5 important reasons SSGS2 is better than Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why a 2 year old device (less because of the X) is far better than a Nexus 4
1. USB "OTG" allows you to use external disks, keyboards and other things. NExus 4 doesn't not have this.
2. the SSGS2 x has a removable battery, as the phone ages you don't have to put up with bad batteries, you can charge your batteries on a charger when in places with power issues like say Cambodia traveling, you can carry a few batteries when you get on a boat or a 5 day hiking trip
so you can hope to depend on your device GPS to save your life.
3. You can use SD cards for storage. Maybe your a DJ an like to carry your music collection on a few SD Cards, this is handy because with an
adaptor you can use these SD card direct to a laptop to transfer files fast or to use them without your hand held. Yes removable storage works great as the SD can work on different machines for different reasons, you can transfer files very fast with removable storage.
4. The SSGS2 x has a plastic backing that makes it at least 50% less likely to break the expensive glass when your drop your phone.
5. The SSGS2X is very easy to repair components, say your camera breaks, no problem, buy a part and fix it yourself, everything is held together like a regular mainboard.
:good:
THis is why i am getting rid of this NExus 4 i got sucked into and looking rationally at a phone as a tool and noticing that it isn't as good as older phones.

Funny, why yes I do drive a 15 year old imported from japan Delica diesel. It is far better than most new 4x4 it has better MPG and it cost me less to buy. You really couldn't compare them to say a ford 4x4 and if you wanted a Diesel. It has every feature that any new car has, and far more,
it is a better car and every Delica owner in Canada knows this.
Good comparison !
But USB OTG is like buying a new car that said it has 4x4 but it is DOESN"T ! LOL
A Nexus 4 is a cheaply made, fragile phone that can't do anything an older Samsung can't do ! But there is plenty of things a samsung can do this can't.
Remember how awesome it was when you figured out you could now plug a full size keyboard, a thumb drive or another phone into a Samsung ? Nexus 4 can't do this !
Nexus may be newer but it isn't better, same reason I drive a Delica, same Reason why a 100 year old Granite house is worth more than a stick framed plastic sided and sheet rocked house, same reason a old used shovel is with 2x a new flimsy one, same reason when you go to buy a vacum you would pay more for a 20 year old used good one than a cheap plastic bells and whistles junk that works for a year and then dies.

Nope, I am not, I came up with 5 very good reason a cheaper to buy new Samsung S2x is better than a Nexus 4 FOR ME.
I need to plug in a full keyboard, I need removable storage for my lifestyle as a DJ, I need extra battery or I can't have a phone working many times, I need a phone that can withstand some abuse in the outdoors,
... these are far more important than 1 gig extra storage and a better screen.
Blaming me for trolling is just your way of not having a valid argument to my 5 good reasons that the Nexus 4 is a a downgrade.

Yeah, now take your old 4x4 and crash it into a wall at 100 km/h per hour. I bet you are dead inside.
The Nexus isn't cheaply made. The problem is glass, y'know, that material prone to breaking.
Anyways, yes, some old things are good, for example I have a 15 year old water boiler and I wouldn't want any other water boiler.
But phones develop so rapidly that I won't consider old technology. Yeah some things may be better, but Nexus has better screen, fast updates, better SoC and so on.

The phone that people chooses to use is because they want to. If you don't like it, then don't use it, but you shouldn't just bash the phone like that just because you don't like it
I could name 100 of reasons why nexus 4 is better than gsg2x
Here's some:
1. Better processor (also future proof)
2. Bigger and nicer display
3. NEXUS device (pure android, easy rooting, big development, Google supported)
4. LTE equipped
5. Nicer design
6. More ram
7. Overall smoother and faster experience (trust me, I've owned both devices)
Do I need to say more?

Well, I reported the thread as trolling. There is no reason to post this thread. You aren't asking a question. All you are doing is fishing for ....trolls.
If they leave it open then I guess you are correct. You are not trolling.

