Has anyone tried them yet or currently using their service? $60 unlimited with 2gb of data on at&t network seems like a decent deal, but they seem pretty similar to H20, who offers 2gb of data for the same price but throttles you after 500mb. Just curious cause I can't seem to find too many reviews of them on the web.

im on straight talk at&t now, this is my first month... i got throttled halfway into the month and im positive i havent even used 1gb yet.
im jumping ship on them as soon as my month is up. I came from T-Mobile prepaid and I don't wanna deal with this petty a** throttle stuff. all I need is 2gb a month, I never go over that and I don't really stream or tether. really wanna keep the at&t coverage though, after using it for the past 2 weeks I've realized its waaaaaaaay better than tmo in my area

When you got throttled, did they turn off data completely or was data just extremely slowed?

Seems just exactly like H2O Wireless if you ask me, i'm using them now. ....
LOL - Actually if you look at the bottom you'll see it's from Locus Telecom anyways which is the owner of H2O and others. America Movil (Tracfone, Straight Talk and Net10) is the other big one but i hear they are wanting to buy Locus or maybe just the H2O portion.
So this is just a copy of their other offerings with a different name to do extra revenue stream I guess. People might have a bad deal with H2O so they switch to Black Wireless LOL only to still be with the same company.
I'll save $15 and stick with ST.

not yet, I opened a ticket on their fb page the other day but it didn't fix anything. and I don't update or download stuff on data I have WiFi at home. I've been on the 2gb plan from tmo for a while before this so I'm pretty mindful of data usage, on a regular month I'm between 1.5-1.7gb.

Dunno I'm on the st Tom plan right now and have bumped up against the 2gb "cap" a number of times with no throttling but I've gone back and forth (between Tom and AT&T) since getting st so I hope st isn't going to start throttling at 1gb.
I just got my N4 today. Don't know if it has been mentioned here before, I put my GoPhone $50 unlimited sim (dumb phone plan) in, data and calls worked fine. Been using for a few months with a Note2 N7100 and had no issues with throttling. No telling how long before ATT starts blocking it. My Note N7000 was blocked form the first day. I'm currently testing the TMobile $30 dollar plan to see if their coverage works for me.

still working fine? I'm looking for some alternatives but the mvno's are kinda iffy with the data ambiguity
Black Wireless
I bought a sim card two Saturdays ago. I only got it on the following Friday, pretty slow shipping.
Activation was painless, it worked fine. I have not tried data yet. I was excited about the international calling. But they are a lot more expensive than what they claim. For example, they said I have 19 minutes to call cell phones in Argentina, well, I dialed a cell phone number and I got a message saying I only had credit to talk for 5 minutes! So, I hung up, didn't make the call since it was four times more expensive than what they claim. Same when I call to landlines, I was supposed to have like 10 hours, the first time I call it said I had like 6 hours left, I talked for about 4 minutes. The next day I make another call to Argentina and it said I had about 4 and a half hours, and this call was about 6 minutes. Next I make another call and I get the message that I have 3 and a half hours to talk. So for each call they are charging me like a whole hour! It is definetly not what they are advertising. If there is a connection charge, they don't state it anywhere I could find it.
I sent a support e-mail two days ago and have yet to hear back.
So, I would not recommend this service to anybody.
For those with slow speeds on ST att, they have a new apn.
make sure you are using the new apn tfdata.
I have used over 4gb and still cranking 6mb down 3 mb up.

Is there a way to check your data usage with ST besides tracking it with your phone? I have been flashing different things on my N4 so that in not accurate.
1. I used 11215 and got $5 off with free shipping.
2. Paid for 1 month and got second month free.
3. Decent customer rep.
4. They include free International direct dial minutes. Around 300 minutes in $30 plan and so forth.
5. Got my SIM in 3 days.
6. Porting took 5 hours.

The service will require a special Android-based phone. Calls and SMSs will be routed via VOIP when on wifi and via cell towers otherwise.

Summery:
The phone will primary use wifi for voice and texting and if no wifi is within range it will jump over to the Sprint network for voice, texting, and 3g data (no data cap). I guess you will need a CDMA android phone. Not sure yet if you have to buy a special phone from them but I'm sure someone will come up with a rom to flash to a Sprint android phone.
If this is all true it would be great to have one phone number, text, and unlimited data for only $19 with VoIP! I'll sell my G2x and find a phone that will work on this in a heart beat.
Let me know your thoughts.
I think I'm going to get one. If the phone if just an LG Optimus maybe someone can help me dump the ROM and flash it to a normal Sprint Optimus so you don't have to buy there phone.
From what I've read, you need a phone with special hardware sold by Republic, and judging from the picture on the website, it's probably going to be the LG Optimus S/V.
If it pans out and works like they say it will, I'd considering switching from Virgin Mobile. I'm already using the Optimus V, so it wouldn't be that much of a change for me.
I wonder how much they are going to charge for the phone?

