Just to let everyone know that the new latest Youtube app V 4.2.16 is out which brings a whole new design for 10 inch tablets, however there seems to be a problem for us Asus transformer users: When using the keyboard dock we loose the ability to play video in full screen. When the tablet is undocked it works fine.
I think everyone should provide feedback or a bug report to google so that they are aware of the problem and release an updated version with a patch (hopefully sometime soon)

I can't seem to log in. Everytime I try to sign in it tells me "an error has occured". I tried uninstalling, clearing cach, clearing data, and still nada. I'm using BlackBean #6 rom update.
Idd, there seem to be some problems with this update, I have no fullscreen button
when docked on my TF101 TF300 and TF700 and read some reports of Xoom owners
that don't have the button even without docking.
I'm going back to the previous version.
I've read a few posts from people with other devices who say as soon as they dock it they loose the ability to watch full screen. Seems like it's not just limited to Asus transformers

Without full screen button, it is impossible to do it with non-touchscreen device and without rotation sensor ...
It is a generic problem for all android device ...
Google have to fixe / add bouton like in the previous version !!!
The new YouTube UI is terrible! A major downgrade and uglier...
The fonts got bigger and many options are removed from the screen. Less video thumbnails fit now (less than half) compared to the previous carousel wall.
It's like a 'Youtube for grandma' edition. I urge you to keep a backup of the previous YouTube before you update.
Arrghhh. I had YouTube set to auto update. Who could've known YouTube would break it!!! I'm on a TF101 with a dock and the full screen button disappears, as soon as I dock....
Stupid Google. The 3D interface was also light years ahead of this new "upgraded" look.
Everything's getting crippled and dumbed down these days.....
Lets just make HUGE buttons and just that say something like: "U PUSH, I PLAY". "PUSH SEE", "PUSH ME", etc....:silly:
Same problem here. Since the last update, there is no full screen button, which is reeeeaaallyy annoying. Can anyone share the .apk file of the older version for downgrade?

And how can I downgrade. I don't have root.
I know I can "uninstall updates" but that will go back to the stock factory Asus version.

BTW Nooktablet, You can uninstall updates to take it back to the factory Asus version then download that version to your tablet, Go to settings and security, make sure the ability to install non-market applications is checked, and then run the .apk on your device, I just did this on my TF101 and it worked flawlessly (And its still stock)

Version 4.3.9 released on Feb 22, 2013 fixes the full screen button bug
Tried after updating my TF300 with the keyboard dock and the button now appears and works fine
Release Notes for 4.3.9 explicitly indicates the fix:
What's in this version:
* Use your Google+ profile on YouTube
* Control TV playback directly from the notification bar
* Fullscreen button bug fixed
(Sorry XDA won't let me post links to 4.3.9 since I am still a Noob)
Enjoy!

Asus, if you are reading this, please get rid of the warning we get everything time we dock - "ASUS Keyboard is not selected, Change to ASUS keyboard to keep consistency with hardware keyboard".
I like the Android keyboard because it has the normal keyboard layout and I can touch type better. However, it is very annoying to receive the warning message EVERY SINGLE TIME I dock. There should an option to stop is message from displaying every time time. Better yet, have it automatically switch to Asus keyboard when docked.

totally agree!
and also fix the "Auto-replace", "Auto-capitalization" and "Auto-punctuate" so that that it actually replace, capitalize and punctuates. Oh an while they're at it, fix the dock drain!
I'm soooo close to 100% happy its not funny. So happy that I've even converted about 5 Ipad sales to transformer sales!
I agree with this also , its very annoying to get this message. Maybe there's a dev out there that can figure this out for us...if its even possible to get rid of?

Although the constant reminder is an extra tap and is certainly annoying, it's a good tip nonetheless. I've been using the Swiftkey beta, and it has a bug where it won't stop auto-correcting with the physical keyboard attached, which makes typing a bear. So, I do need to switch to another keyboard every time anyways.
What I'd find much more useful is an option in the settings to automatically switch to the Asus keyboard (or another) when attaching the dock.

This. Or better still, to set the keyboard on a per-program basis. For example, I prefer the stock Asus soft keyboard most of the time, but it's nearly unusable in Splashtop because it doesn't send keystrokes to the remote PC immediately, only when entire words are completed. Hence I far prefer the stock Honeycomb keyboard in Splashtop, which sends every letter immediately.
If you go to the latest Prime rom and plug in the keyboard dock there is a little checkbox you can check so that it doesn't show that message anymore
Cool, shame we have to go to third party firmware and potentially lose our warranty coverage to get the fix. Hopefully Asus can look at improving this in the stock firmware...
I never get it. of course I use the Asus version of the keyboard when on the tablet only. Think it might have to do with using other versions of a keyboard and it having incompatibilities with the dock keyboard? ...go figure...