Thread closed as there's no real point to it. You're not happy with your phone so you replaced it with a different one, it happens all the time but you don't need to post your complaints because if everyone did this everytime they made the wrong decision for them then the forum would be a mess.

[Q] Will there be an SD card or Keyboard?

These are do or die for me.
Information posted here: https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_10_16gb&feature=microsite seens to indicate no; which makes me a sad panda.
Being a Nexus device it has no sd card slot, which means 32gb is a must for most people.
Don't forget you can use usb sticks with this too. So having no sd card slot isn't a deal breaker.
Don't know about keyboards yet. You can easily buy a standard bluetooth keyboard if you can't live without one.

I really dislike having a USB stick out the side from a mobile device. I dislike bluetooth keyboards almost as much.
Maybe I'll just wait for the next Asus.

then yeah maybe not the best device to buy....
You could buy one of these mini USB sticks and break the plastic part. Maybe it fits in the USB slot and you only see some millimeters of it.
Could be a solution. I already know some USB sticks that have 16GB and stick only 5mm out of the slot.
Someone should make an NFC device that is a little box (around the size of a credit card, and 1/4" inch thick) and only has SD and USB storage options.
Then again it looks like someone has already thought of making one: http://www.google.com/patents/US20060069814
Now ... has someone already MADE one?
Why is it that manufacturers are starting this trend of leaving SD cards out? I'd expect it out of a cut rate piece of hardware, but not when they are charging a premium price. The fact that this on a Nexus (which is supposed to have all the bells and whistles. I am really disappointed. Granted it's a Samsung build, but someone at Google needs to wake up if the intend to hang the Nexus moniker on it.

Probably a little cheaper and with the new fascination with everything being thin as paper, leaving it out allows for more room. I'm sure fitting a 9000 battery in a package this small wasn't a easy task.
At cost? How do you figure? And last I checked we were talking tablets. The point I was driving at was, as an original N1 owner, bought direct from Google, I have come to expect that the Nexus name will only be applied to only the most technically advanced devices. be they phones or tablets. To further that point, *not* including a microSD slot (which is the actual form factor I was referring to, apologies if you thought I meant a fullsize SD card) is taking a step backwards. I semi understood it with the Galaxy 7, as they were competing against the Kindle Fire's price point.
Cost I don't think is an issue. Thinness maybe, but for crying out loud this thing is a 10 in Tablet, not some microthin waferphone. Google/Samsung, you let me down. Going to have to consider the Nexus name as a marketing tool only, and not the absolute best like the N1 was on release.
For the price? I'd rather have an MSD slot than the screen resolution. Guess that's just me...
However, the Nexus 7 I may look into again.. If they did more than slap 32GB in it...

Looking historically; Nexus has been attached to 'good' but not 'leading edge'. It's never been used on the absolute best. That wouldn't have the mass market appeal that the price tag of 'good' has. I think you misunderstand the purpose of 'Nexus'.

My problem is that my desire for for easy & cheap interchangeable storage (an SD card) apparently doesn't have the ease of use that is desired in a Nexus device. I can live with that in a phone; but not a tablet. ONE of my NFC devices has to have an SD card.
there is this remedy on the way (If it gets funded).
And until then there is CHEAP ebay products...
Now on the keyboard note, I am also in the same pickle. I have a TF700t, I have had SO MANY DAMN HARDWARE ISSUES! I have exchanged like 7 of the damn tablets! I have an RMA coming in form newegg for one, and it sucks. I love the design and the features, but the lagginess even on JB is absolutely insane on a $500 tablet!
Here's to hoping the next Asus Transformer tablet is a killer, crazy 2560x1600 Super IPS+ with a similar design to the TF700, maybe with some other cool features.

Asus has a thing for slow I/O, no idea why but basically every all of their tabs sucks - even the Vivo, which is much more recent. I wouldn't count on their next tab being worth anything. Why not just get a Nexus 4 and a Bluetooth keyboard? There's probably a full-size folding one somewhere.

