[Q] Where am i going wrong - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I did everything needed. When i use de DFT flasher i finally got a working image file (The DFT desire rom). But i have no CWM available anymore.. When i converted the IMG files from the DFT install to upgrade.zip and installed it. It worked, well the install did. But as soon as i run the phone i get errors. The same kind i got when i started useing the eclipse mod (3.52). Which is weird. Since i cannot locate the problem. why do all these errors keep comming up.
Other then that i was kinda happy with the stock desire rom which runs completely from the HD2 internal memory, but the i tried makeing changes in the system folder and it seems i have no superuser abilities. So why is this? Or do i need to root this standard desire rom and if so. How does that work cause i imagine its different from the way you would root a untouched phone. Weird enough it does show a superuser icons in my list of programs.
Im almost there i need to figure out these minor tweaks to fully enjoy all those nice roms out there.
Hope anyone is out there to get a light shining on it

That's a really old rom and flash method,,thereare no other roms that work that way.it was the original proof of concept .
Find any other rom, findout what popartition size it requires, use the nand toolkit to set that size, which will apply cwm too, thenflash the rom from within cwm.

Here is the problem every flash I do with a rom. I end up getting errors after the boot. I have a 8gb sd card. Formatted to 2048 ext 4 and 128 swap (useing cwm).
For now I'm running the DFT Rom. I edited the install and added the cwm img aswell. So now o can boot CWM to even though useing the DFT Rom. I used CWM to root the DFT Rom. To be honest for now it will do. But I'd love to have some more eye candy. But I can get the toms installed. After installing CWM 3 TIMES with different sizes and useing the CWM to install 3 different roms I get the same error on every install. I assume something goes wrong accessing the ext4 partition on the sd card. But I have no idea.
I suppose there is no 400mb Rom with sense 3 or 3.5 that runs without sd ?

You say that you get the same error each time, but you haven't actually mentioned the error message (as far as I can see). What is the error that you get?

Its the same kind of errors I get from installing the eclipse Rom.
Com.xxxxxxx.xxxxx
Errors. That they stopped for some reason. Xxxxx is Google and phone and all kinds of programs. I just don't understand why flashing with CWM keeps going wrong. But I updated a couple of things and installed su.2.xxxxx.signed.zip and a couple of changes o wrote. With CWM and that all works fine.
I just think that for some reason when booting the first time all those Roma that need ext4 on sd. For some reason can't find them.

[Q] Help with Android+apps2sd

Hi all, I have recently (yesterday) managed to install ANdroid on my HD2 and must say I am really pleased with it!. Just 2 things that I'm stuck with.
1, I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948 to be able to get android on and used the nand android rom as described. I then started adding loads of apps and quickly ran out of space. Can I use apps2sd with this rom and is so how do I go about it?. Do I have to reflash the rom again, or is there another way?.
If I have to reflash the rom then I would like to find a rom that is as close to stock sense but has the working flip clock. Anyone have any to recommend???.
Either I'm getting thick in my old age or it was alot easier to Root and Rom my Wildfire that I had previously.....
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks Scotty.
What Rom are you using? Apps2sd will be in the title of the roms that support it, you need to partition some of your SD to ext4, you can do this via cwm (clockwork mod) then the roms that support it will automatically install apps to SD this is a good Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010498
In cwm go to advanced then partition, you will lose everything on your SD tho so back it up, your SD really needs to be at least a class 4 ideally 6 8 or 10 tho
Edit/ 1gb partition is plenty, any more will cause problems

[q] a story and few questions...........

