I have downloaded the nova launcher for the first time and love it but does it drain the battery for you guys?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
nope. I installed it pretty much right away so I can't compare to the stock launcher, but it doesn't seem to affect battery life at all.
it shouldn't effect battery much if at all, I haven't tried it yet but will be soon I figure. Is it showing up in your batt stats? (pic?)
Never drained my battery... Been using it since ICS.
Awesome launcher. Even includes a butt lifting design.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I'm new to Xda but not to droid forums.
I just wanted to say wow! What a difference between the two. People are talking about stuff for the droid x and I'm totally lost. That's awesome!!
Can someone point me to where I can get a few questions answered about CM9?

Thanks. That's where I got all my info before I switched to CM9. After week of using it, I'm switching back to stock. The main reason is because the battery life sucks even with all syncing off and touch sounds and a few other things done to try to conserve battery.
My battery was at 40% when I left work yesterday with only light Facebook and web browsing.
Also some apps not working very good on it is another reason I'm switching back.

ICS roms haven't been perfected yet, but if your looking for a good user experience with decent battery life, you should try DefX MIUI.

yeah, wizard's MIUI has been the best for awhile now in terms of great battery life and full functionality. i've tried the ICS roms out there for the droidx but battery life was abysmal. i like having the latest android system but not if you have to trade great battery life for poor battery life.
I am running cm9 with a build date of April 24th (build number: IMM76D).
And i love it. It is super fast. the only complaint i have is that when long pressing home to get to the recent apps list it takes about 1-2 secs. Other than that its great. everything works except video (sometimes) and panoramic shots. the battery life isnt too bad. but i have had bad battery problems for a while.
I've noticed on the battery monitor, Cell Standby has been draining some battery. I've read this has also plagued the GS3,any fix for my beloved N4? Btw I'm on Franco with Carbon ROM, Nova launcher as well.

Battery drain can be caused by many reasons. Download Better Battery Stats from the play store and find out more information.
It's possible something on your phone prevents it from going into deep sleep.

An alternative to BBS is Wakelock Detect. BTW, poor signal reception causes Cell Standby to suck out a lot of juice. Could you post a screenshot of your battery in settings?
Hi, i been noticing some battery drain after updating to 4.3 does anyone has this problem ?

Odd, mine seems to be a lot better battery wise since 4.3... You might want to use BetterBatteryStats to pinpoint the cause (maybe some wakelocks etc.)
Flash a custom kernel.
Yes, me too, battery seems worse than in 4.2.2. Or is it just because that I use it more now i.e. to restore apps etc?
Really? Oh no!!
I'm still waiting on my ota update

Im gonna go back to 4.1.2 because it has the best battery life which 4.2.2 and 4.3 doesnt have
me too. Really hoped android 4.3 fixed this problem ;(
been having this battery drain problem ever since 4.2.2
Do you guys have this drain problem in IDLE mode? because I do..
rough estimate, it drains like 7 to 8% in one hour when my device is in SLEEP mode..
But to all this, what apps or services seems to be draining the battery?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I don't know what your talk in about, I'm getting better battery life than I ever did before. I'm UV by 25 running faux kernel (u21), and clean ROM. I just removed all the gapps I don't use, and don't run anything that needs background syncing. Did you guys do clean installs(full flash via fastboot)?
I also turned off daydream which I am suspicious of, yet I have no proof that it does anything

Thats the problem, I hard factory resetted several times and leave it alone with no new apps
installed before.. disabled NFC, my mobile connection.. and still it drains like a leaky hose in idle mode..
some friendly ppl here suggested installing greenify and betterbatterystats and stuff..
but it doesnt really help me pinpoint whats doing the draining.. maybe because I am not sure what I am looking at..
end result, i even flashed (nearly bricked my nexus on several occasions too) and still the drain is there..
I thought my battery is dying or something.. but my nexus is barely 6 months old.. and battery status shows it as GOOD..
so yea, I am stumped..
Yeap.
I am having the same problem with the battery, the battery is spent very quickly, I have less applications installed and lately I have not used the phone to see if it was me and nothing. It may be because manually install the OTA?
Does the rule of waiting a few days/recharge cycles to get a true sense of the battery not apply to Nexus devices like it does to Samsung devices?

