I'm on AT&T and I got the 50gs. Rooted and had new ROM installed before I even remembered to sign up.
Well, don't get too excited about it. I was pumped to get 50Gb of space, until I got the email from them that said it was only for 24 months.

I was kinda hoping that in two years there'd be even better offers with regards to free space and if not the price for 50gb would be so cheep it wouldn't even matter, and if it did, 50gb doesn't take that long to backup.
I'm not sure if this applies to Dropbox but I know Google Drive will let you keep your data even if you cancel your subscription, I still have access to my data and features, I just can't upload anymore, I'm not sure how long they will keep it for me but I've had just under 200gb of video archived on Drive for 6 months now and I've only ever paid for one month.

re: system dump
download Astro File Manager from the market, choose the home icon in the upper left, then push the "up" icon..you should then be in your phones "root".
Then long press on the system folder and choose edit/copy. Copy that to your sdcard, then from your comp. zip it, n upload it to a file sharing site of your choice.

i just got my evo today from the conference.. wasn't expecting any free stuff since google already provided all the attendees with a free motorola droid or a nexus one..

Also, just so everyone knows - those that got the device at I/O - it's very difficult dealing with these Sprint reps. The number included with the phone to "continue" Sprint service goes to an 'advanced tech support' group within Sprint - and although they are familiar with us getting the phones .. they almost have no ability to quickly and efficiently activate the ESN on a new or existing account. It took the 3 reps I dealt with over 30 minutes each to figure out how to a.) disable the demo account and b.) enable the ESN for the EVO on a new/exisiting plan.
I don't blame Sprint though, they said they weren't made aware of this until TODAY (one day after we all got the phones) and they said a LOT of people are calling in to do this but it's way harder than it should be.
Anyways, got my number ported over from Verizon - back on Sprint. Couldn't be happier. THIS is the device to get, rest assured.

As early as this month doesn't sound too concrete or confirmed to me. They haven't even pushed the 2.1 update with gps fix. I hope I'm wrong though.
As far as I know, this is coming from a Samsung tech employee in Finland, and is only stated for the international Galaxy S. I wouldn't expect this by the end of the month for our US Vibrant.

I called T today to find out about the GPS fix that was leaked to come out today. I was transferred to T's Android Rep who stated that the GPS Fix is to be included in 2.2 and that he did not have a time for the release. He could not even speculate on the time frame for a release but that it was in the works and coming soon. I would not expect the update till late November but before Christmas. It could be pushed back even farther if there is any chance of there being some issues with the update to 2.2 The last thing Sam and T want is bad PR it would be a loss of sales and loss of customers. I believe they are going to test the crap out of the 2.2 update which will be nice to have a great stock rom.

Stop with your speculation. If Samsung waited till November, no one in these forums would still have a Vibrant. Every other phone to come out in the last few months has been updated to froyo (Droid X will be out soon, but has seen many leaked versions). Waiting till November would be a deathwish for Samsung. By then, Gingerbread might be out then the whole process would start over again.

I went through all the Vibrant Facebook Pages and found the one mentioning Froyo and there is no way in hell that is a Samsung managed page.
a) They bag on the Captivate - Samsung wouldn't do that
b) July 14th - Said "I just played with one" - Why would Samsung say that?
c) "Their review" links to http://thetechninja.wordpress.com/ - Why would Samsung do a review of their own phone?
So, rumor squashed, there is absolutely no basis for believing anything posted to that page. The OP here should not have said its the official Vibrant page when it clearly isnt.

You're in for a treat i went to a vibrant from N1 its night and day...so much better in terms of hardware/performance
My situation is different I already own vibrant pretty much the same phone but samsung/tmobile take forever with updates.
I want exclusive updates like i got with my N1 back in the day and more XDA love
of course 2.3 also...but i lose the great video codecs mkv...ect that galaxy S supported and external SD IDK im still up in the air so far i buying it and can always return if dont like

All these missing features were already on galaxy S phones and shouldn't have been removed
BTW i have 16GB on phone and 16GB on my external SD and its combination on nandroid, titanium, ROM back-ups/ custom config files/ Themes /720p MKV/AVI movies/ Gameloftgames/MP3s/PICS/PS2, SNES..ect roms/Sub directories for programs all this crap adds up

You got a good point but I have noticed lately that they have been giving alot of props to apple.
Do you think that they are trying to steer the phone makers in adopting these decisions LIKE taking the sd slot out?
Plus maybe these decisions where in the favor of the google devs. Which means since a dev phone it will be sold the same way.
ORRR even better the budget constraints....all these extra things cost money and Samsung thinking this device is going to be sold to a small market share they pulled all the things that make it a multimedia device out of it...
We may never know but you can explain if you have a better idea.Im open minded i'd like to hear some speculation =D

This is a Vibrant with a curved screen running on Gingerbread. Nothing more.
I fail to see this as a worthwhile "upgrade".
Im standing up for my self I dont care about making excuses...Ive owned a Vibrant and wish to get stock on it.
Plus SGS phones have faulty GPS and before you even say that they fixed it or even bash me for the excuse. Know that the maps application is a huge part of the Android OS and I would gladly say that I would fork over 550 for one that works and not 500 for one that dosent.

At first when I saw the lack of HSPA+ i thought about not getting it, but after comparing the speed of my G2 (temporary until Thursday) to my just SOLD nexus one, there was no difference (same 3mb down). It is going to take some good time untill tmobile goes over 7mb ( at least in my area).

Yeah I live in a HSPA+ area and my friend was comparing his speed to my sisters MT4G and he was laughing at her when his HD2 pulled the same 4megs a sec so im good since its as fast is it will be here...

i just did ... took a few minutes but i got a manual reset on my upgrade ...
im eligible for a FULL upgrade now !.... never thought it would work.
it went straight to a rep and the guy was awesome

I know some people said they have been able to have their line reset even though they weren't partially eligible. Well more power to ya. I guess it doesn't hurt to try, but if you are turned down don't fret I was too. I have to wait just like everyone else.

Yep, that is what they told me. I wanted to get three lines on my account upgrades bumped up, but they said no. Luck for me I mentioned I'm on my third Epic and they were nice enough to then bump up the upgrade on my line.

My family has only been with Sprint for 7 months but my dad hates his blackberry and wants a high end android phone. What do I need to say to get them to bump him up?
Also, once you do this, do you have to get an evo 3d or could I order him a nexus s \ epic \ evo shift on amazon?

I Don't see why not especially if you guys are Premier gold and in good standing..
i think if he tells them he want's to preorder the Evo 3d they'll end up giving it to him.
because they know they'll make back the money, but that's what i told them and they didn't make me pre order it right away and im still debating whether i will in the first place.

We aren't gold premier. We have 5 lines on the 1500 everything data plan so we will be silver ($129.99 base price + 3 additional lines x $20 + 3 x $10 premium data). Is it still possible? Are you gold?

The guy i spoke to was cool. he said he was leaving in 30 minutes but would be back there at 9:00 in the morning so if you guys aren't getting through try calling when he's there ..
