Call volume - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
My in call volume is VERY loud, so much so that I'm forced to move my phone away from my face when in a call. I've tried hitting the volume buttons when in a call but they seem to make no difference to the actual volume. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks!

Ringer silence

Is there any way to silence the incoming phone ring. I noticed that once it started ringing there is no way you can silence the ring from the pre assigned volume level . Even if you put the audio to the lowest level the ringing volume still attains its pre assigned volume level. Wanted to ask is there any way to lower the ringing volume once it started ringing?
Is there any profiles to choose from when you are in a meeting, outdoor etc...
Do you want to silence it or reduce it, if I click on the speaker icon when phone is ringing, and click off, the sound immediately ceases.
What I normally do ...
Hi rontess,
What I normally do if I a receive an incoming call and I want to silence the ringer is I simply slide the "volume slide" button on the left down once i.e. like turning down the volume when in an actual call. This silences the phone completely!
NOTE: This does not end or place the call to voice mail it simply silences the incoming ring. So once I have silenced the call it will keep ringing "silently" or until voice mail kicks in.
Hope that was what you were looking for!
Cheers,

Click to collapse
With my Asia Rom, just click down the volume button once will make it silent. With other rom, someone said by using the power off button.
There was a thread about this several months ago.
Hope this help

[software request] is there a software that can adjust in-call volume?

i use O2 xda flame
i wanna it automaticly adjust the in-call volume to the top when i inputed a number and pressed the "talk"button,Or when a incoming call comes and i pressed the "answer" .
the reason why i need it:my flame(perhapt also yours)'s volume in call is always too small(not at the top) even your vomlue bar is at top.and which is more seriosly, sometimes a call comes, you pressed the answer, and you may hear nothing(but he/she can hear you w/o problem).
the two problem above can be solved by pressing the volume+ key during the call, and as soon as you pressed it,you can hear him/her in highest volume,but....
sounds it's easy, but i need to press it almost every call.i hate doing repeated things.so,is there a software can help me "press" the volume+ key?
check out phone weaver
Using the profile of phone weaver, you can adjust the in-call volume.

volume problems

1) how do I turn off that damn touchtone sound when I type in a phone number?
2) how can I lower the volume of the call? having it all the way down to zero still is "loud" and everyone can hear the otherside of the conversation. Is there some admin panel or something like the samsung omnia where I enter a combination of keys and it will allow me to adjust volume or something?
1) - settings menu all settings personal phone change keypad setting.
what about the volume of conversations? its soooo loud. volume is all the way to zero and still it makes no difference!

In-Call Volume Starts Too Low!

TMOUSA HD2, latest stock ROM.
I searched about this problem on the web with Google, and on this forum, and have not yet found a solution. I hope that someone reading can help me.
This has nothing to do with the system volume, nor the ringer volume, both of which I have set to max.
It only involves in-call volume, hearing the other party talking to you. I have this same problem whether the sound is coming directly from the handset pressed against my ear, or with a bluetooth headset.
Whenever I receive a call on the HD2, at first the sound of the other party's voice is WAY too low. I cannot understand anything they say, do not know who it is, in fact I barely hear anything. (That, despite, both the system and ringer volumes both set to max.)
Then, I press the volume up on the volume rocker several times, or the volume control on my bluetooth headset, and finally I can hear the person talking to me.
That is a hassle--that when someone calls, at first I barely hear anything, don't even know who it is, or what they said, until I press the volume up rocker several times.
It seems like, regardless of system and ringer volume settings, that with an incoming call, the volume is initially set at a VERY low level.
Is there a way that can be fixed--registry tweak, etc.?
I may have come across a fix for this, but am not sure.
I did a search for the word "Volume" in the registry.
One key and value I came across was the following key:
HKLM\Services\HTCAP\SmartHandsetVolumeControl\Handset
I took the value InCallVolume, and changed the dword data to the number which I think represents max volume: 4294967295.
I think that has helped with the problem of the initial call volume on receieved calls being too low. I'm not sure yet though, as I have not received many calls since.
I see many different volume control values in the SmartHandsetVolumeControl key and its subkeys, and cannot say I understand them.
Is there someone reading who really understands what these different registry volume settings mean?
Today I checked voice mail. Therefore a call I placed to voice mail, not an incoming call. I wasn't using a bluetooth headset, but had the phone directly to my ear. I heard the voice mail recording way too softly, could hardly make it out. I pressed the up volume rocker, and it didn't make any difference, I could barely make out the voice mail. (By the way, this was after I made the change mentioned above.)
I think the HD2 has a lot of strange quirks regarding volume, and I think these registry keys may hold the key for dealing with them. If anyone reading really understands the HD2's volume registry keys, please help us to understand them.
Thank you.
PS
I found the following page:
http://www.techparaiso.com/windows-...t-phone-volume-levels-on-windows-phone-device
which describes volume registry settings in \HKCU\Control Panel
It is really confusing, all the different volume settings in the HD2 registry, some generic to WM 6.5, and others specific to HTC and the HD2.
If someone really understands how all these volume settings interact, it would be great if a guide to them were posted!
Thanks in advance.
I couldn't get this to work. Does anyone know how to change the call volume via the registry? My phone crashed when I try to do it via the hard buttons on this ROM.

How to make phone call volume quieter?

Hi!
We all know that we can set volume using volume buttons. In normal situation I can go as quiet as I want and even set it to zero. However, during the phone call I am not able to to go below certain level. Is there way to get rid of that limit so that I can set any volume during the phone call from volume buttons? Sometimes I want to go one step quieter than the quietest volume that phone offers me to use during the phone call.
