Google wallet working on Note 2 - Galaxy Note II General

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35078925

Followed the instructions and seems to be activated properly on my N7100 with credit card linked. I left the build.prop as Galaxy Nexus for now.
I'll try it out later at a 7-11 to see if works or not and report back

It works! Went to 7-11 and bought my first purchase using Google Wallet. Everyone in line was surprised and shocked that it was possible to just tap the phone on the credit pad. Amazing!

Not working for me. It killed my nfc. Will play with it more later. Running pa

I got wallet installed in my international note 2 using the following simple procedure. all seems to be fine. But it is late, have not had chance to actually use it make payment yet.
1. change build.prop to Galaxy Nexus (remember to make a copy to backup)
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
2. reboot
3. install official google wallet app from play store
4. run it and set it up. It allowed me to add credit card and etc. but since my device is rooted, it says unsupported
5. make sure all runs well, then delete the wallet apk from /data/app
6. download the zip file from the link above, and get the wallet apk out of it -- DO NOT flash it in recovery
7. copy the extracted wallet.apk file from to /system/app and set the permission
8. reboot and run wallet to make sure it runs fine
9. change build.prop back to original one
10. reboot

Thanks,

Yea no problem. But I'm a flash freak and this take to much time to reset up each day with a new nightly 10.1,or a new PA. Would be great if this could be made in a flash zip.

This procedure worked like a charm first time through! Thanks :good:

is it okay to leave the prop value as nexus? what will happen if i leave it at that? i could not open wallet when i change the prop value back to what it was.

You will lose some spen and touchwiz features and nexus apps will show up in the market.

[Q] Need help reinstalling stock Twitter app

Okay, I rooted my N1 with Universal Androot and removed the stock Froyo Twitter app without backing it up. (Shame on me.) Now, I can't update to 2.2.1 because of it (a status 7 error complaining about not finding /system/app/Twitter.apk)
I have, at the advice of some other forum posts I've read, installed Twitter from Android Market and backed it up to the sd. Renamed it Twitter.apk and used the Terminal Emulator to copy it to /system/app. That worked and the file is there, but the update still will not apply. Do I also need a .odex file? Is there any way to update at this point?
Any help would be super appreciated. THANKS!
if this is the new twitter app would you be kindly enough to share it..lol
Sent from my Nexus One
grab it from an older update like from frf91 update.. then do adb push /system/app
if you cant do that...
put the twitter app in sdcard then go to terminal and do
cp /sdcard/twitter /system/app
reboot then apply it.. i had trouble with amazon and i did it that way and it worked well

I'd love to pull the app from a FRF91 build but I have no idea how that's done.

It looks as though I can't flash the GAPPS without unlocking the bootloader and installing a new recovery, correct? I'm really not that motivated if that's the case. I appreciate the information.
OK, just download the GAPPS, then use something like estrongs file manager to unzip to a folder of choice (with estrongs, longpress and select extract).
The Twitter apk will be in the extract folder/system/app. Just click the apk to install...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
BTW, if you have root, you may as well install a custom recovery (without touching the bootloader).
Easy way with ROM Manager (has Clockworkmod and Amon-Ra), or use adb if you wanna learn something...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Thanks for the tips. I'll check it out tomorrow when I can make a data transfer. I am doubtful that installing from the zip will solve much since I already loaded the app and its already in the system folder.
could someone verify whether or not the Twitter app has a corresponding odex file that I might need?
I ran into the same problem when I removed Amazon Mp3, but I was impatient so I ended up reflashing the stock rom and then updating.
There is a thread that has all n1 updates look for it and download froyo fr91 update then unzip it go to system app and look for twitter apk then put in sdcard and do commands again .. I tried to do with market twitter and it failed so I did it the way I'm explained andnworkd

[ROM][KANG] CherryKANG 0.9.4 1512max 384min [CM9] synced [11/04] Now supports goo.im!