Idk, I really like the keyboard with a battery, gives me all day+ battery life. I can use the thing probably 3 days with HEAVY usage! Plus a full size USB port and SD card reader, AND a mousepad, PLUS it protects the screen VERY well when closed!! What's not to love about Asus's design?! I love the concept, just the execution on the prime was crap from Asus thanks to poor I/O.:silly:

so i got my hands on an HTC ONE and im very impressed.
design wise, its feels like a mac book pro, its almost as thick as GS3.
Sense 5.0 just might win me back from my Note 2.
camera was great, and picture and video quality was awesome.
one thing that really took me by surprise was the speakers.
sound quality was awesome and i could hear some bass in phone speakers.
i would love to have this phone out, but i wont buy it because no removeable battery & no expandable memory.

Definitely want to get my hands on it now.
I used to be all about I won't get a phone without removable battery and or no SD slot.
However, the more I think about how I use a phone and hoping if something did happen to the battery, your carrier would help you out, then I see no issue in getting this phone. 64G is plenty of space for me, so I am good there.
So getting this phone, but going to test the heck out of it at the store before hand.

As for the non removeable battery, I really don't care as long as it isn't malfunctioning. I don't plan on keeping the phone for more than 2-3 years. I don't fast charge my phone either with higher amperage that would kill the batteries capacity and discharge rate.
As for the 64gb internal issue, I assume everyone that is complaining HAS a 64gb microsd that is full? Is 64gb really not enough for you people? I also realise you don't actually get 64 after android is installed, but still... With usb OTG just buy yourself a cable and microsd reader.

With both of my previous phones, after less than a year the battery was substantially less efficient than it was when it was new - held less charge. I definitely wouldn't want to use the same one for 3 years. It's also nice to have the option to replace it with a higher-capacity one.
As for storage, 64GB would be fine, but you can't get the 64GB version in the UK. I regularly fill up my 32GB memory card with downloaded video, and that's standard-definition stuff; on the the One it'll be HD.
I've ordered a One anyway. I'm an addict.
You know, for those still iffy about to expandable storage, remember this. The one has a 64gig variant. Most of the devices out right now with expandable storage can only take a 64gig card maximum anyways. And that's only on a few devices.
I would understand if the one only had a 16gig variant. Even I wouldn't buy it with a 16gig internal storage either. But has a 32 and 64gig variants. So what's the deal?

I have a Desire Z, which came out, I believe, November 2010. I got a larger Mugen battery for it as soon as it was released, maybe two or three months afterwards. I've been using that battery ever since. So that's over two years. It still holds its charge really well, I don't have any complaints.
I hear what you're saying though, it is a concern. The question is, how easy would it be to open up the One and replace the battery? Probably really difficult, which means that, effectively, these devices have a short lifespan.
It is a shame, really.
I don't think it's always either/or when it comes to unibody designs and an easily servicable battery - imagine if you could slide out a "cartridge" from the bottom of the phone, which would contain the battery, SIM card, SD card. The best of all worlds. The only compromise would be the latch to keep it locked.
I open phones to replace parts and etc. evo and evo 3d were easy to open and fix, evo lte was a bit complicated, but this guy is up there with Iphone, when it comes to opening and replacing part, I did not see any openings or areas where screws would be hidden, so replacing the battery is out of the question.
I keep three charged batteries with me all times (I saw Miami heat players leaving their hotel in Boston when they were here for a playoff a couple of years ago, and got to talk and shake hands w lebron and wade but couldn't take pictures because my battery had died) since than I dont buy any phone that does not have a removable battery. Right now I have a 16 gb note 2 with a 64 gb sd card and both are almsot full, I just like having an option to do what I want when I want to. If I didnt want those options I would've went with the iphone!

