B928 problem with wifi - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hello
I have U8800 Pro and oficial ics rom B928 and, I have problem with connect to one wifi-hotspot in our school (in fact it is about five hotspot in one). I can not connect to this network. But when I had froyo and gingerbread on my U8800 It worked perfectly.
Also other networks (my home network or city network...) work good. Where is the problem?
Thank you for your time

I know that Galaxy S was the first mobile phone to be certified as WiFi Direct, and it got this certification about a couple of months ago.

nah both require a router to transfer stuff, with wifi direct you dont need a router

[FIXED] Urooted Bell SGS2. Market & Youtube app not downloading data using WiFi.

Hi everyone,
I just got my SGS2 from Bell today and I haven't been able to download any applications using my WiFi connection at home (every app stalls at "Downloading.." with the green striped bar). I can use the browser, and browse through the Market with no problems.
I've also noticed that the YouTube app does not stream any videos over WiFi.
If I switch to HSPA, both of these issues go away.
I've googled around for several hours and tried clearing cache/data of almost every app I can think of. I've disabled my encryption on my wireless router and restarted it. I've done two hard resets and tried using a different Google Account log in. The problem still persists.
Is there anything else I can do? Could it be a specific Router+SGS2 issue? I have my old HTC Desire sitting next to my SGS2 and it's downloading apps over WiFi like a champ.
Thanks for any help in advance!
EDIT: The problem has been fixed. For the record:
I downgraded my DIR-625 firmware from version 1.20 to 1.09. This actually resolved some other outstanding bugs I had and now I can finally fully enjoy my SGS2 at home.
Thanks for everyone's help.
Volume Up + Home + Power > Wipe cache > Wipe data
Start from scratch and make sure you add a Wifi and Google account at startup.
Thanks. Just tried that, still the same issue. On first boot up, I don't get asked for a WiFi connection however (I add it manually after the initial walk through is done).
EDIT: So I just tried the wipe data/cache/factory reset with the SIM taken out. It asked me to connect to a WiFi on boot up, and restored several applications with no problems. However, the same thing is still happening - can't download anything on the market .
I'm going through the EXACT same issue now. It's probably your router. Try it on a different wireless AP. You'll see ;-)
1) Which router are you using?
2) Do you have another Android device to test with?
3) What's your ISP?

So I just tried using the WiFi here at work and everything works! Must be my router then...
1. Dlink Di-625
2. Yes. My old HTC Desire has no problems with the WiFi.
3. Videotron
I'll try doing a hard reset on the router I guess (pressing the button).. Any idea what could be the issue specifically? It works completely fine for all my other devices..2 laptops, iPad, and my old HTC Desire.

Weird that it works on your Desire. My Nexus One didn't work either.
I have an ASUS RT-N12. No idea what the issue is. However, I did start noticing the issue after I tried to update Busybox. You didn't happen to try to update that did you?
I also have Videotron. I thought it may have been the ISP as I read somewhere a similar issue that ended up being the ISP's fault, but it worked at my dad's who also has Videotron.
Are you running DD-WRT on your router?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Talking about DD-WRT, I have a 2 routers setup. First is a Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall SRXN3205 broadcasting Canadian IP's and the second is a Cisco E4200 DD-WRT broadcasting US IP's. I noticed something interesting with the Cisco model. On my Tab 10.1 tablet I get both band signals 2.5/5Ggz as wireless while on the phone I only get the 2.5Ghz one. I'm running on XXKG3 2.3.4 firmware, the stock firmware was able to detect both bandwidths.
I'm going to root my phone in order to use MarketAccess or MarketEnabler and change the country to US, so I get all the missing apps.
I got home and did a hard reset on the router, issue still exists . I'm assuming it must be something to do with the router itself (since everything worked on a different WiFi). Unfortunately DD-WRT doesn't support the model I have (DIR-625).
I'm going to try and root it and maybe load a different kernel to see if that helps.

Yepp. Sorry, forgot to mention I did try signing in/out of Talk multiple times (which works fine on WiFi).
what ver. of market is the desire on and the sgs2 is os ver.2.3.4? or 2.3.6?
while the download is in progress, back out go into talk, sign out, then sign back in then go back to market dl should start.
I have the Same issue!!!!"
I though i was crazy.
I have the KH3 firmware. With a cisco E4200 router running DDWRT. on the same isp as you (videotron).
Could it be the isp????
Any solution?
Weird. Like I said though, I tried it at my dad's who also has Videotron and it worked fine.
Kernel/ROM doesn't change a thing. It's probably the router. Like I said, tried it on my Nexus One and it didn't work.

