Hi everyone, i could do with some help.
I was messing around with my nexus erilier today and found the "Simulate Secondary Displays" tab under the Dev tab, so i was having a look then it decided to freeze and has not come around since.
I have tried to lock/unlock the tab but to no avail, and as you can not get to the battery on the thing, i cant take that out.
Any help is very much appreciated.

if you're ever in a boot loop, or stuck on the google logo, long press the power button until it reboots and press/hold the volume down button at the same time to get it into the bootloader, then chose the recovery option

Anybody knows what's wrong and how do I solve it? Here's the entire story (if it helps):
I went to Play and updated my apps. I press and held the power button and selected "restart". (I restart my device regularly) However, after shutting down, it does not boot at all and no matter how many times I press the power button it just wouldn't boot up!
I tried charging it too. Nothing happens even after plugging in.

Can you get to the boot loader, if so, try to wipe data from the recovery within the boot loader.
Or else leave the battery to drain fully , this will solve your problem and the tab will boot.
This happened to me couple of weeks ago and draining the battery solved this issue.

May I know how do I get to the bootloader? I can't even allow the battery to drain. The problem is it is not even starting at all. I pressed the power button a million times and NOTHING happens at all, the screen didn't even turn on.

Nope. I wish it did.
Try to hold the power button in about 4 or 5 seconds. I doubt it'll do anything. It sounds like there's a problem with power button or hardware.
I had a thrive 7 before I got my gtab 7.7 and my first one I exchanged because of a problem identical to yours. It was very sketchy to power on.
Exchange or warranty if you can unless someone else has any ideas

Only alternative left to leave it till battery drains, if you can remember the battery percentage before this happens, otherwise i am out of solutions.
A service center would be an alternative choice.

I decided to give it another shot a minute ago and it miraculously worked! I have no idea what's wrong or what caused the positive issue but am happy that it is fine now. Thanks guys!
First off, I hope I posted this in the right forum. If not, then I offer my apologies.
Secondly, my problem is pretty much described in the title to this thread. I was going to wait until after the official ICS update before rooting my tab (sounds a bit silly, I know). Now, I have the official update installed and I was trying to follow directions to root the tab - all of which want the tab to be in download mode. The problem is that when I power down the tab and then hold the volume down + power button, I get the white "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" startup screen. If I continue to hold down the two buttons, then the tab simply reboots, never getting past the startup screen I just described (it will continue to reboot every few seconds for as long as I hold the two buttons down). If I release the two buttons right after that startup screen (as I've seen a few tutorials recommend), then the tab boots up normally.
Any thoughts on either an alternate method to get the tab into download mode, or on what I can do to correct this so I can get into download mode???
I will throw you a bone here friend...my policy is, everybody gets one. lol!
In reading this, I am scared for you if you are thinking about doing any flashing this early.
You are not following the procedure to get into download mode properly. Hold Power and Vol Down ONLY until you see the Galaxy Tab logo. Then release the Power button while continuing to hold Volume down until you see the two icons for recovery and download mode.
I very adamantly suggest you spend at least a week reading the basic How To's on this site or you risk wrecking your device. Not trying to be rude or condesending but your post really does expose your lack of research good luck!
I've flashed an HTC Hero, 2 Evo 4G's, 3 Samsung Epics and a Moment, so I'm not exactly new to flashing/rooting/rom-ing. This is, however, the first tablet I've tried to flash.
I appreciate you boning me, djmatt604 ( ). That was exactly what I needed and I am now in download mode. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hold on the power button just until the samsung screens appear, if you hold the power button for 10s it will force shutdown your device.

Haha! Just paying it forward bud I got much of the same when I got started! Your account details definitely aren't indicative of a seasoned flasher lol...Glad you're in good shape!
Actualy you dont have to hold powerbutton the whole time.
Just turn off. Press power (not holding) and you can directly after that press and hold vol down till the download/recover chooser appears.

That's because I can usually figure things out with the immense help of google and the myriad of forums available. For some reason, I just didn't grasp that you had to hold the volume down button and release the power button. I'm rooted and happy now.
Thanks to all that replied, I appreciate you all!!!!
Right on bro, enjoy your tab!
Hi recently left work to find my phone constantly pressing the back, home and the far right button (don't know the name) constantly to the point where I can't use it. I managed to hard boot into recovery mode (power + down until LG screen, release and press again) and even managed to flash a ROM I already had (after several frustrating minutes), but the phone still can't be used. I can get past the setup screen and nothing seems to work.
Anyone have any solutions for me or am I screwed and need a new device?

There's a thread here where a lot of people are experiencing the same thing. Maybe you you can find something useful there.
Hello guys.
I do have an SGS4 i9505 which runs on CM for more than two years now.
In February 2015, I've installed TWRP 2.8.1.0 then CM12 and the associated GAPPS.
Today, May 20th, I did the update to CM12.1-20150519 from the updater of my phone (Settings, About..., CyanogenMod).
Unfortunately, since then, my phone does not want to boot anymore. It keeps boot looping. I can see the (nice) "Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505" screen but nothing more.
I can access the Download Mode but only for a couple seconds, then the phone shuts down.
I can press the VolDown + Power button to try to access my recovery (TWRP 2.8.1.0 as I previous mentioned). If I do see the same "Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505" screen with the "recovery access" message in blue in the top left corner of the screen, it does not launch it at all...
Have you guys any idea how I could resolve this issue which seems quite fatal ? Is my phone hard bricked ?
[05/21] EDIT : The battery does not seem to charge anymore. No LED noitification, no warm in the back of it.
[05/22] EDIT : The phone can not switch on properly, I have to withdraw then place it back in.
Thanks in advance,
Daga.
No you can relax. It's your power button that is faulty. Either try to wiggle it lose or replace it. It costs around 2 dollar.
I'll try it, thanks.
I did not mention it before (and just edited my first message this way), but I can not start my "phone normally". I hve to withdraw the battery then pu back in to do so.
Thanks again,
Daga.

I put my money on the power button It's a common problem for the s4.
If it were the Power button, would not the battery charge anyway ?
Thanks,
Daga

take the battery out the phone and with your finger, slide across the side of the power button back and forth repeatedly. Pop battery in and see if it boots ?
You bet it good on the Power button !
I used a needle and try to "extract" it. If I did not succeed in it, it made feel my phone way better.
Thanks a lot for the tip. I would not have imagined how a simple Power button could lead to such kind of troubles...
Have a nice week end guys, and thanks again.
Daga.
I think thats what someone on another forum called it, they said to head over here beacause you guys know alot more. My Phone won't get past the "Samsung Galaxy S8 - Powered by Android screen"
I've tried the usual. Down and power key, Up Bixby and power. They either do nothing or keep bringing me back to that screen. I also didnt have Samsung Switch installed to try that way either.
If anyone has any idea I'd really appreciate it and hopefull ive posted in the right section of the forum.
Could you try pressing volume down+power button for aprox. 7 seconds (till the screen goes black), the phone should reboot now. (This next step can be kinda tricky, but you can just try over and over until you do it.) While the screen is still black, press either volume down+bixby+power button or volume up+bixby+power button. This should either boot you into recovery or download mode. Let us know if you can make it to this point
At work ATM, but yeah I will give this a go later when I get back, thanks for the quick reply!
