Trouble integrating GrooVe IP with native dialer - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have the paid version of Groove IP. Applications like Google Voice, Viber, Talkatone, Skype, etc all appear as an option when making a call from the native dialer. Is there a way to make Groove IP one of those options so I can have it "Always" make calls through Groove IP from the stock dialer application?
I've seen the native dialer options in the Groove IP settings and tried the obvious, but I can't get it to show up as an option when tapping a contact from the native dialer. Any idea's why this could be happening?
For what it's worth, I've also got Nova Launcher running and I'm somewhat new to Android.
Thank you

i use groove ip at home and have it set to ask when i'm on wifi
i have "allow 3g/4g calling" unchecked and my native dialer settings are "Built-in Dialer Preference: Ask every call"

Just reread the OP... I get the option when I tap a phone number too. Try going to Settings > Apps > All > Phone > Clear defaults

I ran out of T-Mobile minutes so I'm using it on Wifi and 3g/4g and I too have it on "Built in Dialer Preference: Ask every call", but it still doesn't appear as an option. I can only place calls through the Groove IP application UI.

After googling for a few days I found out I was completely lost. Nobody else seems to be having this problem.
I won't be charged again after reinstalling?

no, the Play Store keeps it as "Purchased". If you only purchased it 15 minutes ago, it'll refund you the money if you uninstall it.

Anyone else?

Phone app alternative?

Is there any alternative phone app to replace the stock phone app just like launcher application?
The stock phone app comes with i9000 will open back to the dial pad every time when I open it, instead of the last function being used, which will be more convenience if it could back to the same place like call log. Is there any way to change this behavior? I don't see there is any setting in the phone app.
Thanks.

Can dialer one disable/remove missed calls notifications in the notifications bar when opening the dialer? (Like the default dialer does)
I tried to uncheck the settings (Dont clear missed call icon in notification settings), but it didnt work.
I have to manualy go into the notification bar and Delete the missed call each time.
If you use LauncherPro you can longclick the Phone icon on the dock and choose the Phone app from the applications list. It will then open up properly, displaying the call log if that was the last tab you used on the phone app.
Seems to be a bug (or feature for all I know) in launcherpro that makes it always open on the dial pad
can you get a new app for receiving calls? stock one sucks

I'm using firmware JM2 and the stock dialer defaults to whatever screen I was last using...just tested it
Can anyone confirm if their stock dialer just searches through first-names of contacts when they use the keypad to type a name?
In mine if I type the surname of a contact it is not found.

If you change 'Order of display name' to 'Last Name First Name' in Contacts, dialer will search for last names.

Why is Google hogging up ALL of my data??!!

So I got a text from T-Mobile telling me that I went over my 2GB Data limit for the month. I was really confused because I barely even use 1GB in a whole month. I checked my settings and I saw what I have posted in the pictures. What can I do to stop this? Anyone ever had this happen to them? Any help will be appreciated!

Same problem as u. From my understanding it's the 4.3 update that is continuing to try and download in the background. There is a few fixes floating around but none of them have work for me.

[Q] Google Services - huge data usage
If you have a custom recovery, try yourzgapps.
I think you should have a look at your google+ backup options... It's probably backing up all your pictures.

google + settings, make sure your picture backup is set to wifi only.. each time you flash a new rom check that to ensure it's not hogging your data
To fix the google service data feast without losing battery life or connection to the servers do the following:
1) Download autorun manager.
2) Open it and picked advanced(recommended).
3) In setting check show system entries.
4) Go back to the main screen and on the left top corner pick system apps.
5) find google service framework and expands it.
6) find systemUpdateService$Receiver and uncheck it (should be the last one).
7) You can also uncheck systemUpdateService$SecretCode just in case( I got it disabled).
I check my Google+ settings and everything was checked off. I'm going to download autorun manager and try that. Thanks!

Stock Rooted NC4 (no SS) Wi-Fi question

Took the OTA update while keeping root. (I already know what I am potentially giving up and the 'future proof risk' I took, don't plan on being with Verizon too much longer so I said screw it and went with immediate satisfaction)
What I'm trying to find is how to keep Wi-Fi turned off. A quick search hasn't turned up anything. I've gone into settings and made the changes there but wifi wants to keep turning on anyway.
I'm not sure if Verizon/Samsung hardcoded this into the OTA or if an app is deciding to turn it on.
Any suggestions?

Do you know about the Settings --> WiFi --> Advanced ---> Always Allow Scanning ? That keeps WiFi on even if you turn it off for location purposes.
To get Advanced hit the Settings softkey next to the home hard key when in the WiFi screen.
I've got that deselected. I think it's either an app or a Wanam setting.
Trying to see if there is a good app that could report what does what (ie app a is turning on bluetooth and app b is turning on wifi, as an example).
Thanks for the input though.