Hi guys..
I just want to say thanks to the cm team for bringing ics to our touchpads. None of the work in this rom is my own.. I have just used the great tutorials and stuff I've picked up before to compile this. All credit to everyone who put work into this!
This rom includes cherry-picks from http://review.cyanogenmod.com such as the fixes below
A wifi fix -- review.cyanogenmod.com (Although some people are reporting wifi issues still. I recommend a full wipe)
I have also compiled my own kernel into this.. which I set the default CPU speed to 1.5ghz and the default governor to ondemand. I also added HAVS support. Although I don't know if we really need it on a tab. Maybe it will help slightly with battery life?
These are settings that I like and normally run. So don't flame me!
I am looking for pointers too.. for what to do next. I would like to add the webOS style recent apps mod next. Also ROMControl would be nice from here .. some pointers on how to include would be helpful. Any help greatly appreciated
So.. please remember.. I made this for myself... to teach me something.. someone just said I should post it!All credit goes to the people that contribute to cyanogenmod.
Cheers and enjoy

or you can use the free version (or dpi changer) to modify the dpi back to 160
---------- Post added at 02:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:03 AM ----------
I wrote this. It looks more complicated than it is cause i broke it down step by step. Ignore my cracked out numbering scheme, i didnt feel like shifting all the numbers down when i added more info.
1. If you dont already have it, download es file explorer
1b. go to the application settings and clear the data for the market
1c. download dpi changer and change dpi to 135(dont reboot yet)
2. go into the options on there and check the root explorer option and the mount option
3. download to TP
http://www.sundergaming.com/downloads/tabletmarketdpiunlocked.apk
4. rename the file Vending.apk
5. long press to copy the file (in ES file explorer)
6. click the star in top right corner (favorites)
7. Choose the phone (/)
8. navigate to system/app
9. paste the app
10. find the app in there called marketupdater.apk or something similar and rename it marketupdater.apk.bak
11. reboot
12. see if you can download an app like flash player. If you cant go to next step
12b. get back to system/app and click the Vending.apk and let it install.
You can mess around with the dpi if you want, but also remember that if the text is small, you can change the default text size in the settings.
The issue i encountered with this method is sometimes the fix stops working, but all you need to do to get the apps to download once again is clear your market data in the application settings. It is obviously much easier to download the app mentioned in the op, but this is for the cheapskates. your only other option is download dpi changer and just switch the dpi back to 160. That is painless but you loose out on some app compatibility and some screen real estate. I myself change the dpi to 138 and change the font size to large. Everything seems to be perfect. Best balance out there IMO.

