Does anyone else suffer from music skipping and stuttering while browsing our using pulse? At first I thought it might be because I was streaming from Google music but the problem persists even when playing music from my device. I'm running the latest paranoid android build with the faux kernel. Any suggestions?

I had that same problem. I love PA and used it as my daily driver for a long time. Than I started having that audio problem while playing my audio books. I found this extremely annoying and unacceptable. I am finally pop and click free running PerfectRom 2.1
I would of thought the stuttering is from the browser using too much system resources leaving the music player wanting.

When playing music via PowerAmp, and then going into Google Talk the music cuts off. It will play fine until I enter Google Talk and then it will shut off and I'll have to go into it and restart the song I was listening to.
I've also noticed that when listening to music in the stock music player my music will randomly stop as well. I never had any issues until I flashed Xtreme kernal a few days ago and now I cant listen to music consistently. And that is very important to me.
Is anyone else having this issue? If it turns out to be an issue with the way my phone is responding to the kernal, how do I go about flashing back to the stock kernal?
I had similar issues with every music player I tried just stopping randomly. I thought it was Syndicate ROM, as I was getting the same problems with both Extreme Kernel and Phoenix Kernel. I assumed I just had a bad install somehow since no one else in the ROM thread seem to have that problem when I posted about it. However, music players have been working fine on the various Froyo builds I've tried, so I quit worrying about it and didn't really do any thorough testing.
Whether it's poweramp, default android music player or any other player my songs starts jerking and skipping and it sounds like pirated copy of cds. Anyone have the same issue as me? Any work around?
I can't report the same, 2nd day of having the GB update and no sound skipping so far. Do you have this issue with all mp3 files or just a few?
this happen to many ppl :/
I thought it was just me
Mine has the exact same skipin I just hv meridian player on mine
Hopin to see a fix soon
Yeah, it's been discussed in a few other threads. It seems to be a pretty common issue with this build of GB on the X10.
I get this issue with the stock, unrooted room and WB's rom with hotfix 005. The audio players I've tested this with so far are the following: SE music app, Google's music app, TuneIn Pro, Pandora. I'll try Winamp and poweramp later... a larger cache should help but it's a bandage on an underlying problem.
A few people have said that the problem goes away when connected via bluetooth.
If you mean the "lag" that occurs when you rotate your phone then yeap, that's there. I thought you meant that songs skip from 0:30 to let's say 0:40 randomly.
The entire song
And if am usin my bluetooth headset it skips for a second like streamin was poor
Then wired headset its so obvious

Hello everyone !
So, I posted this on the distortion/crackling post but it seems it's a different problem, so I'd like to know if other Galaxy S4 users are experiencing the same thing.
The problem :
I experience stuttering in music, it skips some like a fraction of second of the song I'm listening to. It happens even if I'm not navigating through the phone (screen off).
Also, I experience music skipping with the stock player AND with Player Pro when playing FLAC tunes.
I don't seem to have distortion problems though.
The phone : Galaxy S4, I-9505, non rooted, barely have any apps installed (I got it last week and I'm not an app fanatic). I play music from the internal storage, not sdram.
What I've tried :
- Clearing RAM - doesn't particularly help, I it seems it stutters when the background stuff comes back (I have more stuttering for a while right after clearing RAM).
- Tried Power Amp - I seem to have less stuttering, but it's still quite present.
- Tried playing music without headphones - I seem to have less frequent stutters, but it still happens.
- Tried Player Pro - still stutters and I also have song skipping with FLAC.
Anyone knows where's this stuttering coming from ? And how to fix it ?
Thanks !
So, I tested some more and I get no stuttering when playing on speakers with Player Pro.
Anyone have an issue where songs just randomly jump whilst playing? It doesnt matter which codec or player I use, songs will just jump or skip whilst playing. However playing the same tracks on my iPod Touch 4G results in no problems. Is this just a thing with Android in general and is there something I can do to fix it?
I've had this problem when listening via stereo Bluetooth. I don't listen using wired headphones so if that's how you're listening to your music I can't compare. Just out of interest, is your music on internal memory of 'external' microSD card?

My headphones are wired and music is on the internal memory. What's weird is that the only player I've found that seems to work properly is MX Player switched to allow music and hardware decoding enabled. Problem though is that it doesn't support gapless playback which I need.
Think I may have fixed my issue. Rooted my device and installed CPU Adjuster to setup a profile so that whenever Poweramp is active, my Tegra is to use the Ondemand CPU governor. So far Ive not had any jumps or skips in music. Quite weird why Ive had to resort to this just to get music to play properly, but at least it seems to be working for now.

Perhaps there's a problem with the way the kernel switches between the companion core and the four main cores. Perhaps periodically when playing music and doing other background tasks the fifth core isn't enough, or the frequency of it isn't ramped up quickly enough. Sounds like Nvidia boobed up
Does anyone else get music lag when playing music with Google Play Music or others? Its very annoying and it doesn't happen when I'm using earphone's or headphone's.

Yes, though I'm usually listening via stereo Bluetooth.

brilliant. since I am rooted, as well, I gave this idea a go and it worked, perfectly. I'll see if it holds up over the next week or so, but so far, it's completely eliminated the audio problem I was having in Google Play Music. Cheers!
Hi.
I just installed the latest Mahdi ROM and I am now facing weird sound issues in Spotify and Rdio. It sounds like some beeps or dial-tones while playing music. But they seem to happen very randomly. First I thought it was only while streaming and only in spotify, but it happens with downloaded music there also and in Rdio it happens, too. On the other hand I haven't noticed it happen in Soundcloud and Deezer.
Any ideas what might be the reason?
Cheers,
nostalgix.