hi all... i got a wildfire 1 week before with android 2.2 and hboot 1.01.0002, then i downgraded it to 1.01.0001 using goldcard method, and s-off(making hboot 6.01.1002???) it with alpharevex( unrevoked cant do it for me, stuck in "waiting for root.....", even though i used the custom test version meant for wildfire (3.2 beta test)) AND alpharevx flashed it with cwm v4.0.1.4. then rooted it with ginger break .
then i tested it with cyanogen7 build 711211 nightly, ruymanca v6 final, with buzz kernal 2.6.32,hcdr kernal v4.2 beta using install zip method. but i cand do it with sone zip like ovc jacob 2.6.32 v1 and some other zip( kernal overclocking zips) and also wild puzzle rom v.8, cwm saying some script error in which the support of these scripts have been removed since cwm changed its version to support gingerbread recoveries. so i cant do it from cwm 4.XXX. then i loaded cm7 and installed rommanager 4.3.2.4 premium. but rome manager always said to flash cwm , though i have the latest cwm in my phone. so i flashed once again with a cwm 2.5.0.7, and booted to recovery and tried to install the previously failed zips, this time cwm can do it with out any error. but after loading the flashed rom, i once again rebooted to recovery. and the cwm is again back to v4.0.14!!!!!!!!!! . what had i done?? previously i boot it into cwm 2.5.07 and now its back to 4.0.1.4!
now i want to get some help from u people..
Q1) why cant i downgrade cwm to 2.5, i dont really like cwm v4.xxx, coz i think there are some bugs in it, taking long time to do things and fix permission works rarely. but with v2.5 it is smooth, also support old scripts.
Q2) is there any advantage in using new cwm?
Q3) why rommanager cant detect the new cwm, saying to flash it with old cwm? the manual flash override function never worked for me!!!
Q4) is there any way to add support to old scripts to new cwm?or how can i do updates from that kind of zips?
Q4) is there any problems with mixing up(flashing) different kernals and roms? i know what is a rom, but know little about kernal.
Q5) what is the best radio update i can get, i need good network and a good battery life. i am not locked to any network, and i want 2 use different networks sim. if i flash a radio, will i be locked to any frequency?
pls help me in finding ans for these, as i am a newbe to android, my previous experience was with a x10 mini of my friend, which we flashed with cwm and rooted, all with the help of xda lessons. thanks to all who make xda the best.

1. On wildfire, flashing secondary recovery from rom manager is only temporary. That means it comes only when you reboot to recovery from the option in rom manager itself. Alternatively, you can boot into 4.x recovery and first install the update.zip (created by rom manager on the root of sdcard) which gives you temporary 2.x recovery to flash old files. That is not a bug in 4.x but amend scripting files (older) are not supported by 4.x recovery.
2. Yes there is. The most important is to get rid of the offline charging bug (apart from newer recoveries add new features.)
3. Rom manager can flash 2.x and 3.0.0.6 recoveries on sdcard (at the moment). However it can't replace the original recovery on wildfire. It can only flash and boot into a temporary recovery ( by reading from a file on sdcard).
4. Yes you can. The 2.x recovery can flash amend files only whereas 3.x or higher recovery can flash edify files only. There is an appliaction called "amend to edify converter". Google it.
--as far as you use wildfire kernels, I think there wont be any problem using them with any wildfire rom.
5. If your wildfire is A3333 one then flash the latest radio that ends with 20.10. You won't loose any frequency. But you will loose some frequency on flashing it if your wildfire is A3335 one.

how can i know if mine is a3333 or a3335?
thank u for such a fast reply buddy.
i searched xda and find most of my ans from a thread named "complete wildfire index". u people are so much supporting. no question why xda is the greatest android forum. thank u all
also xda apk is not working??? in my phone, it takes too much time to load!!!!!!!!.why is it so? i realy want it,so that i can stay tuned. ls help
Remove your battery cover and the battery. The model will be written just above your IMEI number there. Also, XDA App does indeed take a long time to load, especially for the first time, it's pretty normal I will assume.
For checking A3333 or A3335 see under the battery (ofcourse on the phone) or on the purchase box.
And regarding xda android app, verify that you have decent internet connection like atleast edge. And when opening app everytime, it takes lot of time because it loads all the forums by default. What I suggest is, open the app for 1st time, and login with your account. Then add your desired forums to "favourites". Then enter the app settings and set the default view to "favourites". From now it wont take that long time during app startup. I too use xda app from mobile always. Waiting for few more updates of it (like thank button and etc..).

