Galaxy S3 screen light up issue - Galaxy S III General

Recently I have noticed that the screen fails to light up when it is placed somewhere cold, It's actually not pitch black, but i can barely see the clock appears on the screen. However put it somewhere warmer and it's fine.
Does anyone have the same problem and know how to fix this?

Where is this cold place?
Just where is this cold place? So your sgs3 does not light up after pressing the power/lock key? or does it light up but very faint?
I am very curious about this......

Yes this has happened to me.
I left my phone outside for ~ 1 hour (temperature was probably around 2 degrees Celsius), and it wouldn't wake up. The phone and specifically the battery was very cold. I let them both warm up to room temperature inside, and then the phone worked.

My HTC HD2 screen turned black / low light

The phone stayed in my pocket most of last night, but I picked it up to see when the last bus would go and thought the battery was dead. But it's like the sensors are broken, the screen is on the lowest brightness setting, just like the LEDs are completely broken. It has flashed a few times, and the brightness did come up to a normal level for a few seconds, but today it's completely dark/low light.
This makes it very hard to use the phone, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? I'm thinking about reflashing it, but I'm not sure that would help?
I think the screen is broken... I tried to hard reset it and it still doesn't light up. It's completely dark, so I can't see anything when I'm outside...
This is really bad...

Brightness all the way down = screen turning off

Anyone else seeing this?
I could have swore that on my first Nexus device (RMAed due to bad speaker), I could turn the brightness all the way down and use the tablet on the lowest setting.
On my new Nexus (no issues so far), if I turn the brightness dial all the way down, the backlight totally shuts off, causing the screen to be impossible to be seen.
I'm not RMAing this one because it's perfect otherwise, it's just very weird behavior
I got the brightness on mine all the way down & the screen isn't off.

Did you find a solution?
I have the same problem. If I turn down to minimum brightness (10% or less) my screen goes black. The only way I can see what's on the screen is if I shine a light, and then I can barely make out what the screen says. I assume this is an easy software fix. Also, if auto-brightness is on and I'm in a dark environment the screen will occasionally dip to the lowest setting and turn off.
I'm on my second device also. My first one had bad screen lift, flickering and occasionally screen glitches with black lines flickering through the screen. This one had no noticeable screen lift out of the box, but I'm reserving my judgement, as the device I just returned was fine for the first few hours and then got worse as I used it more.
I have both devices side by side, since Google mailed me the new one first. Comparing the two, I notice the old one's screen is slightly brighter, maybe about 10% or so, but definitely noticeable. Also my new one has a little bit of bleeding on the left side; not terrible as some pictures I've seen, but definitely there.
Update: The screen flickering returned, so I just requested a second replacement. This is actually ridiculous.

screen so dim cant see it

I i was wondering if anyone else had an issue like this. When the phone starts the screen is so dim that its impossible to see anything unless you look at it from an angle even then I cant see well enough to go in and adjust the brightness. This is the second time it has happened but i have no idea what causes it.

tiny red flashing light when on phone

if anyone else has noticed a tiny red quickly flashing light, just above and to the left of the blackberry logo at the top of the screen and was wondering wtf, i am hoping this is the cause.

looks like it might be a proximity sensor to test if the phone is pressed against your head, to turn the screen back on when you move the phone away.
im guessing/hoping the fact that it flashes while i have a headset plugged in is a bug.

Is my LCD stuffed? :(

I have an N9005 that I bought second hand just under a year ago. It's running the Phronesis 4 ROM. About a week ago a one pixel wide bright pink line appeared intermittently down the right-hand side. It looks like this (only bright freaking pink): http://forums.androidcentral.com/at...-bright-line-being-shown-display-p1070045.jpg
Today I was playing Fallout Shelter (always makes my phone pretty warm and eats battery). 15% battery warning comes up so I take it to charge. I notice the screen doesn't turn on. There is a momentary flash of dim colour at the top, but otherwise the screen is completely black. I tried pushing the power button several times, but all it did was a momentary flash of dim colour at the top but still black each time.
I took the battery out for a bit, then put it on to charge. The on screen charging display did not appear (stayed black) but after a bit the LED lit up to indicate charging as it would after the screen display turns off. I left it for a while and eventually the screen started working again (99% charge when I checked). I was then able to boot like normal.
However a while later the screen would not turn on again (just the momentary dim flash of colour at the top before black). I didn't do anything with it in this time. It just sat in standby before I tried using it again. The back button and hamburger menu buttons are not seemingly lighting up either. But the led works fine with notifications. I tested calling my phone and it rings fine - if I slide accept the call where it is normally on the screen, I can accept calls and talk like normal. But the screen remains black. So clearly the digitizer works fine.
I have tried taking out the battery for a long period of time, taking the battery out and discharging the remaining power by holding the power button (5 minutes), I have tried taking the phone apart and cleaning the display connector with some isopropyl alcohol and firmly reattaching. Screen is still black.
Is this a problem with a malfunctioning LCD or could it be something like the GPU? I don't want to pay $150-$250 for a replacement screen assembly only to find that it's some other problem
Thanks in advance!
I would suggest to get a new device.

I prefer to repair rather than replace unless I have absolutely no other choice, thanks.
