Everytime a need upgrade is out people with a modified device need to download at least 800mb to have the upgrade the even if the update is small...so I would like to know if at every ota update users may provide the ota zip like this we can flash it with mobile Odin and avoid the pain in the neck of downloading a large file with hot file !
Am I the only one to have this idea ? Is it possible ?

Usually it,s more than a few MB, and it's very rare it's not a lot. the last update had almost 10k changes, many... what with file signing and such it's easier to to just grab the lot.
Yeah but anyway usually the file size is around 250-300 mb not 800mb

I agree. Hot file is so slow by the time it finishes downloading my file is cold!!!!
Thanks for this thread mate!!
I am looking for something similar
OTA often says to me that the Auto updates are being pushed in the order they were requested and if I try to update thru kies, it downloads atleast 1GB of data for me (atleast for XXELLA it did)
and I heard this update thru OTA is oly 21+ MB!!!
looking for a workaround for this.
I remember that ota files were provided by someone for the first jellybean leaks and the file were only 250mb

It won't work with modfied ROMs as the OTAs also patch files, and those pathces dont work with modified files, also the OTA checks system, kernel and recovery to be unaltered before it's actually performing the update (it'd just cause tons of softbricks if it didn't and would run on a modified system).
Further more, OTAs are flashed via (stock) recovery, not Odin.
You can flash ota files with mobile Odin so it would work I think

After installing the XXLSA Leak from sammobile.com (Thanks!) I immediately got a small update OTA to XXLSB. And after that the OTA update to XXLSC!
Download Links temporarily removed. Have to check content.
Warning: This is not an installable Custom Rom. It gives Rom builders/developers the necessary files for compiling new, nice Custom Roms.
Contents:
factoryfs.img: /system
hidden.img: /preload
zImage
modem.bin
Hints/Errors:
In the zip I named /system as "fsfactory.img". Rename it to "factoryfs.img" if you want to use the android kitchen for buillding your Custom Rom.
If you use dsixda's kitchen and get an error "Bad Magic" with simg2img.exe: the conversion to ext4 for factoryfs.img and cache.img seems to be not necessary - they are already?!. I just tried to rename factoryfs.img to ext_factoryfs.img and could proceed in the script.
I changed a few lines in a script "simg_files_to_working_folder" in the kitchen, so that the above problems and the use of hidden.img works
I hope to see nice and usable Custom Roms soon. Good luck and have fun.
If something is wrong or missing: please tell me, I will update if possible.
Thanks for your patience. ThaiDai
Update: I'm making a deodexed Rom and want to make a small one. If this works and there isn't a Small XXLSC until then I will upload this too.

I will try to make a complete dump from the new XXSLC which I got after installing the new leak XXSLA from sammobile.com today.
After OTA to XXSLB I got XXSLC within 5 minutes.
I just started to make a system dump with adb and now have to make the same for the /preload (and maybe /data?).
And so maybe I can provide a base for other developers to use this for new Custom Roms.
As a start I added 2 snapshots and the build.prop
Update: /system and /preload noch on my local harddisk

Awesome news -- fun times ahead
Now I pulled the /system, /preload and boot.img and modem.bin
Comparing this with eybees zip-file for LSA I think that should be all files I need for building a CWM installable ROM.
But I think I should sleep a few hours first.
In the /preload folder are 6 bloatware apps (Hugendubel, myTaxi etc.) in a folder DBT\hidden_apps.
And in /preload/symlink/system/app there are 31 apks, so our /system should be more relaxed now.
Maybe you could upload the new modem first?
So we can try it!
Would be cool
Thanks in advance

Im not completely sure if the file and the way I "dd" it in the adb shell is completely correct. And if I'm not sure I not will provide something which can "hurt" devices - that wouldn't be ok.
So wait until morning...
It's ok m8.
Thanks anyway

woow Nice !
Did you get OTA even not in Germany?
Can you tell us if the spen is ok for you ? I'm not able to crop with the spen on lsa dump (media scanning is running).

I'm waiting eagerly.
They keep releasing these updated LEAKED versions, Samsung needs to make an OFFICIAL release already!
So eybee1970 was just right.

I think we will all only be truly happy when we are all on LSD...
I wonder what the trigger for getting that update is?
I have a German DBT phone, this leak is a DBT update I'm just not in Germany (am in australia)
Does this mean if we get a hand on sammobiles LSA leak,we would get ota update to all future leaks?:-O
Edit:downloading xxlsa from sammobile now to try out my luck .
Downloading via 3g in my class while professor is yelling around on accountancy
Will report in the evening after flashing via odin.

WoW...!! Graet News,
Thanks for the information.
I flash last night vía odin stock leak LSA and check OTA today and nothing happend, I will try vía Kies tomorrow but hope that Eybee release LSC from dump... there's no difference with odin version

eybee asked me yesterday evening for a dump and offered help. But when I answered he wasn't online anymore. So let's see what we get in the evening or on the coming weekend.
I'm sure I will not be the only one who is getting this OTA update. I'll do my best to generate a usable CWM for the Rom cookers.
I guess they prefer the raw dump, and they will develop and customise accordingly. Perhaps consider posting the Dump as Eybee did previously on the first leak of LS2.
Picture says it all. Woke up and suddenly had the notification.

Unfortunately both myself and someone else I know are using the previous 4.1.1 leak, so I can't check right now.. tempted just to reflash to stock as soon as. Thanks!
Hope it'll come soon in uk...!!!

Was tempted to flash the N8000 & fix, too. But then I said myself just to wait until Christmas. And now I got it on an normal, poor and grey Tuesday morning, when I did expect it the less.
First Impression: All the Butter works and Premium Suite looks just fine.
Good look all others.