Hey i flashed the latest radio,it workz like a cham. And i think it gives me more range(catches network signals more good)i assume so.is it right? And abt xda, lol i am in the track now, workz nice now.just i gave it some time 2 load.and every thing is ok.
Now i hav another question, what is the benifit of ext4 over ext3.i am now using ext3,with a2sd script, and moves almost all my app using app2sd to my sd,having 512mb ext3 and 64mb swap, i am using windows and so i cant realy partition sd to ext3,though i wish 2 have 1gb ext 3,i had done above partition using rom manager, and the max size it showed me is 512mb for my 8gb class 4 card, also what is the benifit of giveing more swap space?
I tried 2 move dalvic cache to sd, but it gave me frequent restarts, and phone behaves crazy when i remove the sd, so i avoided that, and reinstalled cm7 latest build and aplied a2sd script in it along with ram optimizing script, now itz fine. But i never find the support of a2sd script for wildfire in face book support page of the script developer, any body tried this in wildfire? 4 me i find no problem at all. Pls info me if it has any prblm.

Any one pls help, coz i am realy confused titanium backup shows 493 mb free on my a2sd partition which is a 503 mb full size one, but i have about 40 app installed on my card, and i use a2sd script and not a2sd app to move apk's to card, also my current rom is cm7.0.3, in which i set the default memory for installations as sd. But where are the apks installed in my card,if it is not in a2sd partition!!!???.
Pls anybody help me.

[Q] Stuck at loading Android

Yellow XDA!
I've got this thing when trying to get a new Sense 3.0 rom. I've been looking for a good one and found that one. (Please point me to your favorite sense 3.0 ROM)
When installing, I've had some trouble with partitioning SDCard, installing a ROM (status 0 error, aborting installation)
I'm using 2.08 HSPL, MagLDR 1.13, CWM v4 & Radio 2.15.50.XX
I'm able to install a ROM (tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733649)
But when I reboot after installing (in CWM), when it should load, it doesn't go past the Android loading screen
So It boots, MagLDR shows up, no errors, gogogo thingy, then it freezes (splash screen I guess)
I've been looking for some solutions but haven't found anything that works.
Tried other radios, CWM versions, ROMs...
I've got no idea what to do
Any help is appreciated.

Tmous or regular? If regular, do you have the 1gb ext partition set? Also, that rom will take a while to set up since it requires a lot of stuff to be unpacked onto the SD card.
I've not used that rom but I know some of the big ones take tens of minutes for first boot

I used the EU version. I did indeed (try to) partition the SDCard but when clicking advanced, partition, 1024, 0, It told me to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and when after like half an hour, I pulled out the SDCard, it's 1GB smaller in Windows so it should be done.
Installing works fine.
I'll try starting the ROM again & look if it works after a couple of hours.
Doesn't work. It ran all night, didn't get past the Android screen.
I ran into a similar problem. I downloaded a file from the forum called Wipe_it_CWR.zip before installing the new rom and that resolved my issue
You mean just installing it via CWM before the ROM right? Nothing else special?
Trying it now. So far, it seems like it won't work.
EDIT: Nope sorry. It's really weird.

HTC HD2 Stuck on Android bootscreen.

