Anyone know why I lose mobile connection every 10 seconds? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am on AT&T, and every couple of days when on mobile data, my data will cycle from connected to not-connected every 10 seconds, making using the data useless. The only way I have found to fix it, is to turn on airplane mode, and then turn off airplane mode, and then it connects fine. I have looked at my logcat, but I do not see anything. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
CP

what ROM, kernel are you using.
people seem to never add it into their signatures anymore. thats why people do it for a reason, so it helps debug problems.

Sorry, and latest faux kernel and stock rom.

I have the same problem on stock rom and kernel. It's worse in NYC vs. Connecticut. I think it's also causing msm_hsic_host wake lock which is killing my battery.

Completely stock and same problem. Airplane mode toggle is my only fix too. It's got to be a software issue.

This is probably the simplistic explanation, but may not be the case: faulty SIM card.

Mobile data connection doesn't work after using WiFi. Only after reboot

Hey guys,
I am using ICS Evervolv a5 on my N1. The mobile data connection works only if I don't connect to a WiFi network. If I do, the only way I have found to make it work again is to reboot the phone.
This means that while I am at home, everything works through WiFi, however, if I leave home, I have to reboot my phone once I am sure the phone is far enough from my WiFi access point to be able to connect. Then, it starts working with the cellular data plan
The only thing I can relate to this is that I have the "application protection" app installed, protecting the settings menu do with a code so my kids don't mess up with that. However, is still hard to believe that's the culprit.
Thoughts?

I too had this problem when i updated from 4.0 to 4.1U2. I tried couple of things like clearing cache/dalvik cache etc. nothing worked.
Later i used 4EXT Recovery to format all except fat32. After this i did clean install and things are working fine
Do you just have gray bars or is the connection icon showing an x?
I had the problem that I could not connect and I had to clear the data of the Google framework to get it going again.
But that might have been another problem.

Try turning airplane mode on and then off, so you don't have to reboot the phone. It works for me.

I am getting the gray bars. It seems that is working these past couple of days. I will try clearing the data from the Google framework the next time it happens..

I noticed that I was getting grey bars over the last few days too, but using CM7. However it corrected itself yesterday. Perhaps it's something external causing it?

Just a quick note, i guess most people on xda know this but if not, you could try to use an app called catlog or other similar apps.
You can find out if programs are behaving badly by using it and by Googling errors you often find the solution faster.

None issue
well..
after switching from wifi if the data doesnt work.
just put ur phone on airplan mode for few seconds and back to normal network mode
it will start the data activity ...
i had the same issue but now i can use it after airplan mode
no reboot required

Anyone seeing these bugs?

1. After leaving the phone idle for a while, for example overnight, I find the phone completely non responsive. I know it is on as I saw the notification led flashing. I had to hold power and vol down to restart. This has happened twice.
2. Loses WiFi overnight. It shows no active WiFi connections when I wake up. I have to manually refresh the ap list. I have WiFi set to always on with the battery optimization enabled. This morning when I tried to disable and then restart WiFi, the phone rebooted.
Wondering if I should wipe and flash the stock image. I'm currently unlocked and rooted with cwm touch via the nexus toolkit.

Not getting that either. Did have a problem today with Wi-Fi but I think it's because I'm using public Wi-Fi that needs you to sign in.

I'm running completely stock. Have you flashed a custom ROM?

Not quite seen your WIFI issue, but very similar. I've had the N4 apparently holding on to hotspots even though I'm miles away (and another hotspot should be picked up). Switching off WIFI is quick, but putting back on, the phone seems to take about a minute, and it then connects to the proper hotspot at that point.
Every day or two, I find myself putting the phone into and out of Airplane mode just to clear the radios and start again because a change in location has not been reflected. Mostly WIFI, but sometimes cell too (I get the grey reception symbol)
I'm running stock but I unlocked and rooted using mskip's toolkit. I also have cwm touch 6.0.0.19 to replace the stock recovery. In addition, I added the JB AOSP browser.
If these issues continue I will probably just do a nandroid backup, wipe and flash the stock image.

I actually haven't seen that issue but I don't use public hotspots.

