Sony Xperia T Onscreen button shapes on Nexus 4 possible? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys the title says it all, im just wondering if its possible to change the shapes of the onscreen buttons at the bottom to ones that look like the ones on the sony styled phones? Anybody here have the skills to do it?

Not sure about the ones your describing specifically, however you can change the navigation buttons. Do some searching, it's around here somewhere. I'll see if I can find it real quick...
Here we go..not sure if the ones you're looking for are included, but there's a bunch of options!

BTW on Zylon Rom it's very simple to change the action & Icon. I think it allows you to change it to any image you have on your phone, but haven't messed with it yet. I believe AOKP has similar/same feature.
P.S.
Yaa post #500! :highfive:

[Q] Can the software keys bar be made slim?

I have tried to search on Google, but could only find mods to change the icons.
Is it possible to make the software keys bar (back, home, multitask) more narrow? I would not mind if it could be made 2/3 of the current size and just had smaller icons.
Rooted & unlocked with stock 4.2.1.

I would like to know this too, so bumping thread!
It would be sweet too to embed buttons for Track back/forward so it's possible to control music when using fullscreen apps like Sygic Nav. - I would kill for that feature.
// Per.
Bump?
edit framework-res not sure and dont ask me how cause i dont know
Paranoid Android will do it, and let you change the navigation bar button colors, too.
I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow.

[Q]Different kind of UI possible?

After switching between tablet and phablet UI's, trying to decide which one I liked better, I decided I want a hybrid of the phablet and the tablet UI (like a thablet?, this name stuff is getting ridiculous). I want one bar on the bottom of the screen with my nav buttons in the middle, and the status/quick setting on right, and the notifications on the left. Is there currently any way to do this?
I made an awesome MSPaint mock-up of what I'm talking about.
I don't know of any way to make these changes without writing your own custom ROM.
I really like the layout you are proposing. It's genius! It's a perfect combination of the classic Honeycomb interface and the new 4.1 phone-UI-on-tablet interface.
You should talk to a ROM developer about this layout.

Transparent navbar system wide

So as title says, how can i get transparent navigation bar system wide? Please do not offer pie controls or stuff like that, i just want navigation buttons on completely transparent background just like on home screen but system wide. Any ideas?
+1
I'd like this too, especially since I heard about burn-in on oled screens. But mostly I just like the way it looks on my home screen now.
Maybe there's a CMTE or layers theme that offers this?
No one knows? Doesnt sound like such a hard customisation, there are loads of navbar mods, but im yet to find one to do what i want
Yeah would love too see this myself. I'm not sure why Google doesn't have a way to do it as it would make Android look so much better then black bars.
Seems impossible for now, looked everywhere didnt find a solution
I have been looking for a while how to do this myself. It seems like something Google enforced to align the color shift from app to app. Which while is a neat take on style is not my preference. I would much rather have a consistent look and feel but to each there own.

visual mods

Hi all,
In the past a few mods have caught my eye, over time they've slowed stopped being available on all devices, mostly because of changes made to android.
Here's a list of the ones I liked most.
1. Screen off animation, the CRT on /off it just looked amazing.
2. List view animations, not completely gone but not exactly something you can just flash.
3. Halo, I know this was paranoid androids, but it never got ported over quite as much as I thought it would..
My question is are these available anywhere ? Any idea how to flash them ? Or even if anyone misses them like I do?
I know that CRT and list view can be obtained by flashing two Xposed modules called
Screen off animation and xui mod.
Halo I've never seen outside of PA.
But these mods used to be flash able as standalone without Xposed.
Personally I'd like to avoid Xposed as it breaks so much and I don't like it to be honest, although its a great bit of software.
Any ideas ?

You can use Screen Off and Lock ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en ) to achieve your desired screen lock effect. I too LOVE the CRT T.V. off look that Moto put on their phones some time ago. I use this app all the time in conjunction with Nova Launcher's ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en ) double tap action just to make everything super fluid. As for the list animations, I am not too sure what you mean but they may be found in Nova settings too. I know it has an option for something like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As far as the Halo type things you may want there is an app called Unique Controls and does not require root. Hope this helps!

This is one of my old HTC devices the list view animations can be seen here as can the screen off animation,. The CRT animation was changed from not existing to CRT to fade which it is now, the Nexus devices had it originally then vanilla type phones like Moto followed suit.
I've seen the application and it's not quite the same, although it wasn't last I tried it, I'll give it a whirl and see how it is.
Same with unique contrails, sorry I probably should have mentioned this too, they aren't quite the same as the originals.
Appreciate you taking the time to answer though, thanks.
From what i remember it was something to do with surface flinger but I remember that that has now changed although could be wrong (screen off animation that is)
Any other ideas?
Ok so that app has come a long way, by all accounts it doesn't allow for the actual power button to show the screen animation and fingerprint didn't work, probably a way to map a key to it.
Will check it out tomorrow
Cheers
Ok so tried a few of them apps and none of them allow you to use fingerprint thereafter

Yep there was, however back in the day it wasn't required.

Navbar question

Hi I got OnePlus 6t and I have a problem with the navigation bar . Always but always is white when I am using a colour application a game or something and become black if I use a white application like chrome for example. I can understand this is a future to prevent screen burning but for me is so annoying. My wife got s9 plus and the navigation bar become transparent plus you got the option to change it black or how you like it.
I don't know if is only me or I am too fussy but is so bad so fuxxking bad I try to speak with some guys in the community app I try to tell them a future abut this but they not doing anything..
Now I flash beta 4 hoping that they done something. Guess what . Nothing
Try the app "Navbar Apps" in the Play Store.
Nothing against the author of the app mentioned but having to give out that much access to your device to change something that should be part of the theme is a design weak point.
If you're Rooted you can install Xposed and use BlackNavigationBar and it works flawlessly.
rahlquist .
Yeah you are right they can add this future to change the nav bar easy.
benclaytonmke
i will root it back just for this future ,i didn't know that xbosed is working on android 9 , i will check a tuturial on xda forum
Hi all,
i didn't want to make a whole thread just to ask if any have found/use a app similar to what "Custom Navigation Bar" by paphonb used to do?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-custom-navigation-bar-customize-t3590967
i dont want to change colors or add images like other apps, i just want to add a back button on the right side same as the left one for the pie navbar. is not about swap the back button to the right, is having 2 back icons and change the image to dots.
