Message Center number for Nexus 4?? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am unable to send MMS, and tech support is telling me that I need to enter a message center number into my phone, however, they are stumped and so am I as to where to enter it in order to enable mms?

Google tech support is telling you this? Call up your carrier or search for its APN settings. Who's your carrier? Everything else working?

Sorry, Rogers Wireless tech support was telling me this...
He said to go to my stock messaging app and go to settings and look for a spot to enter my MMS "telephone number" -- but I didnt see an option for that in the stock messaging app.

Ok so as an update.
All of my settings are per Rogers APN and everything, checked using the *#*#4636#*#*
I turned off my wireless and tried again with the stock messaging app, and it worked no problem, so it appears the hang up is when the phone is in wifi mode?
Edit: tried again with wifi and it worked no problem, but only with the stock messaging app, not with GO SMS

SMSC is only needed for SMS. For MMS to work your APN is what matters.
Now with that out the way, does your APN specify "mms" in the APN Type field? GoSMS should try to use that as a result. Never used it so don't know all it's details

MMS sending fails

I searched for "mms" and "multimedia message" but those came up with nothing, so...
There's been alot of talk about SMS's not getting delivered/sent on time, but I've never had any issues with those. However, today I tried to send an MMS...and it failed. A notification came up basically saying that the sending of the message had failed.
I checked the MMS server settings, and they were ok. I can see that the phone establishes a connection (which is configured properly, I checked), but it just cannot send the message.
Any ideas what might be the matter? Anyone else with the same problem? Can anyone confirm they have MMS working without problems?
Thanks
Same problem for me too.I also can not receive mms,it is connected,I am getting information that I got mms,but when I open it,there is no attachment, only information to download it,and if I try to do so,after some attempts it says "unable to download mms".Connection is ok.
I had the same problem. When I connected the mobile for the first time, the settings for my carrier were installed and I assumed everything was ok. But couldn't receive/send MMS or navigate in the internet.
What I did was to confirm in the website the settings and they were not ok. After I manually changed them, everything was working.
Yeah, I did check the settings for MMS server and also the connection that it's using, and they're both fine. Still, all I get when trying to send an MMS is that "unable to send message" notification.
I also contacted HTC today, and after making sure I had the right settings, they naturally asked me to hard reset. But I don't wanna... Maybe I'll just wait and see until the first ROM update (it had better come soon!) and if that doesn't fix it, I'll give 'em hell.
I did hard reset and it did not help...
same problem here as well , i entered mms settings manually but still no go
I have same problem, checked settings 10 times and reconfigured 5 times, still notnihg.
Alright folks!
I had the same issue, MMS wouldn't send or download on Vodafone UK. The solution was to go into the store and get a new sim card for the phone.
The guys in store checked the account was enabled for MMS and that the phone settings were correct before trying a new sim.
Hope the fix is as simple for you

I had the very same issue, as the MMS provision on my account was corrupt. Quick call to Voda and a post on their eforum got the issue fixed. The settings which my phone had already for the carrier were and are working fine.

i had the same issue...operator sent me settings, but still were unable to send or recieve mms, even that everything was as it should be.
error was in server ip address. in settnigs there was server addres, something like 991.091.099.992
i tryed to remove zeroes so now it looks like 991.91.99.992 and its started to work imedeately
hope this helps.
i have the same problem and i look over internet and find solution
in mms setings in field ip address you must put number like this
212.91.99.91
if you put like this 212.091.099.091 in won't work
you must put away zero
i don't now why but this is it
now my mms works fine in sending and receiving

Trouble sending/receiving MMS with G2...

Note: Before you continue reading, you should be informed that I am using a GSM network in Sweden/Norway.
I having trouble sending and receiving MMS on my G2. I went to the company and added the required settings to my phone and restarted the phone, but when I now try to send a MMS, it just says "Sending.." and when I try to download a MMS, it just says "Downloading..". Nothing happens. HOW do I fix this? I've tried turning Wi-fi OFF and let Data Roaming be ON, but it still doesn't help.
I get message from people that they've attached a MMS, but when I try to download it, it simply won't download...
Any solutions to this?
ensure your internet access point type is 'default' and your mms one is 'mms'. Exactly like that, in lower case.
That's what was stopping me.
ah, darnit. It still doesn't work. I tried the settings you told me and I even called the network company to get settings, and they just told me that there's an automatic configuration menu/button for G2 that automatically configures the internet and mms to the proper settings, and it was supposed to be under MENU -> ALL APPLICATIONS -> SETUP, but I cannot find that on my G2... Wonder what they were talking about...
Any of you know whart they were talking about?
No one who knows how to solve this..?
My suggestion is check apn settings and maked sure their right to your carrieir..
Eg I'm tmobile so mine be along like
epc.tmobile.com
123.456.88
Mms.tmobile
115647kb
Something that...
And try do do a factory rest in some ODD cases that just does the thing..also using a third party app. Try use stock messenger to download or vise versa

