U8800-51 w/unauth Gingerbread update.
Anyone else noticing that the device does not respond to orientation changes (portrait to landscape)? It's a software issue. I know this because it is corrected with a reboot. Might be the GB update. Is there some way to fix this?
Happens to me sometimes i don't know what is cause but can have to do something about sensibility of sensor i guess...
Happens in cm7 too. Just keep it in 0 orientation.

I recently had the digitizer on my G2 replaced and now find that the accelerometer does not function. The Google Star app doesnt rotate at all, compass doesnt work, and the screen does not auto rotate. When I flip the keyboard open, the screen does rotate. Does this sound like a hardware or software issue? I've done a factory reset of the phone and made sure in settings-->display that auto rotate screen is checked.
Sounds like hardware especially since you just replaced the screen. What rom are you useing anyway? Or are you still stock. Also who replaced the digitizar? Was the work warrentied?

something has been bothering me about screen orientation.
It seems like the threshold for rotation is very very small, on every ROM I've tried, as well as the stock firmware.
Sometimes I'll just place my phone back down on my desk and then it goes into landscape, despite my wishes.
I am aware there is an orientation lock but I'd rather leave that off and require the device to wait a bit longer before committing to the rotation. Is this fixable via firmware or is this a hardware issue?
Try Settings > Display > Horizontal Calibration...

Hi, just bought a cheap iconia a500 with a dent on one corner so obviously been dropped. It works fine however.
Only issue is one of the sensors seems faulty. I installed a custom rom and still same so not the rom at fault.
I only noticed it after installing words with friends. You can shake to shuffle tiles but mine just shuffles em continuously unless turned upside down. Not sure which sensor which sensor it is as rotate works fine.
I guess the drop caused it but is there a way of turning it off?
Don't know how much help this is; but try "sensor list" app to identify which sensor is not working correct.

Thanks for the pointer but it does not really make it clear which one it is lol.
No devs have any idea?

Hi guys, I'm having annoying proximity sensor issue - it works, but when in a conversation,it decides my phone is not close to my face and I begin cheek dialing and eventually hang up.
Do you have any idea what might be the problem and how to fix it? Ihave read that you can modify thebuild.prop, but I don't know which value to modify.

I have the same f'ing problem on my G2 with CM11, its driving me insane.
When I make phone calls the screen stays on when I put it to my ear. This results in touch presses ranging from muting the call, typing digits or really doing anything through the phones interface. Bloody infuriating.
It's very annoying and it shouldn't be doing it. I say shouldn't because it doesn't always; some times a reboot will seem to fix the problem but that seems to depend on how soon after the reboot a call is made/answered.
I have used AndroSensor to test the sensors (accelerometer, light, proximity etc) and they all seem to be registering values. For proximity, putting my finger over the sensor can result in a drop in value to 0.4in or 1.2in. This could be the cause of the issue as 1.2in is far to high a reading to correctly disable the screen afaik.
Possibly related; when the screen stays on, and the call is long I believe the normal screen timeout will kick in and the screen goes blank, meaning to hangup I have to wake the phone and unlock etc.
My questions are;
Has anyone else experience this?
Is it a setting, bug or faulty hardware?
Can someone else perform the same tests with AndroSensor to see if their results are the same as mine?

Nope.
Did you ever get this sorted out? I'm having the same issue, but the proximity sensor numbers don't change at all. No screen protector, stock unrooted device on Marshmallow.
Same Problem
Actually even i have been having the same problem. It is not smethin that has been there forever it has started in the past few weeks.
I had this problem once, but a simple restart had solved it.
