irssi on android 4.2x - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, im going to be recieving an nexus 7 the next days and im new to the OS. Had a question in regards to the terminal and some common *nix ports.
Firstly, is it possible to install irssi on the device? Im assuming I must have root capability and a terminal app installed to be able to install the irc client as usual? Or any other common port ? screen, pine, etc? Or is there a common bundle install, alla iOS via cydia?
Thanks in advance!

UBUNTU on Mogul

Ok I have an old Mogul. I have been playing with the FULL version of Ubuntu. I got it to boot, but have not touchscreen support.
Any input. It is a cool project to work on and have had fun trying it.
I used the startup.txt from an android rom and the Vogue/tytn port.
Thanks in advance.
So do you have any plans to develop something that can be used on a daily basis?
I would love to. I need help with the ts_calibrate file/ command line

Hi,
just developing my first app and I was wondering if there is something like a repository to download AVDs, so that I dont have to create them myself. I would like to test if my application is running properly on various devices (resolutions, density ... )

The A501 does not run windows! The Windows Iconia is the W500.
The A500 doesn't have an Intel CPU, so there's almost zero chance of anyone getting any version of Windows to run on it in the foreseeable future. The W500 that runs Windows is a completely different piece of hardware from the A500.
Linux might be possible, as there are ARM versions of Ubuntu running on other tablets, but my understanding is it's a fair amount of work to get everything running (and straight Linux or Windows aren't really very good touch-screen operating systems, anyway).
As far as I am aware there is very little difference between the a500 and a501 save for some 3g and sim setups.
What you may want are some of the windows emulator (which are pretty much on the "poor" side of emulators and "windows") or use a remote setup to use your tablet to run the windows on your pc, just dont expect to be playing COD:MW3 with it.
i knew that. idk y i said a501, my bad. i have tryed linux installer from the market but it still wont boot. i must be missing directorys or sumthing. any ideas on an easyer way to install linux or maybe a tutorial one of u could help me with? iv cheked out the "how to install native linux" a few times but it doesnt make sense. any help would be awsome. thanx guys/girls

Java SDK Version queried

Hello All
I've been in a bit if a tiz lately, I am very interested in developing for Android as well as BlackBerry.. The problem is that for the Android SDK I want to use I NEED to use JDK 7uxx.. However I still am pulling in money with BlackBerry for OS 7 and Below and that REQUIRES JDK 6uxx
I'm wondering if it possible to install BOTH SDK versions on the same machine and assign the correct version to the correct SDKs????
I would love your feedback and any suggestions onto how to do this if this is possible at all..
Thanky so much in advance

a question aimed at devs about roms?

Ok so I am interested in developing roms but since I am only gonna begin(still thinking things through) I was hoping you guys can help me with some doubts:
1) Do you prefer building on windows or Linux?
2) Is there an advantage on working with Linux?
3) Is working with Linux on a virtual machine in windows the same?
4) Is there a way to test the rom without having to flash?
5) Is there anywhere you think one should begin or read before actually getting to work?
Thanks in advance