How much cellular usage is too much?
It depends. Even assuming 0% wifi usage, for example, you could consume 550 minutes, send 150 texts, and download 300 megabytes of data without crossing the community’s fair use threshold. Everyone's usage patterns will be different, but we're confident you’ll be amazed at how little cellular you actually use when you have a phone that makes it easy to leverage the power of your Wi-Fi networks.

The pay as you go plan is 50 cents/day for unlimited web, only on the days you use it. It's 20 cents per minute for voice calls, but if you froze the dialer (or never used it) and didn't give out the Boost number, voice would never get used.
Since GrooVeIP will work over 3G or Wifi, your max cost per month (after phone and GrooVeIP) would be $15.50.

T-zones is a grandfather data plan on T-mobile that will allow you to use unlimited data on their network. T-zones will usually work with unbranded T-mobile phones or phones that T-mobile doesn't sale. (some exceptions) There have been a few users over at Howardforums in the the T-zones thread that confirmed T-zones works on the Nexus 4, but it's early. T-zones worked on the Nexus S for about week or two before everybody started getting the up-sell message.

As of Jan, 7th, 2013, tzone/web2go ($6/$10) still works on the Nexus 4 out of the box. - I bought it straight from Google Playstore, so it's non-branded. Don't know if that makes a difference.
As of today, mine stopped working, i have the google unbranded nexus for maybe a year or less have had tzones since day one with no configuration changes, today sometime mid day i started getting a network icon on the top left with ? above it, any site i try to go to sends me to a upsell page.
Are there any settings i can manually configure or change to get this back?

running 4.2.1
Seems to work on my end, but I've only had the N4 for a day. On the other hand, it worked with my Galaxy Nexus for 6 months (still works, but I replaced it with the N4), worked on my Nexus S for over a year, and on my Nexus One until I replaced it. However, I know people with the same phones for whom it started redirecting to the upsell page rather quickly. It almost seems random.
I hope that it still works in a week or two. If not, I'm going to a certain unnamed MVNO that uses T-Mobile.
My 3 contact is about to expire and I'm seriously considering using giffgaff. £12/month gets you 250 mins, unlimited Web and texts. 3 is good and very fast but the cover is non existent in a few places. Just asking for people's opinion on gifgaff and if it's worth a look.

Thanks guys, do you mainly get a 3G signal? How is coverage compared to three? Is 2G usable?
Sent via TCP/IP
I'm on giffgaff, and yeah, the prices are phenomenal. But if your not happy with 3s reception, you won't be best pleased if you switch. As you probably know, giffgaff uses O2, and they (along with Vodafone) are the worst provider for signal. I hardly ever manage to make a phone call while out and about without it cutting out. Id study o2's coverage map to make sure your area has coverage before making the jump.
EE or Virgin are your best bet signal wise. Im in the haggeling stages with Virgin atm, and so far, I've got them down to £8 for a 30 day contract, unlimited texts, unlimited data, and 1200 minutes.
As I say, check different networks coverage, then ring round making demands. You'll be surprised what you get if you ask!!
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 using Tapatalk
Suck it and see buy a tenners worth of credit and see how you get on .
As GiffGaff are O2 it is something i would check first via the coverage maps for O2 network just in case of blackspot where you use the phone .
jje
When my Contract ended with T-mobile last year, I switched to Giffgaff & tbh couldn't be happier.
O2's Signal in my area is brilliant 5 bars H+ 98% of the time, even when i was in the remote part of the Lake District i still got a good signal.
I pay £15 per month for 400mins unlimited text & internet, all my smartphones from now on are bought Sim Free, already have the money stashed away for the Galaxy S IV next year. :good:
Great feedback dudes, I've ordered a free GG simcard, can I realistically use this to determine the strength of the signal as a test before I think about moving (I don't trust coverage maps that much - bad experiences)

Yep, try Giffgaff and see what the signal is like. Three have been excellent for me though, £24 a month for unlimited texts and internet plus 900 mins anytime minutes and 5000 three to three minutes, got my galaxy s2 with it for free as well. Sold it when the S3 came out.
GiffGaff is awesome Everytime my contract runs out i use giffgaff for awhile, This gives me time till a new device comes out or is released. And the best part is there is no contract to sign. You top it up every month on your own term. So if you don't top up then no minutes which is fine with me.
Best part is you always get Unlimited data. But be aware that they do not take kindly if you tether and download torrents and etc. You will have you sim suspended and ordering another one to your address is hard. Unless of course you email them an apology letter and say you will never do it again. Then they will give you a second chance.
Lol why do i know this because i was the one who tethered all day and downloaded 129.9GB worth of data LMAO!!
Other then that their price plans are awesome ranging from 5 to 20quid i prefer the £20 one as i need the minutes..
Signal is awesome for me no drops we always get full bars here in UK/London or east London where i live. Never had an issue with signal..

