Could someone please upload a Nandroid backup of a stock 2.3.7 Defy+ ROM somewhere and copy the link here? I want to restore the backup, but mine is damaged (or at least the md5 file), and i cant reflash with RSD because my usb port is broken.
thanks in advance!

I am currently on a stock Android 2.1-update1 TMobile US ROM on my Defy (green lens) ROM. I would like to try out CyanogenMod 7.1 (or 7.2 RC) and need help confirming my understanding of the process. I am already rooted and have installed the GoAPK recovery.
1. I need to flash my kernel to froyo to 2.2. In order to be able to downgrade back to 2.1 I need to use a "fixed" sbf. If I run the smgver.exe utility on the sbf file and it says "no version found" than this is a safe sbf to flash (can still downgrade).
2. Before I flash this new kernel I need to (should) do a full nandroid backup of my current rom so I can restore it if things go wrong. I might need to install SuperOneClickFor2.x to do the backup and future recoveries.
3. Once I flash one of these "fixed" sbf I can then do the "update.zip" process to flash CM7 onto my defy. I will need to do a factory reset and wipe the data/cache partitions. This will cause me to lose my contacts/calendar/etc AND my installed applications (and their data, so I need to back them up using something like TitaniumBackup).
4. Once I've got CM7 (with froyo kernel) I can flash one of the CM9 builds for the defy green lens that is built specifically for the froyo kernel
I've searched and read as much as I can, I feel like I "got it" but I just wanted a little confirmation before I start hacking this phone apart =)
Thanks for any help you can give me =)
Here is the explanation from all that I know:
1. I need to flash my kernel to froyo to 2.2. In order to be able to downgrade back to 2.1 I need to use a "fixed" sbf. If I run the smgver.exe utility on the sbf file and it says "no version found" than this is a safe sbf to flash (can still downgrade). Ya, that is true. But after flashing fixed SBF you also need Nandroid backup to be restored.(This is not your nandroid backup. Its the nandroid backup supplied with the fixed sbf)
2. Before I flash this new kernel I need to (should) do a full nandroid backup of my current rom so I can restore it if things go wrong. I might need to install SuperOneClickFor2.x to do the backup and future recoveries.
Yes Nandroid backup is always recommended. Superoneclick is a software needed to root your phone. That answers the rest.
Yes, however its not update.zip but its <ROM NAME>.zip Your contacts, calender can be backed up in your google account and if you use gapps(google apps. Needs to be installed separately by install .zip in CM) in your CM those will come again. Your installed apps and data yes can be restored from TB. You can backup SMS using SMS backup+
4. Once I've got CM7 (with froyo kernel) I can flash one of the CM9 builds for the defy green lens that is built specifically for the froyo kernel
Yes either that or you can even directly flash CM9 for Froyo kernel.
Hope that helps...
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a SBF file in order to flash my Defy(Green lens) because it doesn't want to boot!:crying: I wanted to delete all data on my Defy to start with a "clean" Defy so I did it(delete data/factory reset), but now it is blocked on Google screen!:crying:
In fact CM7 was installed so as my mobile won't reboot, I am going to reflash it by installing first a Froyo ROM, the firtst one from here :[ROM]official french 3.4.2-164 + deodexed. But unfortunately all files are deleted, so there is my question.
Could someone reupload the SBF file and the Nandroid backup file of the Motorola/Nu version? Because I want to keep the downgrability. And it's also written this :
For french people => No more need to flash fixed sbf, to keep downgrability and don't void warranty

-> Does it mean that Nandroid backup file is not needed?
Before flashing if someone could tell me what to do instead, it would be nice.
Thanks.
On sbf-droid-developers.org are full-SBF of the french version 164.
Its no need to flash a fixed SBF, cause the froyo-SBFs are official.
Ok thanks.
Hi!
I have a defy+ with cm10 installed, but my microUSB port is broken. I'd like to install a stock rom so I can bring it bake to t-mobile to get repaired, but i cant use RSD Lite because of the broken USB. What can I do? Is there any way to go back to a stock rom without connecting to a pc? Is there any way to unroot the phone without using a pc? Thanks a lot in advance!
(luckily I have another defy+ too so i can charge the batteries)

Since you have CM10 - you have bootmenu with cwm installed, have before flashing cwm maded your stock rom nandroid backup? If no ,here's my 2.2.2 3.4.2-179_6.1 t-mobile german nandroid backup. !!Since you are restoring 2.2.2 backup on defy+, most likely after reboot it will not power on, but don't worry you can send it to warranty, because your usb port is broken and they can't reflash it via RSD Lite, so most likely they'll change your motherboard.!! 1.Unpack it copy to sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/ and restore. 2.If phone powers on - It has rooted - 1. you'll need to go 2ndunit and chose - unistall bootmenu 2.you'll need to remove superuser.apk with root explorer from system/app , then reboot and you'll have clean rom, and you can safely send it warranty.
2.2.2 backup - http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/23119736/file.html .Bes sure that your battery is minimum 60% charged before restoring nandroin and wipe data and cache from stock recovery after removing superuse.apk and unistaling bootmenu.

Because you are flashing 2.2.2 froyo with BL4 on defy+ with BL6 or BL5. You can't downgrade rom becuase Efuse is blowed & once it blowed bl6 or other version you can't lower it. More info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537

You'll need download terminal emulator from market. Type in terminal emulator this commant to recheck md5 sums:
su
mount -o remount rw /sdcard
cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/(YOUR BACKUP FOLDER NAME)
rm nandroid.md5
md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
If it still shows md5 checksum mismatch, when try copy nandroid.md5 file to your backup folder from any other cwm backup and again run that command from terminal emulator.

In Terminal Emulator to remove root:
su
rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
rm /system/xbin/su
rm /system/xbin/busybox
exit
and reboot phone after rebooting open any root apk to veritfy that it says: cant obtain root access. are you rooted?
I want to restore the backup, but mine is damaged (or at least the md5 file), and i cant reflash with RSD cus my usb port is broken.
thanks in advance!
Hello guys, unfortunately my defy + with CM 10.1 does not work since I installed TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.0, I also lost the ClockworkMod recovery, and so I can not restore my copy CM 10.1, the phone is not charging (it is now only 25 %) ask for help.
If your phone don't boot
Charge battery with external charger
Flash .sbf firmware
Wipe data in stock recovery....
Reboot
Root
Install recovery
Restore nandroid
Be happy again
If it's boot
Copy system/bootmenu folder from
extracted nightly .zip file (last you've uesed and paste it on the rigth place using adb or rootexplorer
Sent from my MB525 red , froyo 2.2.2 german blurless service.sbf, as stock rom
thanks Bone for the answer, what is the right place to copy system / bootmenu?
I could try with the TWRP Recovery file manager
If you're have working twrp you can flash cwm recovery.zip or flash rom which contains cwm recovery
Sent from my MB525 red , froyo 2.2.2 german blurless service.sbf, as stock rom
thanks bone, I flashed CM 11 with TWRP recovery and everything went well, I'll try this rom and then after I will do a restore of the CM10

It is hard to kill but it's possible....
Throw in from 10m to asphalt ground,,
Over roll it with an airplain
Pull usb cable during sbf flash in the moment when rsd flashes the bootloader partition
Cheers