Rumor has it that Asus did notice and react to posts in this forum -

I'm not experiencing the
issue listed above. I use hacker's keyboard as a touch keyboard and have a B60 dock.
All I get is an alert that the dock has been connected and to press okay. Is that what you are talking about? I never actually have to change to ASUS keyboard or anything like that.
Only way to get rid of atm is using Prime 1.5 (has this "Do not show this again" option when it comes up), or root and disable IME change event on ASUS keyboard.

It just doesn't bother me as much as keyboard lag in browser, speaker issue, better battery in standby when leaving wifi on, quality control, shortcut to last app on keyboard, i.e alt+tab, etc.
So if I were to complain, I would complain about those first than just a warning. No gadget is 100% perfect so the warning, while annoying, is something I can deal with.

It's probably also a much easier fix, because it's not a bug -- so there's no need to try and replicate a problem, isolate where it's going off the rails, and fix it.
It's most likely a matter of 5-10 minutes work for a programmer somewhere to add the option to squelch the warning.
Welcome to my thread with bug fixes, problem fixes and just fixes!
What if we make a thread with known bugs, and known ways that will fix them, even if the fix is just temporary? Would be a great place to look up your problems. None of the fixes so far will make the problem go away, it's just a hot-fix that will work until Asus release the real deal.

#01 Compass Errors
[BUG #01-1] Tablet shows an annoying popup with the title "Compass interference". This happens in applications which use the compass. (E.g.: Google Maps)
[Since] HC 3.2 update.
[Temp Fix] Fixed this problem by installing the "Compass" application from the market. When you start the application for the first time it asks you to calibrate the compass by moving your tablet in a figure eight. When successfully calibrated the message box will disappear. After calibration users report that the error isn't showing anymore.

#02 Default Programs
[BUG #02-1] My "Choose default program to open file/link/whatever with"-screen is not showing. Screen just dims and sits there.
[Since] HC 3.2 update.
[Temp Fix] Make sure screen auto-rotation is on. Rotate screen. Rotate back. They are now showing. When rotating, the launcher is restarted. Same thing if you re-dock your device. Rotation will NOT fix this if you are in a program that you can not rotate ofc.
#03 Keyboard, hard and soft keys
[BUG #03-1] Hard keyboard mapping is not working correctly after docking my Transformer.
[Since] HC 3.2 update. Aug 2nd.
[Temp Fix] Undock your transformer, select ASUS EEEPAD software keyboard, (possibly reboot for it take proper effect) and re-dock your Transformer. Hard keyboard should now be mapped correctly.
[BUG #3-2] (Software) Keyboard lag in stock browser is killing me.
[Since] Forever. Android 3.0.
Temp Fix] Use a custom keyboard. Thumb Keyboard 4 did the trick for me. Some say Hacker's Keyboard made it better.
#04 Wi-Fi Problems
[BUG #04-1] Wi-Fi is disconnecting, and won't auto reconnect or reconnect at all.
[Since] HC 3.2 update.
[Temp Fix] Assign a Static IP to your TF, it will solve the connection problem.

#06 Browser
[BUG #06-1] Is there a setting that will show the standard version of a web site instead of the mobile version?
[Since] 3.0
[Temp Fix] Open Browser > Settings > Advanced > User Agent String > Change to Desktop.
Thanks to stujuk for this.
.
great idea! i was thinking of the same myself. we badly need all this info in one place. may i suggest that you keep the 1st post updated with all the bugs and fixes rather than having them distributed throughout a 50 page thread. also identify the specific OTA update that introduced each bug so that members can make a decision whether it might be better for them to pass on certain updates which might cause problems for them.

At least we got it started. Will work more on the first post, and will keep it up to date