I noticed the location screen, set to GPS only - it's not true. Verizon Location Services are also running when this option selected.
To use real "GPS only" (hardware) - install power toggles from play store, create toggle w GPS, turn on toggle, accept root access, bingo...
Comment - Over version 4.3 and 4.4.2 GPS hardware is tethered with Verizon Location Services (Big Yuk!!) - as long as you do not go into the phone's location settings and turn the switch on (which forces either google, wifi, and / or Verizon location services to be associated with the hardware GPS) and just use the power toggles GPS option, then you'd be ok...
Accuracy Note - Using the hardware only GPS on a Note 3 does bring you down to and average of 10ft accuracy without AGPS / any other supporting location services. The claims that Verizon, wifi, google location services enhance / refine your experience is most likely a misnomer - Use of a specific GPS program with maps on the device itself are best and just as reliable if not more so... see copilot app

Meizu MX5 and push notification issues

I bought them for almost two months and overall satisfied with everything except one thing - push notification issue. This is apply to all apps that owner need to be notified such as LINE, WhatsApp or even Gmail. It would happen around 1-3 minutes after your phone standby. Delay could be from 5 minutes to 15 minutes and more. No "Power saving" and "Wifi sleep" enabled. This was happen a much less when I was with 4..5.2.5A rom and much more when I upgraded to 4.5.2.7A. You could see messages only if you open those app manually most of the times. It was ridiculous
Here are solutions I tried and non of them work so far.
1. Went to Security --> Permissions --> Set "LINE" / "Google Services Framework" / "Google Account Manage" as auto restart.
2. above + Went to Security --> Power Saving --> Set "LINE" available to run while idle. Two setting simultaneously and still not work.
3. above two + lock "LINE" application to work on background. Three combination still doesn't ring a bell.
4. Roll back to 4.5.2.4A / 4.5.2.2A / 4.5.2.1A and still the same. (4.5.2.5A has been merged by Meizu developer so non available for download at the time.)
5. Try install almost every Launcher, every notification apps and even "push notification fixer" (for non-root) and still the same.
Do you have any idea or recommendation for a custom rom or a custom fix for this issue?
Hi.
I have just the same issue with recently bought Meizu M2 mini: Hangouts, Skype, Gmail - no notifications.... It's really frustrating
I have never had notification problems with M2 and MX5, this is what I do:
Security App, permission, Launch. Here every app to notify. Google stuff also.
Security app, powersaving. The same
Also this apps blocked in the multitask
Settings, wifi, advanced, wifi sleep disabled
Lock the app in ram via multitasking bar, this will not let the app to turn off.
anyone find a solution to this?
Hi
I found the solution 100% working for me. Just enter in security app/power/settings and disable the option " disable Linked Launch" thats all. Enjoy!

Visual expression made

Whitepages - Does it actually work.

So according to the article.
http://www.androidheadlines.com/201...d-spam-detection-is-built-into-galaxy-s7.html
The Samsung S7 partner up with Whitepages, a caller identification and phone scam detection, on top of all that, you’ll be able to find nearby businesses whilst searching through the dialer.
My phone is Australian, which is one of the 16 countries involved with the S7 and whitepages.
So what gives,
When I make a call, I get "identifying caller info" then the number comes up with no caller id.
I go into the dialler search for a place nearby, it just searches my contacts.
Absolutely nothing works as promised...or am I missing something..
Exynos version - SM-G935F
It works, sort of, but it's very slow. Also, I suspect it needs a data connection, so if you're on Verizon or Sprint and don't have voice+data, it probably won't work unless you're on Wifi. I used True Caller on my last phone, and I'm going to disable White Pages and install True Caller on this one, too.
I'm in Australia and actually use both Truecaller and Samsung version which utlisizes whitepages. I'm assuming you've granted the appropriate permissions for Samsung to access your contacts/dialler etc. They both work hand in hand for me and I usually get a listing for most phone numbers that are listed in either source.

Tmobile and no whitepages. so i tried whitepages app in play store. assuming they are the same? if not then i guess thats why when i get a call whitepages is giving me wrong information. truecaller is a bit more accurate for me

I think you also need to grant permissions for >Telephone Permissions
I'm not sure what application is utilizing this service but check whether contacts and glalaxy apps have permissions granted. When I turned mine on I can't remember what permissions it asked for if any. Perhaps even grant permissions for everything in the list and then work out a process of elimination.
Also it only works when actually dialling the call for me. So for example if I dial 131888 and Dial it will perform a search and then display dominos.
