Watch where you get your Apps from. - Galaxy S III General

With this Root exploit on Exynos I for one will be be careful where I get my Apps from, lets hope this hole gets closed.
Here :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2047991
There are some nasty people out there who want our info.

Thanks for raising awareness of this issue. Your advice should be applied by more people, not just because of this exploit but rather as a general precaution in every situation.

Yeah, I just saw this over at Engadget.
Well, it has reached public awareness now. Samsung should send us an update.

The next 4.1.2 update will almost certainly be delayed.

So what do you think who will get update first s3 or note 2?

White Widow 3.1 works awesome on my phone! Keep up the good work Andrizoid and all
the devs that helped out. Are you still coming out with 4.0?
yes, im still working on it. got FCs fixed, fixed FB synching, im attempting to build a wlan.ko for wifi fix again, trust me...its in the making
and the problem was that i included googleshits in the release rather than having them separate.
according to the mod who closed it, i will be back up as soon as he gets back online. he asked for the link to unlock it but by time i replied he was already off

LOL, I just read this thread. Well, it's good that its only due to GS and not some kind of "infringement" issue. You should consider renaming the ROM to "Outlaw Widow" hahaha!
Keep up the good work, been running 3.1 for a few days now and not one FC or reboot.
I also installed Handcent yesterday and actually sent a mms with success !!

GooD News For the GS2 Owners

Hii All Folks KaFrEEkAbOom Here
As the title Says I have a Very Good News for all the GS2 owners who are waiting for the Official ICS update
"confirmed now. Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich update is finally coming on March 1"
The news was revealed by tech insider Eldar Murtazin in his tweet. He recently wrote that March 1st would be the date when the smartphone would receive the OS update. This is about a month prior to the old expected date of update.

As the Eldar Says "Android 4 aka ics for sgs2 is going to be officially offered by March 1(depends from county/operator)"

I don't think it'll release on March 1. The way the betas are going. It might be mid March or so.
If it is true, 10 days left for me. BTW this like the 756th thread on this news...
About the app it's silly, all new-updated app makes update available for ICS 4.0, due to regulations for customers that bought already app.
And, as far as i know, 1 march =100% fully working stock rom with ICS, Samsung have been given before beta's already, now is the time for Sgs2 ICS
Great news if it does nothing else than speed up a full CM9 release

do you really think that google will push out another OTA update in 2 days after this?

If the software isn't perfect even on release day, Google will still issue updates accordingly. Its not like Google will sell you a phone, and then not fix any issues. So even if battery life is not perfect on day one, that could easily be fixed with an update. I am buying on day one no matter what, as I desperately need a new phone.

What's wrong with Google? I hope they get their sh*t together and release a final ota that fixes all the current bugs. I would think that they would update the software before the release to do any last minute debugging.

Seems like the devs over at google might be having a hard time getting a 3.4 kernel optimized for android devices... As far as I know, it's the first phone to use the 3.4.x kernel branch. Most other ICS or JB android devices use the 3.0.x branch.

Exynos 4 devices vulnerable

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35469999
From what i understand malicious apps from the play store can gain root access to your device using this method.
I hope this won't be regarded as spam, but i didn't see anything referring to this topic in this forum. If this thread is unnecessary, delete it.
Well another reason to root your device yourself and use Superuser or SuperSU, so you can control what app wants root access.

It's already insisted by Sammy official fw. But I wonder if official jb will also has, since jb main mem r/w mgmt security feature was array system layout randomization (ASLR) which randomizes all r/w processing in random ram address, so it'll pretty hard to get ramsysdump log access.
And also imo that's not a conspiracy by Sammy. I think they infringed consumer privacy rights by opening this exploits to make their bloatware (Sammy apps) runs smoothly without public confirmation.

lol, I am sorry, but that's a bit too far fetched. Just think about this from the end user's point of view (Not power users like XDA users/ ORB sufferers), the negative publicity Samsung will get (Since this issue is pretty much reported across all sites, whether dedicated to developers or just end user tech sites), will have more far reaching implications than any potential sales they will have from "switchers" from the S2. Further, general users tend to take such warnings where their data is potentially vulnerable very seriously (Even if there is a 0.00001% chance of it happening).

I'd rather HTC skip 4.2.2 and go directly to 4.3
HTC is doing a developer presentation at the Google I/O for features not available on 4.2.2... A number of sites suggested that this means these features will be included in 4.3. But this also means HTC has access to the code of the next Android revision, and hopefully this mean they are already working on a 4.3 update for the One.