OK here's another one
- only if the ASUS EEEPAD (soft)keyboard is selected when in tablet mode then when docked the correct layout of the keyboard dock will work. If you select the Android (soft) keyboard when in tablet mode, and then dock it - the tablet informs you the hard keyboard will be in use (as expected) and start typing: some keys are wrongly mapped, for example @ and " are inverted. If think this only started to happen with the most recent August 2nd HC update
[FIX] - remove the dock, select Asus eepad as software keyboard, possibly reboot (I had to reboot on mine for the change to take place) then attach the dock and the @ and " keys work as expected.
It is very annoying and it took me a while to understand what was going on but someone reported it earlier in one of the other forum
"Compass interference" popup
[BUG #01]
After updating the Asus Transformer to Android 3.2 the tablet shows an annoying popup with the title "Compass interference". This happens in applications which use the compass. ( E.g.: Google Maps )
[FIX]
I fixed this problem by installing the "Compass" application from the market. When you start the application for the first time it asks you to calibrate the compass by moving your tablet in a figure eight. When succesfully callibrated the messagebox will disappear.
Since the calibration i have not seen the annoying pop-up in any application.
Problem: Massive keyboard lag in browser when typing.
Solution: None yet.
Maybe I'm posting in the wrong forum so forgive me.
I just can't understand why there is no quick way besides force close or stop action in manage applications to just shut down a process that is running, especially the warning you get when you want to close them. The only way to completely free up resources after a weeks use is to shut down/restart. I know and have read this HC was designed for mulitasking but I notice a definite lack of snappyness / more battery drain when I have the tab on for a week and the processes start racking up. For instance: maps shows 8 meg usage, well when i'm done using maps or (email--17meg) or anything else I would like to free up those resources for battery life and snappyness of the operating system. Also, next to home button it shows what windows you currently have visisted or open, why can't there be an (X) in the upper right hand corner of each window to shut those down. Yes, I have dloaded and tried (appkiller) from the market but it gave me several errors after I installed it so I uninstalled it. I am truly excited and overjoyed with this device and I am confident that these and the other bugs will be continually improved with HC op syst, especially with this great XDA forum avenue we have!
bug: gallery fc on spesific image
tempfix: use quickpic
Surely the best cure here is preventative medicine!
When the original transformer android 3.0 was released is was pretty much perfect, 3.1 did absolutely nothing, and 3.2 (which i haven't installed) screwed it up totally.
Wouldn't be surprised if Asus came on here and said they released the 3.2 update before carrying out any testing at all (purely for bragging rights over other manufacturers!) because if they did why are there all these problems?
I personally FOFLAO when people go on about ICS and how they 'can't wait'

Sorry it must be different then. mine goes out of synch and a second set of sound plays, I then do the pause and restart and everything is OK for a while. Repeat about 5 mins later

A couple of my apps that invoke the popup to either go to the Gallery or File Explorer, the popup would never show. Like in Folder Organizer when you go to change an icon of an app it wouldn't invoke the popup for the Gallery.
Thanks to your solution I can now proceed. Unfortunately, I already sent an email to the dev and he's probably thinking I've lost my mind or something.

"Full screen" in the sense that the system bar goes into low-profile mode (buttons and clock turn into dots), yes.
Actual "full screen" where the system bar is actually hidden should come with ICS. Until then, we live with low-profile. Which is better than nothing lol
Works on all my other devices, but I too get stuck on the loading screen on my Xoom with the latest Tiamat rom. I had to revert back to the previous version I was using, which works without a hitch. I have had this issue on Netflix on the xoom for a long time, very annoying, even after updating it.
However, with this latest update, it actually allowed me to update it via the market. After that, no longer get the update nags, but, they will probably come back come next revision....
Shouldn't come back. Per the Market update notes, the app officially suppports all Android 3.0 / Honeycomb devices.
If you previously side loaded the special sdk from another post on this site, you don't need to uninstall it. When you get the nag screen to update, just do so and this time the update will work.
Same loading red screen here, it was working with the last 1.4 version, but the new one ave sub and languages choice.... key for me, if I want to see movies in original languages and to to suffer Spanish translation here in Chile
Ok anyone figure this out yet... I am running Rogue Kernel 1.3 myself. Is it only purely stock Xoom's that have no issue?
I can open the app, login in and see all the movies and series.
When I try to play any movie, I got an error "sorry we could not reach the netflix service" (1004)..
I am using the stock 3.2.1 US (unlocked and flashes, orig was a mz604 brazil).
Maybe it's because I'm rooted?
Fail :'(
make sure you guys upgrade to the latest tiamat version
it wasnt working for me on 2.1 it would just show the splash screen with the hour glass
i upgraded to 2.2 moray and netflix works perfectly
no more lag in the menu
Confirmed, the Moray 2.2.2 do the trick if you are stuck at the loading screen
I'm on Moray 2.2.2, and still stuck on loading screen.
I've also tried downgrading to netflix 1.4.1 bld 262, which used to work, but it too sticks on the loading screen.
I'll keep messing with it though.

I've had this for a week now
Its caused a reboot loop at first, I think due to clockwork mod, I had to re-flash factory 3.01 then upgrade ota to 3.1 then 3.2 then a small update - not sure what that did, what i can say is that I don't seem to have root any more, the su app is there but it doesn't work.
Battery life seems better, but the entire thing seems very sluggish compared to my SGS2.

