Problems with defy. - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My defy doesn't power up..no recovery mode, no boot logo. i have 4.1.1 CM9 installed..i tried to install 4.0.4 and then appeared tho cyanogen boot logo and that's it. I followed this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537 and now my phone doesn't power up.
WHAT CAN I DO NOW!? Please help me!(
I don't know the english language very well so please don't judge me.

Some more information please..
Please tell me the exact steps you followed to get a custom recovery and also mention which ROM you flashed (BTW 4.1.x is CM10) and what process you followed in recovery mode..
The steps you should have followed are -
1. root your phone
2. install 2ndinit
3. download the rom and the gapps (and kernel if required) and place them in your sd card
4. boot into bootmenu and then custom recovery (press volume down button when the blue led shines while booting up - when the red moto logo is displyed)
5. in recovery - wipe data, wipe cache, advanced - wipe dalvik, install the zips (rom and gapps, kernel if required) from sd card, wipe cache again, wipe dalvik again, reboot
6. wait! beacause first boot is lengthy..
7. enjoy your device.
If you have done anything different or have not done anything from the above mentioned steps, please repeat the process doing that also..
BTW the link you have mentioned is a collection of stock SBF files..(default moto roms)
There is nothing there which will help you to upgrade to ICS or JB..
Please check this thread for Jelly Bean 4.1.2..(CM10)
It is a great place to start because it is the latest as well as simple to install ( one build for both defy and defy+)
But if you want a stable build, check this. It is 2.3.7 gingerbread..(CM7)
No kernel flashing required for both the roms
Please press the thanks button if this post helped you :highfive:
PS: which language do you speak natively, maybe we can help you in that language :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Stuck CM7 logo. Can't access custom recovery AND no results StockRecovery

Heeey guys!!
My problem is the following and I think that you can help me out!
I followed THE guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654 and the FAQ and I installed the CM7 however I am facing the common problem which is to stuck in the screen seeing the skate-android-guy. In the FAQ the solution was to access the custom recovery and clear cache. If you cant see custom you have to clear cache from stock recovery. I did that, I reboot and i am facing the same problem.
So, I have a stacked CM7 with no custom recovery...
I am bit disappointed right now...
Thank you for your time.
pull the battery, and enter custom recovery with vol down when led is blue. clear cache and advanced -> wipe dalvik cache. reboot. worked for me last time i had cm7
-----
Sent from my Defy rocking ICS
Unfortunately, I did all the following but i couldnt access the custom recovery.. only the stock recovery.. after some hours i was bored trying to fix it so I flashed again the froyo version. Now, i am gonna install again CM7 hoping for the Success!!!
Thank you for your time sumeshpremraj!
Success i am running cm7

[Q] Help - Defy is stuck in bootloop

Hello
I've tried to upgrade my Defy (525, green lens) to CM10(jelly bean), but im stuck in a boot loop!
My phone had originally Android 2.1 installed, one year ago i successfully rooted it and Android 2.2 successfully.
What i've tried:
- load into 2nd init, wipe cache/wipe data
- install kernel-froyo-222-179-4-signed
- install CM10-20120924-NIGHTLY-mb525
- wipe dalvik cache(this does not promp for confirm, and prints nothing to the console, is this normal?), wipe data
- reboot. Now its stuck in an endless boot loop.
I can enter bootmenu/bootloader/2nd init/stable recovery. I can share here the SD card, so i can copy stuff to my phone
But as i turn on the phone, the red moto logo appears, the top LED is blue, then green, then reboot.
Did i miss something? (I've read somewhere about flashing SBF, do i need to do it?)
EDIT: I've tried to install cm-7-20120930-NIGHTLY-jordan.zip, but this gets stuck at the moto logo forever...Can i someohw see the bootlogs to fund out the problem?
Thanks
EDIT2: Solved it!
1. installed back Nordic froyo with RSD lite, rooted again
2. instaaled CM7 with this tut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054447
3. installed CM10 with the instructions from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647
dunno what went wrong for the 1st time, maybe upgrading from 2.2->4.1 does not work...
What went wrong
You have answered yourself. In the link to install Cm10, you will see the instruction requires you to flash froyo kernel.
For MB525 builds:
1) Go to Stable Recovery.
2) Wipe data/factory reset, wipe Cache and go to Advanced ► Wipe dalvik.
3) Go to install zip from sdcard ► Choose zip from sd card.
4) Flash froyo kernel
5) Flash CM10-2012xxxx-NIGHTLY-mb525.zip.
6) Flash Gapps.
7) Wipe Cache and Dalvik again (recommended).
8) Restart.