It'll come apart. The HOX had no obvious openings either but you just need to pry the screen out and you've got access to everything. Being an aluminium body rather than polycarbonate (which could flex to allow you to get the screen out) there will have to be a proper way to pull it apart.

This. I'm getting real tired of the argument about not enough storage. I feel at this point with a 64gb internal storage the point is invalid. Why would anyone have that many movies on a phone. Or music? I enjoy watching clips but a whole 2 hour video on my phone? No thanks. I loaded up all my music onto Google music a long time ago and have never has problems since trying to listen to it. Idk, I have never really had a problem with storage and I use my phones a lot!

Look at the inside of the body along the side - a whole bunch of tiny tabs. My guess is these hold the screen in, pry the plastic side of the phone away from the screen (may need special tool) and the tabs will release the screen. Once screen is out you have access to everything.
M.

I laugh at people who aren't getting this phone because of non-removable battery.

Seriously... when was the last time you replaced a phone battery? I've owned multiple phones from Iphone 4(had it for less than 2 weeks and passed it off to my mom)/Samsungs G1 G2 and Focus/Nokia L920 not ONCE I ran into battery issues. All these flagship phones are going to be obsolete by next year I PROMISE you... with google glass and all the crazy tech thats coming out... next years tech will dwarf this years... You will never even get the chance to have a failing battery because lets be honest here you will get rid of your phone for the next best thing next year. HTC One is a beautiful phone and I can't wait to buy it. Complaining about SDCARD? lol I had the Lumia920 with all my music loaded(32gb version) and took a **** ton of photos and videos and I still had a lot of space left... buy the damn 64GB version if you are so concerned about space. Im saving money and buying the 32GB because realistically 32gb is enough for me and yes I will upgrade my phone next year because I am a phone enthusiast. I sold my L920 on craigslist(just like every other phone Ive owned) for 50$ less than market price and now I am waiting to buy the HTC One with the cash... I am pumped for the ONE can't wait till Rogers starts shipping them in Canada!
I will buy the 64gb version. Even that won't be sufficient storage for me. Not even close. Yes I have a monster music collection, even at 256kbps it's well over 100GB.
I can live without the battery, but there is no reason not to have an SD slot.

Fingers crossed :fingers-crossed: my shiny new HTC One should be arriving tomorrow. Thanks to HTC's idiotic decision not to supply either a removable battery or a memory card slot, I am going to need both some form of external storage that the phone can access - perhaps a flash drive accessed via OTG, but I'm open to other suggestions - and an external battery/charger of some kind; and (which may be the tricky part) it has to be possible to access both of these things simultaneously.
With regards to power, capacity is clearly important (i.e. the number of mAh held) but it does also need to be reasonably portable - not something that weighs over a pound! - and, if at all possible, it should be something that can be charged or replenished very quickly. Ideally it should be able to charge the phone's internal battery as fast as a mains charger can.
For storage, I need a decent amount - 32GB is the absolute minimum, but 64GB or more would be better. It would also be helpful to have something not too big and heavy (I'll be carrying it around at all times). And, if possible, it should also be fast - especially when transferring files from a PC.
I may be acquiring a case at some point as well - not sure about that yet.
Advice, please!

I hear you cause i never replace tha battery of a phone myself but some people do. Some people carry an extra battery to swap out real quick and keep doing their thing, it depends on how you use your phone. But having a removable battery is always better than non removable.