To be honest I can't remember the contrast of 3.1, so I can't tell...
Anyone confirm this please.

For me the update worked fine. The first boot took about 5-6 minutes and then as normal (I could actually say a little bit faster)
Maybe they somehow blocked your root access and you have to unroot and reroot again.
The new update is NOT a google update. It came through motorola, so they could have changed some things about updated rooted devices.
I can't tell as I am not rooted. Sorry
Someone else can confirm USB Host for pen drive works or doesn't work (3.2, non rooted)?

Not working I'm afraid, tried thumb drive and connecting my Nokia N9 as data drive two, nothing came up in storage menu, and nothing in file manager.
Mine is 100% stock, no root or anything.
Well... after deliberating a lot about doing so I decided to download the MotoDev image for the UK Xoom 3G, install the SDK etc and do a full reset of the unit.... then it did THREE updates (as the MotoDev image is of 3.01! Talk about not up to date!)... Anyway I am now running on 3.2, card recognised etc. Everything working hunky dory. There must have been something interfering with it. The Xoom actually feels quite a bit punchier now too - not sure if that's 3.2 or the reflash! LOL

Ooh... just found something new!
'Dock Mode' like my HP Touchpad had.... pop it in your speaker dock (maybe standard dock too) and it asks for a default program top run. Plus it remembers which dock it's in and will launch a different program for each dock! COOL!

Look at this in Market:
USB Mass Storage Watcher OTG
Try it and let me know what do you think. Thanks
Bookmarks may not synchronize with Google Chrome
I think this is something that has been broken in 3.1 already...
Ok, I got my OTG cable and after connecting a flash drive, nothing happened. Although when you connect a mouse or a keyboard, both of them work fine.
So, it depends on the pendrive's connectivity. If it requires usb host capability, then it won't work. If it requires just a normal usb slot, without having host capabilities (just how a mouse works), then it will work.
i have update my xoom 3g to android 3.2 but now the 3g doesn't work.....can i go back to 3.1 ( my xoom is not rooted) ?? What can i do for solve my problem? Can i reupdate the 3.2? Please help me!
Problem #1: lack of hotkeys. Control T, Control F, etc do not work.
Problem #2: "Shift + c" is mapped to "backspace", and "Shift + b" is bound to enter. The only way to type a capital C or B in Chrome is to hit the key twice in rapid succession, which first causes a backspace/enter, then types the letter.
If you all could so kindly go into Chrome, go to settings, click Under The Hood, click Send Feedback, and write off a quick description of the problem to Google, let's try to get them to fix it. Google's support is typically pretty lackluster, and it generally takes many people acknowledging and reporting a problem to get it fixed!
I'm still god damn floored by how awesome Chrome is. JSNES (NES emulator written in JavaScript) runs at 25 FPS in Super Mario Bros. That benchmark alone gets me a little hard, as my old notebook doesn't even handle it that well. But with the above two problems, it's kinda annoying to use it, especially the lack of control T to open new tab as that's just become instinctual over the past 8 years.

Huh...I can't reproduce the issue on mine (Shift-B and Shift-C work fine). No CTRL+T or CTRL+F, but the cut/copy/paste shortcut keys work fine.

I'm not familiar with JSNES, what's it do in the old browser? I ask because on a completely stock, just-wiped US TF101 running ICS, I get a slightly (but outside margin of error) *worse* Javascript score in the Chrome beta, than I do with the stock browser. I also find the scrolling lag on Chrome beta to be awful -- the stock browser is orders of magnitude better.
I want to like Chome, and I'm sure I will eventually when the bugs are worked out, but so far it isn't usable for my purposes.
Perhaps related to the scrolling thing, I also noticed if I check chrome://gpu-internals/ that I get "WebGL: Unavailable. Hardware acceleration disabled." and "Problems detected. WebGL has been disabled, either via about:flags or command line."
Edit: No, not related. Just googled and now know WebGL's for 3D graphics.

Where did you try it? It only occurs in text boxes within the actual page. In the URL bar and other places, Shift C/B work fine, but if you try to respond to this post in Chrome and use shift C, it should backspace. It also makes capital C and B impossible to enter in password fields -- really annoying.

It ran fine in the HC browser, just slow. To be fair I checked it in ICS browser and it gets the same FPS as Chrome, glad to know stock ICS browser is just as capable, but it doesn't handle the actual page anywhere near as well as Chrome does, for ex it cannot hook the keys to get keyboard input like Chrome does. I suspect Chrome's compatibility far surpasses that of the stock browser, perhaps costing it a bit of performance in benchmarks?
Haven't really had any scrolling issues whatsoever.

