Just curious if there is a thread for the official CM10 for manta (ie. from get.cm)... Does anyone have a list of what's not working? Trying to see if that is something I want to flash and if I do, what I will need to put up with that is not working.
Also, for those of you running the official nightlies, do you flash everyday to try and keep up? Would think it's quite the hassle to reset up the N10 everyday (assuming you lose everything with each new build).

The CM OTA updater makes sure you don't lose anything between flashes including your GAPPs and settings, so it's not a big deal updating everyday.

For some reason the moderators felt that the CyanogenMod thread should be in general rather than either development forum.
Everything that works on the stock ROM works on CM10.1. Be sure to flash Google apps from http://www.goo.im
From then on you can keep CM10 up to date via the included updater in Settings->About as often as you'd like and you won't lose anything by doing the updates.
Thanks for the responses and the link to the official CM10 forum. Was looking in the development forums and was only finding "unofficial" threads.
Going to read up on CM10 for manta and then decide if I can live with what's broke. From the sounds of it, seems everything is mostly working.
So I've decided to take the plunge and go with CM10. I'm not finding instructions for a Mac. I've only seen toolkits that either run on windoze or linux.
Would the following instructions work from a Mac? I already have bootloader unlocked and CMW 6.0.1.9 touch installed (although it seems to be randomly rebooting while in recovery; think there is a fixed version that does not do this; however, I downloaded my version directly from the clockworkmod site, so...).
I've seen a few youtube video on how to install cm10 but they never tell you how to get the zip files onto the internal storage. They all start with the wipe then flash zip steps. So I thought I would try the following...
* copy latest cm10 nightly zip to /sdcard on the n10
* copy gapps to /sdcard on the n10
* boot into recovery
* Wipe Data/Factory Reset
* Wipe cache
* install from zip and install the cm10 nightly zip from /sdcard
* install from zip and install the gapps zip from /sdcard
* reboot
Not sure if the files in /sdcard will get deleted as a result of the "wipe data/factory reset" step and hence, not available when I get to the install from zip steps.
Anyone have better step by step instructions for getting cm10 onto an unlocked n10 with cwm touch installed using just a Mac?
Just noticed the official clockworkmod website has cwm 6.0.2.3 available. Have reflashed the new recovery. Seems to be better. The random reboots seem to be gone.
Now on to cm10. Anyone confirm my steps above or have better instructions?
For anyone wondering, I went ahead and switched to cm10 using the steps I listed 2 comments above. So these instructions will work if you want to manually install cm10 on your n10.

good friends, I would like to know if it is advisable to install the recovery teamwin as several friends have had problems and have failed to install the new ROM 156 and if you tried to return to the 155 rom or could not know and so I wonder if you can keep the old recovery. You do a great job. Thanks
can someone tell me whether to flash the ROM 156, eos team must change the recovery to teamwin or we leave we install the rooting. Thanks

nobody can tell me if the ROM for eos4 worth the recovery team or 4.0.0.4 must be installed or TWR teamwin is that I would keep my old recovery and if not with team in eos4 I can continue with.
I installed from my old recovery and screwed up my device. Ended up flashing honeycomb IMG files via fastboot totally back to stock. I would install the latest Teamwin if my experience is anything to go by.
hello gentlemen, it seems that if you have to install the recovery TemWin, have if someone confirms it. Thanks Team Eos

Short form tutorial ---
Root Xoom - if you are on 155 you have done this
install TWRP recovery -- check the thread in Developers forum for Xoom for links and instructions - this recovery seems to work well with all of the ROMS I've tried -- and is tested to work properly for the the 160 nightly for 4.2
Download the 160 nightly and the 1209 dated Gapps ( note.... due to technical issues with the Xoom this is the only one that will work properly.
Follow the instructions for EOS4 in the dev forum.
read, read, read the forums
going from 155 or earlier REQUIRES a complete wipe
"Perform a full wipe (read Factory Reset) prior to installing this over ANY ICS based rom."
install and enjoy..
I have CWM as my recovery and PA on the device.
I got a message today saying a new PA is out and grabbed the zip from goo manager.
Now I understand with goo manager you need a openscript recovery to use that to update though it appears CWM recovery doesn't use that but TWP does.
In CM10 you go to the settings and update from the OTA section in the about tab.
PA doesn't use those OTA updates it seems when CM does.
I would still be using CM but was getting a lot of crashes on M3 so I decided to try a few roms and currently running PA.
So what's the best way to update can I just flash the rom over the top of the current system without formatting first?
Thanks

Move the zip containing the update to /sdcard (your root documents directory, where all your files are stored- ANdroid, Data, DCIM, Downloads, etc), reboot to CWM, flash zip, select zip and go. That should be all you have to do. :good:
It worked fine for me using CWM and the usual method to update (recovery->install zip->select from SD). The only problem I'm having is a DPI issue in the launcher. Make sure to install the newest gapps as well and clear the cache.