MMS Hell

Hi everyone,
I'm having big issues with MMS and my GSII.
I bought it from Expansys.
I live in Australia.
I've got it running on the Telstra NextG Network.
I haven't touched it in ways Samsung wouldn't approve of.
I can't send MMS messages.
I've rang Telstra many, many times and they set this up and I turned it on and off and they sent me settings and I turned it on and off and they walked me through entering the settings manually and they transferred me to the really technical team, as high as you can go on high priority.
They told me to pull out the battery and sim card without turning the phone off, and to wait three minutes and try again and if that didn't work, to contact Samsung.
Of course, it still didn't work, and, of course, I came here.
I hope you guys can help.
:s
I'm not sure what information I need to give you that is helpful here, but I've taken some screenshots that may be related to the problem.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out. I'm not sure what to do if I can't get MMSs to work.

Which error does your phone give you?
Server response error.
edit:
Just added the picture showing the error. Forgot that one first time.
I had that problem sending myself a mms. Server response error. On top of the fact that all mms coming in and out was a video instead of a picture with the stock mms.apk. I installed cm7 mms.apk and everything displays perfectly and i just sent myself a message.

Mine works fine and the only difference between my settings and yours is that I have authentication type for both Telstra Internet and Telstra MMS set to "PAP or CHAP". Try changing both these settings.
I have the same problem. After factory reset mms works for a day or two then the same error appears. I am on Rogers in Canada. All default apn/mms settings are correct.

How would I go about doing this? Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob.
Does it require rooting? I want to stay away from rooting until it's simple and fail-safe.

Try this: MMS "APN" Telestra.Internet and not Telestra.mms (since mms initiates telestra.internet
I had the same problem with T-Mobile and my sgs2. I think the problem lies with the messaging app as all was fine once I changed to go SMS, problem solved.
When I am sending MMS, I turn Wi-Fi off.
I usually add Topic/Subject and some text to my MMS.
This way my MMS sending works almost 90%.
Sometimes I have to delete MMS which is in "sending" status and try again. This way I got 100% success rate. I have no errors though. Try PAP on both Internet and MMS APN settings.
Have the same problem. Try to manually enter the phonenumber to the recipient. That works for me
hey guys, ive been trawling the internet for solutions and still cant get my mms to work (cant send or receive). has anyone got a working solution? i read somewhere that the galaxy s had a similar problem and needed a combined apn for internet and mms - does anyone have this?
(im on telstra in australia)
What a Nightmare
I also had this problem only SGS2. Bought from MobiCity and running in Australia on Telstra NextG. Unable to send MMS but all other SMS and internet working fine.
I looked up the Telstra website and entered their APN settings ... No MMS.
I looked up the Telstra settings on Ausdroid and entered these ... No MMS.
I found information on how to delete APN and put internet+MMS into a single APN as suggested for the original SGS ... No MMS. Grrrrrrrrr...
I used the Telstra website to SMS the APN settings direct to the phone ... No MMS and increasing frustration.
I sent an email to MobiCity telling them of my problem, as well as what I had already tried. They very helpfully sent me the Telstra APN settings ... which still didn't work.
I tried the suggestion mentioned here to type the phone number directly rather than use a contact from my Google contacts ... finally some success.
Then, thinking 'I'll be stuffed if I am going to lookup and type the number every time's, Installed GO SMS Pro from the Market, and it just works. Looks better, improved functionity including SMS scheduling. And Free.
It makes me think it is a problem with the stock messaging app. Anyway, thanks to the person who suggested GO SMS. Much appreciated.
I've was not able to send MMS to some contacts. It was the problem with spaces in numbers just like Outlook adds after the country code. I have cleared all spaces from numbers (via Kies) and now MMS works.
MMS error was something like 'cannot connect to server'. All settings for MMS was correct (like APN, ports, etc). SMS to a number with space works. Checked on 2 SGS2 with XXKE4 and XXKF2
I have a Hell of a nightmare as well with finding what I m looking for about MMS :
I want to change sending Priority to highest and can't seem to find a way in the SG2 menu or even with an app or MOD....
I posted a new thread on this issue.... : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16892768#post16892768
thanks for any help....
For all those who are on the Rogers network, I spoke to a tech rep yesterday and apparently it is a network bug that they are aware off and trying to fix. He said to try and input the contact numbers manually instead. I tried and it does work if you do it this way.
I am not on Telstra, but do you have the correct settings in the messaging app-settings-message centre/smsc ?
That was my prob a long time ago on my Sgs1.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I had the same problem. I had to remove the country code +61 from all my phone numbers for MMS to work. Standard MMS settings work just fine.
Big Thanks

