninstaller app

i already have done wp.ko method ... no profit.... it doesnt work... when i uninstall system app and reboot it come back again.... sdfix and root uninstaller is not working also........
after activating wp_mod.ko with insmod-command you have to do another command in terminal as su :
mount -o remount,rw /system
now the wp_mod.ko takes effect und you can edit /system (carefully)
after rebooting the device /system is writeprotected again and you have to renew the command
greetings

Do below steps for a permanent system write access
Do step by step very carefully. After this, install root uninstaller(Search Google play). If installed, uninstall & reinstall after this.
1 install TWRP
2 Boot into twrp
3. Select the "Mount" option on the main menu and tick system
4. Go back to the main menu and then go into the "Advanced" option. There will be a "File Manager" option
5. Navigate to the folder you saved the .ko file in and copy it (just touch the file and it will bring up the menu)
6. now navigate to /system/lib/modules and copy the file there by hitting the "select" button on the bottom right.
7. Navigate to /system/lib/modules and insure the file is there. Now touch it to bring up the menu. select "Chmod" option and enter in 644
8. reboot the device
9. Once booted fully open up Terminal emulator and type:
su
insmod /system/lib/modules/wp_mod.ko
10. Once that's done open up a file manager app with root access and mount as r/w and navigate to /system/etc and look for the file install-recovery.sh*
11. edit the file using a text editor, adding the line insmod /system/lib/modules/wp_mod.ko towards the bottom of the file
12. reboot and enjoy r/w on boot without running the command every time.

Thanks for the reply, man, but is there any tutorial I could follow those steps? I mean is there any videos or somehow? because this seems too much complicated to me, as I am still new to android world after getting addicted to Nokia mobiles..

Yeah, it runs smoothly epically. I didn't face any lag problems except for asphalt 8. It just lags on high graphics, but works fine for both medium and low..
Still waiting for someone to help me doing the up procedure. :/

Might just be bad luck for me, but my headphone jack stopped working, my sim card slot broke, and my SIM card spring broke. Also I didn't like the limited storage and awkward buttom placement.