Do not install CM9 over CM7. Some have gotten away with it and others like yourself run into trouble. Do a clean install, that means running ACMEUninstaller. Here are some instructions I created just for an occasion such as this:
Since the release of CM9, it has become abundantly clear to me that one
needs to do a clean install of the rom to avoid all the little
nagging issues that so many folks are reporting. Whether you are
installing for the first time, upgrading from CM7 or installing
an update of CM9, one really needs to do a clean install.
Since the advent of the official CM9 nightlies, installing
the rom and the Gapps files via CWM seems to be much more
reliable. You still need to wipe the cache and Dalvik cache
before you reboot after installing any rom. If you run into
trouble after an install via CWM, then read on.
Those who know how to do it otherwise and are comfortable with that
feel free to deviate from this document.
For first time installers, you can skip this part. First thing
you need to do is a nandroid backup of your current install and
copy it over to your PC for safe keeping. Next you should backup
your apps using either Titanium Backup or My Backup Root. This will
allow you to restore all your apps after you are done with this
update. If the install goes South, you can always restore your
nandroid backup.
For the first time installers, if you have not already prepared
your PC for this project, you need to download the following:
1. ACMEInstaller2
2. ACMEUninstaller
3. Moboot 0.3.5.zip
4. ClockworkMod.zip(CWM)
5. update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Touchpad-alpha2-fullofbugs.zip
6. UniversalNovacomInstaller.jar
7. The latest Gapps.zip
The ACME files, Moboot, CWM and the Alpha2.zip can all be found
on the OP for Alpha2 at:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18843-releasealpha2-cyanogenmod-9-touchpad/
The universal novacom installer and Gapps files can be found by doing a Google
search on the names above and you will find the download page. I found
the novacom installer here:
http://universal-novacom-installer.googlecode.com/files/UniversalNovacomInstaller.jar
You should download the latest Gapps.zip which
the last time I checked at the link below was 20120317:
http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps
First thing, open the run box on your PC and browse to the novacomInstaller
file. This is a Java executable, so treat it just like any .exe file.
However, since it does not end in .exe, when you browse to find it,
you will have to tell the browser to show "All Files." Once it is in
the run box, click on OK and the Novacomd drivers will be installed,
the Palm, inc folder will be created and the novacom.exe will be placed
in that folder. Next if the ACME files you downloaded are zips, unzip
them both into the Palm, Inc folder which you will find in the Program
files folder. If not zipped, copy both into the Palm, Inc folder. Now
your PC is prepared for installing CM9, so everything applies to first
installers and upgraders from this point forward.
First timers boot into WebOS, upgraders can do the same or boot into
your current install of Android. Connect your TouchPad to your PC
with the usb cable and open Windows Explorer on your PC. You should
see either the TouchPad as a drive, or cm_tenderloin if you are already
running a version of CM9. If you have not already created a cminstall
folder on your TouchPad do so now. Also create a folder named ICS
Install.
Next you need to copy Moboot 0.3.5 and ClockworkMod(CWM) into the
cminstall folder on your TouchPad. Now copy the rom.zip and the
Gapps.zip file into the folder you created named ICS Install. It's up
to you which rom and Gapps file you use if you are installing something
different from what is listed above. If you are copying files to the
Touchpad drive, you now need to right click the drive letter and eject
the drive when you are done. If you are copying files to cm_tenderloin,
you can just close Windows Explorer and both of you disconnect the usb cable.
Upgraders, now you need to run ACMEUninstaller and when it is done, your
TouchPad will reboot back into WebOS. Now both of you need to reboot while
holding down up volume to put the TouchPad into WebOS recovery or bootie
mode. You will know you succeeded if you see a large white usb symbol.
Now plug the usb cable back in and you should hear the PC beep indicating
the TouchPad is connected. You will not be able to see the TouchPad in
Windows Explorer, so don't try. On your PC click "RUN" and type in CMD.
This opens the command window. First timers type in the following in the
command window:
cd/ and press enter. You will see C:\
Now type cd program files and press enter. You will see C:\program files
Now type cd Palm, Inc and press enter. You will see C:\ program files\Palm, Inc
Upgraders, your novacom.exe may be in a different folder, so go browse to that folder.
Both of you enter novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2 in the command window and
hit enter. After a few seconds, you should see what is fondly called the "Double Penguin" on
the Touchpad. When the install is done, the TouchPad will boot to Moboot. Tap
the volume on the TouchPad to stop the 5 second countdown if you see one. Now
select CWM using the Home button, then Install zip file from SD card and use the
volume rocker to move down to the ICS Install folder. Select that and move to the
Alpha2.zip and select that. Start the install. When it is done, use the go back
selection to go back to the main CWM screen and select reboot.
Once Android is booted up(be patient, it takes a couple of minutes the first time),
play around with the browser, set up wifi, just to make sure your install was
successful. Now reboot back to CWM and do the same procedure to install the Gapps.zip
you copied to the ICS Install folder earlier. You're done with a clean install.
Upgraders, you know what to do, first timers, I hope you have friend around to show
you the ropes or you own an Android phone and already know the ropes. Good Luck!
P.S. I strongly suggest you make a nandroid backup of your new installation right now.
First timers, one makes a nandroid backup using CWM. Boot to CWM, select "Backup and
Restore" and select "Backup".