HTC is stingy with their battery size. They make a phone with a killer design and give it an mediocre battery size ( the HTC One has an acceptable battery size, the One X and droid buterfly/DNA is totally unacceptable).
unfortunately, i completely disagree with you.. the ability to remove the battery and replace it is a incredible convenience. i have 3 batteries that i use even though i dont use it every day...
1. i never have to plug my phone into an outlet.. i can carry my phone with me even if i walk around the house.. once my battery is low i switch it out and replace the other battery and have my other battery charging on a separate battery charger.
2. after using my phone all day i can come home and switch my battery and go out again without having to wait for my battery to charge, charging while i drive doesnt give me enough power when i go out..
3. i never have to worry about my battery level, i dont have to pace myself when i use my phone.. i use it freely.. unlike some users that turn off their 3G, wifi.. to conserve battery
4. it's especially great when i go on vacation, since i use my phone for navigation, surf the web, yelp, etc. my phone is on heavy usage, but i don't have to worry since i have 3 batteries..
You might not appreciate it but one of the great things about Android is users have a choice of what they need, and having the ability to replace my battery is always a plus.
having said that i am still getting the one because i love the built, not having a removable battery is just a trade off i will have to live with.. and hopefully i wont regret it..

Buying a smartphone invariably involves compromises. There's a lot that (from my perspective) is wrong with the One - the screen is much too small, the lack of storage, the fixed battery; there's also a lot that's right - a non-OLED display, good-quality built-in speakers, good performance, and a camera that doesn't pander only to marketing numbers. Right now it's the best compromise available.
The problems with your initial post are that it betrays a woeful lack of imagination, and a woeful level of arrogance. You are unable to understand why other people's requirements might be different from your own, and unable to accept that their opinions may actually be just as valid as yours, despite being different. I would have been happier with more storage (if the 64GB version were actually available in Britain, that would be a good start), and with a removable battery; but, unlike you, I am able to understand why other people might not have the same requirements that I have (for example, because they don't watch downloaded hi-def video on their phones to the extent that I'm likely to) and it would never occur to me to ridicule someone merely because they have different priorities.
Those who says that he needs removable battery are psycho idiots.
Try not to depend on your mobile phone, try to have normal life then just typing.
When my battery is low, im happy, leave him on bad, and go out work something, or make dinner.
Why the **** do you bring phone in kitchen or when you go to coffe with friends?
Its a sick man, better try to find medical help.

Dude, I replaced my phone battery twice because it bloated.
As much I prefer removable batteries, I see its probably near impossible to provide a practical unibody chassis with a removable battery.
You clearly do not to swap your battery out, there are people who do and so this isn't the phone for them......... quite simple really, get over it, the world doesn't revolve around you.
Removable battery or lack there of is slightly annoying but to be honest you get a 2 year warranty so if it does fail you can get it replaced easily enough. Yes it's not as convenient as if you could swap it our yourself or even get an uprated Mugen battery for longer life but c'est la vie, the One is still more than good enough with a non-removable.....
Also on storage....There are surely very few people who will honestly use more than 64gig, and if you do happen to need more than this on your phone then honestly you need to invest in a laptop/PC and an external hard-drive or if you just want it for music, buy an MP3 player with a card slot......this should do it http://www.amazon.co.uk/micro-card-...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1363338492&sr=1-1

My thoughts exactly, having thousands of songs loaded on your phone is stupid... you only listen to a few!
I will laugh at OP when a storm strikes his residence and no electricity for a few days. Then you will remember this stupid thread. That happened with me some weeks ago and if not for my beloved HD2, I would be screwed. It was a once in a lifetime thing, but it happened. Removable battery and sd slot are important features, that matter for many users, for various reasons. I don"t care about IR remote control, but if it is important for some users, I don"t ***** about it.
Samsung IV is an ugly piece of plastic with an ugly UI, but they"re doing it right with the aforementioned features because Samsung knows that many android users aren"t yet isheeps, ie, users that turn a bad thing into a glorious invention.
Android filesystem limitations make sd slot important and an external battery is not as handy as a removable one. A phone can be slim and have this features. Htc and Asus are just trying to save / make more money.

Was thinking about getting the htc one. ...

