thanks :fingers-crossed:
Thanks a TON DLd it right away.
For a pre-nightly, this is damn impressive. Thanks pawtip.
@pawtip are there any major difference with your [AOSP][ROM][4.2.1] JellyBean 4.2 (20121209) ??? I flashed that a few days back on my wife's captivate and she tells me its fantastic. So she is now curious about this release.
Significantly smoother and faster than the AOSP rom, with added CM goodies (back to ICS level).
Aside from (still) having no GPS, I'm very content with this update.
I'm using this as a daily driver ATM. Only issue I see so far is GPS. Which I'm sure AngryGPS might be able to fix. Just I haven't had time to test that theory.
@Lollipop_Lawlipop
JB 4.2 uses the equivalent to Semaphore's Smooth UI, so it should feel smoother. (http://www.android.com/whatsnew/)
I'm using this ROM with Semaphore 2.8 sc and everything seem to be ok. Restored all my apps with TiBu and besides a warning about turning USB Debugging on and taking an eternity restoring, everything went well.
Now to the questions:
Developer Options isn't showing on settings. It's supossed to be that way?
The navigation bar options aren't showing but that's because this is a pre-nightly, I presume.
Whats the matter with GPS? I'm indoors at work so I can't test it.
What I meant was that this release is significantly faster and smoother than the 4.2.1 AOSP rom we had previously. That one had a bit of lag in basically everything, including waking up and going to sleep.
In this rom, the example I referred to is back to the snappy speed we had from stable ICS roms.
I do know that 4.2 is more buttery than 4.1. I would know - I have a nexus 7 the hardware is slow on the captivate though so the extra smoothness is not very apparent.
Developer options can be accessed by tapping the build number in about phone 7 times.
Bravo! Just flashed and restored all of my apps. I'm really impressed with the fluidity and functionality so far for a prenightly.

Are you sure that GPS is broken? It worked on the I9000 and I don't see any reason why it'd be broken here.
Alright now everyone before we start going on that the GPS doesn't work first check in settings under location access to make sure GPS is on. Now go back to settings then under accounts section tap on Google account and tap on location settings under privacy. Finally make sure that the location access switch is in the on position. If anyone has trouble regarding GPS try this method first then report back. I would also like to say that Pawitp, this ROM runs solid no problems as of yet and GPS locks on in under 10 sec. Thanks man really appreciate it have been waiting for this ROM for what seems like forever but I'm glad its here now.
I'm out of the office now and just tried GPS. GPS works for me with N drive, and GPS status. It struggled a little (30 s) but got the fix.

flashing from GB
So, I'm going to go ahead and be the first guy to ask this: can someone help provide some guidelines for flashing from GB? I'm currently running stock, rooted KI2, but no CWM.
Tell me if I'm on the right track:
Find a one-click back to stock eclair or froyo to replace the bootloaders.
Root and install Clockwork ROM manager and Clockwork Recovery
follow directions in OP to install CM7.1
Seems straightforward enough, but I have not yet tried to revert back to eclair/froyo from GB. Any suggestions for good, safe ways to do so? Is there something that can accomplish steps 1 and 2 in a single step?
For someone new to Cyanogenmod what are the differences between CM7 and CM7.1?

Really? This is CM 7.1.
Nice to be officially be supported! I have a question though, I have used CM7 on and off and was wondering if battery life issues have been solved/eased. At the time I thought that the issue was related to closed source drivers and thus unsolvable.
I have to admit, I haven't been following the CM development as closely as I should have, so sorry if I missed that one.

I'd also like to know this.
if for example I have the at&t TB bootloaders (released in an Odin package by Cesar) and I'm currently on apex (rom) and talon (kernel) could I just flash from cwm? Its using cwm3, I would think the only main difference would be the newer bootloaders.

I just read today that the reason is they can not get some components to sleep properly due to closed source drivers. No, that has not been solved. There isn't enough of a difference though to make me use a Samsung ROM...

I guess I should have posted this in the Q&A section but there is no Q&A for 7.1 yet. Can the mods move this post if a 7.1 thread is started. Sorry!

Gotta flash this sooner or later and give it a test run. Never thought I'd see the day, hooray for our tiny Eris getting official CM7.
So far it is working great on one of my eris. It takes a bit of tweaking but it runs great. everything seems to be working. I did not take a drive with the NAV yet but it is working. No reboots and all the other apps are also working great.