Correct.
I've been running the 10-20130303-Nightly-encore for a while now with no problems. Yesterday I decided to try to use the CyanogenMod update to upgrade to 10.1.2. Did both Ti and CWM backups, then went ahead with the 10.1.2 update. This mostly worked, but several things broke right off the bat.
First, some of my apps either got erased or uninstalled. The icons were there, but tapping on them would bring up a message saying the app was not installed.
Second, as my Nook booted up, it reported several apps have stopped. (Such as gmail, Trillian, etc.) Worse yet, some of my apps wouldn't even run. (RomManager for one!) I attempted to restore some of those apps via Ti. Some of them restored but still didn't run. On a few of them, Ti just got stuck on the "Restoring..." popup.
Third, although my WiFi was connected and apparently working for some apps, other apps reported no network connection. (Namely the Play store!) I did notice that the WiFi icon at the top was always gray, not the normal blue.
After fiddling with it for several hours, I managed to get RomManager back up and reverted back to my previous backup.
So my questions are:
1. What is the correct way to update/upgrade using CyanogenMod's updater?
2. Should I have updated to 10.1.0 first, then 10.1.1, then 10.1.2?
Thanks!
You need to factory reset/clear data (probably need to wipe/format system as well) and install the correct gapps for 10.1 (20130301)
So, are you saying that I should go to the "CyanogenMod updates" settings, select the cm-10.1.2, download it (by taping the button to download), then not install it using the button to install it, but instead download (manually) the correct gapps, move both files to the sdcard root, reboot into recovery, totally wipe/reset the whole tablet, then install cm-10.1.2 and the gapps, and then begin to re-install all of my apps and data?
If so, then I think I fail to see the purpose of the "CyanogenMod updates" settings page.

If you have a "CWM based recovery" on internal memory, you should be able to download and install the CWM 10.1.2 using cmupdater. But you may have to manually install the right version of gapps the first time. After that just use the updater. No need to wipe anything if just updating CM10.1 to another CM10.1.
Obviously something when wrong last time and that is why dizzy recommended wiping. Usually that is not necessary.

Personally I have found the TWRP recovery to work more reliably than CWM. At some point I was having similar issues with the first updates after fresh-flashing my first CM10 nightly, and after switching to TWRP there has been no problems so far. As a bonus, ROMs which use GooManager for updates would also be able to install updates from GooManager automatically. If you only plan to use CM, what leapinlear says should work, too.
Thread targets me exactly, so thank you, thank you all.
Requesting further clarification ; I wish to use cmupdate to latest stable version for my Nook. Regardless of which flavor recovery I use, should I, first flash the appropriate gapps, then run the updater?
This seems to be the logical order if there is a chance that the recovery might get hosed during the update process. But will it work?
If I'm off track here please set me straight!

The CM Updater should work regardless whether gapps are installed or not — the updater does not need gapps to work.
The first time you install CM, the usual thing is to flash both CM and gapps (some people may decide to not use the Google stuff, so they choose to not flash gapps, but in general almost everybody would/should flash them). If gapps are installed, the CM updater will then preserve the gapps when doing an update, so it is not needed to flash gapps with each update.
I hope the explanation makes things a bit clearer for you
I've been trying to find instructions for installling CM11 (or 10.x for that matter) on my Bravo. The only guides/tutorials I find assume that I know a lot that I don't. Can anyone verify if these instructions are correct? I've included links to where I found each step.
Step 1: Install Drivers
Download and install Bravo drivers from https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481/action/auth
From link in this thread by josuearisty: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559109
Step 2: Root and bootmenu and recovery
Follow the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817842 also by josuearisty.
This roots, installs bootmenu (2nd init) and a recovery image.
Just running runme.bat you will have a Bravo ready to use new roms in less than a minute.
Instructions:
1. Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?yfgvds9a1w8sbds
2. Extract files whenever you want.
3. Enable USB debugging (menu > Settings > Applications > Development) and connect your phone to the PC.
4. Run runme.bat, in folder Root+Boot-AIO.
5. Press Enter when script ask you to do it and READY!

