[Q] Sweep2wake for Defy+? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anything like sweep2wake for Defy+ or workarounds? Tight power button is killing me.

Try allowing volume button to unlock the device ..

well, i'm using the volume rockers to wake up the device and to in the notification bar i added "standby" ... so don't need to use the button,
but sweep2wake would be a cool feature. maybe u talk direct to kernel devs?

There is an application which uses proximity sensor for unlocking. I dont remember its name. So just search in google play

Ask and you shall receive?
I've changed my "search" key to "power" which helps a lot, but doesn't wake up the device.
And if this feature hasn't even been requested, I guess I'll ask devs.

[Q] How to prevent Arc from being ON in its case ?

Hello,
I noticed a few times that the phone was ON while in its case
Too bad for the battery
Is it possible to use proximity sensor to prevent that ?
Cheers
you can disable the home key from waking the phone up.. you need root and root explorer..

Cool,
I am root, and I have Root Explorer, but how do I achieve that ?
Cheers
ok..you need to use root explorer.
find the pm8058-keypad.kl file in /system/usr/keylayout folder
open the file in edit mode and delete the wake_dropped comment on the home key line.
save, reboot, done.

you could use the method I described above to add WAKE_DROPPED to the volume keys if you want it to?
Thanks for the suggestion but placing wake dropped on volume keys didn't work for me, I guess I'll just stick with power button then.

[Q] Bind backbutton

Hi! Is it possible to bind the back button to end calls?
maybe in CyanogenMod ROMs, but I'm not sure...

Back button broken? Get Button Savior from the market.
I believe you can edit each buttons function, but the back button is pretty much essential, so you would be better using search instead.
Just edit the file at
/system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl
I havent tried it but i imagine you just look for the word search and replace with endcall.

If u r on cm7 then u can make use of power button to end calls.
Go to settings/accessibility and check the option there.
And as said above I believe u can edit the keyboard layout at /system/use/keylayout/

I find it not so bad thing to not have one button more. As you can still call Search function just simply holding Menu button down.
It works that way in every app and homescreen as you would have fourth button for Search function.
Press Home to get home, Long Press to have list of last used apps (for multitask)
Press Menu to get menu, Long Press to make a Search for app or homescreen
Press Back to get back, Long Press to kill front application (great on CM7)
Only thing what I wish I could do, is to bind menu button in home screen (now ADW Ex) to open Applist and not the menu of ADW.

[Q] Changing the function of the search button?

I was wondering whether I can turn off the screen by long pressing the search button, without affecting the function of short pressing the search button. I saw that there is a similar setting, but there is no option for turning off the screen.

Just tried it, it doesn't seem to allow hardware remapping
I want to change the menu button to recents, and holding down home to menu
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium HD app
there must be a way to do this...
Funny, what you want to do is exactly how mine works, and I can't avoid it!
Home button pulse from suspend, inevitably launches recents apps.
I want to use home button for wake up, letting me on home screen, and I can't. I must everytime close recents apps. Annoying!!

[Q] Lock home button rotation

Is there any way to make it so the software keys stay on the bottom (short side) of the nexus when I rotate it to landscape mode?
Sadly no
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
No, but u can flash a custom ROM and use the pie controls, u can set its position on rightside(bottom) while in landscape mode..
M a new member, trying 2 help if i can, so if i helped please press thanx button..
There aren't any ROMs that just don't let the buttons move, rather than adding the annoying pie controls?