Got Sky go working on Tablet Z

Not sure if this is of interest to anyone but I managed to get Sky go working by side loading the apk and making one change to the build.prop.
change the following in build.prop
ro.product.model=SGP312
to
ro.product.model=C6603
You will also need to temporarily unroot device while using Sky go (You can remove and restore root without restarting tablet).
I used hide my root to hide the su binary and then uninstalled superuser.

The sky go zip replaces the build.prop with a sky friendly version, the other zip puts the original build.prop back in place. You'll need a recovery to use the zips.

[Q] rw mounting help

Hey im sure im one of many who have asked this but I looked around I couldnt find a solution that worked for me
My goal is only to change my lock ring softkeys and glowdots simple right? It always was until recently...
Ive tried a few roms and I installed busybox completely its updated and everythimg I do have root acess
My bootloader is indeed unlocked. And everything is done correctly
I am running 4.4.2 a custom somy z1 rom on nexus 4 16gb
I have tried both zipthemer and metamorph and
Metamorph claims rw is not mounted
On some roms I was able to chamge softkeys in some cases and not be able to do lock rings though
My questions are can you lead me to mounting and it would be lovely if someone can explain to me how this works and why I could change one but not the other.
Thank you

How to Get Kevo on Nexus 5 (5.0.1 or 5.1) or CM12 (5.0.2 or 5.1.1)

Instructions are below. Just a warning that you'll be modifying system files and so things could go wrong. Be careful, take your time, and back up the files you are replacing along with a nandroid backup. I assume no responsibility if your phone breaks though. This process was developed by someone else and I am posting this on their behalf. I will help where I can, but google will be your best friend
Instructions for Nexus 5 running 5.1 ASOP and Nexus 5 running 5.1.1 Cyanogenmod 12.1
1. You need to be rooted with a custom recovery. I won't go into detail on how to do that since there are plenty of threads on xda-developers about it.
2. Download the correct .zip for you system and install them after booting into recovery
Instructions for Nexus 5 running 5.0.1 ASOP and Nexus 5 running 5.0.2 Cyanogenmod 12
1. You need to be rooted with a custom recovery. I won't go into detail on how to do that since there are plenty of threads on xda-developers about it.
2. Copy the correct 2 files to your phone. One set is for a Nexus 5 running 5.0.1 ASOP and the other is for Nexus 5 running 5.0.2 Cyanogenmod 12 . I plugged my phone into my windows computer and just placed them in the root of the "drive". From the phone's point of view this is /sdcard.
3. You now need to change the permissions of the 2 files. You have to put them in the /system/ folder before you can change permissions. /mnt/sdcard doesn't allow you to change permissions. So copy them to /system/ and change their permissions to 0644 (rw-r--r--). I use root browser for this.
4. Use root browser and move libbluetooth_jni.so to /system/lib/ and move bluetooth.default.so to /system/lib/hw. I would copy the original files to somewhere else first as a backup in case something goes wrong. Double check the permissions on the new files after you move them to their respective locations.
5. Reboot.
6. Installed Kevo and it stopped telling my my phone wasn't supported at this point and everything worked fine.
Please join the KEVO ALPHA Google Group to get the most recent version of the app. I have provided a link to the 1.0.15, but it may be out of date.
KevoForAndroid-1.0.15p.apk

PLEASE CHECK THE FILES BEFORE YOU COPY THE OVER YOUR FILES, ELSE YOU WILL BREAK YOU BLUETOOTH
-As along as you keep a copy of your original files you can always paste them over the broken ones