Don't flame, just points of notice...
But after reading some of the reviews about the battery life ( and it not being removable), reservations about blink feed, no sd card and the dexterity of the aluminum, the serviceability in case of malfunction and overall UI reservations, I think I will be sticking with the Galaxy note 2 and wait for either the s4 or note 3.
I have so much respect for htc [ had the one x, g2 and sensation) but I had to make the jump to Sammy after all the reports about the amazing note 2 ( I still consider it one of the, if not the, best phone on the market still) I had to make the jump. There is no denying the beauty of the of the htc one, but issues like no sd card ( basically have to plug phone into computer for efficient transfer of files, backup and restore), and no removable battery ( wtf htc? What if the phone freezes? What if I want/need extra battery life?) I just can't justify jumping from a great phone with amazing software in the note 2 to one with so many unfixable issues.
I want nothing more than to see great competition between these two power house Android manufacturers. Competition breeds progress in my eyes. But htc can't come up short on simple issues like serviceability, battery and lack of sd card and expect to compete with Sammy. Craftsmanship can only get you so far (look at the nexus 4, droid razor, DNA etc... already they are a thing of the past). You have to deliver on all fronts and htc, in my opinion, just missed the ball on this one.
Craftsmanship, serviceability, software, hardware, convenience and customer customization are the most important areas I think htc needed to focus on. Although they nailed some of these with flying colors, they dropped the ball hard on others. ..
What do you guys think?

I had the note 2 great idea but it was too big for me, I didnt like the feel of the device or the screen. The battery life has been fantastic for me personally most have said this. I think sense 5 is refined and a lot closer to googles holo than touchwiz will ever be. Blinkfeed isnt an issue just move it off to the side and remove feeds. Getting rid of it altogether would be a nice option. 32GB for me is fine I can use a Nexus 4 with no problem. Don't see anything wrong with the aluminium and serviceability by HTC will also be fine. I dont see why they would make a phone thats impossible for them to repair.
Battery life is definitely an improvement over my One X. I can last a whole day of use, using the One in the same way as the One X.
I've personally never needed more that 32GB, I've always had about 10GB free on the One X. Not fussed about a removable battery as I drive quite a lot and can just top up the charge level in the car, although this is something I haven't needed to do with the HTC One!
It all comes down to personally preference and how you use the phone, which is why I've preferred the HTC's to the plasticy, although very nice Samsungs. Form AND function over function for me...
The choice is all up to you.. If you feel that Samsung is more your cup of tea than stick with Samsung if that's the brand you trust.
I don't think the battery is a huge issue being that I have a battery bank and plan on buying the mophie juice case AT&T have in their video.
And most my files is in the cloud so lack of SD slot doesn't bother me.
And if your phone freeze no matter what, if you hold the power button for 3secs it will reboot the phone.
All flagship phones will become a thing of the past once the latest and greatest comes out. The S3 is in the past just as the Note 2 will be once the Note 3 comes out. Not having a removable battery or sd slot doesn't shorten any device popularity if it was the flagship.
Obviously it's your choice not to get the One but those things you mentioned aren't a problem to me.
I don't mind not being able to take the battery out. I would clearly prefer it if it was removable but it's not enough of an issue to have stopped me getting it.
No SD slot doesn't matter to me either because 32GB will be enough as most of my films and games are on my Nexus 7 anyway. Even if I do run out of storage, I don't mind using online storage anyway.
Blinkfeed isn't as bad as I thought it would be but even if, I decide at any point, I don't want it anymore then I can always use a custom launcher to get rid of it anyway.
Finally, battery life has been really great for me over the last week so I really can't complain. Obviously some people will have had poor battery life but, from what I've seen, most people aren't having that problem.

I thought note 2 lte was best phone until I saw and now own htc one.
Nothing like it, non removable battery is a non issue for most. Sd card would be nice but can live without it but not if it was Samsung phone, basically looks makes up for lack of ext storage.
I'm very impressed with what htc one offers and makes up for what it lacks in. Had it been plastic and amoled I wouldn't buy it.