Step 3: Install GApps and ROM
Get the CM11 Bravo ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515036 by Quarx.
This also has a recovery (or an updated recovery?), is this needed? If so, how do you install this?
For CM10,10.1,10.2 < 07.11.13 users:
To install KitKat, need update recovery. Do not forget reboot, after install recovery.

Actually I had to install CM10.1 first, then install CM10.2 and last was to update the recovery.
After the recovery update I was able to install CM11.
So far so good. the only issue had been the crazy battery drain because the default clock have far to much voltage.
A little tweak and the battery is been drain like before (hardly a day of battery).
Any how It nice to see the latest version of android in this ol phone and see it work as my daily driver

One more question, how do you update the recovery?
Here's steps I took from stock.
Root and boot
Flash CM7
Boot and then recovery
Flash CM10.2
Boot and then recovery
Flash recovery update for bravo
Boot and then recovery
Flash CM11 and gapps
Bravo recovery
http://quarx2k.ru/cm11.0-nightly-kobe/update-kobe-recovery.zip
CM11 gapps, must use these
http://goo.im/devs/BaNkS/GApps/4.4.2//1-16_GApps_Core_4.4.2_signed.zip
ilmcgee, that's the sort of instructions I'm trying to understand. There's too many assumptions in what the user knows how to do and very little to no way to gain sufficient understanding to understand that abbreviated explanation.
For example, how does one install a new recovery image? It sounds like with the recovery from the (probably out of date CM11 build) that you don't need to progress through the other CM versions.
The Bravo's bootloader isn't unlocked so you must progress through newer roms to update the recovery. As far as I know, the recovery update must be flashed on twrp 2.6.3 and is not a standalone recovery. I do not pretend to understand how all this works, I just try to read and follow the guidance of others before me that know a lot more.

Not able to install ANY custom roms?
This seems recent thread seem to be the closest to my issue.
I have followed the same information as noted on this thread but have not been able to install ANY custom roms. I have tried to install 4 different versions ParanoidAndroid and CM7.2 Kang (and CM10.2 though I understand that it would not work directly from rooted stock). For PA, it seem to install but does not and boot back into rooted stock. For CM7.2 Kang, I get the euroskank bootloop. Which I had to use RSD Lite & *.sbf to reinstall stock, re-root, etc. Spent half the day at it and am lost.
I have had half a dozen Android phones which I have rooted and install custom roms on and I have no idea why this is not taking. Tried TWRP and CWM and same effect. Have even used the Bravo Recovery app as well but also the same.
Bought this phone for my parents and am planning to change it to a seniors phone. Thought I update it to the newest fast stable rom beforehand.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!
From stock you just need to do the root and boot and then get into your new recovery, volume down at the blue led. Once in recovery make sure to wipe battery, dalvik, cache and do factory reset. Battery and dalvik wipe are in advanced options in cwm. Then install your rom. Always be careful flashing sbf, most dangerous part, I prefer to use linux when flashing sbf.
And as far as new and stable, the cm7 roms are really your best bet for this phone, imo.
I recently rooted my Sprint LG G2. I'm a new to the whole installing a ROM's on my phone.
Is there any threads that go through the step by step process of installing ROMs?
Also, do I need a "recovery"? Or do these come with the ROMs?
Thanks to all that answer!

Download freegee from play store to install a recovery. I just rooted my G2 yesterday. I have a ROM ready to install but still researching the proper procedures to flash. I'll post back when i find it.
From a PA post:
Download ROMS from NEW DOWNLOADS
make sure you are on the latest TWRP (there are issues with CWM - u may try unofficial CWM)
1. DOWNLOAD YOUR ROM
2. DOWNLOAD THE LATEST PA 4.4 GAPPS PACKAGE - always check/use up to date Gapps unless otherwise noted
http://goo.gl/mYKmfL - - RECOMMEND mini modular PA Gapps latest
http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps
Wipe Fresh Clean Install (you all know the procedure)
3. COMPLETE CLEAN WIPE - *includes system*
4. FLASH ROM & GAPPS
5. WIPE CACHE & DALVIK
5. RUN INITIAL SETUP & REBOOT
Let boot take as much time as needed. This will help avoid boot issues.
From what I'm reading, essentially the SD card is partitioned. So apparently when formatting system the rest of storage remains intact. Download ROM (and GAPPS if needed) and just move onto SD card. Go from there.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here...
