[Q] iGO primo TMC-RDS on our Defy? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was anybody successful enabling iGo primo TMC-RDS on our Defy? TMC-HTTP works pretty well, but sometimes is a bit expensive while in roaming. I understand Defy FM radio chip is RDS capable, so it will be great to receive TMC events through RDS.
Appreciate any experience/thoughts.
Thanks.

TMC/Traffic information with Touch HD - possible?

Hi,
I wonder if someone has already tested if there is any navigation software able to implement TMC or TMC-alike traffic information with Touch HD, using either the integrated FM radio or getting the information through an internet connection or so. So far, I got very different information on this topic that always started with "I think it should work ..." or "I think it does not work ...". Does anybody know? Has anyone tried this?
I do not want to get an extra hardware TMC module.
Only if TMC can be integrated it would be possible to replace my existing PNA by the Touch HD ...
Thanks!

Does anybody actually use TMC with the Touch HD?

Garmin Mobile XT has free Traffic info in Europe - this product works fine with the HD.
TomTom Navigator 7 also has a chargeable traffic option, and works with HD.
Both get their traffic info via Internet Connection.
Read in other forums that IGo finds TMC hardware on the HD, but as of now cannot use it. Maybe it will be activated with later ROMs.
I can confirm that Garmin Mobile XT's free traffic information works well in the US, as well. It uses your data connection but it's quick even on Edge speeds.
You do get highways agency traffic speed info through the google maps app, FWIW.
Traffictv is a Mobile / PC or Laptop version of Trafficmaster that works very well on the Touch HD. I've just d/l the latest version straight to my HD and with the GPS, it also route follows.
Have a look at it. I've been subscribing for a few years now and it works very well. (Uses all those sensors you can see frequently laid in the tarmac on the Motorways and the Blue Cameras on A roads.)
£39.99 a year.
Would be perfect if one of the Nav kit manufacturers added it to their Sat Navs.
Have you managed to get Traffictv to work with other software yet, such as TT, Igo8 or Navigon?
thanks

HD2 traffic TMC radio?

Would anyone know if the internal HD2 FM radio is capable of picking up the TMC traffic band?
Yes, but the FM Radio driver strips it out before it is passed on the calling applications.
flywhc (and to a lesser extent myself) are working on this here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497977

Android+RDS (TMC)

I wasn`t able to find any information, if HD2 can recieve RDS via FM on android. If it can, in that way, we can finnaly have TMC on HD2. Do you know something about it?
Thanks
Any solution will be also very interesting for me!
As we now have properly working NAND builds, does anybody know if TMC works for the HD2 under Android?
Thanks!
+1 as an RDS specialist I would love to have this on Android too

Hi,
seems neotouch and HD2-users are all stuck, because there is no information available on how to extract the TMC-info from the chipset.
So there has been no progress concerning the two in the threads you have already linked.
What makes things worse is, that you can have RDS-Info on the neotouch by default when listening to the radio.
So there is proof of principle, but without support from within the task to make TMC available to the device seems almost impossible, which in fact is a shame!
I would also love to have TMC available, right now the best substitute is trafficMate, unfortunately the information can't be used by igo for instance and there will be charges for wireless connection used.

good info,
it means that RDS Radio can get RDS data by using broadcomm dll, but Power Radio can't by using GFMAPI.dll.

[Q] HTC Magic GPS tethering

Hello everybody,
I own a HTC Magic (32A but I guess it doen't matter) and I'd like to know if there's a way to use it as a GPS bluetooth antenna.
Nobody I know has tried to do it yet, and I have never seen a sort of GPS-tethering app.
Does anybody know if I can do it and, if I could, how?
I have an "old" N900 which has always been my GPS navigator, but now I broke my external GPS antenna and I don't want to spend money on a new one
It would be awesome if I could tether both data connection and GPS via bluetooth to my N900.
Thanks in advance for your answers!
