Oh sh*t!!

I woke up this morning and looked at my phone and it was doing a PRL update on its own. Im thinkin.. ok this is strange. So when it updated my phone rebooted. I'm thinking WTF is Sprint up to. Well, when it got done I ran a speedtest. Odd thing is, my PRL still shows 60676 in the about phone, but check out my 3G data speed now.

I havent seen speeds like this here since like October. I wonder did they add a new tower by me or something??

Here's a speedtest done tethered through my laptop. I'm not sure WTF happened overnight but damn.

Now the question is, is it going to stay consistent like this. But im pretty amazed so far I have to admit.

I was running CM7 and saw this thread so I decided to check it out, about 0.6Mb up and down. Flashed into Sense (Fresh 3.5) and now I'm getting about 1.2 down and still about 0.6 up.

I'm on destroyer and am getting consistent 6.1kb down and 6.4kb up!! this is a bit better download, but much better upload, for me.

I'm also in GA but I'm getting 200-500kb speeds

I saw the title, started reading, and checked out a speedtest myself. 926 down, 845 up, and I am at work, where I usually got horrible signal. I'm on PRL 60677 and in southern Wisconsin....Hope they keep the speeds up...me like

Weird. I'm on destroyer v2 and on 3g I'm getting 1.8 dl .8 ul. Thats about double what it was two days ago.. I'm in tacoma wa. Wonder what they did?

I was getting 1.2 Mb down. I saw this thread so I flashed sense and updated. Now I'm getting 500 KB down. Thanks, OP!

Well it was short lived... im back to 300 kb/s down

Yeah, I'm running Destroyer with 60677 and just got 51k down and 61k up. Sometimes I can get 1.8 - 2 down, but almost never on AOSP.

Wow. I'm lucky to see 2mb download here in Asheville.

2.7mbps in Australia, would love to see higher uploads than 400 but this is AT&T branded so the capped uploads applies to me too.

even in the video, its the iPad1, which is non-hsupa and non-4G device, but since we are just comparing the network i guess it should be fine to compare~
btw, i can get 400kb/s uploading on my iPhone4, the network is amazing but the MOTOROLA SUCKS

You can tell which is standard wifi. But the 3g/4g/h+ is standard for me in Portland Oregon for my speedy tests. I would show you sperdtest app but it connects me to whichitaw or another state very far away and is idly never even close to being consistent.

My best is 2490 download and 399 upload but im a small town that just got basic 3G around november of last year

I dont get it!
Guys, I dont get how this works.
According to speakasy.net, and I live in los angeles
On wifi:4.40mbps/0.71mbps
On data:2.85mbps/0.31mbps
But when I download a movie from mediamp4.com I get download speeds of 125kbps to 165kbps. So why is my fone saying that its fast when its not?

Well a speed test won't always be too accurate. Speed is dependent on traffic and the server being used so the speed seen on a speed test is ideal conditions

I'm on 3 in the UK and as you can see from my results, they are kinda all over the place! In reality I find that the data speeds are fine for what I need most of the time. It should be noted that the performance varies depending on my location (work/home etc) and time of day (when there may be throttling!) or night...
I tend to mainly be on HSDPA but sometimes 3G.

I get 6.2 down and 3.5 up. Hehe

On 3 in Stockholm, Sweden. My data plan and area supports 21mbit/s DOWN & 5.76 UP (theoretical speeds, i know)

Highest i've hit 6.36 mbps down and 1.56mbps up
lately att data service in nyc hasn't been too stellar and the local att store claims that at&t is doing some sort of infrastructure work but don't know what

Atrix speeds comparison.

A buddy of mine has the iPhone 4s - not making a thread of android vs apple - but we're both on AT&T and he is getting speeds of 6mb. Ran the test 10 times on both our phones and I can't touch 3mb. We're both running speedtest and I've tried different apns and keep getting the same speeds. We're both in same city same area.
Any explanations. Is there an APN the iPhone is using or the radio on it that is giving it better speeds?
I used following APNS: AT&T HSPA+ , AT&T US HSDPA, AT&T US.

From SG, I got over 5Mbps always. (@ places where I can get 4G)

What radio are you using? If its not N_01.77.30P or N_01.77.36P, you should run an update since AT&T capped the data speeds on older Atrix radios.

Maybe my phone is just sucking it today - or no back haul in my area? Still cant seem to understand how my buddy is getting those speeds though.

No 4G in Singapore. The radio in the international version of the atrix is different.

Call me OCD .... but I've been FN with this dang phone for days straight flashing radios... trying different APN's .... and I cannot get speeds faster than 2mb down and 1 mb up. But my buddy is sitting here next to me with an iphone 4s getting a constant 6 mb down....
WTH am I doing wrong?

A fun competition for Droid RAZR HD / Maxx users!

Hey all,
I was using the SpeedTest.Net app and was having some fun with it, testing my download / upload speeds in different areas. So I thought to myself "Self, wouldn't it be fun to see who can get the highest numbers?" And I responded "Yes, it would!"
Just for fun, to see what kind of rates of download and upload people are getting in different parts of the country. Post up a screenshot if you can, for those of us who can't yet (not rooted yet, can't find a free app that will take a screenshot of an unrooted phone) it's all based on honor system, which shouldn't be hard to do since it's all for fun and no real awards given (except bragging rights in this thread, ha!)

How come do you get such nice transfer. I am in Glastonbury and I got 25 Mb/s max (usually it is between 10-12)

I think it has to do with how close you are to the nearest 4G tower you're getting a signal from. I'm very close to a stone's throw from the tower, and my home is at the top of a small mountain with nothing in the way to block me from getting a signal out of the sky in any direction.
I tried the speedtest last night at the bottom of the hill and had numbers of 148ms ping, 6.66mbps, and 2.98mbps. It's an area that's known to have connectivity issues (glad I live at the top!) and about a mile or two from where I live.
At work in Wallingford (sorry, forgot to post) I had similar numbers to what you got.
Might it also have to do with "traffic" on the 4G cell tower as well?
