[Q] Adding RAM - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When Defy's 512MB RAM is not enough one may think of replacing it with newer model, but what if...
Suppose that:
1. TI's OMAP3610 can handle >512MB of RAM (seems reasonable)
2. A29 address line track is present on PCB (could be; it would require disassembling Defy, desoldering RAM IC and checking)
3. There's a way to alter amount of RAM that is seen by Android (how to do it?)
If all of the above could be achieved then it would mean we could expand Defy's RAM by replacing RAM IC and introducing some changes to the Android (kernel I guess).
What do you think?
EDIT:
1. Is true according to "OMAP36xx Multimedia Device Silicon Revision 1.0" (SWPU177B)
SDRAM controller (SDRC):
– Mobile single data rate (M-SDR) SDRAM and low-power double data rate (LPDDR) SDRAM
– 16-bit or 32-bit data, two chip-selects, configurations for a maximum of 1-GB address space per chip-select
The problem may be the SDRAM may be stacked on the OMAP's top.
The device includes two external memory interfaces supporting the stacking of a multichip memory
package using the generic POP interface.
It must be checked. All we need to know at the point would be to get some broken Defy, disassemble it and see if the SDRAM is separate or stacked. If separate then too desolder it and check if the address line was routed.

internal GPS Module 4 Prophet

Does anybody know of a WORKING internal GPS Module for the Prophet ? I'm talking about SDIO at most, but preferably some kind of internal extension board. I'm guessing everybody has had enough with carying around a bulky bluetooth gps receiver.
ya! that would be very nice...
No such thing, and not going to happen.
I am not quite sure about SDIO (though I never hear of one) but there is no such thing as "internal extension cards" for Prophet or any other WM device.
Their mother boards come as a closed unit and there are no connectors / slots for any hardware other then what is in the specs.
This is not a PC and the OEM never attended for people to take these things apart.
sdio
the wifi nic for the prophet is actually a SDIO extension board. not as in a physical board per say but as in the way it interfaces with the pda mb. the sd slot for the prophet i know that it is sdio compatible, what i don't know is if it supports the standard necessary for this one, for instance: http://www.globalsat.com.tw/eng/product_detail_00000053.htm
Actually the problem with that model is not the standard - they stated SDIO so no reason it wouldn't work, except they don't claim to support WM 5.
GPS basically throws ASCII strings to a serial port, but a card using SDIO would probably need a driver to be properly recognized by the OS and WM 2003 driver is more than likely not to work for WM 5.
On a side note: it is considerate of them to provide memory to replace the storage card who's place they are taking. (though this will create a problem with nav apps that lock on SD serial).

Tablet that looks similar

My niece has just got a tablet for her birthday but has no flash support which she wants to access certain game websites.
has anyone managed to install it on there ideos? its seem to be similar to the one she has. The spec on hers is:

if not are there any custom roms to get 2.2 on this device then i can just get it from the market?
Many thanks in advance!

how to detect fake memory cards... admin, pls delete this thread, its a duplicate.

INTRODUCTION
Losing vital documents is one of the most painful ordeal someone could go through in life. It is even worse if the data belong to a third party. Yet it is unimaginable if it belong to the organization where one works.
I once lost very vital documents and accused someone wrongly due to fake memory card. This led to this research with the aim to serve as a guide on how to separate the good from the bad memory cards.
OMOROGHOMWAN'S INTEGRITY TESTS PROCEDURE FOR DATA STORAGE DEVICES
Insert your portable memory device into a computer or phone to see the usable space.
Let the usable (writable) memory be Y.
lt is a known fact that this value is always less than the specified size. This is due to the fact that the memory device will need some of the memory space for its internal operations (this is its read only memory - ROM).
Let the specified Memory size be X
IF X/1.024≈Y - - - - - 1
THEN the data storage device is fake.
On the other hand;
IF X/1.083≈Y - - - - - 2
THEN the data storage device is original.
Combination of equations 1 and 2 is known as Omoroghomwan's Hard Drive Integrity Tests.
FIELD SAMPLES
Table 1. below shows the relative differences in the writable memories of fake and authentic memory devices.
Table l. Authentic and fake data storage device capacities.
S/N Specified Authentic Writable Authentic Fake Writable Memory,
Memory, X (GB) Memory, Ya(GB) (X/1.083) Memory Disk Samples (GB) Yf (GB) (X/1.024)
1 1 0.923 0.93, 0.9476 0.98
2 2 1.846 1.8817, 1.876, 1.8 1.95
3 4 3.693 3.6, 3.7 3.9
4 8 7.386 7.27, 7.38 7.8
5 16 14.773 14.83 15.6
6 32 29.547 29.5 31.3
7 64 59.095 59.45 62.5
CONCLUSION
It is no longer news that the market is already contaminated with fake memory cards and flash drives carrying false data sizes. We are better equipped to avoid the trauma that follows such harrowing experience with the information in this write up.
RECOMMENDATIONS
From experience, it has been observed that memory devices of higher capacities (from 8GB) are more prone to counterfeiting. It is therefore recommended that any buyer of such should be vigilant and perform the outlined tests at the point of purchase either with a mobile phone or a computer in order to ascertain the integrity of the external memory device.

Unique Devices

I have two Special prototype handheld's with different firmware and software but the hardware's identical, is there away to make a backup of the internal drive to be used as a backup and flash onto both systems. Is there away to do a full system backup and recovery install?
They are prototypes that have been discontinued and sold. I would like to make a backup of the internals before playing around with the hardware. They are running Windows CE 4.2 (so windows mobile 2003 SE)
I was able to get them to boot and they run like normal. definitely the most unique windows handheld ever made.
Of course no manufacture support is available for this device. Basically they don't exist outside the military. Now sold as surplus.
I will update with Specs and Pics
CPU: XScale PXA255 400 Mhz
SD Ram: 90 MB
2 Drives: 1 Flash and 1 SD Ram drive
OS: Windows CE 4.2
Communication: PCMCIA Mesh Network Cards