Well, to be equally fair in return, it was only a very slight difference in benchmark, and it was just one benchmark -- Sunspider -- I didn't try any others.

Interesting. Pretty-much any long web page (say, Engadget or similar), if I load the page, let it finish loading, then swipe my finger across the screen to scroll, I'm instantly into a white page until I stop scrolling, or at the very least I get significant stuttering. With the stock browser, the same trick gives me a perfect preview of the fast scroll, so I can stop it in the right place with a tap of my finger.
Even when scrolling slowly, Chrome is noticeably stuttery for me, nowhere near as smooth as the stock browser's scrolling.

Yep. I concur... The shift c, b is a pain in the ass. Also having the lagging problems.
Anyway, i'm back to stock browser.

Well, I'm using the hardware keyboard to type this reply -- BBBBCCCCCBCBCBC -- and I used it to login here and a number of other places. I'd say that no, I really can't reproduce it, whether the Asus, Android, or Swype virtual keyboard is enabled along with the hardware keyboard.

Interesting. Lates t version of chrome from the market? What region ICS version? What version dock? You are doing this in CHROME, right? It's affecting a lot of us, interesting that it works for some. The same problem even occurs on the TF Prime. You spamming the keys doesn't really show that it's working though, as if you hold shift and hit "c" twice, it will backspace once then type out C, but when you press down shift, hit c, then let go of shift, it only does a backspace.

US region ICS, dock version EP101-0213. Yes, this is the latest Chrome Beta from the market. Yes, I'm actually using the hardware keyboard, and yes I'm actually typing this through Chrome. The keyboard spam was for effect - if you read my post you would have noticed I also said that I had used the above to login in to different places (the problem doesn't happen text inputs, text areas, or password inputs). Yes, other people are having the issue, but I'm not.
If you're interested, I did a clean install of the official .21 HC firmware (with a wipe), then did the OTA update and wiped it again before rooting it.
Hadn't actually tried it myself, so here's a fourth (fifth? forget how many replies we've had...) opinion:
* Ctrl-T, Ctrl-F, Ctrl-N: Do not work
* C and B type just fine for me on the first try, by holding down shift and typing the letter on the physical keyboard, in Chrome. That's how I just did it, in this post. No backspace, no enter for either combination.
I have a B60 dock with EP101-0213, a just-wiped, unrooted, stock ICS US build, and although I'm using the physical keyboard to type the whole of this post, I'm set to the stock ICS soft keyboard, not Asus' modified one.
I, too, did a double-wipe, once before updating and once after ICS was installed.
I can only reproduce this when I have the ASUS keyboard selected. Using the normal Android one it's not reproducable.
So, that's a workaround if anything.

Just tested that myself: yes, Shift-C and Shift-B don't work when the Asus soft keyboard is selected.
This is an Asus problem, not a Google problem.

Interesting, this does fix it for me now, even though I had tried it previously. It makes me wonder, what "compatibility" does ASUS speak of when you get the warning message using stock ICS keyboard with the dock? Thinking back to when I was using thumb keyboard on HC, I never noticed any issues not having the ASUS keyboard enabled.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Beats me, I've yet to find any slight incompatibility between the physical keyboard and the stock ICS keyboard. I wonder if they're not suggesting an incompatibility with the stock one, but rather practicing CYA with respect to all the other third-party keyboards on the market?
Does the ASUS keyboard need to be used only if you want access to all of the hotkeys on the dock (Transformer Prime)? Or is there any other reason not to switch over to the standard keyboard to avoid the SHIFT-C bug?
There is something specifically related to Chrome here. The standard browser has no problem with SHIFT-C or B using the dock w/ASUS keyboard selected. Chrome is the only application I have found that has this problem.

Can't speak to the Prime, but with the TF101, the hotkeys work just fine regardless of which soft keyboard you're using, the Asus one or the stock one. Just tested, I don't use the Asus one, I'm on the stock ICS keyboard but I just tested and absolutely every hotkey works correctly regardless.
The only problem I've encountered is that special characters specific for your language will not work properly. Or in my case, åäö. You can still do capital Bs and Cs - just click B and C again after typing it and it should pop. Fiddly as hell, but I'm sure if enough users report it something will be done.
Bloody' ell, the Asus keyboard isn't exactly a thing of dreams.

Interesting, so for native English speakers, there's basically no reason to use the Asus soft keyboard then. Unless for some strange reason you like it, that is.