I just wanted say a big thanks for this information. I don't have a Samsung but an HTC HD2 and it appears that I was the only person on Earth who couldn't send an MMS with my nandroid rom on the HTC HD2... or there were lots living without it. Your suggestion re "PAP or CHAP" has MMS sending perfectly on my phone with Telstra NextG. Reproduceable too as I now have my wife's HTC HD2 sending MMS as well on Telstra!

LS980 Straight Talk GSM MMS Problems

So I just picked up a sprint G2 off craigstlist and have finally gotten the sim card working, recognized, all that jazz. However, MMS doesn't work at all... I'm sure I put in the tfdata apn correctly (using an app that links to the apn settings, which I couldn't find), but data works. MMS does not. It's confusing. Anyone have suggestions?

Found a trick that worked. If you press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, this menu will pop up. Depending on your ROM, choose the "reboot" or "Shut down and restart" option... My SMS now works flawlessly. And if anyone wants to know how to use a sprint lg g2 on straight talk GSM (or art or whatever), feel free to ask questions. I now have working MMS, calling, 3g data, texts, GPS, WiFi, NFC, and 10x1 shimano 105 drivetrain.

In the dialer, press ##DATA# -This will take you to hidden Data settings
Select MMSC
Hit Edit -You will be prompted for your SPC code (Get this wrong twice and your phone will shut off)
You now have 3 options -Set URL, Gateway, and Set Port. These are all set by Sprint. My Port was ok but URL from my APN settings was not used! Now, set your URL (EG. mine was http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc)
Set your gateway. This is by default a bunch of numbers, but my actual gateway that works is my MMS Proxy (web.wireless.bell.ca)
Your phone may restart
You can now send/receive MMS!

I don't know for sure, as I only have the Straight Talk AT&T LTE microsim. However, both cards use the same bands so I'd think the older sim would work too
I'm using Rayglobe Flex 4.0 that ported I for the lS980 for my wife and mine Sprint G2 and everything but NFC works great using StraightTalk AT&T sim. Talk, Text, Internet and MMS work with the the proper APN of coarse.

What do you mean "ported"? Are there any specific installation methods for the flex rom or can I flash it through recovery? I looked at the thread for Rayglobe flex, but it wasn't posted under the LS980 forum. If you could give me basic instructions and what your apn settings are that would be great. I can add a new apn, but it won't save it.

Can't send MMS

I installed Viper10 and chose Verizon as the carrier since I saw somewhere on the forums that it was the way to get service for sprint and I have everything working fine except I can't send MMS. Is that a problem because of the wrong APN settings or is that just the tradeoff?
P.S: I can receive MMS but can't send them.

did you enter the sprint apn's? go to venomroms.com the settings are posted there, don't forget to save the apn after setting
I looked for the APN settings on venomroms.com and that's what I had and I everything works including LTE data, calling, sms and receiving MMS. Only thing that has problems is sending MMS. If this is just the tradeoff for the custom rom that's fine I'm just wondering if other ppl have the same issue.

make sure there are no syntax errors or typos.
You don't have the APN settings saved correctly. Delete the APN entry you saved, and make sure you enter the settings exactly. Also make sure autocorrects doesn't "fix" your entries. ?
I also had this problem on 2 different 10s in the same house. Couldn't figure out why it didn't work so I went back to viper 3.5 and worked perfectly.
