Is it possible to do a nandroid on stock partition table, then install repartition from Geno and then restore from that nandroid?
I don't think so but do a pinkscreen backup in case

Sorry for opening this old thread again, but im interested in getting the answer for this question aswell.
Im currently on the stock partition but i need more ROM space to install various mods, could i take a nandroid backup now and then install forumber2's partition and then restore it? Would it mess up something? Hoping for some expert to answer this!

Now, I haven't cared too much about Nandroid backups since nothing is too important for me to save, and I'm running a different ROM almost every day... But what do Nandroid backups backup ? Just the ROM? ROM and data + Kernel ? And If I do a full wipe and I have a Nandroid backup, do I have to Flash the ROM first, then flash the Nandroid over it? Or can I just full wipe and flash the nandroid?
Nandroid isn't something I use a lot (or at all), so this is kinda odd to me.
A nandroid backup is essentially an image of your entire phone. The entire OS, phonebook, messages, settings...everything.
Awesome, so I can just flash the nandroid right after a full wipe, correct?
Yep, absolutely. Just don't forget that only CWM 3.0.0.6 can flash and restore anything. The other versions are limited to Froyo or Gingerbread, not both.
Yeah I know, I flashed 3.0.0.6 the second i saw it did both ROMs, I haven't had a problem since ^_^ But thanks !
+2 to your Thanks Meter
Glad you got it worked out.
hi everyone
as the title said i just want to remove my cm7 from endless and restore my original gingerbread
i have a backup of my files/system but i don't know how to restore them
i have to flash the correct sbf file before or after restoring the system?
edit: i fell like an idiot, didn't see the topic for questions, can someone merge my question with it?
i think that you can use original SBF again to come back to original rom
i never test that, its a suposition
i think that too but i don't know in wich order
restore gingerbread->flash sbf
or
flash sbf->restore gingerbread
Wipe Data then flash sbf then restore.
But if you did a full nandroid backup with CWM you can just restore it.
i dont' know if it is a full nandroid backup
i have those files: boot.img, cache.img, data.img, nandroid.md5, system.img
if it is the full backup i don't need the sbf right?
by the way i can't use the sbf because i don't have it and i can't download it because megaupload and multiupload are down (i need the italian 2.3.4)
Quick question: is it possible to use the CM kernel with stock UK GB…
i think you can do that, but you must have full cwm backup before, if you wanna restore your data.
or if you wanna band new firmware, you can flash gingerbread rom from firmware.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA
make a backup with titanium app, then wipe all, flash your new sbf, make root acces and restore backup with titanium again
Ok i have a question.. NAND backup is those backup that make from CWM?
a full backup right?
If yes, here's the story... previously i have used a defy with CM 7.1 and i had this NAND Backup.. After that i sold the phone and now i had another DEFY with stock 2.1.. now is it possible to restore that NAND BAckup?
Simply put it Device A backup NAND A and then NAND A restore to Device B..
is it possible?

If checksums differ - then not possible.
But if you use the same SD card and play around without verification..then its possible!!

means i need to use back the same SD card as previous device..?
and what you mean without verification and what is checksums?
You should have "Titanium Backup". I use this to restore alle "my" Apps... I don't restore the system settings
not sure. but I'd say you can use your backup. just install the system you used to have (cm7.1) the official way and after that you should be able to restore your backup.
so now i need to do step by step to flash custom cm7.1 then restore from backup or direct now root it install cwm and restore it?
As I said. As far as I know: Flash Froyo, install CWM, flash CM7, restore backup. By that you should be on the save side. BUT try otherwise. You might be lucky.
ok thanks will try to do that.. i think safe method better =D
Some of the ROMs you can download here ARE nandroid backups. So if you are having about the same model of defy then is the answer yes (why not?)
Hi everybody,
First of all I want to say thanks to this community because I found a lot of informations here and solved many problems I had.
I searched all the day and I don't know what to do with the issue I get now...
I decided to install JellyBlast V3 on my Galaxy Y GT-S5360. Before that I made a backup of my stock ROM with ClockWorkMod (v5.0.2.6) and then I installed JBV3.
All was allright and I wanted to restore my datas only from the backup with the CWM advanced restore. That didn't work (Maybe because I can't restore datas from a different ROM?)
So, I wanted to make a complete restore from the same backup to get all my datas back, but I get the following message :
"data.img not found. Skipping restore of /data
.android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /scard/.android_secure.
Restore complete!"
The phone can boot up but my datas are not restored at all.
I explored the backup folder and there is no "data.img"... but in some resolved threads I read people didn't have it neither... and I am a big optimist so I kept searching...
I tried to restore again but with another zip file of CWM (who resolve some bugs) I found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27475895
But It failed again with the same issue.
I read that if the kernel changed the restoring is not possible anymore so a previous kernel have to be installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27475895 )
To be sure, I installed a stock ROM with Odin by following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800
I picked the S5360_XXKL3_OXXKL1_XXKL3 bundle.
Since I installed the fresh ROM I tried to restore datas again, but I got the same issue again...
So, I want to understand why I get this error ?
Maybe flashing with a stock ROM is not enought to replace the present kernel by the original one ?
Thanks for enlighted me (and sorry for my english)
By any chance is your CWM called gt-s5360CWM or something
You have to backup with a clean CWM and restore with the same clean CWM

Indeed, the first CWM I used to create the backup was "GT-S5360_CWM.zip" but the restore doesn't work.
The second CWM I tried is called "CWM_bla_bla.zip" and the restore failed with this one too.
I think the backup I made is not proper
Thank you for your help.
PS : if my backup is corrupted, is there a way to recover at least my contacts with a backup explorer or something ?
EDIT : I think my backup is definitely not good, I made another one with the "unbugged" CWM and It makes more files including a "data.rfs.tar" file...
Hello,
Atm i use cyanogen 10.2.
Is it possible to keep all my data/apps/widgets when I upgrade to 4.4 stock?
I have nandroid and titanium backups (which app is better?).
Do I have to recover in twrp?
Which partitions do I need to recover?
Thanks

You can use Titanium Backup to backup all your stuff. I use it, and it's the best tool to use when moving from ROM to ROM.