First off thanks so much for all of your work devs, I greatly appreciate it. Secondly, I realize these instructions are probably generic, but I think it should be mentioned that CWM and the Eris do not play nice (if memory serves right). Maybe edit that section to redirect to the flashing Amon RA recovery thread.
Thank you again guys

I've been using CWM (via ROM Manager) on my Eris for a year and three months without one problem. As it is through ROM Manager, of course, that means I'm using it on top of Amon RA, but just wanted to point out that CWM has never had a problem on me. Sorry for OT post.
I kinda feel bad using this since I've been using some of the other ROMs available, but this is running perfectly so far. Super fast boot up times, smooth scrolling, the new lock screen is like buttah.
Nice to see this truly officially official for the Eris!
I wish it had come sooner, but this will definitely tide me over until I can grab up the Galaxy Nexus - thanks!
Navigation seems to work without force closing. This is good. Very stable. no 3g drops. Needs kernel speed tweaks to bring it up to the level of gsb or condemnedcm7. Can use some more balanced memfree settings (zepplinrocks scripts should work if you use them I don't). Definitely set to over clock at 710, plus set jit and 18% compcache and lock home in memory.

Anybody wanna back this up? Doesn't seem noticeably slower for me at the CM default of 604, and JIT was on by default I think. compcache is off, even though it says "default" next to 18% (huh?).
I DO agree with lock home in memory though.

Any chance you'd be able to let it idle for X hours from a full charge and post the battery info screenshot for us?
Is it just me or is WiFi tethering not working? Every time I turn on Portable WiFi hotspot option, it turns off my WiFi automatically (if it is turned on). If WiFi is not turned on, turning on WiFi hotspot option won't turn it on either.
I know I've read about people having errors downloading from the Play store before. "Error retrieving information from server.", not necessarily with any CM Rom, however I've never had it happen before flashing this nightly. Anyone else recall this issue? and what the fix was?
Awesome job CM10 team! I'll stick with helly bean for now, but I will surely jump on the bandwagon once I see some positive results.

My battery vanished, anyone else?
So far so good, I do miss devil kernel tho. I tried 1.1.3 that I thought was for this rom but it didn't fly. Pawtip, I know it is not recommended and you don't support it, but is there a devil kernel that works with this bad boy? Thanks for the efforts!

This is a build of Android JellyBean 4.2 from AOSP source code based on the CyanogenMod device tree for Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I have made this build to gauge how difficult it would be to port JellyBean 4.2 to current devices. In its current state, I consider this stable enough for daily use.
Kernel Source Code: https://github.com/pawitp/android_kernel_samsung_aries/tree/jellybean-next
Other source code: See CM GitHub/Gerrit
What Works?
Almost everything you can think of, RIL, Data, Wifi, Camera, Audio, GPS, TV-Out, mounting external SD card on PC, etc. See the known issue list below for list of things that do not work.

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Note that this is a preview release and non-device specific bugs will not be accepted. The development of this preview will also cease once enough progress has been made in CyanogenMod. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved.

EDIT: Used the LANIGHT Hackfest updater-script, and it worked.
CM10 Stable Required or later nightly ok?
So this should work if I'm running the 11/25 CM10 nightly? Or does it require CM10 stable?
Yep, I have been trying different combos with LaNight also. Couldn't get WiFi to connect so I will keep trying to work the two releases. I will keep posting if I find anything.

Done!
I've uploaded 20121126v2 which should fix the problem
No issues on a straight upgrade from CM10 -> jellybean next. I manually fixed the issue with the v1.
Wifi works fine, and although there's no DSPManager in AOSP, I downloaded Voodoo Control App and changed my Voodoo Sound settings there. That worked fine too.
Anything specific you want us to test, pawitp?

Anyone having trouble with the Play Store? I'm unable to download any apps. I'm getting an error message. I'll post details if a Factory Reset doesn't fix the issue.
Update: Everything works perfectly after another factory reset and a format of /system.
Awesome! I restored my cm10 setup but I'll try again later this week

Grabbing logcats and dmesg along with last_klog.
These are helpful in figuring out what is going on
Install the sdk in you PC http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Logcat
"adb shell logcat >logcat.txt"
This will run until unplugged or ctrl c and all the content will go into that file
dmesg
"adb shell cat proc/kmsg >dmesg.txt"
This will run until unplugged or ctrl c and all the content will go into that file
Last_klog
"adb shell cat proc/last_klog >lastklog.txt"
This is for if you have a reboot run this right after the device starts back up and it will get me the last dmesg from before it reboot and will help determine the cause of the reboot.
This will help me and everyone that uses this ROM as i can determine the cause of issues.
Thanks
Thank you for the continued HP Touchpad Development and support Flintman.

