yea i know that. And i am doing that only to unlock my phone but it would be better if we could get soft keys for it. the hardware keys really get me annoyed when touch dont work.
i dont know why there isn't any softkeys.
but for android roms they are easy available on xda.

Yes, since my hd2 got problems with that hard button, I am using only android 4+
The hard press helps just for a while. I have also changed magldr to clk because of necessity of pushing that button when booting out flashing other rom.
Now I didn't have to push it for a long time...

yea. but if you running windows rom on hd2
there are no soft keys for it.
and everytime you have to press the red button for lock/unlock the phone.
i rarely doubt on developers that why they are not able to provide just a simple softkeys when it is needed by every other person using hd2

Unlocking Screenlock without using Power Button

Is it possible to lock n unlock screen without using power button,( with help of touch alone) ?
I dont like pressing power button often..
pl reply...
Same here. Been trying to find an app or widget to put my wildfire on standby without having to press the power button. Thanks.

I could suggest you guys two things (not entirely what you're looking for but...close enough :-D ):
- using a custom ROM that allows you to wake up with trackpad (i think WildPuzzle has that)
- using an app called No Lock ( http://www.appbrain.com/app/no-lock/org.jraf.android.nolock ). With this on, you only need to press the power button, no longer swype down (or sideways) to unlock ;-)
hi phunctionist.
tried the second option you suggested and it works pretty well. only problem is I need it the other way around (put the device on standby, not to wake it up)
thanks anyway. i will still give this a try.

[Q] unresponsive end call key

im running JDMS 1.6.2 and recently my end call key will not respond. maybe once out of twenty key presses but most of the time it will not work to lock/unlock the phone. any suggestions?

Try a different rom. If it still persists in another android rom, then try winmo. If it still persists in winmo, then it's your button that's the problem.
It can't be the button due to the fact I can use the the key to power on the phone and it works with every press. I can't enter the magldr menu since the end call key doesn't register so when I hold it when powering on it still boots straight into android.

Then just change to a different Rom.
how do i load a new rom? i cant get into the magldr menu to flash a new rom is there another way to do it

You can use power button but not end call button? Do you know that power button and end call button is just the same button?

Then try getting in a different build. Do a long press on power button during power on.

it seems as if as soon as the phone powers on the power button does not respond because if i do a long press on the power button it still boots straight to android and doesnt bring up the magldr menu
so ive tried 2 nand builds and a nandram build as well as a windows mobile 6.5 rom and still the problem persists. but how can the actual hardware of the key be broken if the button can be used to turn the phone on? tried doing hard reset and that didnt do anything. is there anyway to do a 100% clean wipe of the phone that will completely remove magldr and CWM from the phone?
It's called a task 29. task 29 wipes the phone completely.
I still think it's the hardware though.
did the task 29 still doesnt work. but how can the hardware be the issue of the button still works to power on the phone? has anyone else ran across this problem.
thanks or all informations

Unlock problem

Does anyone else encounter any issue unlocking their phone? Have to click the lock/unlock button before the unlock screen respond.

Try unlocking with any button other than the end call button.
Cyanogen rom have an option for volume button press to unlock
I tried using other buttons and sometimes it works sometimes it won't. Its like the touch screen function does not work. Would anyone know if i need to tweek something to solve the problem?
By the way thanks for the previous replies.

I don't have any issue with the power menu. Only with the unlocking. I tried the suggestion of kompeak but even with cm rom I'm still getting the same issue and the volume option doesnt work for me.

Power Button

I got my HD2 Used so i dont know how button is supposed to be. Is there supposed to be a click to it?
Mine end button 'clicks', as do all the others apart from the back button. However, as long as the button still functions, I'm not too worried
But in answer to your question, I believe that all hardware buttons should 'click' when pressed on our HD2's...

[Q] Change Unlock Button from power key to any other Button.

Is there any option to change unlock screen from power button to any other button.I feel by continuous use of power button may damage. Please help?
In cyanogen can wake up with volume keys
CM7 based Roms allow you to set your volume keys to wake your phone. But you'll still have to press the power button if you want to put it back to sleep.
Not sure about other Roms.

Actually you can download "Screen off and lock" app from market and lock the phone using your screen/long press search button...

WidgetLocker (Lockscreen replacement, get it via the market) also supports waking up your device via volume buttons.
A lot of other costum ROM's provide flashable zip's to wake the device up via volume buttons like ARHD. (As someone said, CM7 has this feature integrated)
DN41
Thanks for the reply quickly bros and one thing always using power button will damage or no problem for using.
No, it shouldn't, it's made to be extensively used, as long as you treat it with some care, you shouldn't be afraid...
