[Q] Backup location - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I run a backup through SafeStrap where does it save to?
Pimped out RAZR M

/storage/sdcard[sdcard number here depending on if you backed up to internal or external]/TWRP/BACKUPS
for me its /storage/sdcard1/TWRP/BACKUPS
EDIT: backup names are funky - just go into the long named folder and they should be there... not sure why there's a huge hex string for the folder name...

I put the date of the folder, put it into xrecovery backup folder but when I go to xrecovery and click restore it says mb5 mismatch.. here is how I put the date 2011-05-07
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
format sd card
or
use a difrent one
If the rom name is like floyoginger 1. X. X u just delete the 1. X. X and just leave it like example floyoginger
Metal is here
For example:
Check the creation date of the folder where your custom Rom is in.
Rename the directory with this date.

Redownload the file. Don't use the built-in download manager of browser, because file gets corrupted when internet link goes down. Use download manager like flashget, etc.
in first i have the same problema and i found that my microsd was with problemes.
so try to format sd or use a diferent one

Ti backing up to sd-ext

How do I make it so ti backs up into sd-ext? It only ' detects' mnt/sdcard... If I have to wipe the data or system, everything goes with it!

Preferences > preferred backup location
You should be able to scan for it or browse to it.
Path should be:
/mount/sdcard-ext/TitaniumBackup

I might add that when you have the popup box there for navigating to your preferred backup location, use the back button to go up a folder. When I first used Ti it took me a while to figure out how to move up a folder in the directory.
Path can be anything you make it, and the Titanium Backup folder won't show on the ext-SDCARD unless you create the folder first, as Ti only creates a folder in the default backup location.

Yeah, the dev wrote me back now (that was fast!) and he told me to use the back button. That worked.
So now whenever I install it, it should automatically search /mnt and look for that folder, or will I always have to set to it?
It remembers. There is also an option to have it keep its settings on the sdcard. Last time i wiped and reatored it set itself to the correct card.

If I remember right the serial number is encoded within the backup location on CWM, so you need to rename the backup directory to the serial number of your new device.

Not sure what you mean by this. My CWM backups are in the path clockworkmod\backup\'Date/Time' name of folder\(six files in folder). No serial number is evident.
My only problem restoring cwm backups was when I renamed one and put spaces in the folder name.

You can't put spaces in between the letters. Just rename it.

[Q] Incorrect recovery time.

I've noticed this since I installed garwynn's version of CWM. Just installed the official CWM touch recovery and experiencing the same thing.
When making a backup, the date and time are very wrong. For instance, today is June 11th and the recovery is saying that it's February 15th, 1970. 1970-02-15.08.16.07 should be 2013-06-11.09.57.xx.
Any idea on how to solve this problem?
I don't know for a fact, but unless garwynn speaks up, I would try to run another cwm backup to see if the date corrects itself. I would highly suspect the invalid date backup is bad. I don't have proof to back up my opinion BTW.
Philz recovery had the same issue on mine but a traul through the settings in recovery and I was abke to alter time.date ect
Now alls good

Rom manager
If you do a backup using ROM manager, the dates come out right no matter which recovery you are on.
It has been a problem on all official CWM based recoveries for quite a long time now. It got messed up in one of the updates upstream a long time ago and it's been lost in the code. (Something like that)
But basically it's not really a problem or effecting any actual utility. And btw don't try manually changing the back up names as it will mess up the MD5 and you won't be able to restore them.

I've changed the name of the folder within the backup folder so it would be easier to know what that backup was. You don't use spaces in the folder name. Md5 still works. I md5 a file, then change the name of the file and md5 it again. Same sum. Granted, you shouldn't be drastically messing around with backups, but I don't see any harm in renaming a folder to like stock.rooted or stockrooted instead of a date and time. The files in the folder haven't been altered. When you're poking around with recovery, it makes backups easier to choose if they are different ROM backups.

Do not change the names of the internal folders, that would mess the restore part.

So, if you have changed the name what does one do? I am currently experiencing this at the moment? Am I screwed at this point?

[Q] Nandroid Backup Hidden

I finally got fed up with reliability issues of CM (system crashing/freezing/etc) so I'm going back to stock (and I'm using the most current stable version). I took a stock backup in February using TWRP but find CWM to be more reliable so I use that now. I took a backup of the CM install today, using CWM, before doing anything, but I cannot find it. It doesn't appear in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups although when using CWM, I can view past backups and even restore from them and it's saying it's coming from that directory. Any clues as to how to view these backups so I can copy them to my PC?
I granted my file manager root access so that shouldn't be the issue. It only shows a downloads folder under the clockworkmod folder, no backups folder with the actual backups in them.
Thanks for the help,
Spike
Did you check for any hidden files? Or maybe any other folder.