Thanks to both of you. For the roms and the video walk thru. I haven't tried art on the touchpad because it actually makes my Galaxy Nexus slower most of the time. And with some gapps it's even worse. Since it isn't listed as broken I am assuming you have tried it. If I may ask. What gapps did you use and what was performance like? It prevented my nexus from booting at times. Just wanna stick with what you have tried until I get use to the new data media and such. Thanks again.

Added another build see OP for what was changed. I also adding in a touch recovery TWRP with data/media and SELINUX support. This will also allow you access to your webOS media folder which is know in the new build as external_sd. I have tested out all the features and everything is working great but please save a full backup from your previous recovery if you decide to use this recovery as it's still in an Alpha state.
Enjoy

Thanks a lot for this amazing ROM and the recovery I had few bug with the reboot ... The recovery freezed and i have to manually reboot to unfreeze it ... A part from that great job Can't wait to see what you are going to bring next
And just one little request ... I love having the clock center on the status bar ... Do you think you can add it to the Evervolv project ? That's would be a great feature

Okay, I am doing something wrong. I have downloaded the recovery multiple times from multiple devices. I have tried installing via TWRP and manually extracting the image to /boot.
Each attempt, I get:
Checking uImage... Invalid Size

Any thoughts? I can still load my backup copy of TWRP without issue.
Update:
After purging the other copies of TWRP from /boot, the new version loads without issue. Thanks flintman!
Discovered that the TP 4G not compatible with the test 3.X Kernel yet
Hey Flintman just wanted to point out my findings after going crazy over the past couple weeks trying to figure what I was doing wrong when flashing the test Kit Kat ROMs w/3.X kernel.
Previously my TP 4G was working fine on shumash's SCHIZOID 4.2.2 ROM but I was extremely eager to try out the new 3.X kernels. I first tried out your non-data/media Evervolv 4.0.0p1 version and was unable to connect to WiFi despite repeated clean install methods and variations of cache wipes. I know that I had re-sized partitions with Tailor sufficiently for Kit Kat as warned so I then attempted to try out Invisblek's CM11 ROM. Not only was WiFi still not wanting to toggle on, but the rotation sensor was acting oppositely for landscape orientations and I was getting frequent crashing reboots just going through the UI. I then decided to try out JCSullins' updated CM10.1 ROM with his 3.0 kernel and then encountered the same behavior as Invisblek's CM11 ROM, but with even worse random touch driver issues that resulted in erratic automatic screen touches and ultimately soft-reboots.
Restoring a backup to SCHIZOID's 4.2.2 ROM worked fine to restore all functionality, but I couldn't help but think that I was still doing something wrong.
I got a hold of a normal TP (WiFi only model) and tried your latest 1-10-2014 Evervolv 4.0.0p1 ROM and was amazed to see that it was working great including WiFi (although 5GHz APs don't seem to scan as reliably as the past kernel) aside from the known issues. I tried the exact same install process on my TP 4G again just to see if anything changed, but unfortunately WiFi still wouldn't toggle and the orientation sensor behavior exhibited the same opposite landscape behavior as Invisiblek and JCSullins' ROMs.
I had thought that aside from the 3G HSPA modem in the TP 4G model chipset-wise it would be identical to the WiFi-only model so kernel 3.X developments would be complimentary across all TP devices. Unfortunately this doesn't appear to be the case and I hope with time you guys are able to work out any compatibility with the 4G model to benefit from the already terrific development that's going on with the 3.X kernel now.
I admire your guys' skills and look forward to all the improvements in store!
PS: I'd be more than happy to beta test anything you guys feel would address any compatibility issues on the TP 4G!
If we flash your twrp will it remove cwm or add another entry? I've never been able to have two recoveries working. I would much rather not have to use the power button and what not all the time in cwm but want to make sure I'm covered if something goes wrong. Thanks

Due to the limit of the boot directory it will remove all recoveries before installing this one.

Sorry for the Nube question I've searched and I'm sure it's been answered already....
So I got my touchpad with ClockworkMod Recovery version 6.0.1.9 can I flash the TWRP SE data/media recovery from there? Trying with the acme installer 5ET has failed.
I do have the original 4.4 Evervolv up and running and my partitions have been updated.
Thanks

So I replaced the ulimage in the boot directory and was able to install the 1/10/14 rom. So I guess I needed to search and just try a little more.
anyway -- I think it's a little slower than the first 4.4 version.... Maybe I need to reboot.... thoughts?

Both using same cpu settings? Although with more things implemented it could seem slower.