Hi,
I've got an HTC HD2 here, with Android installed on it. (NAND, I believe.)
It was bought second-hand with Android pre-installed.
Because it was still linked to the google account of the previous owner, I had to restore the whole phone to factory settings. Since that didn't work, I've just decided to install another Rom.
After some messing around, I managed to install Clockworkrecovery. (It wouldn't boot for some mysterious reason) And then I installed an Android Rom. (Energy™ -.¸¸.·´¯ Sense 3.5 Runnymede)
After some time, the phone rebooted and got stuck on the Android boot screen.
I tried to install another Rom, but now they all get stuck on the boot screen. (I have tried another Runnymede rom, and RCMix3D)
Does anybody know how I can fix this?
I wiped my Dalvik Cache, I wiped my Cache partition, I wiped my data/factory reset. I am using the MAGLDR as boot thingie, but that's working perfectly.
I have formatted my SD-card with G-Parted, on my Ubuntu-PC. (First partition FAT32-750MB, Second partition EXT3 - 1GB and a Linux-Swap of 100MB)
For some strange reason, ClockworkRecovery cannot format my SD-card. (Well, it says it can, but as soon as I stick the card in my PC, the PC tells me it's corrupted. (Windows XP on my Father's PC tells me it has to be formatted, on my Ubuntu it doesn't show up as mountable)
Thank you in advance
P.S. I don't mind losing data, there's no personal data on it. Any solution (which doesn't involve buying a new phone) will do.
Quickest solution I would try is format the entire card to fat32, and see if your pc detects it. Once it does, put the rom on it, put in in the phone, boot into clockwork format data/cache/dalvik install the rom then reboot and see if it goes past the bootscreen (keep in mind first boot takes a while, but if it takes more than 2-3 minutes theres still a problem.
Do you know what partition layout of clockwork you installed by any chance? Some roms require specific layouts in order to work correctly.
Thank you for your reply.
Unfortanetly, that didn't work.
I have installed Clockworkmod like they say on jayceooi dot com. (I cannot past links yet, but here's the step-by-step guide:
Step by Step Guide
Power on your phone and don’t let go power button.
DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded.
Use volume down button to go down to 5. USB Flasher.
Then press call button to load USB Flasher mode.
Connect USB cable from PC to phone.
You should see Wait USB…USB.
At PC, right click on DAF.exe and select ‘Run as administrator’.
Click ‘Yes’ if User Access Control prompt up.
Follow onscreen instructions to install.
Phone will be rebooted after installation finished.
DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded then.
Disconnect USB cable from phone.
Use volume down button to go down to 8. AD Recovery.
Then press call button.
ClockworkMod Recovery will be loaded then.
That’s all.)
I used the 150MB-Partition one.
Didnt work how? Does the pc detect the sd card now after you formatted?
The directions you posted are right, so maybe try a different partition layout. The roms that you said you tried use different layouts than what you have and that may be a problem. Test a CM7 rom and see if it will boot, they tend to have less problems and are overall more stable than sense roms.
I recommend Typhoons rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Try to install it and see if it boots. It uses the same partiton layout that you have now. If it boots, thats indication that you may need a different layout if you want to run a sense rom.
Well, I could re-format my sd-card and re-partition it, but it (Android) still got stock at the boot screen.
Using the Typhoon rom, I got the same problem. The Rom appears to be succesfully installed, but it didn't really boot.
I now tried to installed Windows Phone 7, this works fine. (I don't want to install WP7 however, I want to install android)
I tried the following too: (Post by a3r0n1)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18868874&postcount=14
/
At the "Using "HD2 Toolkit" select "Magldr repartition" Make sure that you are using the recommended partition size for your rom!" part, I got an error that the file was too big when I tried to choose a partition of 300MB, I honestly have no idea what the partition size should be. (I want a sense-rom, I don't have a clear preference which)
I did install the Clockworkmod with 400MB with succes now.
However, still got the same problem. Android seems to get in a loop somewhere in the boot screen
EDIT:
I noticed that the Micro-SD card always corrupts after CWM installs the Android-Rom.
I think that may be the core of the issue here.
Does anybody know how I can install Android without CWM?
Are u repartitioning the phone? That might be the problem. Hope this helps
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I manager to install an old Desire-based rom with Android 2.2 through a daf installation.
This one works fine but I still would like to install a Rom with Android 2.3 via a more regular way.
One problem I'm facing with this Rom is a very limited amount of internal storage. (about 55MB)
And I've got a big battery leak, the battery drains very fast. Much faster than my Desire HD. (The HTC HD2 we're talking about isn't mine, It's my mother's)
So does anyone know how I can install a regular Rom (preferably runnymede based) without CWM? Or does anyone know how I can resolve my problem?
@akaruna: I do not know how to partition the phone, I believe I didn't do that. Should I? I did partition the SD card. (CWM made unreadable cards for some obscure reasons, so I partitioned the SD card using gparted on Ubuntu)
Thanks in Advanced
Sjoerd
If you have limited internal storage then the main problem is the partition table is not correct. This is also why the roms you install are stuck on the bootscreen. When you install roms that require a bigger partition table than what you already have on your phone they will be stuck in a bootloop.
Go and download the HD2 NAND TOOLKIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
Check out the video to familiarize yourself with the features, then repartition your MAGLDR with the correct partition table that the rom you want requires. Go into clockwork and install rom from zip.
Yes the tool kit is the best.
Yea the toolkit works wonders. Even though I still do it the original way ;p I do everything faster that way for some reason

Oh and yes, always read the thread from that certain Tom so that way u know exactly what partition table/size to use. Usually linked also.