Nope you can tether but if you do too much they will send you a horrible email lol.. Then your sim gets blocked out. But it is my fault at that time i didn't have net at home i was waiting for my bt package to arrive. And i watch alot of films and tv shows plus i upload 24/7.. Seeing it was unlimited i took advantage. So you can't really blame giffgaff. They do not offer you a service for you to connect to your pc and use it like normal internet. To be fair to giffgaff it does say 'unlimited mobile web' that means it's unlimited data for use on your phone. It then says tethering is not allowed.
Dont think that they are hiding anything

Fair enough..
Can I topup with say £10 and try it out, then if happy, transfer my current phone number and goto a monthly contract?

You can transfer your number no problems, but giffgaff are pay as you go only. Although, I top up via direct debit on the 1st of every month, so it works kind of like a 30 rolling contract.
Giffgaff have been quite lenient with me. I've taken the piss on many occations, but as long as its not constant, I don't think they really care. I've never had a snotty email, even though I've used stupid amounts of data. Exceeding the limited day after day is bound to raise eyebrows regardless of network. Even 3's all you can eat data plan has a fair usage cap, and speeds are significantly reduced if you go over board too often.

Just called a few T-Mobile stores around Chicago, they all have Nexus 4 in stock. Low quantities like 5 at each stores I called, but at least they are stocking them now. Last month when I called, none of them had it.
I bet the carriers took up the supply for now, and we won't see them back on the Play Store until February / March is my guess.
I am tempted to go to T-Mobile now, they said can have two phones on full unlimited family plan for like $120. Right now, I am on Straight Talk, pay $97 for two numbers. Is it worth the extra $20 to go T-Mobile, on their full network ? Only beef I have with Straight Talk, is slow network, I am on the ATT SIM, and it seems pretty darn slow, the last couple of months, with my international One X, and group texting barely works, I can only send single texts, but when I do group messages of 2 - 3 people at same time, takes forever to go through, sometimes never goes.
I was going to hold out for the Play Store to get back in stock, and use on Straight Talk, but so far, the few months on ST, I think it's ok, but not the best network speeds, and some spotty areas once in awhile. T-Mobile will sell the Nexus 4 on contract for $199ea.
Opinion ???
Why not get a T-mobile SIM for Straight Talk?
I'm in the same boat, I had 2 nexus phones both are gone now. Returned/sold, I want one for myself and T-Mobile in my area has them, they want 250 on contract with a 50 rebate or 150 plus 20 a month with a different plan. Obviously I'll be stuck in a contract and buying the phone outright is not an option because they want $550.
I am thinking of signing up, checking out the service in my area. If the service is good then keep it, if it sucks then I return it within the 14 days.
well $20 more per month will get you unlimited HSPA+ if your area offers it... and if it does, your down speed should be at least 8mb/sec
Thanks for the replies

I think its worth it.. I was on Solavei... And I was getting alright speeds but nothing that great I say roughly 6-8 downloaded so I decided to try T-Mobile's Family value plan. I bought me and my fiancé Nexus 4s for Google Play store by the way. But as soon as I got on T-Mobile's network my download speeds shot up quite a bit I came from 6-8 Mbps to 23 mbps. Keep in mind the uploaded was always the same with both providers but I found it weird that Solavei is on T-Mobile's towers but getting crappy speeds come to T-Mobile and getting amazing download speeds.... Anyway I think its worth it I pay $110.00 @ month for our plan I have unlimited while my lady has 2GB of data ( she doesn't use much data) Lol
Below is my speeds to prove you I am not lying:

I like Solavei! And I get good speeds! I average around 14MBPS!
It is totally worth it. I the phone is great and the network is good if you have hspa+. What phone do you have? If the phone you have already bis pretty good you light not see a huge difference.

