How's everyone's battery life? My Nexus 4 loses about 3% a minute on 4G...
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Depends on how much I use the phone. I've gone 36 hours without a charge but that was a slow day of use for me.
Under extreme use, I've charged 2 times in a day lol. That quad core can really suck up the poower

I've only used it for 8 minutes and the battery has gone down 3%. I'm on 4.2

Well, you still got 97% >_>'
Do you really think that the battery would drain intense after such a small drop? This isn't crazy.

That gives you 4.5 hrs of use until it gets to 0%. So depending on what you are doing maybe that's actually OK. Post back once it hits 0% with the actual screen on time.

I honestly think one of Google's competitors is funding some of these ad hominem attacks.

Referencing the Nexus 7 Guidebook, the claim is not 9 hours, but rather up to 8 hours of active use. As with any consumer electronics, that represents optimal conditions. Your screen brightness setting, what you, really doing, etc, are amongst the many variables that will affect battery drain. Having the screen on full bright is with white backgrounds is going to drain a battery exponentially faster than low brightness with darker images.

Anyone else noticing that the battery percentage goes down incredibly fast when screen is on ?
I've never ever seen a phone go down so fast and I've had the note

i've actually been pleasantly surprised at the battery life on mine! Over two hours of screen time midway through my day yesterday and i was just above 60%
Have been advised to turn cell broadcast off
Supposed to save a bit if battery.

My advice, get Tasker to disable mobile data and WiFi when screen is off. Disable Google Now. Disable NFC. Disable GPS until you actually use it. Enjoy your 5+ hour screen on battery life.

exactly my thinking.
Why the hell does the Nexus consume soooo much battery ? I have turned most of the stuff off but you dont get any Google Now, emails etc dont work correctly, - totally useless.
My S2 is better than this.

I've literally watched the battery tick down every 2-3 minutes right before my very eyes doing absolutely nothing. Just had the screen on. SMH

I really want this phone at 3pm today but is the battery THAT bad? I thought they learned from the Galaxy Nexus.

yeah its worse than my Galaxy S2. - battery stats say its the screen but that's on auto and its already dim as hell. When off it consumes power if WiFi is on.

Hold up... So you're saying... Having the screen on... Which uses more battery than screen off drains the battery? :what:
My current ROM kernel combo is battery efficient

And? Most people don't seem to get this: Say your battery depletes 1% for every 3 minutes you have the screen on, that's 300 minutes, or 5 hours, of screen time. Which is more than acceptable.

Yeah def better than the gnex which was rather good too. I took my phone off of charge @ 7:20am and put it on charge when it had 4% left @ 1:30am. So pretty much lasted 18 hours with medium use.

What do you mean cell broadcast? Where is that?
my N4 is 1% per minute screen on
2% streaming video, that right, 40 minute netflix = 80% battery gone
NFC and cell broadcast off, gps off, screen at 50% brightness
Like a fool i sold my iPhone 5 and got the nexus 4 only to be having this issue FML

Hey guys, prospective owner here, want to know how people are finding the battery life after a few weeks of owning the phone now. And is there a likelihood we will see google patch it in the near future to fix some issues?
Mines pretty good and I usually get 4 hr screen time and like 17 hr on battery so yep not to bad I did about 3 charge cycles on it but yep.

Ah that's not too bad at all is that on stock rom and kernal? I would say I use aout 2-3 hours of screen on time in a day. Any experience with the Note 2? Having to chose between the two
I suggest checking the battery life thread

Hi guys I got my nexus 4 recently and does it have to go through a few battery cycles before the battery life improves? My battery life is less than mediocre right now..

Yes. If it doesn't improve, try installing a custom kernel.
Ya that's usually the case, I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and found the battery life to be better than expected off the bat, and it's been improving ever since.
Why is my battery time so bad I only get about 3 hours of sot and about 16 of battery life... Is my nexus 4 defected or is it just my set up? I am using PA 3.56 with the kernel it comes with, how good is your battery life? And should I get an RMA?

Flash Franco kernel milestone 2. I get 5 hours of screen on time.

3hrs sot is not bad for this phone.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
SOT is really subject to usage. With a lot of gaming, you could see 2 hours or less. Also has a lot to do with your signal if you're not on Wifi. 3 hours isn't bad, and doesn't necessarily mean there's something wrong with your phone or ROM. I've personally never gotten much more than that.

Agreed. No need to RMA, need to get another phone
People with much longer times don't use it as a smartphone, believe me!
Also, we can see that your signal reception isn't good, and that for sure will hit the battery time hard!
Stock, rooted, Franco kernel

This is why people worry about getting 3 hours SOT. No demanding apps... Can't see network signal.