I tried it again with this rom: "[18Dec 2011] [CMR] Sensation xl Sense3.5/2.3.5 v2.7 BETA OC & marc1706 0.1.3 kernel" (I believe I'm still not allowed to post links)
I used the NAND toolkit this time for the System Partition Size.
The only thing I actually did was clicking 350MB as System Partition Size and then I clicked repartition. And then I followed the on-screen instructions, which involved clicking next and after some installing some drivers everything went fine. (With the HD2 in USB-flash mode of course, it also said the job was completed succesfully)
I wasn't able to choose a bigger size for some reason, it told me the 400MB was too big.
Still the same problem, the phone gets stuck at the Android boot-screen.
Does anybody have an idea? Thanks in advance (Again, I'm not scared of losing any data, if anyone has any solution at all: I'm more than happy to hear it)
I tried another DAF rom and got the following error:
"Error Description: Size is too big.
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (800)"
So I tried repartitioning the System Partition Size (MAGLDR) to 400Mb.
However, It gave me the exact same error.
Does anyone know has any idea? (For example, how I can change the partitions in another way)
(Partitioning it at 360MB works fine)
Not sure what it is but the DAF file I use let me partition to 445...... those sense time are heavy and if the partition isn't right it will bootloop or not

Can't find a guide that is clear to me.

I have this HD2 lying around and o though i'd make use of it again but I thought a out installing android on this phone. Now here is the thing after spending a couple of hours on this forum. I can't find a guide anywhere that makes fully sense to me.
I did find a couple of very old guides. But If I compare this to the android version I was kind Looking for.
Basicly any android version would do as long as it includes the 3d effects that I saw on the evo 3d. Hope I could get somewhat of a guidance here.
(1) I think I did find the install files sense of eclipse 1.52 should be a good install or does someone disagree?
(2)What I can't find is haveing a pc mandatory to get android on my hd2 or is it possible without.
Radio 2.15.50.14
HSPL 2.08
MAGLDR 1.13 / cLK 1.5
ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6
1 GB EXT4 partition on SD card for EU HD2
These are the system requirements. It says
(4) the radio and hspl and magldr are they software I install before of after the install with android or how would I use them anyways? Not to clear what is ment with those.
(5) clockworkmod recovery I have read some about it. I have seen it comes after the install of magldr.
(6) partitioning I did get that some software was needed on windows to but there is no way of doing it fully from the phone?
(7) these settings of the nand partitioning. With these settings I presume they mean the internal memory of the phone. But don't you need to do that before installing anything ?
I'm going to leave by this for now. Basiclly I just need to figure out some basics. Usually when I've gotten through it once I usually get which end is up. Just need to get started some bit :what:

Read all of the guides in my sig (including the new user one), everything should be clear after that. The thing is, you seem to be asking for a 3D ROM which is impossible without the screen technology. If you mean the 3D effects found in Sense 3.0 onwards, just flash a Sense ROM. It'll be slow and won't have HWA but if it's what you want then go for it.
I'm not looking for the 3d screen just the effects. Like the menu turning with you when you turn your screen. And the carousel dat also does the moving towards you. But my one x has sense 4+ but that doesn't have the 3d effect. So I presume that 3.5 was the last version to have the 3d effect?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
the htc hd2 tool kit is your best bet it has all you need and sbryan will be releasing his sense 4 rom very soon with hwa why dont you try that
Ok thus far so good your guides did get me pretty far. I got the radio and spl version needed. I also got hspl on there. And magldr Even CW recovery on there. But getting the partitions working was harder I eventually got it working hawing CW to format the sd card. But all the other memory things can't get that working on the phone or the eclipse Rom working. Its booting but with a lot or errors

With a YouTube video I noticed a DFT image being loaded into the phone with daf.exe. I found this image on xda. I used your guides up until loading CWR on the phone. I then used a combo of 2 CWR versions used a system version with settings v3.0.2.4 and replaced the image with a version 5.0.2.6. Still no succes in getting the eclipse Rom working but I did get the DFT image running the same way (combining 2 sets of installers) so its a start. And no need for any sd card on this image. Sending out the thanks for the help so far. Hope I can get the eclipse Rom working eventuelly. Would be great sad enough can't get it done.