PROCESS IF YOU DONT HAVE EITHER ONE OF THESE OS:
If neither one of these sets of files work for you. You can make your own. This process will take the whole day and a lot of goggling if you have never used Linux, Source Code, or compiled anything. Remember to always have have all files up to date, use Python 2.7 not Python 3+, have >100 gig of hard drive space, and google the errors when you see them in the terminal window.(you will see a lot if this is your first time). If you are familiar with all this then it will likely take about 2 hours and that is just for downloading the source code and compiling.
1. You need to be rooted with a custom recovery. I won't go into detail on how to do that since there are plenty of threads on xda-developers about it.
2. Get the android source code. Follow the instructions from Google or from your ROM on how to do this. Note that you'll need either a Linux system or an OSX system. (I used an Ubuntu and installed it on a extrahardive, but you can use a virtual machine as well) Also note that getting the source takes quite a while. It took around an hour for me and I have 100Mb down.
3. Edit a file from the hammerhead source. If you followed the instructions on getting the source, you'll find the file at device/lge/hammerhead/bluetooth/. The file is called bdroid_buildcfg.h. Open the file and add "#define BLE_VND_INCLUDED TRUE" (without the quotes) above the line "#define BTM_BLE_ADV......". Save the file.
4. Compile, again following the instructions from Google or from your ROM. Obviously this time will vary depending on the speed of your computer. it can take anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours.
5. Once the compile is done, we need to grab 2 files. out/target/product/hammerhead/system/lib/libbluetooth_jni.so and out/target/product/hammerhead/system/lib/hw/bluetooth.default.so. Save the files in a location you can access easily for copy to your phone.
6. Copy the 2 files to your phone. I plugged my phone into my windows computer and just placed them in the root of the "drive". From the phone's point of view this is /sdcard.
7. You now need to change the permissions of the 2 files. You have to put them in the /system/ folder before you can change permissions. /mnt/sdcard doesn't allow you to change permissions. So copy them to /system/ and change their permissions to 0644 (rw-r--r--). I use root browser for this.
8. se root browser and move libbluetooth_jni.so to /system/lib/ and move bluetooth.default.so to /system/lib/hw. I would copy the original files to somewhere else first as a backup in case something goes wrong. Double check the permissions on the new files after you move them to their respective locations.
9. Reboot. Kevo stopped telling my my phone wasn't supported at this point and everything worked fine.

You will find the patched files for 5.1 here: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/kevo-alpha/-bOQs8V6KU0
Can this be done for other devices? Like the Note series or others?

Yes if you go to https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/kevo-alpha/-bOQs8V6KU0 you will see the forums for different device support. I saw Note 4 has support.
Step 8 isn't entirely necessary
Just a heads up if you want to simplify your first post, that part of step "8" is not necessary:
8. Reboot into recovery. Using your recovery's file browser (TWRP has one, not sure about others), move libbluetooth_jni.so to /system/lib/ and move bluetooth.default.so to /system/lib/hw. I would copy the original files to somewhere else first as a backup in case something goes wrong. Double check the permissions on the new files after you move them to their respective locations.

In fact, as you already are using Root Browser to change the permissions, you can also use Root Browser to move the 2 files. Worked just fine for me and removes the need for TWRP or another reboot.

Thanks I have updated the steps. There is also a zip file to install now, which is a lot easier.
@BSME_SWeedon any chance you can update 6.0 marshmallow files?
@Scorchsta was the one who generated the files, but he has not had a working nexus 5 in a while and I am about to jump ship the the Nexus 5x. I might try to push ASH6.0 to my nexus 5 this weekend and see if I can generate the files. I will post them if I am successful
thank you so much. looking forward to it.

Thank you thank be very much appreciate
Anyone seen updated libs for the n5 with marshmallow yet? For me its either wait to see if kevo works on new nexus or keep snoozing my marshmallow update on my n5
The latest alpha works with an unmodified library, albeit the unlock is sent through the phone not the deadbolt.

Here's a flashable zip for 6.0.1 (MMB29K). BSME_SWeedon's instructions were great and, now that I know how to do it, I'll try to stay on top of future updates.
BSME_SWeedon, could you update the title to include 6.0.1?
Can you post some screenshots?
Got this merged in CM 13 Nightlies

Should be effective on the Mar 22 Nightly