Yes thanks here are more details
Today Samsung updated their Galaxy Note 10.1 Wi-Fi to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
The update is only available in Germany at the moment and downloadable through samfirmware.com
If you have the Galaxy Note 10.1 Wi-Fi in Germany you will receive a OTA update of 300MB
Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 10.1 at MWC 2012 in Barcelona the Galaxy Note 10.1 uses a 10.1” screen with a quad-core CPU and a 5 megapixel Camera.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 Wi-Fi is Samsung’s first tablet with S-PEN features.
FW details:
Android Version: Android 4.1.1
Product code: GT-N8010EAADBT
PDA: N8010XXBLK9
I can confirm, 4.1.1 is out for german unbranded devices.
Looks extremely butterly smooth
Confirming
Got the update this morning, Galay Note 10.1, N8010, 16 GB WiFi, bought in Germany.
any possibility to install it in the UK without much fussing? thanks
Image should be on Sammobile by today, you can flash it manually then - without annoying reboot-fix
Edit: Not downloadable yet but they announced it: just keep checking http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ for "N8010"

In UK we waited so much. So more days shouldn't be a problem.
If i'm not mistaken for OTA we need original recovery image?
I'm running clockworkmod right now (with reset counter / triangle away) so i guess i won't get the update OTA?
What are the steps to get original recovery back? Normally, on reboot, the tablet would flash it from 'somewhere' with install-recovery.sh right?
So it should be stored in the original rom/flash as well..
I flashed stock ics, I really am curious if I'll get OTA. I can wait a few days, but my patience is limited so I hope it won't take long for my region to get it. What a stupid thing, carrier related firmware for a Wi-Fi only device...

Don't know the exact steps but to get the OTA you need to be on original Rom and have your Flash Counter reseted (Triangle Away). Tutorial is on this forum somewhere, I may have read it in one of the N8000 4.1.1 OTA Threads.

To explain a bit more:
- I had two tablets originally. (EU region Netherlands)
- The first one did a small OTA update for some sort of fix package, i don't know what it fixed exactly.
- I rooted the first one, but this one kept flashing back original recovery
- I used to boot into CWM directly after ODIN to get root
- Rebooted one time, got back original recovery (good!)
- Used triangle away to get flash counter reset.
- Had this one rooted, but original recovery and flash counter 0
Then, i got another one.
- This one never got any OTA update no hard i tried.
- I Figured it was already up-to-date, FW version was same as the first tablet.
- I used the same CWM method to get root
- But it never flashed back the recovery to stock by itself. (oh noes!)
- At this point the first tablet is no longer in my possession..
- I checked with ADB, the install-recovery.sh file is also not in the firmware.. (huh?)
I'm assuming for OTA i need the flash counter at zero, and original recovery, as this OTA is flashed by recovery image..
Unless a version comes out i can flash by KIES i'm sorta screwed
(Ps. other than CWM recovery, i'm still on original rom..)

It is not advisable to flash the OTA but instead flash the complete firmware as it may not work if you flash OTA for someother region.
You use ODIN to flash the full firmware, which will be what you will get to download at samfirware.
You will need to root the device again
Yeah and where will we get a full firmware? From the terribly slow sammobile mirrors -.-
They were much faster a year ago. Now they have slowed to a crawl and all the while the firmwares become ever bigger
This is bull Samsung! The us 8013 has not seen anything yet!
Remember how long it took from the n8000 dbt fw until the other regions got it? I hope it will not be the same with the n8010 and 8013, I mean I hope it will go faster.

I have an N7 for an older lady. It was sent back for warranty and replaced. The replacement came with 4.1.2 and wants to update right away to 4.2.2. Half way thru it gets the red triangle and fails.
The main question is: is there a fix that doesn't require root or unlocked bootloaders?

When you boot it you have a little lock underr the google logo? If yes the bl has been unlocked, and i think thats why you can't updafe it.

No.
The only exception would be if the problem was a corrupted OTA download, but it is my impression that the OTA has a checksum performed as a validation step before booting to the recovery. If that is actually the case, the only two reasons for a failure would be:
- something akin to a read (hardware) failure during unpacking of the OTA .zip
- The preexisting software is actually not 100% stock.
You failed to post the exact error message, so no way for us to know.
The stock recovery allows you to use adb sideload facility to apply OTA updates; if you like, you can try manually applying the OTA. All the links to the relevant OTA downloads are in oldblue910's (sticky) OTA thread in the general section. You can try this, but I suspect you will get the same result.
good luck

Ok guys finished mentioned tasks, last one still remain to add. Making device clean to use Triangle away and ready to get OTA
this will remove all leftover of SuperSU, SU, busybox replace stock recovery and kernel and root device (clean way) so after rebooting straight way use triangle away and unroot from SuperSU. and last testing. May not finish today.
Good job

OK so I got round to rooting my N10 after unrooting it ages ago so I could take the 5.0 upgrade.
I only rooted It never put a custom recovery on it. Would you say it's worth putting a recovery on it? Looking at the Android development for this device it looks rather dead in that front.
I was thinking about flashing blisspop but it looks like it's been abandoned.
Is it better just sticking with stock on this device?
Sent from my XT1052 using XDA Free mobile app
Hello,
it depends on your needs: custom ROMs bring many extra features and patches. For example latest cm ROM includes the fix for the stagefright exploit (look over the internet).
There are many interesting feature out there such a button to close all recent apps, edit your tiles and many more.
The drawback is that this may result in a more bad user experience as our device is quite old
Envoyé de mon Nexus 10 en utilisant Tapatalk
I think I am going to stick with stock.
I would have loved to have tried your kernel though