That'd be great, thanks! I just ordered a new router from Newegg as well. Probably won't get a chance to test it until next week though.

Wireless wifi connection to PS3?

My mate and i like to spend a lot of time on the ps3 (Call of Duty : Black Ops) amd we found that his phone (HTC Wildfire S) is able to natively wifi tether to the PS3 but even with Andyx's module i cant seem to connect still, what is it about the wifi libs in the HTC's firmware/kernel that is different to ours that allows it to connect and will there be any availability to find a solution to this now that the bootloader is unlocked? any help would be appreciated

A question regarding WIFI.

I know that using public open wifi is a dangerous thing, but i have this issue :
When i connect to a public wifi frm my laptop, it allows me to connect to the internet immediately, but on my DHD, when connectting to the same SSID, it takes me to a login page asking me for a username and password.
Is there a reason why?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD
Because of the configuration of the public wifi.
One thing I can think of the top of my head is that the wifi service stores MAC Adresses when you successfully logged in once and automaticly allowes all future connection from the same MAC Adress.
Your answer can probably not be answerd 100% by anyone since the configuration details of your public wifi service are not public.
I had a 3 gs before my DesireHD.
When it comes to photography the iPhone loses (did you try Vignette?)
And imho it loses in every other point....i gave the 3gs to my wife

[Q] 4.2 Stock Leap WIFI

Hi,
Has anyone who has updated to 4.2 tried connecting to a wifi network protected by leap, I am unable to connect since the update, I know my credentials are still correct and valid as my sensation on 4.03 are connecting still.
Thanks Andi
About to find out.
EDIT: I'm on my work network right now and LEAP is working fine. I used the factory image to update after the ota borked maps and the network location provider.

Same issue happens to me .... unresolved
Hi!
same issue has been seen on my Nexus 7 since OTA update to 4.2.
Ii is also same that my credentials are still collect because my another device, Galaxy-S, is working fine thru leap authentication.
I used "Leap WiFi" from Google Play to set credentials.
Looking forward hearing some hints to solve this.

Thanks for letting me know, I wonder if we have slightly different implementations on our networks as I can see someone else is having the same issue as me.
Just discovered the same issue, will probably put off updating my Gnex to 4.2 at this rate.
My N7 now won't connect to my work's network. I've reached out the developer of LEAP Wifi Free to see if they will investigate.
same here
i'm also trying to connect to the company network after updating to 4.2 using the incremental zip file via adb
the credentials are correct, as I could log in with them using my old Atrix 4G and my collegue's Nexus 7 still on 4.1.2
I'll try to get into our office tomorrow and perform a factory reset (however I doubt it would help)
I've been getting some problems too, when connecting to college network. My best guess would be the new file structure on 4.2 is the problem why many things are broken...

a factory reset won't solve it.authenticating with a network needing LEAP credentials is still failing
I can confirm LEAP being broken on Nexus 7 with stock 4.2
How about pimping the gui whilst your on this google ? We have to use custom apps to achieve basic functionality for years now...
Confirm my N7 3G on stock 4.2.1 has LEAP wifi broken. Tried Leap Wifi, still no luck.
Why is Google so reluctant to officially support Cisco Leap? Before 4.2 update, you have to hack config file to get connection, meanwhile LEAP has been supported very well day back to my still owning iphone 3G. And in IOS you just don't care what kind of technology is used (WPA, WEP, how can normal user understand such terms?), just enter necessary information, normally just pwd, or user+pwd for LEAP, and that's all.
Broken also on S3, 4.1.2 official firmware. Weird, anybody got a workaround?

Hiya,
not that I have found so far, it is very annoying!
I have been using LEAP at work every day since I got my n7. No problems at all. I think it might be a good idea to post the settings to see if there is something you're doing differently.

Just updated my Note 2 to 4.1.2 and having the same issue with LEAP wifi not connecting.
EDIT: Fixed, copied the /etc/wifi folder from a friend's 4.1.1 and changes permissions. LEAP now works
Can you please provide a zip of the wifi folder?