Currently use an international One X on Straight Talk, I bought off Craigslist, it's a little flaky. I am running CM10 ROM, stock Android works very well on this phone. Just some issues with group message texts, and not being able to see incoming calls, when currently on a call. But I used to have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus before switching to Straight Talk, and I miss the on screen menu keys, not a fan of hardware keys at bottom of the phone. I felt the screen size and overall size of the Galaxy Nexus was perfect, the One X, seems just a bit too large, mainly the screen being taller on the One X, harder to one hand operate, where as my Galaxy Nexus was easier one handed, and I think the Nexus 4, is the same size as the Galaxy Nexus ?
Question at hand. Go to T-Mobile sign up on their contract and plan to get the Nexus 4 ? Or wait till stock is back on the Play Store in mid February per LG today, and stick on Straight Talk ?
I purchased by Note 4 on the 4th of December and based upon my previous usage statistics, I chose a 2GB plan. (This is for a single line mind you). I took a trip to California for a couple of weeks and where I was, there was no Internet and no wifi, I was forced to use my 4GLTE the entire time. This required me to upgrade my data to 3GB on the fly and when I finally returned home on the 22nd, I had used 2.54GB data of 3GB.
On Jan 1 my bill cycle ended and my DATA USAGE should have been reset to 0/3GB. I left the house to run errands yesterday and while waiting for my car to get fixed, I decided that I would watch some youtube videos. I popped up the widget that verizon supplied and I seen that I was now at 2.58GB of data out of 3GB. I called Verizon 611 and the rep said that they were sure that it was reset and that I most likely left Facebook open and that ate up 2+GB of data in 2 days, seems legit! NOT. The rep then tells me that I need to disable Mobile Data if I am using Wifi because programs will still use it (Now I know this is the case with some applications and download boosters, but I do not have any of those installed). She then sent me over to technical support to see what is using up all the data.
The technical support rep answered and I was so upset that I was almost to tears. He was polite and said that he would help me figure out what happened and how to keep it from happening in the future. He did the calculations and he came back with 2.1GB at first then after checking my phones usage, it did not match up. He admitted that he miscalculated and what he was seeing was 2.1MB of usage and not 2.1GB. He opened a ticket and also switched me to the Loyalty plan, giving me 4GB of data for 2GB price, all in all I ended the call with a smile.
TLDR: Make sure your Data is getting reset each month. Double check your usage on your phone to make sure it matches Verizons usage. If not open a ticket with support and have them review/correct the miscalculation.
Hope this helps someone else.

That sucks it didn't reset but good they helped you. Glad I'm still on unlimited

Then why waste space with your post?
To the OP, I am like Wizzle, my billing cycles on the 23rd but my data doesn't roll over till the 28th. The data should cycle around the day of the month that you actually started with Verizon.

no more. the only ones with it are us who refuse to upgrade and spend full retail on phones. I've been out of contract for years now.

Yep me too. What do I look like getting a bad ass phone and can't use it the way I like? Lol brand new phone and have to put it down when data limit reaches threshold lol I feel sorry for the people that upgraded. When you're out of town you're definitely going to use alot. Unlimited comes in handy during those times.

That's pretty strange, indeed! For me however, my data doesn't reset until like four or five days after the bill is paid. My billing and data cycles aren't on the same period, so I would definitely check on that and see if you're in that same boat, too!
Off topic but fwiw I hate Verizon! Had to get it because of a move(I had T-Mobile) and for the few months I've had them I've had nothing but problems. Crap speeds, paying out the ass for 20 measly gigs, had to pay full price for a DE Note 4 for root and an unlocked bootloader..my last run in with them was yesterday when I was approaching my data cap and I tried to up to 30gb...they tried to say they couldn't since I had video calling on my phone..which doesn't make sense since one I don't have video calling and two what would it matter if I did?!?! I'm so sick of them its nuts. Plus the employees in the store are the dumbest known to man. I told them if I get an overage I'm not paying it since I tried multiple times to up my data and they were no help and if they hit me with the charges I'd dump them for AT&T and use a T-Mobile phone...they didn't care nor do I think they even listened. AT&T gives double the data for the same price, T-Mobile & Sprint have Unlimited data..if anyone can switch from Verizon they should..to hell with it I'm starting a petition where I live for a tally of people that would gladly switch to T-Mobile if they would put up a damn tower for LTE.lol
I still have my unlimited data as well! The bad part is Verizon took away using other lines to update and just switch it over to your unlimited line. That really pissed me off. That's a bad move and says a lot on how they feel about us with unlimited data. They want to so badly force us out of it. But not going to budge! Between me and my wife we use 14gb a month. And that's without root now so no WiFi tether. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only 1 spending $700. On a phone once a year!

I'm sure we'll have unlimited data as well in the near future. Look at how we had a limit on minutes and texts. I remember when a had 500 min/MO. & 500 texts also. Weekends were free. Lol that was so 90s