[Q] Question about MS2Ginger

I'm currently running CM10.2 by Engle_Mars but I would like to try MS2Ginger 5. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931968 )
I've read the thread but can't really find some concrete information as to the installation steps. Do I need to install both the rom and the kernel listed in that thread?
I have the latest kernel: SPKernelR6+UP.7z (16.05 - New Revision! <Rev6>) and the v5 Rom.
In cm10.2 Do I just reboot to recovery, install the kernel, install the rom, wipe data/cache, reboot?
Thanks.

You dont need to install kernel from MSGinger thread. It is working with stock one without any problem
0. Extract rom to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
1. you must format data and cache to ext3 - you can do that from bootmenu
2. boot to recovery and flash this recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/?i1rcie7tf4y6rmu
because CM10.2 has TWRP recovery and it cant recover CWM nandroid backups
3. Boot to CWM based Recovery.
4. Restore the ROM.
5. Reboot , boot again to CWM
6. Now Wipe Data & Cache.
Thank you!

The correct procedure to install CM

I tried to update my Defy+ MB526 at a newer version of Android (Jelly Bean or more... now it's running with the factory 2.3.6 ) but I have a problem with the installation of CM.
1) I rooted my device with Framaroot "Super SU" and checked wit "Root checker" and it is ok.
2) Then I stored in the SD the CM file.zip (before the 10.2 and after the 11) and the Gapps.zip.
3) I installed the SndinitDefy_2.3.apk
4) I ran the recovery mode, wiped factory/data, wiped cache partition, wiped Dalvik cache
5) Then install zip from SD card, but the file "cm-11-20131229-nightly-mb526.zip" and also the "cm-10.2-20131020-nightly-mb526.zip" aborted the installation with "error status (0)".
I dont' know why.
Please tell me if the procedure I've done is correct. Otherwise write me the correct steps. Thank you. :good:
Ps: system version: 45.0.2310.mb526.retail.en.de
build n°: 4.5.1-134_dfp-231
Flash this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48501247, then reboot and go to recovery again. Then flash CM.

Thank you Hotdog.
I tried with flash the Sndinit and after, by the custom recovery, I've flashed the Twrp. After I've started the Twrp recovery and flashed the CM11. It seemed ok but when I rebooted the device to install the Gapps, it has gone in infinity loop.
After that, i made a mistake because i did a completely reset of the device (the total wipe) and after I've reeboted the Defy and it bricked!!!
But with the guide in this forum I un-bricked it (It isn't difficult, it's easy) and then I tried, by the same previous way, to install the CM10.
With the CM10 it works awesome (4.1.2) and the gapps didn't create any problem!
Thank you again and many thanks to all people that everyday helps each other in this forum (especially non-expertised like me!)

[Q] I just see M logo. Please help

Hi guy's
i have ME722 (milestone 2 china version blur) i bought it with cyanogenmod 4.3 firmware on it.but it was working so slow and i wanted to turn it back to cyanogenmod 2.3.6 or something like that which works easy,i downloaded 3 different firmware and copied to SD card ,i used power +x and after seeing android logo i pressed Vol+ Vol- together then i got menu,i pressed wipe cache and reset factory, then i go to update from SD card and when i'm trying to load zip files it say's signature error and nothing happens ,i should say i lost my ex cyanogenmod 4.3 firmware and now i just see Red M logo with nothing for loooong time when i press power, help me how to start as a noob and how to install new ROM or solve problem.thanks.
Stock recovery (accessed with holding x or @ during boot, then vol up + down) cannot flash custom ROMs. You have to flash CWM recovery first. But if you're stuck with Motorola logo, I think the only thing you can do is flash stock GB ROM with RSD Lite program under Windows. After that you should get a running fresh GB ROM (you might have to perform full system/cache clean from stock recovery). Then you have to root your phone (with gingerbreak exploit), then install "droid bootstrap" application, which flashes an early version of CWM recovery, then reboot, and while there's a blue led light press vol down to enter custom recovery. With it you should be able to flash CM10.1 ROM, which will update CWM to a version that is able to flash modern 10.2/11 ROMs.
I hope these tips help.