Although holding the power button does work sometimes, this is not true. If there is a system freeze in android, both hardware and software button will not work, hence the battery pull option.
Also the sd card option is not just a matter of size or having enough memory, its convenience of backing up my files to a place that can be stored and removed regardless of if the phone dies, internet service goes out ( how would you use your cloud service?) Etc..

If by any chance AT&T or any carrier have a melt down (or my Internet provider has one ) I wisely choose to keep some files offline.. The important ones at least
The power button trigger is not coded on the kernel side so even if you flash a broken kernel + a broken ROM to it the force reset function would still work perfectly as it is a hardware implementation.
If what you explain was the case I'm pretty sure the One S would have been flooded by permanent brick devices because of it's confusing different types of processor where users tend to flash s4 ROMs, kernels & radios to the s3 versions and likewise.

Very true everyone about the beauty of the craftsmanship. I too was once a hater of plastic ( I still own the asus tf700, beautiful device) but have to realize it means nothing if the material is weak. For me, having a phone that durable trumps a phone that just looks nice. Part of form factor is durability and serviceability. If I drop my asus or an htc one, I can almost guarentee that it will need to be serviced or have very noticable damage. In the case of the htc one however, a tear down of that magnitude ( just look around the net the tear downs...almost not worth doing) would require you to have to send it into htc, leaving you phoneless or with a replacement.

Fair enough, however extending battery life or even replacing the battery if it dies (which all phone batteries die or diminish eventually) is nearly impossible. Hence the inconvenience.

It's not as good as the Note 2 (what I had previously), but better than the One X. For me, it's manageable. The Note 2 was too big for me, and I'm not a huge fan of the general feel of Sammy phones. Plus, I never used all the bells and whistles, even though I liked the thought of using them. I felt like I had to come up with reasons to use the s-pen or multi window.

There are reports of very good battery life for the one. It comes with a 2yr warranty from what I've seen. So if the battery has issues you can get it replaced. 64gb is more than enough for the vast majority.

With an sd card you'd still have to plug the phone to a pc or at least the card into a card reader. So not sure what you're getting at here. I transfer everything via WiFi, so with a card or not makes no difference. You can also use a Bluetooth dongle if you're WiFi deficient.
With a freeze... again the power button is a hard coded feature to reset the handset. As far as extra battery life see mike1986's blog post:
http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/2013/03/removable-battery-do-we-really-need-it.html?m=1
Lastly, with serviceability. I for one can't believe it can't be done, regardless of what ifixit says. There are a variety of replacement parts available, including the entire back casing. Why would they have them if repair weren't possible.
In the end its what you like or prefer in a device that will help you justify the purchase. If you have a system for your storage and power needs and don't want to change the way you do things then maybe this unit isn't for you. But to say things can't be done is wrong. There are many options available to satisfy all of your perceived negative points. You may actually find some of them better than what you're doing now. The choice is up to you to try something new.

Does it worth buying 4 now that 5 is out?

I am an Atrix owner and always loved the xda support of my device, that was the reason for not moving to another one for so long.
Now it has start to pissing me off so i was thinking of buying a nexus phone, i like nexus 4 but i waited for 5. Now 5 is out.
Today i found one nexus 4 in new conditon witch is on sale for just the half price from the nexus 5 32gb (incl shipping).
Does it worth buying a nexus 4 ?
I mean that the community may start to fade out since 5's arrival, and i am asking all of you nexus users to tell me if you are fine with nexus 4 hardware or if you thing that 4 has become old.
Whould you suggest me coming on nexus 4 or going for 5 ? (note the price difference)
Thanks for your time at least for reading that

Definitely not, you don't have to get the 32gb Nexus 5 you can get the 16gb, which lowers the price down. The Nexus 5 is better in just about every way, faster cpu, better camera, better and larger screen. Most importantly the battery on the Nexus 4 is not that great compared to other phones even if the Nexus 5 is still not where it needs to be it's battery life is much better than the 4. Trying to save a few dollars is not worth receiving this subpar experience.
Subpar experience? What kind of B.S. is that? It's a goddamn phone, and still a very fast one at that.
It totally depends upon kind of deal you are getting on nexus 4!!