The initial battery drain after flashing can be attributed to apps conducting their first sync and the kernel "settling." This only takes a matter of hours at best. After that, one can get a fairly accurate idea of how their battery is being tasked.

i used to get horrible battery drain until I disabled google now.
I'm also experiencing severe battery drain after taking the 4.3 update on my stock, unrooted Nexus 7. It's been 3 days and no improvement.

I too face same problem, and the App sucking most of the battery is "Kernel (Android OS)", second one is "Launcher", "Phone" and "Android System".
Any suggestions solutions found for this battery issue?
Hello guys i know thats my first thread in xda and that tread maybe looks noobish to you but i wanted to ask how is your Battery life with the OTA 4.3 update on nexus 4 i personaly installed
the update with fastboot and factory image as soon as it got realesed and until then i havent charged it yet.I ve seen some vids on yt surfed the
net and played some nfs most wanted by the way the battery status now is at 10% So how is yours ?
Was on OTA update til acouple minutes and from what I could tell, I felt my battery life last longer compared to stock 4.2.2 and slightly less than Franco's

That is outstanding. But how in the world is it possible that you have a "screen on" state without being awake?
I have been fighting battery issues for so long now, I'd really like to get to something as good as what you get...
i get 5 hours on heavy use until i hit 10 % well my setup is in my signature on light use i am sure i can stretch it to 6 hours with brightness on auto and wifi is on most of the time
battery life is never going to be better for me unless i uv. the previous setup, i used cm 10.1.2 stable with matr1x kernel. i uv and set the max cpu to 1350. it was really really good. i can use the phone from 8am to 9pm.
now currently using aosp 4.3, the default setup battery life has improved a bit compared to 4.2.2 stock, but after semaphore kernel installed and uv a bit, even with max cpu at default which is 1.5ghz, battery life has been really great.

I've terrible battery usage after 4.3 update. I never had any issues before but now I get 20 to 30 percent drop during the night when before it was under 10 in the same scenario.
Android os Showing 6h usage...
Any help on sorting this out highly appreciated.
Battery life has increased a lot for me.
No heavy usage, I know. But still awesome compared to the stats I had when I bought my nexus 4

Just out of curiosity, are in you the US/North America?
I had the same issue of losing tons of battery to the OS overnight. I reflashed to an older version of the modem. Most of the people I have seen so far with these symptoms have been in France and India. Must be something about the cell services and how they interact with the phone.
@Calebz: I'm in Ireland.
I've restarted the phone since and the battery usage is back to normal, will see for how long.
Maybe you can look at this:

So, I'm back on android after a couple year hiatus...noticed that there is a SIGNIFICANT decrease in battery performance on the G2 when anything other than the stock launcher is used...anyone else notice this? My overall performance on stock is about 50% drain over a 12-14 hour day...on any other launcher...it plummets to 50% within a few hours..specifically idle screen drain I noticed takes a huge hit...you think disabling the knock knock feature on other launchers would help? Any help would be AWESOME.

Been using stock launcher for 3 weeks and switched to Nova Launcher for a week now.
I haven't noticed any differences between using these 2 launchers.
I jump between Stock and Apex and have had no battery issues.
Using action launcher and have used several kit Kat launchers, in addition to nova and apex, all have higher drain than stock launcher.
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
No difference using Nova. Have you looked in battery stats to see what's using your batter?
There are better apps that break down what app eats what. Better battery stats maybe.

Would up playing around a bit...no rhyme or reason...but EVERY third party launcher absolutely killed my battery...especially idle drain...killed off carrier iq as well. Went back to stock launcher, boom...back to a TOTAL of 6% battery drain over almost 7 hours with fairly good usage...I just don't get it...I'm on the AT&T g2.