Wi-Fi always turning itself on?? :(

Last night I installed a few toggle widgets. First for auto rotation then for sound profiles then the Bluetooth one and in the end for Wi-Fi.
However after installing the Wi-Fi widget.. I noticed Wi-Fi would turn itself on without even asking my permission. This I noticed when I woke up today morning and saw an unexpected amount of battery drain. I immediately checked and the Wi-Fi was on. I remember correctly that I had switched it off in night (which comes under my daily habits after hitting the bed). Anyhow I immediately got rid of that widget by uninstalling but issue still persists.
Can anyone suggest anything to stop phone from turning Wi-Fi on itself?
Below is the app and my Wi-Fi's advance settings.

By the way.. I must add.. My phone is totally stock. And I I have had no problems with any of the apps prior to installation of this widget.

Sometimes apps like this can be a little flaky. I have HD widgets that I use to turn on my wifi and it can misbehave also. I have compensated by having a app that turns the wifi off at a particular time of day. You can also set it to turn wifi off when the screen is off. Other than that I would suggest looking for a widget that works better. There is a ton out there.
It was my bad that I downloaded this widget. I don't want to download some app to ''manage'' Wi-Fi setting off. I want to make it how it was prior this widget installation... Turning on and of myself. Is there any way.... Without the help of another app or widget

I think i need to change KEEP WIFI ON DURING SLEEP option to Never.
Can anyone attach a snapshot of his advance settings in wifi option? Like i have attached above
I believe it's the "battery guru" app you have installed... that's primarily what it does, keep you on Wi-Fi as much as possible

Emmmm.. You sure?
Because it started last night after I installed that widget. It "never" happened before that. :s
Can u post ut advance settings page's screenshot? Just need to match settings.
Pretty sure... it was happened to me, I noticed it after the learning mode was completely

So far I think this was the cause.. Snapdragon BatteryGuru.
Go to the settings in BatteryGuru and turn OFF the "Manage Wi-Fi" option. It's been an hour I have turned it off and wifi hasn't turned itself on. Therefore, I believe this option was causing wifi to show up.
I remember a friend of mine turned this option ON (the same day when I installed that wifi toggle). I just realized that after reading QUIETLYloud's post. Thanks a bunch mate.
This will help people in future.

Wifi Issues: Keeps Turning off & On

I've seen other people having issues with wifi but haven't read of anyone finding a fix. I'm watching the on/off switch go back and forth as my G2 continues to try and establish a connection. It connects to my router for a second, then disconnects...This has been keeping up all day.
Any suggestions?
Already reset my router. Tried to WPS push button method.

Did that. Nothing. Also tried to connect to the public wifi at work, same problem.
turn off battery saving stuff like switch off wifi when not using
Has anyone have a solution to this?
My G2 did the same thing as the OP says. It will turn itself on and off (about 5 second between each on and offs) but ONLY if the bluetooth is turned OFF. If the bluetooth is ON, no problem whatsoever. I usually left my bluetooth ON because I have a bluetooth headset and I want it to be ready every-time I want to use them. But, this night, when I turn off the bluetooth, the wifi keeps going on and off, and yes, battery drained and no internet connection for me
Please help if anyone have a solution for this. I'm in stock rom (D802) 4.4.2 rooted, with xdabbeb's camera mod, the only "root" apps that I've installed so far. Reboot and full power off is the first thing that I do, still no cure.

Sorry for replying to an old post, but I have exactly the same problem here, only difference is that in my case, charging stoped at 66%. I changed the battery, the charging issue fixed but still have the wifi/bt issue.
I flashed stock kk rom, and 3 custom roms with kk, lp and mm base, nothing..
Thx for any help.
Edit : my phone is a D800
WiFi issue is still there

No wifi

Guys I'm trying to fix my daughters phone, I've looked around and I tried a few things to no avail.
The issue is the phone is on 4.4.2 nb1 from an ota update. The phone used to be my sister in law's. Before she gave it to my daughter she did a factory reset and now Bluetooth and WiFi both won't turn on. No matter what you do.
I tried to Odin a stock nb1 image to see if maybe the ota update was corrupted or something but it only starts and runs for like 2 seconds before it will just hang and do nothing.
Any ideas?

Try turning wifi power save mode off. Dial *#0011#, press menu then wifi and then switch it off and see if it does anything.