Nexus 5 has usb otg nexus 4 doesn't. Nexus 5's camera is actually pretty good, Nexus 4 isn't.
I feel a need to point out that Nexus 4 technically does have OTG support, it just requires an external power source to work. This is due to the fact that LG for some reason decided to put the cellular radio on an internal USB port which uses up most of the juice so that the Nexus 4 can't power external devices.
I am guessing you can pick up a mint Nexus 4 for about half the price of a new Nexus 5. Is the 5 twice the phone of the 4... hardly.
I ordered a 5 on day one, but cancelled it after reading the reviews. Yeah, the camera is better, but I didn't really have any complaints about the Nexus 4 camera (I know how to take good photos with it). The 1080p screen makes no sense on a display that size and we'll see how battery life compares after the Nexus 4 gets 4.4. I am guessing it'll be a push.
The N5 is also faster but I don't ever recall waiting on my N4 for anything other than downloads, and since I am not in an LTE market, that's a push as well. So for me, silly to toss the Nexus 4 out just because there is a newer one, especially when it doesn't really offer me anything earth shaking. I actually prefer the look and feel of the N4 and I'll happily wait for the next Nexus.

This can only means the Nexus 5 is better for you. It has better camera, USB OTG support, and the 32gb model, but it will cost twice as much compared to a used Nexus 4 as well. In term of performance, the Nexus 4 is very smooth, especially with ART enabled, so I do not intend to upgrade now.
I played with N5 for a few days.
1. Its pretty much the same size
2. Dont see much difference between 1080p and 720p
3. Battery gives only extra 0.5 hours of screen time
4. Dont see much difference in camera
5. Worse radio (get worse signal)
My N4 is on Liquidsmooth 2.9 4.2.2 with Matrix kernel. It never lags. On 4.4 it should be even better. Is N5 a better phone? Yes, it is. I absolutely love the look and feel of it. But is it worth extra $400? If you sell your N4 for $200 and spend another $200 on upgrade, then yes. But if the money is an issue or you are not a phone junkie, I dont see enough reasons to upgrade. Its like iphone 5 and 5s. Better? Yes. Worth the extra $$$? Not really
Well, I just finished flashing 4.4 on my N4 about an hour ago, and I must say that it is a lot snappier with it. So, if you plan on getting a Nexus 4, with 4.4 it's as good as it's going to get. Granted, I have not run long-term tests yet, but I don't think i'll be disappointed by the new version.
i am 100% sure that nexus 4 will survive for another year or two..

Can you expand on this, and how is the wifi signal? Coming from GSM Samsung devices that I used to get great signals, I'm already not impressed with the low signal strength of the N4, so I really don't want to get anything worse than it. The WiFi signal strength is not that great either.
Get the nexus 4, its still a solid phone and development will definitely continue with kitkat..:good:

I have t-mobile. I get less antennas and N5 switches to H+ much more often in places where N4 stays on Lte. Cant comment on wifi, because I was using only cell data

Aka mostly useless for its intended purpose. I can't believe people are actually recommending this guy old technology. If it was a question of whether he should upgrade or not it would be one thing. But making a new purchase it's silly to tell him to get the older product. The tech world moves very quickly.
Dude if you haven't already decided get the Nexus 5 it overshadows the 4 in every way and you'll be able to do things that the 4 can't do (decent camera, lte, and usb otg). Sadly most people in this topic are giving reasons why they're personally not upgrading instead of giving valid advice to a new purchaser.

Interesting vision. "Old technology" you say? We're talking about N4 vs N5 here. N5 is definitely better in most regards, but N4 isn't far behind. You may call nexus S old technology, but I hardly agree with saying the same about the N4.
Is the N5's (questionable) extras worth the double price compared to a still very capable device? That's up to him, based on his needs and values.
